When a tab goes to sleep, all its resources gets killed. When the user has any interaction it gets active again. However, if there is an audio in the tab, it does not play again even after user interaction. One has to reload/reopen the tab.
Is this how it should work?
Is there a fix for this?

Hello!
I have a question about changes in default behavior of Safari related to cookie setting.
We had an issue - our Single Sign On login was not working, because of lost cookie on some step of the flow. Only changes in Safari cross-website tracking settings helped to fix the issue
So the question is - are there any official documentation about changes in cookie setting policy in Safari on iOS 18?
Hello,
I am studying a possible scenario.
Let's say I create an App Clip that features a WKWebView.
The WKWebView hosts a sort of webapp that uses local storage and IndexDB.
When the complete app is installed, are the data persisted so the WKWebView of the complete app finds them as it was reading them before?
Are the data transferred by the operating system to a new location but still accessed the same way by the WKWebView (Or even the location is the same because it is the WKWebView special storage)? Or are they wiped out?
Thank you in advance
Best regards

Hello!
I am looking to use SF Pro as the main font of my website. This website is used as a place of purchase for some of my products, none of which will actually be using this font.
The websites logo will also not be using this font, however I am worried that may be legally unviable.
Please let me know if this is an option. I'm not looking to get direct financial gain by using your fonts, just would like to use it for the website.
Thank you for your help.
I am trying to access a camera from web view and I'm unable to load the updated UI in web view and web view gets flick for every few seconds. The updated UI has some more functionality, but the web page not getting loaded.
I’m experiencing an issue where Safari takes approximately 30 seconds to load web pages on mTLS-enabled sites. However, when I enable Private Browsing mode, the problem disappears. This suggests that the issue is not related to the network environment.
To provide more context, I’ve attached a Wireshark packet capture for reference. From the logs, it seems that the TLS handshake process encounters delays, but I cannot identify the exact cause.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or can provide insights into what might be causing this behavior? Any troubleshooting suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated.
OS: iPadOS 18.2.1
Thank you!

I want to switch from Apns to standard notificationApi browser notification, but when my website originally used Apns, I switched to standard API and called Notification for message notification. The notification didn't appear.
I confirmed that Notification.permission is granted.
Update: turns out the testphone with iOS 18 was set to 'Do not disturb'.
Case closed.
Hi all, I created a progressive web app. I is hosted on an actual live domain, served over https.
When installed on an iPhone homescreen on iOS 17.7.2, sending web push notifications works fine:
the response from the push service endpoint has a status code of 201, indicating all is good. In the service worker of the PWA, an eventlistener for the 'push' event is trigggered and displays an OS notification.
On iOS18.0 however, even though the response from the push service endpoint has a status code of 201, there is no notification showing. Even though permission has been granted, and registration.pushManager.subscribe() is successful.
When working locally, I've setup my server to run on localhost in https mode as well by following this excellent Technical Note to setup my own Certificate Authority, have it be trusted by my iOS test devices and have the CA issue a certificate so TLS can be set up.
On this locally running https server, web push notifications do arrive for iOS 17.7.2, but also not for iOS18.0.
I'm not sure how to start debugging this, as I can't seem to get the webinspector to show for the service worker most times, and when I can, there is no console.log() output visible.
This still stands:
So really, I'm looking for a (reliable) way to be able to debug this issues in safari, or find some documentation on what changed for Safari on iOS 18 that requires changes.
Any help or thoughts on this matter?
My Safari extension has a WKWebView in the main app and an HTML popup window in Safari. For some reason, both are in dark mode on visionOS, even though the device environment is light and Safari tabs are also showing light mode. Why does this happen, and how can I change it?
Safari throw a ViewTransition error, called ' Unhandled Promise Rejection: AbortError: Old view transition aborted by new view transition.' however, i don't find how to catch it.
i used 'try..catch' or Promise.catch, or catch it in finished/ready/updateCallbackDone Promise. These all don't work.
What do I need to do with my webpages to enable Safari AI summary functionality?
Thanks, David
Hai guys,
I'm trying to do autofocus on the search input while user clicks the search icon but its not working as expected in iPhone and iPad so go through some blogs and stackoverflow they mentioned the apple has removed the focus() from touchable device for usablity reason is anyone come up with the same issue or having solution for this kindly share. That must be helpful for me.
Hi,
I have a Safari extension that works well in iOS before 18, which can switch to a different tab with chrome.tabs.update back and forth by keyboard shortcuts. With iOS 18, as Page content loses its focus, it is impossible to trigger content script directly, I have to manually touch screen to put focus back to page content so that keystroke can trigger my content script to talk with background to call chrome.tabs.update to switch back.
Please bring focus to page content after switching to a new tab with chrome.tabs.update.
So recently Intune add support for controlling safari web extension enablement using the new ddm configuration added in Macos 15, but unfortunately I can't make it work no matter what I try.
On the destination machine I see the that a user declaration for safari extension has been created, but there is not details on which extension they applied and it seems faulty (See attachment)
I have 2 questions:
Has anyone managed to make it work?
Is there a way to test this declaration like I can do with Mobile config by manually load it to the machine?
Thank you.

Hi,
I implemented push notifications on my PWA, and it work fine with all browsers except with Safari. I followed all the recommendations given by Brady Eidson in this video :
Meet Web Push for Safari
And the result is that all the push notification process work fine with others browsers, from the subscription to the notification delivery and display. But with Safari the endpoint is always empty and I do not understand why. No error is triggered during subscription. Just the result is a subscription with an empty endpoint.
I have the same result on iPad, iPhone and iMac. Everything is working well with others browsers or with android smartphone. But contrary to what Brady Eidson promised in his video, it does not work with Safari.
