Guideline 3.2 - Business
Hello, Thank you for your message. Regarding 3.2, we still find that your app is intended to be used by a specific business or organization, including partners, clients, or employees, but you've selected public distribution on the App Store in App Store Connect. To resolve this issue, it would be appropriate to review the other distribution options available for apps designed for specific businesses or organizations and choose a distribution option that works for your app and users. You can review these app distribution options on Apple Developer. I appreciate the help to get out of this inconvenience. Thank you.

What is the URL Scheme of Native Apple Translation app?
I'm the IT Admin in my company. We use Microsoft Intune, which is a Mobile Device Management tool, to manage our devices and apps. I created an app protection policy, restricting the data can only be shared between the allowed apps. For example, if our user want to copy the content in Outlook for iOS to WeChat or personal memo, the action will be blocked. However, may be it's too strict, here is the scenario that we need to hadle: A user selected the content in the Outlook for iOS mail, and wanted to use the "translate" function to do translation. Before the app protection policy was deployed, he can do the translation successfully. And now, it's blocked. Therefore, we need to find a way to exempt the app "Translate" so that users can do the translation successfully. We put the value "com.apple.Translate"(this is a package ID listed in the official document of Apple) to the exemption, but it's not working. May I know what is the correct "value" for the iOS native Translate APP? I need to put this value to our app protection policy to exempt Translate app. Thank you so much.

Using SUBQUERY on @status item
We'd like to determine if there is a configuration declaration that is active on a device as part of a predicate. The current logic (based on the WWDC 22 session) is: SUBQUERY(@status(management.declarations.configurations), $declaration, ($declaration.@key(identifier) == "com.abc.declarationname" AND $declaration.@key(active) == true)).@count == 1 The goal is that if the declaration is active, then a predicate should evaluate to true. This query does not appear to be working. Should we be able to use @status(management.declarations.activations) in a predicate? If so, what are we missing to attempt to determine if the declaration is active? If I search the existing status objects that are sent from the device, it is showing as active in the status channel.

MDM Server and automatic deployment
Hello all, We have built our own MDM solution as we plan to support quite a few devices running iOS. Manual activation is running fine and devices are checking in. We have setup ABM with Device management service setup and linked to our MDM. We have added reseller via Apple customer number and purchased devices are showing in ABM. We have setup default management service assignment as well. When we are setting up a device it gives an error: Remote Management The configuration for your iPhone could not be downloaded from . cancelled Error in the device log is as follows: Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(DMCUtilities)[626] : <DMCHTTPRequestor: 0x84cfd7d40> cannot accept the authentication method NSURLAuthenticationMethodClientCertificate Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Task <663D2346-4B73-4DB2-A134-B1A7DC58E70B>.<1> auth completion disp=2 cred=0x0 Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Task <663D2346-4B73-4DB2-A134-B1A7DC58E70B>.<1> summary for task failure {transaction_duration_ms=285, response_status=-1, connection=7, reused=1, reused_after_ms=0, request_start_ms=0, request_duration_ms=0, response_start_ms=0, response_duration_ms=0, request_bytes=0, request_throughput_kbps=0, response_bytes=0, response_throughput_kbps=0, cache_hit=false} Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Connection 7: TLS Client Certificates encountered error 1:89 Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Task <663D2346-4B73-4DB2-A134-B1A7DC58E70B>.<1> finished with error [-999] Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-999 UserInfo={NSErrorFailingURLStringKey=, NSErrorFailingURLKey=, _NSURLErrorRelatedURLSessionTaskErrorKey=, _NSURLErrorFailingURLSessionTaskErrorKey=, NSLocalizedDescription=} Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Connection 7: encountered error(1:89) Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Connection 7: cleaning up Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(CFNetwork)[626] : Connection 7: summary for unused connection {protocol="http/1.1", domain_lookup_duration_ms=0, connect_duration_ms=0, secure_connection_duration_ms=0, private_relay=false, idle_duration_ms=0} Jun 11 14:16:36 iPhone Setup(DMCUtilities)[626] : <DMCHTTPRequestor: 0x84cfd7d40> failed to communicate with the MDM server. Blocking Photo Attachments in Gmail, Outlook, and Social Media Applications in IOS devices
We are attempting to block the attachment of photos from the Photos/Gallery app when sending emails or sharing on social media applications such as Gmail, Outlook, and other platforms. These are MDM Managed Applications While file attachments (e.g., PDFs, documents) are successfully blocked, photo attachments are not being restricted, allowing users to attach photos without limitations. We are applying the below restriction to the device through an MDM allowOpenFromUnmanagedToManaged: false https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/restrictions Steps to Reproduce: Open the Photos or Gallery app on a mobile device. Open Gmail, Outlook, or a social media application (e.g., Facebook, Instagram). Open the Photos or Gallery app on a mobile device. Select a photo to attach. Try to attach the selected photo to an email or post. Observe that the photo is successfully attached, despite restrictions on file attachments.

