Reply to Video Playback on iOS 18 public release is seriously flawed

iPhone 16 pro, iOS 18.0.1 filmed an 8 minute video on 4K at 60fps. Can only watch the video from the beginning; cannot skip through or the video does not play (but sound does). If I crop the end and save as a new video (last minute or so) it’s just completely black.

Hello @j-fishman, In addition to specifying real-time encoding, I recommend that you also provide the expected frame-rate to the compression session: status = VTSessionSetProperty(session, key: kVTCompressionPropertyKey_ExpectedFrameRate, value: NSNumber(value: 120)) With this change in your sample project, I am seeing 120fps on an iPhone 16 Pro. -- Greg

iPhone 16 pro camera crashes, device hot and slow, microphone no sound, horrible customer service

i have had iPhone 16 pro since 09252024, and the following issues pop up in turns everyday: Camera crashes and the device doesn’t response. I have to restart to restore the function. Outgoing and incoming voice messages have no sounds. Initially, I thought it was because of the message app; however, I tried to record my voice with voice Memos, Still no sounds, so I figured it’s the microphone. I sometimes have to restart iphone 2-3 times to fix the issue. The device gets hot and slow without background apps running. I can not figure out the cause. For example, after I woke up this morning and picked up my phone to look at some websites. The phone became hot and slow in just a few minutes. Again, after I restarted it, the issue resolved. Do I pay over $1,100 to constantly restart my iPhone to have it work? i have contacted Apple service teams for hundreds of times since last week; however, I have found it’s extremely hard to get proper help. I do not call viewWillNeedLayout after change. I will provide a code snippet as soon as I can tonight. I constrain to the safearealayout guide because it’s can change depending on which layout you use….ie..iPhone 16max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone SE…etc. Even when I use Auto Layout Constraints, my button behavior reacts the same.

Reply to Carplay not working after ios 18 update

I am experiencing the same CarPlay issue on a 2022 Ford Escape immediately after upgrading to IPhone 16 pro OS18, where all was fully functioning on my former IPhone 13. in settings-CarPlay no vehicles are listed as available. I have since updated the car’s Synch version to the most recent build with no change in behavior.

Reply to Simulator in Low Data Mode

Encountering the same issue in iOS 18.1 simulator using the iPhone 16 Pro. iCloud photos will not sync, even if you tap Sync Now, presumably because of the Low Data Mode. It has not previously been an issue, works fine if I create an iOS 18.0 simulator. How to turn it off?

Reply to iPhone 16 Pro - iOS 18 camera crashing

I agree, it should be raised as a bug. But I also think this should have never been a bug with a new phone pro model that always focuses on the camera. I’ve had his issue also, along with photos not displaying correctly when I look at them from the camera app, videos recording without now sound. And in a time I needed it to work and document damage from the storm for insurance reason. At the price of a iPhone 16 pro max this was a big failure.

Similar issue here when starting an ARSession. iOS 26.3.1 on an iPhone 16 Pro. Update as of 6/26/25: Still same issue (No Navigation Title displayed on first tab in TabView and NavigationSplitView) when tried on iOS 26.0 Developer Beta 2 and iPadOS 26.0 Developer Beta 2, in Simulator and on device running 26.0 Developer Beta 2. Reply to Debug Failed in Xcode Simulator

I'm finding good success with the following: echo settings set plugin.process.gdb-remote.packet-timeout 300 > ~/.lldbinit This is on Sequoia with XC 16.3 (16E140) running an iPhone 16 Pro simulator (18.4) On my M1/64GB laptop, it is unmercifully slow, but I can debug and work with things w/o having the debugger crash and disconnect.

Thanks for providing all the details. It is a good news that the framework now works on your physical device. Regarding the configurations you mentioned: 1 macOS 26 beta on real metal using iPhone 16 Pro Max simulator 2 macOS 15.5 with Xcode beta using iPhone 16 Pro Max simulator 3 macOS 26 beta in a VM using iPhone 16 Pro Max simulator I believe 2 and 3 are not supposed to work because: The simulator uses the models on macOS, and macOS 15.5 doesn’t have them. (This also explains the issue @hbcondo described.) Apple Intelligence doesn’t support running on VM. Now the only problem is that configuration 1 doesn't work for you. To get to the bottom, would you mind to share the following info: Did you mean a physical Mac and not a VM by on real metal? Is Apple Intelligence available and enabled on your Mac? Concretely, is it an Apple Silicon Mac, and are the system language and region supported by Apple Intelligence? Note that I am asking the configuration on

Reply to Question about SpeechTranscriber availability on specific iPad models

Here is some additional information. My Xcode version is as follows: Xcode: Version 26.0 (17A324) I will also explain in detail why I determined that SpeechTranscriber is unavailable. When I used the SpeechTranscriber.isAvailable property, it worked correctly when tested on my iPhone 16 Pro Max (running iOS 26.0). However, on the iPad I mentioned earlier, it is determined to be unavailable. I am testing this with the exact same program.

Reply to Bricked iPhone after Installing iOS 26 Beta

I have same issue on my iPhone 16 Pro. Upgraded from 18.5 to 26.0. It downloaded the image and started to process. Then the screen went black. I hit the power button but no luck. Finally I plugged it in and got the low battery symbol. I started at like 90% battery so no way it could have burned through all that battery during the update. So far I have no workaround.
