Manage Safari 26 top bar transparency (Mac)
Hello from Leipzig, Germany! I noticed that when vertically scrolling in Safari 26 on my Mac, the content of the website I am currently working on is visible in the tab and URL bar with a liquid glass effect. I then looked at various other websites. Some websites have an opaque top bar. Some websites have a transparent top bar where content is visible when scrolling. On the Apple website, the top bar is opaque in light mode but transparent in dark mode. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to control this behavior. Has anyone found out more about this?

However, other IOS devices besides some devices came out as a number starting with +82, and I received feedback that the call was not connected properly. Unexpected system confirmation dialog when opening a Universal Link
Subject: Unexpected system confirmation dialog when opening a Universal Link Description of the issue: We’re implementing a login flow using Native iOS apps, Universal Links, and OpenID Connect authentication. Our domain is correctly configured with the apple-app-site-association file, and Universal Links work as expected. However, under certain circumstances, the behavior differs on the same login page: The user connects to the OIDC provider in their mobile browser. Instead of automatically switching to the Native application, a popup asks the user to open the app. The behavior depends on how the login page is opened: When opened in a new browser tab, the Universal Link opens the app immediately without showing any system confirmation dialog. When the same tab is reused without a page refresh, iOS displays a system confirmation dialog asking the user to open the link in the app. This confirmation dialog doesn’t appear in the first scenario. This additional system dialog impacts the user experience, as we aim for a frictionless and seamless login flow with minimal confirmation steps. Question: Why does the app switch work automatically only the first time? Is this intentional iOS behavior? If so, what security requirement or system rule causes a confirmation dialog when reusing the same tab, but not when redirecting in a new tab or pressing a button on the reused tab? Is this expected design, or should we adjust our side to avoid this dialog? Environment details: Verified on two devices iOS versions: 18.7.2, 26.1 Thanks for your help.

SafariDomains Per App VPN Profile Error on iOS 26.0
iOS 26 (from beta 1 to beta 2) We have a VPN app that installs a per-app VPN profile with SafariDomains to filter Safari network traffic. This setup works as expected on iOS versions lower than 26.0. See here more details on SafariDomains: https://developer.apple.com/business/documentation/Configuration-Profile-Reference.pdf On iOS 26, all SafariDomains configured to go through the per-app VPN result in the following error: "Safari can’t open the page. The error was: Unknown Error" Additional Details: Only SafariDomains encounter this error. Other managed apps traffic through the per-app VPN works correctly. Steps to Reproduce: Install the VPN app with a per-app VPN profile. Configure SafariDomains with any URL (e.g., example.com). Open Safari and navigate to the configured URL. Example Configuration: We tested with a simple example by adding only one URL to SafariDomains (example.com). Logs from the console were captured at the moment Safari opened and encountered the error. safari_google2.txt Has anyone else encountered this issue on iOS 26? Authenticator app not reopening my PWA
I have a simple website, that I would like to make available as a progressive webapp, so I can somewhat customize what happens when people add the website to their homescreen (using the Share button) and maybe, in the future, use PWABuilder or something similar to publish it in some stores. My website needs authentication using OIDC, which after some redirects within the PWA opens an authenticator app on the phone. When the app returns from authenticating however, it opens a new browser tab instead of my PWA, so there is no context and the login fails. I am under the impression that this used to work, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure what the problem is, I have no idea how, when the Authenticator app opens a URL (which is what I assume is happening under the hood), iOS or Safari or whatever would know which app to open (as the redirect URL is to the OIDC Idp, not the URL of my Web app). Any hints where I could look for a solution? Thanks!

Guideline 3.2.2 Rejection - Correct Implementation for Donations via SFSafariViewController
Hello everyone, We've had our app rejected twice under Guideline 3.2.2 regarding charitable donations, and we're seeking clarification on the correct implementation. We've read the guidelines but want to confirm the technical approach with the community's experience. The Rejection Reason: Apple states: "We still noticed that your app includes the ability to collect charitable donations within the app..." They specify that since we are not an approved nonprofit, we must use one of the alternatives, primarily: "provide a link to your website that launches the default browser or SFSafariViewController for users to make a donation." Our Current (Rejected) Implementation: User taps a "Help" button in our native app. A native modal appears inside our app where the user enters their donation amount and email address for the receipt. The user clicks "Donate," which then opens an SFSafariViewController to our website's payment page (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). The amount and email are passed as URL parameters to pre-fill the form. Our Questions for the Community: Is the issue solely the fact that we have a native modal for data entry? We understand we cannot process the payment in-app, but we thought collecting the intent (amount, email) was acceptable before handing off to Safari. What is the definitive, compliant flow? Option A: Should the "Help" button do nothing more than open an SFSafariViewController to a generic donations landing page on our website (https://ourwebsite.com/donate), with no data pre-filled? The user must then navigate and enter all information on the website itself. Option C: The rejection also mentions SMS. Has anyone had success implementing a "Text-to-Donate" link instead of a web flow? Wording: The button in our app currently says "Donate". Should this be changed to a more passive call to action like "Visit Website to Donate" to make it absolutely clear the transaction is external? We want to ensure our next submission is successful. Any insight, especially from developers who have successfully navigated this exact rejection, would be immensely helpful. Thank you.

