I have been working on adding a badge number count to my app, but have run into a really weird edge case. If I have a badge number on my app, delete the application and then re-install it, the badge number still persists on the app icon until I first open the app. I tried looking to see if there is a lifecycle method that is triggered upon uninstalling an app as well as if there is a specific userDefaults attribute to check in order to clear the badge, but I can't find any clear solutions. Does anyone know of a fix to this issue?

There is one xpc server and two xpc clients (clientA and clientB). When clientB sends a message to the xpc server, xpc server fills a value for dummyString in it's memory and I want clientA to know that dummyString got updated and also the new value for this dummyString. The updation of dummyString is not something that happens often.
Two options we tried:
Have a timer for 5 seconds in clientA and keep polling and request for the value of this dummyString.
Setup a darwin notification in server that gets posted whenever dummyString is being updated. clientA receives requests for dummyString value only when it observes a notification being posted.
Which of these two approaches causes the least delay for clientA to know the updated value of dummyString?

Our web service sends token-based push notifications directly to the Apple Push server.

We have never installed any certificates for using APNs.
Do we need to take any action regarding this message, or can we ignore it?

As we are using firebase for receiving notifications and azure notification hub, I read that there is nothing we as developers need to do and will be handled by the providers right?
Hi) we have two ios apps in same Firebase project - with different apple bundle ids. One of them had connected APNS with Firebase and everything had worked perfectly - push notifications where delivered every time. But recently we occationaly put same APNS to other our Firebase's ios app and as result we lost all pushes - on both app. After deletion APNS from both of them and reconnecting APNS to app with proper apple bundle id push notifications didn't start to work.

My app will be woken when Activity.pushToStartTokenUpdates delivered the new token.
But I want to know how can I get the activity.pushTokenUpdates when my server start an live activity via push notification, because without the activity.pushTokenUpdates, my server can't deliver update information after start the live activity.

I've got an app with several app extensions (call extension, action extension, notification service extension, message filtering extension, notification content extension).
If I need to interactively debug these then I can select the scheme and run the extension within Xcode for all of them except for the notification content extension, with that I get an error dialog summary saying:
Failed to install the app on the device / The provided item to be installed is not of a type that CoreDevice recognizes.

Why can I not run the notification content extension, when I can run any other type of app extension?

there is a issue that iOS background NFC scanning will only provide a notification result, It need user click to enter my APP, can I have any method to enter my APP directly without user action ?
Does iOS provide a callback when a notification is manually removed from the notification tray ?

I am facing an issue with remote notifications in my iOS app. When the app is in a terminated (kill) state, notifications are successfully received by the device, but none of the app's handlers (like _firebaseMessagingBackgroundHandler in Flutter) are invoked. This is impacting our ability to process silent notifications or perform background tasks reliably when the app is not running.
Steps to reproduce:
Send a remote notification with content-available: 1 in the payload.
Confirm the notification is received by the device while the app is in kill mode.
Observe that no background or foreground notification methods are triggered in the app.
Expected Behavior: The app should invoke the background handler to process the notification payload, even in a terminated state.
Observed Behavior: The notification is delivered to the device, but no app-level processing occurs because none of the methods are triggered.
Can you please confirm if this is the intended behavior due to iOS limitations, or if there is a configuration or alternative solution to allow background handlers to execute in such scenarios? Any guidance or clarification would be highly appreciated.

Just triple-checking if it's only my Apple Watch Series 8 where the weather widget in the notification area is only showing 'WNW.' I think it's supposed to be showing the weekdays or the temperature.

I received an update to the APN root certificate. Testing the connection using MDM.pem to the push environment returned the following error:BadCertificateEnvironment

We currently are checking to see if we need to make modifications to account for the new Certification Authority (CA) for APNs that will be changing soon. Since we currently use the newer token-based connection to APNs and not the certificate-based connection, would we be unaffected by this change?

I'm encountering an unexpected issue in my app since upgrading to iOS 18, and I’m wondering if anyone has found a solution or workaround.
The Problem: The userNotificationCenter(:willPresent:withCompletionHandler:) method is being triggered twice whenever a push notification arrives while the app is in the foreground. Additionally, application(:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:) is also being triggered once during the same notification event.
This redundant triggering is causing inconsistent behavior and double-processing of notifications, which is obviously problematic for my use case. The exact flow looks like this:
userNotificationCenter(:willPresent:withCompletionHandler:) — called twice.
application(:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:) — called once.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior specifically in iOS 18? Is this a known issue with the new version? This issue is affecting how we handle notifications in a major way, and I’m hoping there's a more fundamental fix or explanation for this behavior in iOS 18.
I got a notification that the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. Does this affect the push service for Apple Wallet passes or just for apps? I have a push service for Apple Wallet passes but no service for apps. I don't use push notification service for anything other than for Apple Wallet Pass push notifications, not at all for apps. Is there anything I need to do or is this not relevant to my situation?
If it does, what do I need to change in order to make sure my service still works? Do I just replace the certificate? Is there a standard path where it would live on the server?
I'm sure this is a simple thing, but it's been over a decade since I wrote the push service so I'm pretty rusty.
The Apple subscription production environment receives notifications, but the same notification address successfully receives them only for sandbox payments.
