What restrictions does didReceiveRemoteNotification have when the app is started in background by the system?
I previously posted a topic about receiving application(_:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:) callback when my app is not running, and the system starts the app in the background to respond to a notification. While I receive the callback reliably, the work performed by the callback seems to have different restrictions whether the app is in the background or not running. When the app is running in the background, the work started in this callback completes reliably (in my case it takes no more than a few seconds), and I can post the result back to the system via the completion handler. When the app is not running and the system starts it in the background, the app starts the same work, but this work seems to be terminated quickly without being able to complete, and without me being able to call the completion handler passed to the callback. I’m not talking about 30 seconds - the termination seems to happen after less than a second, which is not enough for my app. The nature of the work shouldn’t matter, but just in case: I start a Task in the callback for some asynchronous work, which stores the completion handler, and calls back to it when the work is finished. This happens completely reliably when the app is running in the background, and not at all reliably when the app is not running and is started by the system. Why would application(_:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:) behave differently based on if it is ran when the app is already running, vs not running and started by the system? Is there anything I can do on my side to make it more reliable?

Broadcast Push Notifications - Update ignored
I want to update my lockscreen LiveActivity via Broadcast Push Notification, but updating always fails - but ending always works. Payload with "update" is completely ignored: {"aps":{"timestamp":1685952000,"event":"update","content-state":{"currentSlotName":"Debug1","nextSlotName":"Debug2"}}} Same payload with "end" works, the view is refreshed with the new content-state: {"aps":{"timestamp":1685952000,"event":"end","content-state":{"currentSlotName":"Debug1","nextSlotName":"Debug2"}}} Via the MacOS Console I am able to see that both events happen to end up on the device. I am sending these Broadcast Push Notifications via Apple's Push Notifications Console.

Now when I made the purchase from live app, my server did not receive any notification even though the production url was the same as the sandbox url. The purchase was for a consumable product. APNs certificate authority?
I manage apps and servers on behalf of several customers. Recently they all started getting a message from Apple that says, "The Certification Authority for APNs is changing". I don't understand how or if this affects me. My servers are all hosted on Amazon EC2 instances. I have never had to install any specific certificate for APNs to work. Is this new CA something that I can expect my servers to receive automatically as part of their system updates? If not, how do I install it?

Local notification not working with ios app installed
I have an iOS and watchOS app where both can run independently, I am not using WatchConnectivity to send data back and fourth. The issue I'm having is that if I schedule a local notification on the watch and the phone is unlocked, it will not show on the watch for about 10-15 seconds. If I uninstall the iOS app or have the phone locked, it will show immediately on the watch. To my understanding, this is somewhat the expected functionality but is there a way to bypass it? My app is a timer app and it really should not have a delay.

Notification Service Extension Not Triggering for Push Notifications on iOS
I have integrated a Notification Service Extension in my app to handle rich push notifications with images. The issue occurs on iOS 15 and iOS 18 devices—while the text content of the notification shows, the image is not displayed. However, the rich push notification works fine on other iOS versions (e.g. iOS 16, iOS 17) I’ve tried the following steps: Verified App Groups are the same for both the main app and the extension. Checked the "mutable-content" flag in the notification payload. Added a print statement in the NotificationService.swift to check if it’s running. It doesn’t appear in the Xcode logs. I’ve tried using Attach to Process in Xcode, but nothing happens. The app is installed on a real device, and I’m testing with push notifications when the app is in the background.

Apple Push Notification service server certificate update
Regarding the latest news from apple below. I am not able to understand what exactly needs to be done. I can download RSA certificate from the link given but to include it in Trust store is something i am not able to get. can someone help me out here? " The Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs will update the server certificates in sandbox on January 20, 2025, and in production on February 24, 2025. All developers using APNs will need to update their application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root : USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid push notification delivery failures, please make sure that both old and new server certificates are included in the Trust Store before the cut-off date for each of your application servers that connect to sandbox and production. At this time, you don’t need to update the APNs SSL provider certificates issued to you by Apple."

