Cannot run apps that use the callAsyncJavaScript() method on older simulators
If I use the method callAsyncJavaScript() my app will compile, but it won't run on older simulators. Specifically, in a brand new Storyboard project, I added this to `viewDidLoad(): let webView = WKWebView() webView.callAsyncJavaScript("1", in: nil, in: .page) { result in print("\(result)") } This runs fine with Xcode 16.3 targeting the iOS 18.4 simulator. It doesn't work if I target the iOS 18.3.1 simulator or the iOS 17.5 simulator. It does work on an iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18.4 and it works on an iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 17.7.1. It goes without saying that this used to work on Xcode 16.2 and earlier, since my real project has been using that API for 3 or 4 years now. The specific error is dyld[89984]: Symbol not found: _$sSo9WKWebViewC6WebKitE19callAsyncJavaScript_9arguments2inAF17completionHandlerySS_SDySSypGSo11WKFrameInfoCSgSo14WKContentWorldCys6ResultOyyps5Error_pGcSgtF Referenced from: <82CC68A8-9426-343E-82CD-5443F53A6919> /Users/dave/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/69CE58A3-8162-4616-B110-5857E6E2889F/data/Containers/Bundle/Application/3F27AAA0-8E96-437D-A1F4-DECD2E1A95B5/CallAsyncJavascript.app/CallAsyncJavascript.debug.dylib Expected in: <E11EC0F5-2AD1-3402-AB03-31A85EA6EB3A> /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_21F79/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 17.5.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/WebKit

ERROR: Unrecognized attribute string flag '?' in attribute string "T@"NSString",?,R,C" for property debugDescription
Hello, I'm seeing many errors like this in the Xcode debug console when I build and run my app: ERROR: Unrecognized attribute string flag '?' in attribute string "T@"NSString",?,R,C" for property debugDescription The app project makes heavy use of Logger(), and I suspect it is related to that logging in some way, but I haven't been able to narrow down the issue to specific log calls. I have Category, Subsystem and Timestamp enabled in the Xcode console, but none of those are displayed for this output. What causes this? Or how can I better narrow down the source?

SwiftData/ModelCoders.swift:1762: Fatal error: Passed nil for a non-optional keypath
I updated today at Xcode 16 beta 6, and my app using SwiftData on iOS 18 (beta 6) is getting now this new error when saving the model in the modelContext. I don't understand if it is a regression introduced in the beta 6 or if it is enforced something that previously wasn't. It seems to be always referred to the ID property, for example: SwiftData/ModelCoders.swift:1762: Fatal error: Passed nil for a non-optional keypath \MyModel.id In this case (and in most of the cases in my models) the ID is defined as following @Attribute(.unique) public var id: UUID I also tried to add the initialization inline, but didn't help @Attribute(.unique) public var id: UUID = .init() I also tried to remove the @Attribute(.unique), didn't help as well. Does any of you have the same issue?

Xcode 26 Beta 2 Storyboard Compile failures
I'm playing whack-a-mole with trying to get my project to compile. It's a mixture of SwiftUI and UIKit and I'm getting random storyboard compile failures: Command CompileStoryboard failed with a nonzero exit code If I open the storyboard in question, it spins for a while and then appears. I try to compile again and typically a different one fails. Once and a while I can actually get a build to complete. Anyone else having this issue or know of a workaround?

Intermittent "internal error" with multiple XIBs in Xcode 26.0 beta 2 (17A5241o)
On several different XIBs I get a compiler error like Internal error. Please file a bug at feedbackassistant.apple.com and attach "/var/folders/1v/ 516am8h11fzbmdy9sh r1znh0000an/T/|B-adent-diagnostics 2025-06-30 15-02-36 468000" W These XIBs were unmodified, the only different was the Xcode version they were compiled against. Any suggestions for a fix, workaround, or troubleshooting? I tried restarting Xcode, restarting macOS, cleaning the build, and deleting derived data.

