From Homespan to Certified product
Hello everyone. I'm new in Apple. I developed a board (HW and FW) for led light control. I used a ESP32 module in my hardware and Homespan for the firmware. All works good and on my iPhone "Home" I can control the system. Now...obviously on "Home" my system is marked as "not compatible" and "not certified" for HomeKit I'm not very skilled on firmware side, is possible to get certification for my system starting from homespan library or I've to re-write all the code? Thanks Stefano

Homepod as home hub
Hi, I recently purchased a Homepod Mini to assist my family in controlling Homekit devices, especially lights. But also to add matter support for future devices. After installing the Homepod everything seemed fine, until it took over as the home hub, our Apple TV 4K without matter support has been previously our home hub, devices worked flawlessly when the Apple TV was the hub. Most of our lights are made by IKEA and utilize the Zigbee standard, a well proven and robust smart home standard that has been nothing but flawless in our experience. The Dirigera hub that controls these devices retains full and fast control over the devices connected to it. Solely making this a Homekit and Home related issue. The Homepod Mini says that devices are offline, even though they are fully and without problem available in the Home app. This isn't a major problem, but the problems don't end here. Devices such as outlets and lights are displayed as double, thus as seperate entities where one is offline and another one is available. While shortcut buttons appear in the home view, even though they shouldn't (as this is automatically disabled and definetly have not been ordered to show up in the home view.). Sometimes devices are completely listed as offline. Another thing is that the control of the devices has become extremely slow in comparison to what they were like when the Apple TV was the hub. I've tried everything listed on Apple's support pages and instructions/forums. I've also contacted IKEA and consulted their instructions and support pages. I've tried all fixes and suggestions on Reddit and other online forums. To describe, I've reset and removed the Homepod multiple times from my Home and icloud. I've also tried to add the Homepod to another home, but as the device sits on the same Wi-Fi its reverted back to being the other home's hub even though not being part of that home. I've also tried to re-add all devices and removing the IKEA devices /integration from the home which had no effect and only caused a lot of unnecessary work. This is extremly concerning as all of these devices are running on a network, that extensively uses ethernet has the 1 gig fiber speeds, and state of the art Wi-Fi 6E routers. In addition the fact that the Homepod is marketed as a home hub and as a matter hub but clearly fails in achieving these things as could be expected from Apple and the previous great experiences had with the Apple TV. To further add, the IKEA Trådfri and Dirigera hub is supposed to specifically, is fully approved and supported to work with Homekit and matter (even though that doesn't matter that much in this case) and is a mass market home smart system. It's also clear that this is an issue that isn't isolated to my case but has been extensively discussed by other IKEA and Homekit users and has according to others been reported to both Apple and IKEA multiple times but they seem to have taken no action. After reading these posts, it seems like Apple isn't willing to let users choose a prefered home hub or disable the homepods functionality as a home hub. I really don't care how Apple might eventually fix this issue, but just do it as soon as possible as this really breaks the functionality of my smart home.

MacBook M1 Pro Sound keeps crashing when using HomePod mini
Hello everyone, I often study in my living room and connect to my 2 HomePod minis to listen to some music. I use a timer for studying (Be Focused App) and whenever a 30-minute interval is over some sound is playing to signal the end of the interval. This causes the sound of the MacBook M1 Pro to crash. Meaning when I try to access the Sound tab within the System Settings it just doesn't display anything. Either it only displays whatever has been displayed before (So if it was on the general tab before it'll just keep displaying the general tab's options) or it just shows a blank tab. The only steps that usually fix this after a couple of minutes are 1. Disconnect from the Wi-Fi, 2. force quit Apple Music, 3. re-connect to the Wi-Fi, 4. re-open Music Apple (usually still stuck and requires a second force quit + re-open), 5. then wait a while and sometimes it's working then. Do you have suggestions to fix this issue? I feel like the issue lies within the MacBook because streaming from the iPhone hasn't caused any issues so far. Cheers, J.

HomePod 16.4 beta
I have tried to use this beta twice and had to downgrade to 16.3.2 due to it would either not work at all or was so buggy was unusable. First upgrade was from the 16.3.2 to 16.4. It went very had. It appeared to install all just fine. It rebooted and never connected to wifi again. I even factory reset and attempted to setup again as new but still would never connect to a wifi network. I finally gave up after a few hours and restored again to 16.3.2 and all came back as it should working. So I attempted once more to upgrade to 16.4. This time it at least completed and seemed to reboot and work properly. Did not last long. It would work and not work. At times saying it could not talk to the internet. Reboot and work for 15 minutes and again the same. In the end I gave up and went back to 16.3.2 and will leave it there till maybe the next drop and see what happens.