How to test ManagedAppConfigurationProvider without MDM
How to test ManagedAppConfigurationProvider without MDM ? Task { /* Configuration provider task */ for await configuration in configurationProvider.configurations(MyAppConfiguration.self) { self.configuration = configuration ?? MyAppConfiguration.defaultConfiguration } } Can the existence of a configuration be simulated, e.g. by storing a mocked configuration in UserDefaults? The UserDefaults key "com.apple.configuration.managed" seems not relevant here.

What is recommended way to manage Apple IDs for supervised iPhones?
Hello Apple Community, We are integrating Apple Tap to Pay into our Point of Sale (POS) application. Our organization manages a fleet of supervised iPhones using Apple Business Manager (ABM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) to onboard devices with preferred settings and automatically install our POS app via MDM-assigned licenses, then our OPS team installs our devices at merchant location and trains their staff on how to operate our service. So far, we have avoided using Apple IDs on these devices, as our setup has relied solely on MDM enrollment and app deployment. However, Apple Tap to Pay requires an Apple ID and Passcode, which presents a challenge for automation at scale. Our Questions: 1. Generally speaking, is there a recommended flow to manage Apple ID and Passcode for our case? 2. Is Managed Apple ID supported by Tap To Pay flow? 3. Is there a way to automate creation of Managed (or regular one if Managed is not supported by Tap to Pay) Apple ID and assignment into supervised iPhone via Apple MDM protocol? 4. Both regular and managed Apple ID requires 2FA via phone number. It appears Passkeys and Authentication Apps are not supported. What is recommended way to manage 2FA phone numbers on a scale of thousands of merchants? 5. Is there a way to enforce/assign specific passcode into supervised iPhone via Apple MDM protocol? Key Considerations: • Devices are corporate-owned and supervised. • Practice shows that merchant staff is unable to manage Apple ID or any sort of iPhone credentials on their own due to frequent staff rotation and sometimes malicious actions by former employees. • MDM is used to manage deployment, security policies, and app installations and updates. • The goal is to avoid requiring end-users to manually sign in with Apple IDs and assign Passcode on each device. Thank you!