SFSafariApplication doesn't transmit messages to docked website.
Hi! I'm working on a web extension for Safari and I need to send messages from the containing application to JavaScript. For this I use the method class func dispatchMessage( withName messageName: String, toExtensionWithIdentifier identifier: String, userInfo: [String : Any]? = nil ) async throws of the SFSafariApplication class. If the site is opened in Safari in normal mode, everything works as expected. However, if the site is "docked", the messages are not transmitted to this "Web App". Is it possible to somehow link the container application to the docked website so that messages from the application are received by this "Web App"? That you.

declarativeNetRequest addOrReplaceParams adds a parameter when already present
I'm trying to use DNR to force safe search with Qwant search engine. Under certain circumstances (scenario described below) the search is performed with an API which contains the safe search level in a URL parameter. A typical query URL is https://api.qwant.com/v3/search/web?q=test&count=10&locale=fr_FR&offset=0&device=desktop&tgp=1&safesearch=0&displayed=true&llm=true. I want a DNR rule to force safesearch to be 2 (= strict) (from some javascript code) : { id: 1, priority: 1, action: { type: 'redirect', "redirect": { "transform": { "queryTransform": { "addOrReplaceParams": [{ "key": "safesearch", "value": "2" }] } } } }, condition: { "urlFilter": "api.qwant.com/v3/search", "resourceTypes": ["xmlhttprequest"] }, } When this rule is activated, I end up with a URL with the original safesearch parameter AND the forced one : https://api.qwant.com/v3/search/web?q=test&count=10&locale=fr_FR&offset=0&device=desktop&tgp=1&safesearch=0&displayed=true&llm=true&safesearch=2. To reproduce this request (with the previous DNR rule in place) : navigate to https://www.qwant.com search for some string (test in my case). This displays the list of results ; click the engine button at the top right to display the settings pane ; inspect network request performed by this page ; change the Adult filter in the list -> the results are automatically updated with the new settings. Scenario Overview: In our app, we open an in-app browser to complete a third-party consent flow. The sequence is: App → Website A (set cookie and redirect) → Google → Website A (check cookie) → App After upgrading the app, the first consent attempt fails because the cookie cannot be written, causing the check cookie step to fail. However, if we use the native Safari browser, this issue does not occur. Passkey mediation conditional get
aID is an ID service for 150+ newspaper sites in Norway. Since the middle of January the average login time with passkeys on our site https://www.aid.no/ has increased for Safari users, the number of logins using passkey in Safari has decreased dramatically. Previously Safari was the browser that provided the best user experience during login, since it triggered fingerprint reader straight away, but this behavior has vanished. Has something changed that we should be aware of, and is there something we can do to make conditional get great again? Without mediation conditional, the passkeys work as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, we get passkey suggestions in the username field, in Safari it's only password suggestions. To make things even stranger, the same code works as it used to in our test environment. It triggers a small popup by the username field and activates the fingerprint reader. If I cancel this, I can click on the Passwords icon and get passkey suggestion there.