On Log Noise - Debugging
I came across several "errors" being reported when I run my app, however my app seems to function correctly. I believe they fall in the category listed on this ( now locked ) thread https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/115461 However, I wanted to post the ones I found to clarify ( close to submission) just in case any of these end up being more than just log noise later. PLEASE let me know if you've come across these before and whether they impacted anything or if you can confirm they are just log noise. Thanks in advance! -[RTIInputSystemClient remoteTextInputSessionWithID:performInputOperation:] perform input operation requires a valid sessionID. inputModality = Keyboard, inputOperation = , customInfoType = UIEmojiSearchOperations AVAudioSession_iOS.mm:2,223 Server returned an error from destroySession:. LLDB error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename
All is fine in Xcode15, no LLDB errors whatsoever, but in Xcode16 I can't get any variable displayed in the console because of the following error: error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename "$......." was not found (cached) error: Couldn't realize Swift AST type of self. Hint: using `v` to directly inspect variables and fields may still work. I've checked the output of swift-healthcheck and there are several messages like this: SwiftASTContextForExpressions(module: "ROA", cu: "ROA+ViewLayer.swift")::LoadOneModule() -- Missing Swift module or Clang module found for "UIKit", "imported" via SwiftDWARFImporterDelegate. Hint: Register Swift modules with the linker using -add_ast_path. I added -add_ast_path to the OTHER_LDFLAGS in the faulty module's build settings but no luck. How can I debug my project in Xcode16?

Open app review crashlog .txt file in Xcode 13
Got emailed three .txt crash files. Cannot for the life of me figure out how to get Xcode to do something with them. Tried: renaming .txt to .crash Dropping onto "devices and simulators" window Dropping on to "devices and simulators > select device > View device logs" "Download debug symbols" for the archive in Xcode (says "dowloaded debug symbols" so did it) ... and many other things Xcode 13 simply refuses to respond to the drag-and-drop of the file no matter the file extension and no matter where in Xcode's various windows/tools I drop it. Has anyone done this with a crash .txt file from app review and Xcode 13?

Sharing files from Finder to Simulator doesn't work
I'm trying to copy some files from the Finder on macOS 14 to several Simulator instances running iOS 16 and 17. When I right-click the file in the Finder, I can select Share > Simulator, then a share dialog pops up where I select the relevant Simulator and click on Send. According to this official help topic, the Files app should open allowing me to choose the destination, but instead nothing happens and the shared file is nothing to be seen. What's the issue?

XCframeworks with arm64e slices on Xcode 26
I have a XCFramework which contains slices for both arm64 and arm64e binaries, but some of my apps are only built for arm64. Prior to Xcode 26, this was not an issue, despite the binary in Frameworks folder still containing the arm64e slice. But now with Xcode 26 I get several errors when uploading to the Appstore: Validation failed Inconsistent arm64e support. The main bundle 'HackerNews.app' does not support arm64e. Verify that the all of the targets including [HackerNews.app/Frameworks/Sentry.framework] have consistent support for arm64e. (ID: 542eb011-2689-47fe-a5d5-d043342820a8) Validation failed Invalid architecture. The iOS 17.4 SDK or later is required for an arm64e slice. The bundle executable in “HackerNews.app/Frameworks/Sentry.framework” contains an arm64e slice with the iOS 17.2 SDK. (ID: 60f2cb75-e4be-4583-bebd-36d119275419) Is this intended behavior with Xcode 26?

