iOS16 and iOS17 were fine, but on iOS18, our Safari extension that blocks content via static rulesets randomly stops working. Frequently, when a tab is left in the background for a long time (i.e. hours), the content blocker will stop working (until I either kill safari, or reload the extension). I've debugged this and the background.js script reports the ruleset as being loaded, but nevertheless, our rules aren't applied. I really don't think that it's an issue with the way that the rules are defined, since iOS16 and iOS17 worked fine, and on iOS18, the rules DO work. They just stop working after a while. We’re seeing an issue in our Safari Web Extension where not all cookies from the Set-Cookie response header are accessible. We are using macOS 15.4 and Safari 18.4. In the webRequest.onHeadersReceived callback, the Set-Cookie header returned by Safari only includes some of the cookies set by the server. If multiple Set-Cookie headers are present, we seem to receive only a partial list, some cookies are missing entirely. In Chrome and Firefox, the same callback provides all cookies set by the server without issue. We are looking for assistance in fixing these issues and having our Safari Extension function the same as it does in Firefox and Chrome.

I’m encountering an issue with CSS not displaying when using WKURLSchemeHandler to load local HTML files. When I package the app using Xcode 15.3 or above, the CSS styles do not display on iOS 17 or higher. However, on iOS 16.7.1, the CSS displays correctly. • If I use Xcode 15.2 to package the app, the CSS loads and displays correctly on all iOS versions. My Mac app and its Safari web extension share an app group, and I want to notify the web extension native process when the app makes a change to the app group NSUserDefaults, but I can't find a good way to do this. According to the documentation, "You can use key-value observing to register observers for specific keys of interest in order to be notified of all updates, regardless of whether changes are made within or outside the current process." In my testing, however, this doesn't work in the web extension process. I'm using NSUserDefaults addObserver forKeyPath, but observeValueForKeyPath never gets called. I've also tried NSDistributedNotificationCenter, but the web extension process doesn't receive the notifications sent by the main app. Are either of these supposed to work? If not, are there any alternatives?

Scroll down the page so that the top address bar collapses. Click on any link on the page to load a new one. We have a web application that uses high resolution images to validate the authenticity of products. For this purpose we want to use the best camera to make the high resolution camera, on iPhone Pro devices this camera is the ultra-wide angle camera. The issue we have is how to confidently select that camera from the list returned by navigator.mediaDevices.enumerateDevices. We can't use the device ID as it change every time (and for every user), we could use the camera name but the string is translate to the device language which is very problematic. We could also just select a specific item in the list but we are not sure that the order is preserved and it makes it hard to deal with other iPhone models that don't have that ultra wide angle camera. Selecting a specific camera looks like an essential feature not only for us. What is the best option, we are looking for something that is future proof and easily scalable.

I am calling fetch with a POST on page1 in Safari. No special cache parameters on the fetch call. The response from the server is a 303 redirect to page2 The second page -- page2 -- is in my browser's cache with cache-control "public, max-age=31536000, immutable". For some reason, the page2 redirect is causing a server hit to re-GET the second page every time instead of pulling from cache. If I instead directly get the second page by doing a fetch on page2, there is no server hit. If I do this on Chrome or Firefox, it behaves as I would expect, pulling page2 from the cache with no server hit. In case it matters, the fetch is coming from within an iFrame. Also, if I change the original POST to a GET, the problem still happens. I am using a pretty old version of Safari on my Mac, so I could chalk it up to that, but I am getting the same behavior with Safari on my iPhone with iOS 18.3.2 Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello, I am studying a possible scenario. Let's say I create an App Clip that features a WKWebView. The WKWebView hosts a sort of webapp that uses local storage and IndexDB. When the complete app is installed, are the data persisted so the WKWebView of the complete app finds them as it was reading them before? Are the data transferred by the operating system to a new location but still accessed the same way by the WKWebView (Or even the location is the same because it is the WKWebView special storage)?
