Hi team,
I'm developing a feature that's collecting the device locations for home security app.
We've been following
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corelocation/creating-a-location-push-service-extension
apns-push-type set to location.
apns-priority set to 5.
during testing, we found that the device's notification extension cannot be triggered after device going into lock screen for 10 mins.
Wonder should we set the priority to 10? Thanks!
Hey there,
i implemented live activity in my app and iam trying to start the live activity from push notification, updates works fine even when the app is in background but starting the activity creating issue mostly on background and kill mode when i check the delivery of live activity on cloudkit console it says stored for device power considerations.
anyone having the same issue ?
I keep getting 401 Unauthorized error when fetching Apple's public keys.
In [14]: print(f"Error fetching public keys: {response.status_code} {response.text}")
Error fetching public keys: 401 Unauthenticated
I've verified that the Key ID, Issuer ID, and private key file are all correct, with the private key having admin access. The server time is correctly set to UTC. Given this, I can't identify what might be causing the issue. Any insights?

Hello everyone,
We have an app that implements in-app purchases, and we're using the notification settings outlined in this Apple Developer guide. Everything is functioning correctly in TestFlight, and our server successfully receives notifications from Apple.
However, after releasing the app to production, we're no longer receiving these notifications, while the TestFlight version continues to work as expected.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Thank you for your help!

Hey everyone,
I work on an app with VoIP calls and essential notifications features, and I'm curious about the new locked/hidden apps functionality in iOS 18.
Specifically, does iOS 18 provide any way for developers to detect if a user has hidden their app from the home screen or app library? I want to notify users if they hide the app, core functionalities like VoiP calls and notifications might not work as expected. Furthermore, would critical alerts also be hidden from the notification center?
Any insight on whether Apple exposes this information to developers, or if there are indirect ways to detect hidden status, would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
This is in an iOS Simulator running iOS 18.2
I send a start live activity push notification from the Push Notifications Console on icloud.developer.apple.com. When checking the console.log output it seems to receive the message, yet the activity does not appear in the dynamic island. (the app is backgrounded when I test this)
Can anyone tell me why it's not showing? Starting the same activity from within the app using Swift code works fine.
Here is the console.app output:

Hello,
We’re working on a connected watch that displays notifications and handles calls using the ANCS (Apple Notification Center Service) on a Nordic Semiconductor platform. We can manage a single call by monitoring notifications with Category ID: Incoming Call and Category ID 12: Active Call, which lets us display the call status on the watch. However, we’re facing challenges with handling multiple calls, especially around holding and resuming calls.
Our key issues are:
Tracking Call on Hold: When the first call is put on hold to answer a second call, ANCS removes the first call notification. This leaves us unable to track if there’s a call on hold until it’s resumed and reappears as an Active Call. Is there any ANCS flag, category ID, or other mechanism to indicate a call is on hold?
Tracking Total Call Duration: When resuming a held call, ANCS assigns a new Active Call category ID with a new timestamp, which reflects the resumption time rather than the original call start time. This complicates tracking the total elapsed time. Is there a way to identify that this resumed call is the same as the original one to retain the initial timestamp?
Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

I have to device, one is iOS 17.0.3, the other is iOS 18.1.1.
In iOS 17.0.3, everything just goes fine, but iOS 18.1.1 'didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken' and 'didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError' never called. I am sure I already called 'registerForRemoteNotifications' method in Appdelegate, Singning & Capabilities's Remote notification is also checked. I use Firebase, also add FirebaseAppDelegateProxyEnabled = NO in my info.plist.
Someone can tell me why? Think u for ur answer.
Hi Everyone,
I noticed that applicationIconBadgeNumber has been deprecated in iOS17. While there's a new method to set the badge number using setBadgeCount(_:withCompletionHandler:), I couldn't find a way to retrieve the current value.
Previously we used to call UIApplication.shared.applicationIconBadgeNumber, to get the current value, which is deprecated now.
Does anyone know how to get the current badge count?
Thanks!

Does iOS provide a callback when a notification is manually removed from the notification tray ?
I got a notification that the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. Does this affect the push service for Apple Wallet passes or just for apps? I have a push service for Apple Wallet passes but no service for apps. I don't use push notification service for anything other than for Apple Wallet Pass push notifications, not at all for apps. Is there anything I need to do or is this not relevant to my situation?
If it does, what do I need to change in order to make sure my service still works? Do I just replace the certificate? Is there a standard path where it would live on the server?
I'm sure this is a simple thing, but it's been over a decade since I wrote the push service so I'm pretty rusty.
Our team had previously encountered deprecation warnings for applicationIconBadgeNumber, but while working with iOS 18.0.1 and Xcode version 16.1, I no longer see these warnings. Has the deprecation been reversed, or do we need to address it on our end? Please provide insights on whether the deprecation still applies, as there are no warnings in Xcode for that API and action items on the integrators.

Hello,
We are currently facing a persistent issue where Apple Push Notifications (APNs) are no longer being delivered to devices. This is not an intermittent problem — push notifications have completely stopped working. We are using PushSharp.Apple (Version 4.0.10.0) to send the notifications.
Current Behavior (Failing):
Every notification request appears to be processed successfully from the server side.
However, the APNs client receives a 0-byte response, and the server closes the connection.
Devices do not receive the notifications at all.
Logs from Current (Failing) State:
APNS-Client[1]: Connected (Batch ID=1)
APNS-Client[1]: Sent Batch, waiting for possible response...
APNS-Client[1]: Received 0 bytes response...
APNS-Client[1]: Server Closed Connection...
APNS-Client[1]: Disconnected (Batch ID=1)
For Reference – Successful Log From Earlier (When Notifications Worked):
APNS-Client[1]: Connected (Batch ID=1)
APNS-Client[1]: Sent Batch, waiting for possible response...
APNS-Client[1]: Received -1 bytes response...
Push Notification Successfully Sent to Device
Any help, suggestions, or experience with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Uniapp cannot find notification permission in the app system settings when enabling Push 1 to package and list on iOS Store, but printing can receive push penetration messages. The push certificate and info.plist have been configured

Version: iOS 18.1 and later (works as expected on iOS 18.0 and earlier)
Area: SpringBoard / Notification Center / App Icon Rendering
Description: When changing the app's alternate icon using UIApplication.setAlternateIconName(_:completionHandler:), the icon is updated correctly on the Home Screen and App Switcher. However, in Notification Center, the old app icon is still shown for notifications, even after the change has completed. This issue only occurs on iOS 18.1 and later. In iOS 18.0 and earlier, Notification Center correctly reflects the updated icon.
- Steps to reproduce:
Create an iOS app with alternate app icons configured in the Info.plist.
Use UIApplication.shared.setAlternateIconName("IconName") to change the icon at runtime.
Send a notification.
Pull down Notification Center and observe the icon shown beside the notification.
- Expected Behavior:
Notification Center should reflect the updated (alternate) app icon immediately after the change.
- Actual Behavior:
Notification Center continues to display the old (primary) app icon. The new icon appears correctly on the Home Screen and App Switcher. Restarting the device does cause Notification Center to update and reflect the correct icon, which suggests a cache or refresh issue in SpringBoard or Notification Center.
- Notes:
Issue introduced in iOS 18.1; not present in 18.0.
Reproduces on both physical devices and simulators.
Occurs with both scheduled local notifications and remote notifications.
Restarting the device updates the Notification Center icon, but this is not a viable user-facing workaround.

Only iOS devices stop receiving notifications after a few days of the app being installed. To resolve this, you need to reinstall the app again.