iOS 18 Simulator Crash on Xcode 26: Symbol not found: _NSUserActivityTypeBrowsingWeb
Hi, When launching my app on the iOS 18 simulator using Xcode 26 beta, the app crashes immediately with a missing symbol error: dyld[23801]: Symbol not found: _NSUserActivityTypeBrowsingWeb Referenced from: <DDBF5C50-BD0E-34C7-B202-888033A93840> /Users/username/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/058F6615-9288-4164-8736-53CBC962FFD4/data/Containers/Bundle/Application/95B984C9-3197-423C-860C-E714BA34ACCB/MyApp.app/MyApp.debug.dylib Expected in: <443671DB-41AE-3963-8403-E4A484837405> /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/CoreServices Symbol not found: _NSUserActivityTypeBrowsingWeb Referenced from: <DDBF5C50-BD0E-34C7-B202-888033A93840> /Users/username/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/058F6615-9288-4164-8736-53CBC962FFD4/data/Containers/Bundle/Application/95B984C9-3197-423C-860C-E714BA34ACCB/MyApp.app/MyApp.debug.dylib Expected in: <443671DB-41AE-3963-8403-E4A484837405> /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/CoreServices dyld config: DYLD_SHARED_CACHE_DIR=/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Caches/dyld/24F74/com.apple.CoreSimulator.SimRuntime.iOS-18-0.22A3351/ DYLD_ROOT_PATH=/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Users/username/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-dqwvveywparbascmmycuqktsiopv/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator:/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/usr/lib/system/introspection DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/usr/lib/libLogRedirect.dylib:/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/usr/lib/libBacktraceRecording.dylib:/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/usr/lib/libMainThreadChecker.dylib:/usr/lib/libRPAC.dylib:/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/usr/lib/libViewDebuggerSupport.dylib:/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GPUToolsCapture.framework/GPUToolsCapture DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH=/Users/username/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-dqwvveywparbascmmycuqktsiopv/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator DYLD_FALLBACK_FRAMEWORK_PATH=/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH=/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_22A3351/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 18.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/ Notes: I have only tested on the iOS 18 simulator so far. I have not yet tested on earlier iOS versions or physical devices. The app runs fine on iOS 26 simulator using Xcode 26, so the crash seems specific to the iOS 18 simulator. This looks like a system symbol that may not be linked properly in the iOS 18 simruntime. Is this a known issue with the iOS 18 SDK or simulator runtime in Xcode 26 beta? Thanks!

Xcode 16 build fail issue - method does not override method from its superclass
When overriding the following seek functions in a custom subclass of AVPlayerItem, a "method does not override method from its superclass" error occurs, causing the build to fail. This issue only happens after updating to Xcode 16. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avfoundation/avplayeritem/seek(to:completionhandler:)-91gnw https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avfoundation/avplayeritem/seek(to:tolerancebefore:toleranceafter:completionhandler:) (This error disappears 3 seconds after the build fails or temporarily disappears when the function's position in the file is changed.)

Widget Extension scheme causes "failed to find valid container bundle" errors when ran
I've got a macOS app with a Widget Extension. When I try to run the scheme attached to this extension, WidgetKit Simulator "unexpectedly quits" and I get plenty of errors such as the ones below, that do not seem to be at all linked with the purpose nor the functionalities explicitly used by the app (nor the extension). That's what I get in Xcode's console: com.apple.siri.AssistantSettingsControls failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/AssistantSettingsControlsExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/AssistantSettingsControlsExtension.appex com.apple.settings-intents.LoginItemsIntents failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/LoginItemsIntentsExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/LoginItemsIntentsExtension.appex com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.SoftwareUpdateSettingsWidget failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/SoftwareUpdateSettingsWidgetExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/SoftwareUpdateSettingsWidgetExtension.appex com.apple.settings-intents.PrinterScannerIntents failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/PrinterScannerIntentsExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/PrinterScannerIntentsExtension.appex com.apple.settings-intents.WallpaperIntents failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/WallpaperIntentsExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/WallpaperIntentsExtension.appex com.apple.settings-intents.ScreenSaverIntents failed to find valid container bundle for file:///System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/ScreenSaverIntentsExtension.appex/ at /System/Library/ExtensionKit/Extensions/ScreenSaverIntentsExtension.appex In the error log (Console crash logs), the error description: Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x000000010428507c Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 5 Trace/BPT trap: 5 Terminating Process: exc handler [31252] I have observed that even if I try creating a new blank project and add a Widget Extension (keeping everything default) and try to run the scheme, I end up (after setting IDEPreferLogStreaming to YES in the environment variables) with the exact same errors. What is the issue? How can I fix it?

Xcode 16.0 and 16.1 regression: only allows .scn files to be added to .scnassets group
There is a significant regression in Xcode 16.0 and 16.1 (16B5014f) in that it no longer allows asset files other than .SCN files to be added to a .scnasset group and folder. This really wrecks our ability to maintain our app since we heavily depend on additional assets like .USDZ, .JPEG, .PNG, etc. files to be able to be included in the group for on-demand resource tagging and loading. I filed FB15239224 but I'm wondering if this is intentional and if anyone knows of a workaround.
