Dynamically assigning texture resource to ShaderGraphMaterial on VisionOS
I implemented a ShaderGraphMaterial and tried to load it from my usda scene by ShaderGraphMaterial.init(name: in: bundle). I want to dynamically set TextureResource on that material, so I wanted to expose texture as Uniform Input of a ShaderGraphMaterial. But obviously RCP's Shader Graph doesn't support Texture input as parameter as the image shows: And from the code level, ShaderGraphMaterial also didn't expose a way to set TexturesResources neither. Its parameterNames shows an empty array if I didn't set any custom input params. The texture I get is from my backend so it really cannot be saved into a file and load it again (that would be too weird). Is there something I am missing?

Anchor Wall
I have created a portal and attached it to a wall using the AnchorEntity. However, I am seeking guidance on how to determine the size of the wall so that the portal can fully occupy it. Initially, I attempted to locate relevant information within the demo code, but I encountered difficulties in comprehending certain sections. I would appreciate it if someone could provide a step-by-step explanation or a reference to the appropriate code. Thank you for your assistance.

Multilayer VisionOS App icon not working
I tried to use the application icon from sample project https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/diorama, but the 3 layers of the app icon are not separated when I hover on the icon in the Vision Pro simulator. Could you please advise how to fix the problem? I am using the latest Xcode Version 15.4 (15F31d). Thank you.

How does rendering to a higher resolution RenderTarget and then downsampling to a Drawable cause image distortion?
Rendering the scene onto a RenderTarget with twice the resolution of the Drawable, and then downsampling to the Drawable, causes the image to appear distorted. Modifications were made on the Xcode VisionOS template Foveation should be enabled by default struct ContentStageConfiguration: CompositorLayerConfiguration { func makeConfiguration(capabilities: LayerRenderer.Capabilities, configuration: inout LayerRenderer.Configuration) { configuration.depthFormat = .depth32Float configuration.colorFormat = .bgra8Unorm_srgb let foveationEnabled = capabilities.supportsFoveation configuration.isFoveationEnabled = foveationEnabled let options: LayerRenderer.Capabilities.SupportedLayoutsOptions = foveationEnabled ? [.foveationEnabled] : [] let supportedLayouts = capabilities.supportedLayouts(options: options) configuration.layout = supportedLayouts.contains(.layered) ? .layered : .dedicated } } To avoid errors, rasterizationRateMap is not set. var renderPassDescriptor = MTLRenderPassDescriptor() renderPassDescriptor.colorAttachments[0].texture = self.renderTarget.currentFrameColor renderPassDescriptor.renderTargetWidth = self.renderTarget.currentFrameColor.width renderPassDescriptor.renderTargetHeight = self.renderTarget.currentFrameColor.height renderPassDescriptor.colorAttachments[0].loadAction = .clear renderPassDescriptor.colorAttachments[0].storeAction = .store renderPassDescriptor.colorAttachments[0].clearColor = MTLClearColor(red: 0.0, green: 0.0, blue: 0.0, alpha: 0.0) renderPassDescriptor.depthAttachment.texture = self.renderTarget.currentFrameDepth renderPassDescriptor.depthAttachment.loadAction = .clear renderPassDescriptor.depthAttachment.storeAction = .store renderPassDescriptor.depthAttachment.clearDepth = 0.0 //renderPassDescriptor.rasterizationRateMap = drawable.rasterizationRateMaps.first if layerRenderer.configuration.layout == .layered { renderPassDescriptor.renderTargetArrayLength = drawable.views.count } The rendering process is as follows:

How to use CubeMap in Reality Composer Pro?
I just do as the document in https://developer.apple.com/documentation/shadergraph/realitykit/cube-image-(realitykit) I have a .ktx file, and use CubeImage node to load it, then Convert node, but it shows black. I check it on my Vision Pro, it's still black, I don't know why? Is it something wrong? ps: I also use Image node to load .ktx file, it shows one image, so I belive .ktx file is right. I alse checked it on Vision Pro.

