OpenGL ES support on Apple Silicon Simulators
Hey folks, I have a legacy game that is running OpenGL ES - and it no longer works on the simulators that are running Apple Silicon, ie iPhone 15 Pro, or the 13" iPads. And yes, i'm also running on Apple Silicon (M1 Max). The apps work fine on the actual devices, but the simulator crashes on any glDrawElements with a stack that looks like the following: I have not yet seen an announcement about this not working but i've seen mention in other apps of stopping to support GL (https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre-native/issues/2351) Can anyone shed some light? I'm obviously going to try to fix it, or find a recent sample app from which to start to see what might be up. Or move to metal, but i hadn't bargained for that level of effort atm ;) Any suggestions appreciated!

Failed to prepare device
We are getting unreliable results on XCode Cloud tests. I'm not sure if it's related to the current service outage. I'm running a very simple XCTest UI suite, on some devices it succeds and it others it fails to start. I'm not getting a userful error message. MyApp-Runner encountered an error (Failed to prepare device 'iPhone 16 Pro Max' for impending launch. (Underlying Error: Unable to boot the Simulator. launchd failed to respond. (Underlying Error: Failed to start launchd_sim: could not bind to session, launchd_sim may have crashed or quit responding)))

Settings.bundle
Hello everyone, I have added a Settings.bundle to my Xcode project, but it does not appear in the iOS app settings. The file is correctly copied into the target, but nothing shows up in the settings. I have already checked and tried several things, but without success. What I've tried so far: Ensuring that Settings.bundle is included in the project: Settings.bundle is listed under Build Phases → Copy Bundle Resources. Checking the structure of Root.plist: The file exists and has the following structure: Checking the structure of Root.plist -it has Checking if the file is included in the app -it is Restarting the simulator and reinstalling the app I reset the simulator and reinstalled the app completely, but the issue persists.

XCode Components fail to download
Summary: XCode components (eg. iOS Simulator Runtime, tvOS Simulator Runtime, predictive code completion model) fail to download / install. I have tried to self-service this issue as much as possible before posting. Description of Problem: In XCode, I am unable to install predictive code completion model. Troubleshooting already performed: I have tried uninstalling + reinstalling XCode and XCode-beta several times. I have tried deleting ~/Libraries/Developer multiple times I believe I am logged into XCode and OSX with my developer Apple account. Not sure how to verify if XCode is using this account during the download attempt. I have tried reinstalling OSX. Previously it was stuck at 15.0.0, but reinstalling got the newest minor+revision version to 15.3.1. I have followed the manual steps: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/downloading-and-installing-additional-xcode-components I am able to manually download the components components from Apple Developer Downloads: https://developer.apple.com/download/all/ (The download works and is quick, so I don't believe this is a network issue) There is PLENTY of drive space available (eg. 100s of GBs) As this is a laptop, I tried disabling energy saving mode. It is running on AC power. Additional Relevant facts: Very strangely, I was able to download an iPhone 16e supplemental component Network adapter: WiFi. Internet connection: Comcast / XFinity cable DNS resolver: tried using default for my network and tried switching to other public DNS including 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 I tried looking in Settings > Privacy and Settings, Settings > Network for app-specific permissions / firewall settings, but I don't believe any are applied. I'm not running sudo when I start up XCode.

There is no way to test iOS 17-compatible app in a simulator?
The only iOS 17 target available in Xcode 16.2's build settings appears to be iOS 17.6. But there are no simulators (at least that I can find) with anything beyond iOS 17.5. Therefore you can't test on iOS 17 with a simulator, because none will show as a deployment target. What is the expected course of action here? I'm sure there are many cases where developers need to test on iOS 17, but in mine I need to test the new framework for accessing a user's contacts; it has changed significantly, and I need to make sure it degrades gracefully on iOS 17. I'm not inclined to make my application inaccessible to 20% of the user base.

Simulator Location Authorization Issue: Authorization Status Remains notDetermined After Denying and Changing in System Settings
Hello everyone, I'm encountering a strange location authorization issue in the iOS simulator, and I'm hoping someone can help me analyze it. Problem Description: When my app runs for the first time in the simulator, it requests location permissions. I select "Deny" for the authorization. Then, I go to the simulator's "Settings" -> "Privacy & Security" -> "Location Services" and enable location permissions for my app. However, when I return to the app, CLLocationManager.authorizationStatus still returns .notDetermined, and the authorization request pop-up does not appear again. This issue persists even after resetting the simulator settings multiple times. import CoreLocation @Observable final class LocationManager: NSObject, CLLocationManagerDelegate { var locationManager = CLLocationManager() var currentLocation: CLLocationCoordinate2D? override init() { super.init() locationManager.delegate = self } func locationManagerDidChangeAuthorization(_ manager: CLLocationManager) { let status = manager.authorizationStatus print("Authorize Status: \(status)") switch status { case .authorizedWhenInUse, .authorizedAlways: locationManager.startUpdatingLocation() case .denied, .restricted: stopLocation() case .notDetermined: locationManager.requestWhenInUseAuthorization() print("Location permission not determined.") @unknown default: break } } func requestLocation() { let status = locationManager.authorizationStatus if status == .authorizedWhenInUse || status == .authorizedAlways { locationManager.requestLocation() } else { locationManager.requestWhenInUseAuthorization() } } func locationManager(_ manager: CLLocationManager, didUpdateLocations locations: [CLLocation]) { guard let newLocation = locations.first else { return } currentLocation = newLocation.coordinate print("Updated location: \(newLocation.coordinate)") } func locationManager(_ manager: CLLocationManager, didFailWithError error: Error) { print("Location update failed with error: \(error.localizedDescription)") currentLocation = nil } func stopLocation() { locationManager.stopUpdatingLocation() print("Stopped updating location") } }