After updating a device to iOS 26, the same HTML is rendered with noticeably smaller fonts compared to previous iOS versions. No code or HTML changes were made. Safari Web Extension: This extension can read ... including passwords...
I want to migrate from a Safari App Extension to a Safari Web Extension, but don't know how to get rid of the message, telling users that my extension can access their passwords. Safari drag multi-tasking gesture not working for Safari on iPad Pro M1
Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue. For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right. However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all. I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Frontend Does Not Display Password Validation Error (e.g., “Password Cannot Contain Your Name”)
Description When creating an Apple ID via the web form, if the user’s chosen password contains their own name, the server correctly returns an error (e.g., "Password cannot contain your name") in the PUT request's JSON response. However, this error is not shown on the frontend, leaving users unaware of why the form silently fails or stalls. Steps to Reproduce Go to the Apple ID account creation page (https://appleid.apple.com/account). Enter valid account details where the password includes the user's first or last name (e.g., Johnacb2331!l for a user named John Doe). Complete all fields, including phone number verification and captcha. Submit the form and monitor the Network tab in your browser’s DevTools. Observe that the form appears to hang, loop, or silently fail. Open the PUT request to /account — the response JSON will contain the relevant validation error (e.g., “Password cannot contain your name”), but the user is not shown this. Expected Behavior The password validation error (e.g., containing the user’s name) should be immediately displayed in the UI next to the password field to inform the user and allow for correction. Actual Behavior No error is shown in the UI. The form appears to fail silently, leaving the user confused. The actual reason for failure is only visible through browser developer tools in the PUT response payload. However, other IOS devices besides some devices came out as a number starting with +82, and I received feedback that the call was not connected properly. Subject: Unexpected system confirmation dialog when opening a Universal Link Description of the issue: We’re implementing a login flow using Native iOS apps, Universal Links, and OpenID Connect authentication. Our domain is correctly configured with the apple-app-site-association file, and Universal Links work as expected. However, under certain circumstances, the behavior differs on the same login page: The user connects to the OIDC provider in their mobile browser. Instead of automatically switching to the Native application, a popup asks the user to open the app. The behavior depends on how the login page is opened: When opened in a new browser tab, the Universal Link opens the app immediately without showing any system confirmation dialog. When the same tab is reused without a page refresh, iOS displays a system confirmation dialog asking the user to open the link in the app. This confirmation dialog doesn’t appear in the first scenario. This additional system dialog impacts the user experience, as we aim for a frictionless and seamless login flow with minimal confirmation steps. Question: Why does the app switch work automatically only the first time? Is this intentional iOS behavior? If so, what security requirement or system rule causes a confirmation dialog when reusing the same tab, but not when redirecting in a new tab or pressing a button on the reused tab? Is this expected design, or should we adjust our side to avoid this dialog? Environment details: Verified on two devices iOS versions: 18.7.2, 26.1 Thanks for your help.

SafariDomains Per App VPN Profile Error on iOS 26.0
iOS 26 (from beta 1 to beta 2) We have a VPN app that installs a per-app VPN profile with SafariDomains to filter Safari network traffic. This setup works as expected on iOS versions lower than 26.0. See here more details on SafariDomains: https://developer.apple.com/business/documentation/Configuration-Profile-Reference.pdf On iOS 26, all SafariDomains configured to go through the per-app VPN result in the following error: "Safari can’t open the page. The error was: Unknown Error" Additional Details: Only SafariDomains encounter this error. Other managed apps traffic through the per-app VPN works correctly. Steps to Reproduce: Install the VPN app with a per-app VPN profile. Configure SafariDomains with any URL (e.g., example.com). Open Safari and navigate to the configured URL. Example Configuration: We tested with a simple example by adding only one URL to SafariDomains (example.com). Authenticator app not reopening my PWA
I have a simple website, that I would like to make available as a progressive webapp, so I can somewhat customize what happens when people add the website to their homescreen (using the Share button) and maybe, in the future, use PWABuilder or something similar to publish it in some stores. My website needs authentication using OIDC, which after some redirects within the PWA opens an authenticator app on the phone. When the app returns from authenticating however, it opens a new browser tab instead of my PWA, so there is no context and the login fails. I am under the impression that this used to work, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure what the problem is, I have no idea how, when the Authenticator app opens a URL (which is what I assume is happening under the hood), iOS or Safari or whatever would know which app to open (as the redirect URL is to the OIDC Idp, not the URL of my Web app). Any hints where I could look for a solution? Thanks!

Guideline 3.2.2 Rejection - Correct Implementation for Donations via SFSafariViewController
Hello everyone, We've had our app rejected twice under Guideline 3.2.2 regarding charitable donations, and we're seeking clarification on the correct implementation. We've read the guidelines but want to confirm the technical approach with the community's experience. The Rejection Reason: Apple states: "We still noticed that your app includes the ability to collect charitable donations within the app..." They specify that since we are not an approved nonprofit, we must use one of the alternatives, primarily: "provide a link to your website that launches the default browser or SFSafariViewController for users to make a donation." Our Current (Rejected) Implementation: User taps a "Help" button in our native app. A native modal appears inside our app where the user enters their donation amount and email address for the receipt. The user clicks "Donate," which then opens an SFSafariViewController to our website's payment page (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). The amount and email are passed as URL parameters to pre-fill the form. Our Questions for the Community: Is the issue solely the fact that we have a native modal for data entry? We understand we cannot process the payment in-app, but we thought collecting the intent (amount, email) was acceptable before handing off to Safari. What is the definitive, compliant flow? Option A: Should the "Help" button do nothing more than open an SFSafariViewController to a generic donations landing page on our website (https://ourwebsite.com/donate), with no data pre-filled? The user must then navigate and enter all information on the website itself. Option C: The rejection also mentions SMS. Has anyone had success implementing a "Text-to-Donate" link instead of a web flow? Wording: The button in our app currently says "Donate". Should this be changed to a more passive call to action like "Visit Website to Donate" to make it absolutely clear the transaction is external? We want to ensure our next submission is successful. SFSafariApplication doesn't transmit messages to docked website.
Hi! I'm working on a web extension for Safari and I need to send messages from the containing application to JavaScript. For this I use the method class func dispatchMessage( withName messageName: String, toExtensionWithIdentifier identifier: String, userInfo: [String : Any]? = nil ) async throws of the SFSafariApplication class. If the site is opened in Safari in normal mode, everything works as expected. However, if the site is "docked", the messages are not transmitted to this "Web App". Is it possible to somehow link the container application to the docked website so that messages from the application are received by this "Web App"? That you.