Best Practices for Updating iOS Apps in SAM/ASAM (Single App Mode) Under MDM Supervision
We’re looking for best practices to remotely update iOS apps that are deployed in Single App Mode (SAM) or Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM), managed through MDM. Imagine a typical use case: an iPad installed as a self-service kiosk at an airport restaurant. We need to update the app periodically without: Displaying any prompts to the user Relying on the user to approve or initiate the update (since the device is unattended) Sending technicians onsite, as many devices are in remote locations MDM providers have stated, “This is how Apple handles it,” without offering a workable solution. We’re hoping someone here has experience or suggestions for: Seamless or silent app updates in SAM/ASAM Update workflows that avoid interruptions or user interaction Any proven strategies or automation options under MDM supervision Any insight or documented approaches would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Strange network information values in response to DeviceInformation command on iPad
I am checking the response of DeviceInformation Command to collect network information from iPad. On iPad(iPad Pro 11, M4) devices that use WiFi without inserting Usim or Esim, network values such as CurrentMCC and ICCID are received in response to the DeviceInformation command. cf.)Even though it may be garbage value, I blurred the unique information just in case. <key>ServiceSubscriptions</key> <array> <dict> <key>CarrierSettingsVersion</key> <string>61.0</string> <key>CurrentCarrierNetwork</key> <string></string> <key>CurrentMCC</key> <string>450</string> <key>CurrentMNC</key> <string>08</string> <key>EID</key> <string>blah blah</string> <key>ICCID</key> <string>blah balh</string> <key>IMEI</key> <string>blah blah</string> <key>IsDataPreferred</key> <true/> <key>IsRoaming</key> <true/> <key>IsVoicePreferred</key> <false/> <key>Label</key> <string>Provisioning</string> <key>LabelID</key> <string>00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000</string> <key>PhoneNumber</key> <string></string> <key>Slot</key> <string>CTSubscriptionSlotOne</string> <key>SubscriberCarrierNetwork</key> <string>iPad</string> </dict> </array> This is a bit weird. If I collect the same information from an iPhone(iPhone 15 Pro Max) that only uses wifi and does not use Usim or Esim, it does not respond with values like ICCID, CurrentMCC, etc. <key>ServiceSubscriptions</key> <array> <dict> <key>IMEI</key> <string>blah blah</string> <key>Slot</key> <string>CTSubscriptionSlotOne</string> </dict> <dict> <key>EID</key> <string>blah blah</string> <key>IMEI</key> <string>blah blah</string> <key>Slot</key> <string>CTSubscriptionSlotTwo</string> </dict> </array> I'm confused by the network information collected. Is there a reason why the collected network information of iPad and iPhone are different?

Security configuration updates have been enforced through automatic update policy enabled through an MDM policy.
The security configuration updates have been enforced through automatic update policy enabled through an MDM policy. However our end users would like to know when these updates are triggered by the device and installed successfully. We can see on a few devices that even though the automatic updates are enabled there are many devices with config updates pending. Also is there a way to manually install these config updates as the end user cannot see these updates listed in the software update section.

Will a device automatically unenroll if the identity certificate expires?
I am trying to find clarification on something. We are seeing strange cases where customer devices seem to unenroll themselves after a period of MDM inactivity. This seems to tie into roughly when their identity certificate has expired. We can't confirm this because the device has since unenrolled. Is there any case where an Apple device will automatically unenroll if it's identity certificate has expired? This doesn't always seem to happen - I had a device respond immediately after being switched off for a year - but could this be down to some devices being DEP enrolled and others manually enrolled?

FileVault Encryption Type Unknown
Hi Apple Community, If a macOS Device is FileVault Encrypted, We are using the keys FDE_HasInstitutionalRecoveryKey, FDE_HasPersonalRecoveryKey from SecurityInfo to know the Device Encryption Type. But Some times rarely we get FDE_Enabled as true but both the above mentioned keys as false Also we get SecurityInfo Response patterns like these only if FileVault is enabled in Device with iCloud as option to unlock the disk Can we confirm this pattern or is there any way to know if device is encrypted with options other than Personal / Institutional Types <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CommandUUID</key> <string>SecurityInfo</string> <key>SecurityInfo</key> <dict> ...... ...... ...... <key>FDE_Enabled</key> <true/> <key>FDE_HasInstitutionalRecoveryKey</key> <false/> <key>FDE_HasPersonalRecoveryKey</key> <false/> ...... ...... ...... <key>Status</key> <string>Acknowledged</string> <key>UDID</key> <string>..............</string> </dict> </plist>

Can the MDM status be changed while the user's screen is locked?
Hello, I am an iOS developer managing an MDM app. In this app, we are only using the camera restriction feature. Can the MDM status (specifically, the camera state) be changed while the user's screen is locked? We want to communicate with our server in the background and apply changes, but there is no known information about this. I would appreciate your help!