Inconsistent behavior across different test environments and simulators
I'm working on Apple Watch UI tests and have noticed different results between local and Xcode Cloud environments. I tested all cases locally, and they worked fine. However, when running the tests on Xcode Cloud, some issues caused them to fail: The test requires clicking a button to display the built-in keyboard, but on Xcode Cloud, the keyboard never appears, no matter how long I wait. The app unexpectedly closes during testing, displaying the error message: "Failed to launch application {Your app} is not running." These failures occurred on two different simulator destinations (Ultra 49mm 11.2 / Series 7 45mm 11.2) and can only be reproduced on specific simulators. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

App Tracking Transparency permission request iPadOS 18.3.1.
I implemented AppTrackingTransparency framework but Apple is rejecting the review because it seems the request is failing on iPadOS 18.3.1. which seems rare since it is working on all other devices. Has anyone faced the same issue? I have tested this in a physical iPhone with IOS 18.3.1 and in several devices using Xcode runtime simulator including iPad and iPhone in different IOS versions up to 18.2 (which I understand is the latest available in Xcode). The problem is that 18.3.1 runtime simulator is not available yet. Does anyone have more information when it will be available or what to do in these cases?

Unkown photos were added to my iPhone Photo App.
There are several unknown pictures were added to my iPhone Photos. I'm developing a iOS app in swiftUI. And I'm sure that neither my developing app asked a permission to save photos to iOS device, nor these pictures are taken by myself, downloaded from the web, or synced from my iCloud. Why does this happen? Is my account or my iPhone attacked or hacked? btw, my device has turned the debug mode on, will this setting option would leads some vulnerability or some debug tools would add photos to my albums? The attached pictures are the unknown photos in my Photos App. I'v search this photo with google. And I found that many developers in stack overflow use this picture when they encounter troubles with image display or other manipulation. Where where are this photo come from? Why does it exist in my Photo albums?

Cannot launch simulated executable: no file found at /Applications/Warenwirtschaft.app
Option to download SDK Seperatly.
Hey Guys , I think forcing people to download Simulator along side SDK will increase hude download size, is not a good experience for developers. Make simulator download optional and you can keep it ticked by default inside (Settings/Components/IOS XX.X Support) for beginner developers , but for advanced developer there should be option to untick it and reduce huge download size. If it doesn't result in huge download size, then we have took a wrong turn somewhere.

Unincluded dependencies failing to build for watchOS companion app.
When trying to use the watchOS preview the simulator fails to load and throws about 15 errors. Clearly the simulator is trying to load all of the iOS packages to the watchOS simulator. However, these packages clearly aren't included in the watchOS app. Furthermore, both apps build successfully to the main simulators, just not the previews. Having a list of errors that simply should not be there is a pretty big annoyance when something is going wrong. How do I fix this?

Simulator crash Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGKILL) WatchDog: 0x8BADF00D
Hello, My app often crashes when I use simulators. I would like some help with reading the crash report that is generated. Especially with the part below Thread 0 Crashed. Based on other posts I understand that the 0x8BADF00D in the crash report is a WatchDog crash that basically says that WatchDog terminated the app because the main thread was blocked for a significant time. Many processes can block the main thread so it's hard to find out what it is in our specific case. Can someone help me reading through the crash report? Short_crash_report.txt Background information The application is Xamarin Native and I use Rider as an IDE. When I use Visual Studio, the simulators run just fine. No crash occurs while using my app on a device. The crash happens on multiple simulators with different OS versions. I already deleted XCode cache, erased content and settings of several simulators and deleted iOS DeviceSupport files.

Force quit apps on Vision Pro simulator
How do you force quit apps on the Vision Pro simulator? I've read online you can double press the digital crown on a real Vision Pro device but there is no such button on the simulator. So far I've tried Pressing the home button twice (⇧⌘H) Pressing the Siri button twice (⌥⇧⌘H) None of them works I'm on Xcode 15.0 beta 5 (15A5209g) & visionOS 1.0 beta 2 (21N5207e)