I'm trying to use DNR to force safe search with Qwant search engine. Under certain circumstances (scenario described below) the search is performed with an API which contains the safe search level in a URL parameter. A typical query URL is https://api.qwant.com/v3/search/web?q=test&count=10&locale=fr_FR&offset=0&device=desktop&tgp=1&safesearch=0&displayed=true&llm=true. I want a DNR rule to force safesearch to be 2 (= strict) (from some javascript code) : { id: 1, priority: 1, action: { type: 'redirect', "redirect": { "transform": { "queryTransform": { "addOrReplaceParams": [{ "key": "safesearch", "value": "2" }] } } } }, condition: { "urlFilter": "api.qwant.com/v3/search", "resourceTypes": ["xmlhttprequest"] }, } When this rule is activated, I end up with a URL with the original safesearch parameter AND the forced one : https://api.qwant.com/v3/search/web?q=test&count=10&locale=fr_FR&offset=0&device=desktop&tgp=1&safesearch=0&displayed=true&llm=true&safesearch=2. To reproduce this request (with the previous DNR rule in place) : navigate to https://www.qwant.com search for some string (test in my case). The sequence is: App → Website A (set cookie and redirect) → Google → Website A (check cookie) → App After upgrading the app, the first consent attempt fails because the cookie cannot be written, causing the check cookie step to fail. Passkey mediation conditional get
aID is an ID service for 150+ newspaper sites in Norway. Since the middle of January the average login time with passkeys on our site https://www.aid.no/ has increased for Safari users, the number of logins using passkey in Safari has decreased dramatically. Previously Safari was the browser that provided the best user experience during login, since it triggered fingerprint reader straight away, but this behavior has vanished. Has something changed that we should be aware of, and is there something we can do to make conditional get great again? Without mediation conditional, the passkeys work as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, we get passkey suggestions in the username field, in Safari it's only password suggestions. To make things even stranger, the same code works as it used to in our test environment. It triggers a small popup by the username field and activates the fingerprint reader. If I cancel this, I can click on the Passwords icon and get passkey suggestion there.

I have an iOS app that generates and renders a custom HTML document inside a UIWebView. After updating a device to iOS 26, the same HTML is rendered with noticeably smaller fonts compared to previous iOS versions. No code or HTML changes were made. Context HTML is generated dynamically and rendered in a UIWebView The HTML is embedded inside a custom XML wrapper The issue happens only on iOS 26 Earlier iOS versions render the font size correctly

I want to migrate from a Safari App Extension to a Safari Web Extension, but don't know how to get rid of the message, telling users that my extension can access their passwords. Safari drag multi-tasking gesture not working for Safari on iPad Pro M1
Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue. For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right. However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all. I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Frontend Does Not Display Password Validation Error (e.g., “Password Cannot Contain Your Name”)
Description When creating an Apple ID via the web form, if the user’s chosen password contains their own name, the server correctly returns an error (e.g., "Password cannot contain your name") in the PUT request's JSON response. However, this error is not shown on the frontend, leaving users unaware of why the form silently fails or stalls. Steps to Reproduce Go to the Apple ID account creation page (https://appleid.apple.com/account). Enter valid account details where the password includes the user's first or last name (e.g., Johnacb2331!l for a user named John Doe). Complete all fields, including phone number verification and captcha. Submit the form and monitor the Network tab in your browser’s DevTools. Observe that the form appears to hang, loop, or silently fail. Open the PUT request to /account — the response JSON will contain the relevant validation error (e.g., “Password cannot contain your name”), but the user is not shown this. Expected Behavior The password validation error (e.g., containing the user’s name) should be immediately displayed in the UI next to the password field to inform the user and allow for correction. Actual Behavior No error is shown in the UI. The form appears to fail silently, leaving the user confused. The actual reason for failure is only visible through browser developer tools in the PUT response payload.
