I’ve been here trying to charge my Apple Pencil. But when I connect it to the side where the magnet is, it says that it’s charging, but when I check on the side menu, it does not show the charging icon? I’m on the new iOS 14 update. Does the update affect my usage for my pencil? Or do I need to get a new one? I’ve reset my iPad, forgotten and connected the pencil in Bluetooth, tried heating it up with a hair dryer, but nothing has worked.

Batteries widget shows that the Apple Pencil is charging but the percentage isn increasing. Charging is still possible through the wall adapter for Apple Penci.
I have a 1st gen Apple Pencil and a 10.5 inch iPad from 2020. I can get the pencil to connect when it’s plugged up (although it doesn’t let me use it), but when I unplug it from my iPad or lightning cable it won’t work. When I plug it back up it says its on 1%. What can be done about this situation?
If the Apple Pencil 2 is removed when Magic Keyboard is attached, the Pencil would not function no matter it was shown charging or connected on screen. I would have to put the Pencil back to its charging position, remove the Magic Keyboard, take out the Pencil again for the Pencil to function. The Pencil remains in function as long as it is not put back to charge, even if you attach it back to the Magic Keyboard. But if it is with the Keyboard and once you put the Pencil back to charge, you would have to perform the above again to use the Pencil. No help on soft reset or shutting down, connecting another Pencil or charging with another iPad.

Please help, my apple pencil is broken, i've been charging it via the cable and my ipad, it will fully charge but then it disconnects from my ipad and when I plug it into the ipad to reconnect it, an error screen will pop up telling me it is not charged, (3% or even 0%) I do not what to do and I would love to fix this. I also have a off brand Apple Pencil charger/holder that a family member bought me for my birthday and using it to charge my Apple Pencil might have ruined the charging system somehow. Any advice would be amazing.
Hi everyone 👋 I’ve been using the Apple Pencil Pro with my iPad Pro M4 and absolutely love it — the squeeze gesture, rotation, and haptics are amazing for creative work. But I’ve run into a little roadblock… Right now, only one Pencil Pro can be paired at a time. So while one is charging, you can’t use another as a backup without unpairing and re-pairing, which interrupts the workflow. I’d really love to see one of two things: The ability to use one Pencil while another charges or An official external charger (or support for third-party ones) Personally, I’d happily buy both a second Pencil and a charger if this became possible. I’ve even chatted with other creatives who feel the same — it would make a huge difference for long projects or working on the go. Just wanted to share this idea and see if anyone else here would like this too. Thanks for reading!
I do not use my pencil that much. In the past, I had noticed that on the iPad, it charged very quickly. It also held its charge over an extended period. With the current beta, it seems to take much longer to charge and without using it the pencil is down to 75% after 1/2 day. Something odd it going on.Anybody else notice this?
Further to my previous comment, the Apple Pencil completely discharged on August 10th - 15 days after a full charge and light usage. I charged it up using the fast charging of plugging it in to the Lightning port of the iPad... within 23 minutes it had 100% charge at which point I unplgged it and did not let it trickle charge further.I then updated to iOS 11 beta 5 on the iPad Pro.30 hours later, the Apple Pencil has 86% power remaining.

The issue continued with iOS 11b4, so I went to an Apple Store and tested the Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro 10.5 running iOS 10.. plugged it in for a number of minutes and the charge did not rise. The store replaced it with a brand new one, tested and working fine. Litmus test will be when the Pencil has a low charge, or completely discharged, and see what happens.

Hi,How to detect whether Apple Pencil is connected?ThanksFrancesca Venturin
HiJust me or is anyone else having Apple Pencil issues with iOS 11?Have an iPad Pro 10.5 and with the latest beta have noticed that my Apple Pencil does not charge - always showing at 0% (sometimes red, sometimes green).Have plugged it in to the iPad Pro for over an hour at a time, still no charge - will work for a couple of minutes after unplugging then stop. Likewise when plugged in to the power adaptor in the wall.Have hard reset the iPad, have even un-paired the Apple Pencil and re-paired. Still no difference.Trying to work out if it is a faulty Pencil or an iOS 11 beta issue.
I am also experiencing this issue. I am not on beta 3, but on the release version of iPadOS 15.5 on my iPad Pro 12.9 M1. Nothing seems to work, I also tried restarting, reconnecting with bluetooth and forgetting the Apple Pencil 2, but it does not work anymore right after the update to iPadOS 15.5. The only thing that happens is a small popup with Apple Pencil when I place the Pencil on the magnetic charging pad on the side. So it is there (and not broken), but normally it also displays the battery charge percentage when you do this, so it is not connected with bluetooth. I talked to Apple Support and they sent me to the Apple Store to have it checked out. But reading from experience here; this must be a software bug. This needs to be fixed ASAP as I am an artist and I need my Apple Pencil to do my work.

Do we yet know the APIs to the Apple Pencil? Is a pencil stroke going to be received as a series of touchesMoved or as a richer data structure (e.g., splines)? If we receive UITouch objects, how is tilt determined?
Hello, no one else seems to be having this problem. My Apple Pencil is paired with my iPad Pro and shows as charging but will not write. The screen displays a series of dots instead of a solid stroke and there’s a latency. The pencil worked perfectly before I updated to iOS 11. Nonetheless I changed the tip but no luck. I hate to install iOS 10 again but my primary use for my iPad Pro is hand writing. Any tips?
