From what I know, the iPhone can read NFC tags since 2017 (Core NFC) only on the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and later. I also know that iPhone XR and later can read tags in the background. My question is the following : what is the difference between reading an NFC and being able to use the phone to scan a NFC ? Technically, paying with Apple Pay on an iPhone 6s, being the first to support Apple Pay is possible, but why is that phone model unable to read NFCS ? Thanks for the answers.

Hi, I had the same thought. The problem is the NFC Entitlement (=> you cannot generate custom NFC-Passes) and the Apple VAS protocol. As it‘s proprietary and only available for MFi members. In such case, I‘d love to be such member, but the process behind seems to be complicated :/ I guess, walket encrypts the data sent by the pass using a key every time, so it can’t be shared always the same string… would love to see more flexibility here!

How did you emulate an NFC Tag with an android device that was readable by an iPhone? I've tried several android NFC apps that did not emulate on an iPhone natively unless you used the same compatible app on both phones.

I am trying to run apples sample code for NFC creating (i have made no changes), however when i run it only the reading sector runs. However there are no errors and doesn't appear to be any problems, other than it not running the NFC creator.
Hello, I need to use NFC for a project. My problem is that always when im entering with my Phone a RFID field Apple Pay shows up instead of just my NFC application. I know that you can suppress Apple Pay with adding com.apple.developer.passkit.pass-presentation-suppression to the Entitlements File but my Problem is that this Entitlement also suppresses NFC which I need. How can I suppress Apple Pay but use NFC? Thanks for Help!
Hello Apple Devs, Can some one tell if I can scan RFID tag using the CoreNFC framework? Right now i have a requirement of an iOS app which can scan RFID tag. I have read about CoreNFC framework and know that NFC is a subset of RFID but still requiring clarification on my question. Can anyone from APPLE team kindly and humbly reply to my query? Incredible. The bug is still there in the official iOS 15.5 release! I used NFC tags as HomeKit shortcuts, none of them work anymore :( I advise everyone here to fill a bug report with Apple's Feedback Assistant: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/ (iOS → CoreNFC API) If only one or two people fill a bug report, nothing will change before many iOS releases. We need to work as a team here and act in group in order for Apple to react quickly. And if you're a registered developper, please fill a bug report using Apple's Radar system too.

Hello, We install ISO/IEC 14443-A NFC chips in products. The reading works perfectly with German/European devices. However, it does not work with iPhones (iPhone 8+) from Japan, the tag is simply not recognised. Is it known that Japanese devices do not support this ISO standard or has anyone had similar experiences?