ANCS
After a prolonged BLE connection, we have noticed that ANCS frequently pushes a large number of "remove" messages (event ID 0x02), after which the device no longer receives any notifications. Is this behavior a result of system design, or could it be a potential bug? I would appreciate any insights or experiences that others can share.

`InvalidProviderToken` when trying to send push notification to second app
I am using a Key to connect my notification server with APNS in order to send out notifications to users. I have recently added notifications to a second app of mine, using the same notification server to fire off notifications for both apps. However, any notifications going to the second app return the error InvalidProviderToken, where as I get no such issues when send notifications to the first app. Everything, including the payloads, are exactly the same between the two apps, the only difference is that the device IDs are attached to different apps. Does anyone know why/how this would happen and how I can resolve it?

Push Notifications after update to 18+ iOS
Dear Apple Engineer, We have problem in the banking application after update iOS to 18, 18.1 or 18.1.1. No notifications appear on the locked screen, even in the notification center. On lower version push notifications apparently correctly. What have we checked so far is: certificates profiles app with push notifications extension and without it usage of setBadgeCount(_:withCompletionHandler:) instead of applicationIconBadgeNumber Our sample payload with encrypted data: { "aps":{ "alert":"Message from Bank", "badge":0, "sound":"default", "mutable-content":1, "category":"" }, "Type":"", "MessageId":"", "Id":"8ebf0c13-83cf-4029-ac13-91d026c3770a", "Media-url":"", "alternativeTitle":"New message", "priority":5, "EncryptedData":"eyJ0eXAiOiJibTplbmMtdjEiLCJhbGciOiJibTppb3MtZWNkaCIsImVuYyI6ImJtOkExMjhHQ00tSVYxNiIsImVuY19raWQiOiI5OUIyN0E4NC1CQzRFLTRGMzQtQjBGNC0yMTcyMEYxQTFEN0EifQ...BDdxycY-ZWPC7BgI_07efVSgjKyGyGVKlcNtZSslWJePrwJkJyIxFBr07XtayB0I2jv6Vc8AdUpdvMJ-daVzkPYMZ7pQA_X0Pg8RPRS2GnPkhyhK3XNkLRMsjG6CkSafYaqSeLMEpdF2Q-QkajvO3ojnRl1C-Bp9FpNbeaCwJXwqjEMKKhggRsKH8zdk7XcYhZX5_hARbBkIFLrCX1Xzyypp_PfZ23v9Pbd8aHmAf7FQdYN6xbfyoL5XEaDrCjGi-up2n1nlcTeEfkXHBunitUzQulmrjo86GJS0ldhF0mEMZ3_t6ObbjeKijYExMeYHxeCe89Yg10TvZI6kP4xizpJijG9cz75X3VI3I4SgeR8BuZRcb5eTQKWWzGW7u6LD1QtV3PWFCtv942CSz62kPPo-dD0248Fqm5HwxZejQSrZKjYQQ87dkzB0q7p2Q_M0z2Y-bRfNRXJl8VaF5X6-2KwLq47zwrQYUIcEHdag3J05X0SzBiImAdbh2zQz074QqEEpoU1F6C89LHKFxAw", "IsSigned":false } What do you need to analyze the problem? Identifiers, sample application? Best regards, Michał iOS Developer.

Only the last notification is being delivered
Good morning all! We are facing a specific case dealing with push notifications to iOS devices. In my scenario: I turn off my device's internet Send multiple push notifications via server using Firebase. I turned ON my device's internet again. I only see the last push notification I sent. This is an expected scenario? There is any documentation that supports this statement? Thank you all!