Automatic Plane Measurements like in the Apple Measure App
I’m working on an iOS app that needs to measure the area of planes or surfaces, like the length and width of objects, just like the Apple Measure app does. I’ve been exploring ARKit, but I’m curious if there are any APIs or techniques that can help automate the process of detecting and measuring planes. Specifically, I’m looking for a way to automatically detect and measure planes (e.g., from a top-down view). For example: Measuring a box width and length. I have attached a screenshot and a video of the Apple Measure App doing it. Does Apple provide any tools or APIs for this, or are there any best practices I should know about? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled something similar. Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BxM7fIbFxsCsYwY7w8ZxIeq_4WTGkkwA/view?usp=drive_link

Releasing a TextureObject from memory
Hi there! I´m trying to make a 360 image carousel in RealityView/SwiftUI with very large textures. I´ve managed to load one 12K 360 image and showing it on a inverted sphere with a ShaderMaterialGraph made in Reality Composer Pro. When I try to load the next image I get an out of memory error. The carousel works fine with smaller textures. My question is. How do I release the memory from the current texture before loading the next? In theory the garbagecollector should erase it eventually? Hope someone can help =) Thanks in advance! Best regards, Kim

How to find the camera transform (or view matrix) in the world coordinate from a camera frame
I'm trying to implement a prototype to render virtual objects in a mixed immersive space on the camer frames captured by CameraFrameProvider. Here are what I have done: Get camera's instrinsics from frame.primarySample.parameters.intrinsics Get camera's extrinsics from frame.primarySample.parameters.extrinsics Get the device anchor by worldTrackingProvider.queryDeviceAnchor(atTimestamp: CACurrentMediaTime()) Setup a RealityKit.RealityRenderer to render virtual objects on the captured camera frames let realityRenderer = try RealityKit.RealityRenderer() realityRenderer.cameraSettings.colorBackground = .outputTexture() let cameraEntity = PerspectiveCamera() // see https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/770235 let cameraTransform = deviceAnchor.originFromAnchorTransform * extrinsics.inverse cameraEntity.setTransformMatrix(cameraTransform, relativeTo: nil) cameraEntity.camera.near = 0.01 cameraEntity.camera.far = 100 cameraEntity.camera.fieldOfViewOrientation = .horizontal // manually calculated based on camera intrinsics cameraEntity.camera.fieldOfViewInDegrees = 105 realityRenderer.entities.append(cameraEntity) realityRenderer.activeCamera = cameraEntity Virtual objects, which should be seen in the camera frames, are clipped out by the camera transform. If I use deviceAnchor.originFromAnchorTransform as the camera transform, virtual objects can be rendered on camera frames at wrong positions (I think it is because the camera extrinsics isn't used to adjust the camera to the correct position). My question is how to use the camera extrinsic matrix for this purpose? Does the camera extrinsics point to a similar orientation of the device anchor with some minor rotation and postion change? Here is an extrinsics from a camera frame. It seems that the direction of Y-axis and Z-axis are flipped by the extrinsics. So the camera is point to a wrong direction. simd_float4x4([[0.9914258, 0.012555369, -0.13006608, 0.0], // X-axis [-0.0009778949, -0.9946325, -0.10346654, 0.0], // Y-axis [-0.13066702, 0.10270659, -0.98609203, 0.0], // Z-axis [0.024519, -0.019568002, -0.058280986, 1.0]]) // translation

Physics
Given my limited knowledge of physics, I would appreciate it if individuals with a solid understanding of the subject could provide insights into this matter. I have added a physical component to a entity in Reality Composer Pro, but I am seeking guidance on how to achieve the following: Make an object float in the air (with a slight downward motion reminiscent of the moon’s surface) Enable the object to move at a slow pace Implement a strong rebound force I would be grateful if you could provide appropriate values for these parameters. Thank you for your assistance.

Make subdivision surfaces work in Reality Composer Pro
Information is light on the new subdivision support for USD models in RealityKit, and I have been unable so far to get one of my models to actually subdivide within Reality Composer Pro or Quick Look (or when viewing on Vision Pro). I've exported a few test models from Houdini and verified that it contains ' uniform token subdivisionScheme = "catmullClark"'. I've started with some very lightweight, basic meshes. But, when viewing, they simply look like polygonal meshes. There's no 'subdividing' occurring at runtime when viewing the models. Is there a trick to getting them to actually smooth-out?