Water quality homekit accessory category
Hi everyone, I made a TDS sensor for controlling a water quality in the aquarium and want to report values (and automate warnings) using homekit. I didn't find proper homekit accessory category for such a sensor - what would you recommend? The values coming from the sensor are in ppm (0-1000). I'm currently masquerading it as temp sensor, but it confuses other results in the Home.app. Any ideas?

Control automation HomeKit
Hi, I am currently working on a smart home prototype for our company using Apple Home Kit and later in this project we will use Matter. I am facing a problem with the automations. The product we are developing is a new version of a thermostat. The termostat itself is the "brain" and contains all control elements, like the time contol. This time control knows, when to start heating in order to achive the desired temperature at the selected time and continuously learns if it has to adapt the starting point. Is there a way to interact with the automations you can set in the home app? For example if the customer sets a time to power off the heater in the home app, the thermostat will know that there is a time set and imports this time and the other way around (the customer sets a time at the display of the thermostat and apple home will display this time in the automations tab)? I know it would be much easier to control time automation only in the home app, but I need to develop this for people who dont know much about the home app as well. They will be able to control everything at the thermostat itself. Thank you in advance for your help Franz

Missing characteristics for Irrigation system
When I configure a 'Sprinkler' type accessory (with an 'Irrigation system' service as the primary service) in the Homekit Simulator or when I create the same accessory in code using the HAP and then add that accessory to the home app, some characteristics are missing. For instance the switch for setting the accessory 'Active'(enabled) doesn't show. When I use third party apps (like Eve or Home+) everything works as expected.

HMErrorDomain code=76 always occurs when using MatterSupport api
Hi, I wanted to use MatterAddDeviceRequest api in MatterSupport. When I called api, system pop-up shows up and then right after tapping 'Add to @' button, pop-up always shows HMErrorDomain 76 error. I found this code in HomeKit.HMError case keychainSyncNotEnabled = 76 I wonder that enabling keychain sync is mandatory to use MatterAddDeviceRequest api? Or could you tell me why this error always occurs? Thanks!

Homepod mini problem
Hi, I have smart bulb, extension leads and lamp that are working with apple homekit. I also have homepod mini to help me switch them on and off. They were all on the home app. Until i have to remove them all and reset them all to re add them on home app as they stopped responding. Until it won’t work. i needed to restart and reinstall home app which made me remove all of it plus the homepod mini on my home app. Now trying to add them all up but my home app won’t set up back again. Despite hovering at phone. It just offering to play something but it won’t actually play. It says that it’s in the default room but i already reset and removed home several times. I also tried to reset by pressing the top and waiting for red light and beep as it was said online and it didn’t work. I also tried unplugging it, trying it through itunes but to no avail. I felt like i have exhausted everything and i don’t know if my homepod is still attached to my phone or somewhere in apple purgatory. LOL so everything looked like this now. I tried forgetting my wifi network and reconnecting, turning on and off my phone and even updating the latest iOS. I also tried logging in and out Apple Music cause siri on my homepod won’t do anything but it hears me and answers but does nit know who i am. I think my homepod mini had IT amnesia 🥺

HomePod selected as Apple TV default audio doesn’t work
I have Been struggling for few months now after buying a homepod to pair with my Apple TV. The problem is basically after setting the HomePod as the default audio output, it just simply keeps disconnecting and I get the screen attached with “try again” or select a different audio output. Trying again will make it work for few seconds (sometimes a minute) then it will disconnect again with the same error screen. It just keeps happening all the time. so far I have tried: resetting the Apple TV and Homepod to factory setting deleting the home and creating new home (in the home app) apple replaced the HomePod under warranty after bringing the issue to their attention. We have eliminated the possibility of a HomePod hardware issue I have purchased the new Apple TV (the latest one , with the silver remote) . Thus, eliminating an Apple TV hardware issue the problem could be replicated in apple store (using their own TV & their network) . thus eliminating a router or TV issue there has been few software updates and I’m on the latest (14.6) for both Apple TV and HomePod The issue still occurs. I can’t enjoy any movie or TV show for more than few seconds with The Homepod as the default Audio option. Apple support have run some diagnostics but haven’t got back to me yet. any thoughts ?