Delayed App Store Server Notification(V2) for Subscription Purchase
We experienced an issue with delayed App Store Server notifications for an Auto-Renewable Subscription purchase in our app. On September 27, 2024, at 22:28:28 GMT+0900, a user successfully purchased a Premium membership subscription (transaction ID: 190002223966278, webOrderLineItemId: 190001007274949). However, our server did not receive the corresponding App Store notification for this transaction after purchase. The App Store Server Notification was only received 66 minutes later, at 23:35:16 (transaction ID: 190002224000004, webOrderLineItemId: 190001007274949). The delayed notification contained a different transaction ID than the initial purchase. We would like to inquire about the cause of this delay and request assistance in understanding why the notification took 66 minutes to be delivered to our server, instead of arriving immediately after the transaction was completed. Additionally, we would appreciate your guidance on how to prevent or mitigate such delays in the future, ensuring a seamless experience for our users. Are there any best practices or recommended approaches we should implement to handle potential notification delays more effectively? We have provided detailed information about the received notification and the related transactions in the Feedback Assistant (FB15330451). Thank you for your assistance in resolving this matter. Key Details Purchase time: 2024-09-27T22:28:28 GMT+0900 (1727443708000) Notification received: 2024-09-27T23:35:16 GMT+0900 (1727447716463) Delay: 66 minutes and 48 seconds Initial Purchase Transaction ID: 190002223966278 Initial Purchase Web Order Line Item ID: 190001007274949 Transaction ID in Delayed Notification: 190002224000004 Web Order Line Item ID in Delayed Notification: 190001007274949 Additional info Bundle ID: com.reppley.ReppleyApp SKU: com.reppley.ReppleyApp Feedback Assistant Number: FB15330451

Sandbox push server down again?
Over the past few weeks I've seen several people mention pushes sent via the sandbox haven't been getting delivered. Today I'm also seeing that (though pushes sent via production are fine). So it would appear to be down again. What's going on recently, any reason it's so unstable these last few weeks?

Implement UNUserNotificationCenterDelegate in iOS app using Swift6
I've got a problem with compatibility with Swift6 in iOS app that I have no idea how to sort it out. That is an extract from my main app file @MainActor @main struct LangpadApp: App { ... @State private var notificationDataProvider = NotificationDataProvider() @UIApplicationDelegateAdaptor(NotificationServiceDelegate.self) var notificationServiceDelegate var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { TabView(selection: $tabSelection) { ... } .onChange(of: notificationDataProvider.dateId) { oldValue, newValue in if !notificationDataProvider.dateId.isEmpty { tabSelection = 4 } } } } init() { notificationServiceDelegate.notificationDataProvider = notificationDataProvider } } and the following code shows other classes @MainActor final class NotificationServiceDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate, UNUserNotificationCenterDelegate { var notificationDataProvider: NotificationDataProvider? func application(_ application: UIApplication, didFinishLaunchingWithOptions launchOptions: [UIApplication.LaunchOptionsKey : Any]? = nil) -> Bool { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = self return true } func setDateId(dateId: String) { if let notificationDataProvider = notificationDataProvider { notificationDataProvider.dateId = dateId } } nonisolated func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, didReceive response: UNNotificationResponse) async { // After user pressed notification let content = response.notification.request.content if let dateId = content.userInfo["dateId"] as? String { await MainActor.run { setDateId(dateId: dateId) } } } nonisolated func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, willPresent notification: UNNotification) async -> UNNotificationPresentationOptions { // Before notification is to be shown return [.sound, .badge, .banner, .list] } } @Observable final public class NotificationDataProvider : Sendable { public var dateId = "" } I have set Strict Concurrency Checking to 'Complete.' The issue I'm facing is related to the delegate class method, which is invoked after the user presses the notification. Current state causes crash after pressing notification. If I remove "nonisolated" keyword it works fine but I get the following warning Non-sendable type 'UNNotificationResponse' in parameter of the protocol requirement satisfied by main actor-isolated instance method 'userNotificationCenter(_:didReceive:)' cannot cross actor boundary; this is an error in the Swift 6 language mode I have no idea how to make it Swift6 compatible. Does anyone have any clues?

How can I be notified when my app is in foreground and server start an live activity by push notification
My app will be woken when Activity.pushToStartTokenUpdates delivered the new token. But I want to know how can I get the activity.pushTokenUpdates when my server start an live activity via push notification, because without the activity.pushTokenUpdates, my server can't deliver update information after start the live activity. For now, I check the activities when my app switch foreground/background. But how can I be notified when my app is in foreground and server start an live activity by push notification. I've tried "content-available": 1 in LA's payload aps, but I also can't be notified in the didReceiveRemoteNotification in appDelegate.
