Reply to Sample code to play sound?
Adeeb,The mp3 is used in my earlier version that worked on WK 1.0. But will double check it.While the watch isn't muted, is there a way to check the sound levels on it? Do we have to add a sound slider on it?That's the odd part, if I'm running it from the watch, I can't debug using Xcode. hopefully in the future they'll add that feature...so can't really check the error propertly.

Reply to watchkit microphone
There isn't direct access to a stream of audio from the microphone in watchOS. However, you can present a system interface to record audio to a file using:- (void)presentAudioRecordingControllerWithOutputURL:(NSURL *)URL preset:(WKAudioRecordingPreset)preset maximumDuration:(NSTimeInterval)maximumDuration actionTitle:(nullable NSString *)actionTitle completion:(void (^)(BOOL didSave, NSError * __nullable error))completion;

Watch OS 2 Bricks Apple Watch
Hello Everyone,Like many others i installed Watch OS 2 on my Apple Watch a few days after WWDC. Since then the experience of using the Watch was a complete nightmare. I have had many problems including contacts not syncing via my iPhone, not receiving notifications, home screen freezing , the watch running warm against my skin, and worst of all poor battery life. My watch only seem to last 4 hours on a single charge ever since the beta was installed. Even though Apple has not documented a way to downgrade. I decided to try to figure out a solution on my own. I tried many things like downgrading my iPhone to iOS 8.3 to see if I could force a downgrade, nothing happened. I even tried resetting the watch back to factory settings and setting up as a new watch, still nothing happened. The Apple watch app even showed me an alert saying that my iOS was out of date to use the watch. As a final resort i reupgraded my iPhone to iOS 9 just to get the Watch paired up to use, until the next beta or until somebody figured

Reply to iOS 9 Beta battery life
Update to my installs:iPad mini: The battery life finally went down to about 30% after using it for a day and half (last time on charger was when I installed beta and it didn't get to 100%). I streamed some audio for about 45 minutes. Charged back up to 100% and after sitting around for three hours and about 10 minutes of usage, it's still at 100%Usage:13 minStandby: 13 min <-- This does not match actual time off charge.iPod Touch: I went ahead and installed the beta on my iPod Touch. Charged it to 100% and after a few hours it's still holding a full charge.Usage: 9 minutesStandby: 3 hrs 27 miniPhone 5s: I use it as my main phone and for development. I'm not a big developer so I don't have test v. production iPhones, it's more of a hobby with a small income. I downgraded my iPhone back to iOS 8.3. I can update/test my apps on the iPod touch and iPad mini. I'll look at installing on my iPhone after a few more betas.

Reply to Using Xcode 7 for production apps
Can these points be clarrified. Two questions....1) Can beta versions of Xcode be used to submit apps to the app store targetting GA versions of iOS. In other words, can Xcode 7 be used to submit apps to the app store that are targetting iOS 8.2) Can apps using Swift 2.0 be submitted to the app store? If not, it sounds like no Swift apps can be submitted to the app store using Xcode 7 regardless of the targetted iOS level.

Reply to Nightstand Mode
I too noticed the vibration part as well. Without the persistent clock, its usefullness is way less. I read elsewhere that the alarm volume and sound is a bit harse, but have no personal experience. After it was clear it failed in this manner, I just used my phone, which is the norm for me anyway.

iOS 9 beta: setting it up as a daily driver
OK, so you read the part about it's only to be installed for development purposes and figured that was the dead hand of Steve reaching up to keep you from having fun right?Unfortunately: it wasn't.Right now they aren't kidding and you need to understand something to use iOS 9 beta as your daily driver: a development device has the beta installed and a development app. It doesn't have 1024 apps and 100GB of it's 128GB of storage filled up with movies, photos etc... nor is it plugged into every social network and email account known toThe Cloud. And it's chock full of bugs that developers don't care about because they're focused on making siri work with their app.Got it?So if you still want to make a daily driver out of iOS 9 beta, because you know, you are wink-wink-nudge-nudge testing the bits to help find bugs for Apple instead of fixing up your own code....For the first day you will need to treat it like a WIndows OS Desktop.Keep it plugged into power. (Desktop)Keep rebooting it. (Windows OS)Ideally you sho

Selecting Route (inputs & outputs) in --- AVAudioSession
What is the simplest way to do ----(1) Play output to default speaker while a a gadget to swipe cards (like square) is plugged in to(2) Record with AVAudioSessionPortBuiltInMic; & playback throgh default speaker(3) Switch/ensure that the gadget is still reading info from the card through AVAudioSessionPortHeadsetMic(4) Switch back to step-2.Step 3 may use a swipe-class and the rest of the steps all use a playRecord-ClassSome more details -----------I went through that --- Audio Session Programming Guide. It is presumed that a Card-Swiping Gadget is plugged into the iOS device, before the app is launcedand is kept plugged in.So, no hardware route changes. To set the output I use ---[myAudioSession setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayAndRecord withOptions:AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionMixWithOthers|AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionDefaultToSpeaker error:&errorAudioCategory];For me it is not clear from the documentation --- the pros & cons of AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionMixWithOthersI was hoping t

orientation at start up
I am having a strange problem with orientation at app startup. This problem shows up on both the iPad simulator and iPad hardware. Lets say I am running in the iPad 2 (8.3) simulator. If the simulator is orented in portrait before I start the app, the views all look fine and when I simulate rotations, all the views rotate and look just fine. Now if I orient the simulator in landscape before I start the app, the views are properly oriented but larger in size. Now when I simulate rotations, all the views rotate but the size is still too large and there is no way to recover other than stopping the app, rotate the hardware, and restart the app again. My main view is a split screen in landscape but not in portrait. If I start the app with the simulator in landscape, the main view comes up split screen like it supposed to but the display view on the right is the one that is too large. The view looks like it goes off the screen to the right and bottom.By split screen I mean a scrollable list view on the left and a nor

Reply to Scheduled, background process
There's no API on iOS that will run your app code at any specific schedule in the background. It sounds like you've considered all the options. I think you'll have to submit a feature request describing your use case and hope for the best in a future iOS version.I suspect the problem with any such API is that some developers would abuse the heck out of it, running continuously in the background and destroying battery life. And of course Apple would get blamed. But if they could figure a way to prevent abuse somehow, it certainly would be useful for many cases.