USDZ with Blend Shapes Workflow Recommendations
Hi, since RealityKit 4 now supports Blend Shapes I was wondering if there are any workflow or tooling recommendations to bake/export them into a USDZ. Are Blender or Cinema4D capable to do that out of the box? Should we look into NVIDIA omniverse (https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/connect/latest/blender/manual.htm) So far this topic seems very sparsely documented and I would appreciate any hints. Thank you!

Reality Composer Pro Audio "On Tap" Behaviors Help
Looking for help on getting "On Tap" to work inside RCP for my AVP project. I can get it to work when using "on added to scene" but if I switch to "on tap", the audio will not play when attaching the audio to an entity in my scene. I'm using the same entity for the tap gesture that the audio is using for the emitter. Here is my work flow for the "on added to scene" that works correctly to help troubleshoot my non working "on tap". Behaviors: "on added to scene". action - timeline Input target: check mark enabled, allowed all Collision set to default Audio library: source mp3 file Chanel Audio: resource mp3 file above Timeline: Play Audio with mp3 file added This set up in RCP allows my AVP project to launch correctly with audio "on added to scene". But when switching behaviors to "on tap", the audio will no longer play and I can not figure out why. I've tried several different options and nothing works. Please help!

ShaderGraphMaterial on entity
Hi I try to make a 360 stereo viewer, and I have made a ShaderGraphMaterial on Reality Composer Pro. Im trying to use that material on a inverted sphere whitch is generated in Swift. When I try to attach the material I get this error "Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation" Here is the code (sorry im noob =) ): import SwiftUI import RealityKit import RealityKitContent import PhotosUI struct ImmersiveView: View { @Environment(AppModel.self) var appModel var body: some View { RealityView { content in // Add the initial RealityKit content guard let skyBoxEntity = await createSkybox() else { return } content.add(skyBoxEntity) } } } private func createSkybox () async -> Entity? { var matX = try? await ShaderGraphMaterial(named: "/Root/Mat_Stereo360", from: "360Stereo.usda", in: realityKitContentBundle) let sphere = await MeshResource.generateSphere(radius:1000) let entity = await Entity() entity.components.set(ModelComponent(mesh: sphere, materials: [matX])). //ERROR HERE: Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation //entity.scale *= .init(x:-1, y:1, z:1) return entity } I hope someone can help me =) Best regards, Kim

How to use `unproject(_:from:to:ontoPlane:)` of Content of RealityView
When using ARView of RealityKit, I can code like this let results = arView.raycast(from: point, allowing: .estimatedPlane, alignment: .any) to get the 3D position of where I tap on the plane. In iOS 18, we can use RealityView and I found that unproject(_:from:to:ontoPlane:) may implement the same function, but I don't know how to set the ontoPlane parameter. Can someone help me with some code snippets?

Translation API availability on visionOS
Hi, One of the great features introduced in WWDC24 is the Translation API. But unfortunately it's currently unavailable on visionOS. My question is, does Apple have any plan to support it on visionOS as well? If so, what's the ETA for this feature? I would really like to see it on visionOS, otherwise I'll have to pay Google to use their translation API.

Can visionOS windows be smarter about following users?
I haven't found a way to programmatically position the main view in visionOS apps, which seems intentional. While this aligns with user-controlled window placement, it creates a challenge: as users move, they must constantly reposition the main window manually. A potential solution could be a feature that quickly brings the window to the user, perhaps via a custom gesture. This might improve user experience significantly. Given my current understanding of visionOS, I may be missing something. I'd appreciate any insights or alternative perspectives on this issue. Thoughts?

Need to get The VisonOS Player's Camera forward vector on runtime
How can I access the player’s camera vector in VisionOS, specifically using RealityKit? In Unity and other game engines, there’s often an API like "Camera.main.transform.forward for this purpose. " I’ve found the head anchor but haven’t identified a way to obtain the forward vector in RealityKit. Is there a related API for this? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Cast virtual light on real-world environments in VisionOS/RealityKit?
Hi everyone, I've been exploring an idea that involves using virtual light sources in VisionOS/RealityKit to interact with real-world objects. Specifically, I'd like to simulate a scenario where a virtual spotlight or other light source casts light or shadows onto real-world environments, creating the effect of virtual lighting interacting with physical surroundings. Is this currently feasible within VisionOS/RealityKit? Thank you!
