Apple Map Snapshot API broken??
I have been using the following python library to generate apple map snapshots. has worked fine until about ~12 hours ago - now all I'm getting is "bad request" for any snapshot with overlays. if it's just a snapshot with a defined center and no polyline overlays, it still works. perhaps something has changed with the api's way of parsing percent encoded parameters? it's super irritating that there's no changelog or source code to view. what the heck??? https://pypi.org/project/mapsnap/

Safari Web Extension service_worker failed to load
I built and extension for chrome, edge, and firefox. I'm porting the chrome extension to safari using the safari-web-extension-converter tool. This has worked successfully and I was able to publish my extension to the app store. I made some updates to the service worker code recently and I'm now being hit with an error when trying to load my unsigned extension into safari: The service_worker script failed to load due to an error. I've looked online at some other forums and haven't found anything helpful around how to debug this kind of error. Because the service worker is non-persistent in safari, I don't have access to the console logs of the service worker through the Develop > Web Extension Background Context menu. Has anyone successfully debugged this kind of error? Are there logs I can pull directly from safari that would help me here? Thanks in advance for the help!

Unwarranted Autofill prompt for non authenticator grid boxes
On Mac, If the user registers the Password and the Software Authenticator app for a website like PayPal then uses the Safari browser to login the Apple system is creating confusion. The system prompts to use the authenticator autofill for any grid like SMS OTP or even for the Email OTP. That creates confusion for the user as the SMS OTPs or other OTPs cannot be validated by auto filling the Authenticator TOTP. That fails the validation resulting in bad user experience. The system should not prompt the Autofill from the Authenticator app unless the grid box shown on the page was for the Authenticator app.

How to use APIs both loadFileUrl:allowingReadAccessTo: and loadHTMLString:baseURL:?
I need to load both the local source images and remote source images in WKWebView. The url of remote images is a relative url. To load the local images in WebView, I could use loadFileURL(:allowingReadAccessTo:). To load the remote images in WebView, I could use loadHTMLString(:baseURL:). But, I need both the local images and remote images. How can I do?

Forcing Reflow in Safari/Chrome on iOS When Switching from overflow-x: hidden to overflow-x: scrollcroll tant que l'utilisateur maintient son doigt sur l'écran
Hello everyone, We are encountering a specific issue on iOS devices (iPhone 15 Pro in our case) when using Safari and Chrome. The problem occurs when switching an element's overflow-x property from hidden to scroll while the user keeps their finger on the screen. Problem Description: The overflow-x property change does not trigger a reflow or render update immediately. This behavior causes the element to remain visually stuck in the previous hidden state until the user lifts their finger and interacts again. Context: The element is animated. The issue happens consistently when the user's finger remains on the screen during the property transition. What We’ve Tried: Explicitly forcing styles using element.style in JavaScript. Triggering element.offsetWidth or getBoundingClientRect() to force reflow. Applying manual transform changes in combination with overflow updates. Unfortunately, none of these approaches resolve the issue in real-time while the user’s finger is on the screen. Questions: Is there a recommended way to force a reflow or repaint in Safari/Chrome on iOS under these conditions? Are there known limitations with overflow-x transitions and user touch events on iOS? Are there any workarounds or best practices to handle such cases? Thank you in advance for any insights!

FaceTime camera returns promise before solving it
The strange_behaviour.mp4 video attached shows how when running a list of statements to open (startCamera) and close (closeCamera) the camera against a MacBook Pro 2019 using the FaceTime camera, these return their value almost immediately, when in reality the camera is still opening and closing. We believe that there might be a queue for statements to run against the camera and it finishes the awaits when all the statements are inserted in the queue instead of when they are actually solved. We also attached the expected_behaviour.mp4 video where we replicate the same flow but using an external camera instead of the FaceTime camera. In this video, the promises take a bit longer to return but they do once the camera has already been opened and closed the requested amount of times. The project used in the videos is attached as project.tar.xz. We would like to know if the behaviour in strange_behaviour.mp4 is replicable on your side and if there is a way to access the cameras to make it behave like when using an external camera (expected_behaviour.mp4). Web AR stopped working after the IOS 18.4 update for iPad gen9
So I have web Augmented Reality apps hosted on AWS S3. It worked fine for a month, but as soon as the IOS 18.4 update was installed they stopped working. It works on every other device and IOS versions. The URLs for the mentioned AR experiences: digitechonline.in/solsprefimaginewt8/ digitechonline.in/solsprefimaginewt8p2/ digitechonline.in/orocarear/ These AR experiences get stuck on the loading screen and either reload or give an error. Ideally the camera is supposed to open. I have tested it on Safari, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers. They were created through Unity webgl and hosted on AWS S3 bucket. Please provide a quick solution to this.

Type 65 DNS queries
HI, I'm seeking help on the following: When members of public in Singapore are using iOS 14 and above version to surf gov't websites using Safari, noted that Safari is sending Type 65 DNS queries which had also rendered gov't websites slower as compared to similar chromium browsers. Is there any other workarounds that we can advise the public to adopt?

Disable Smart Punctuation from Webpage
I would like to know if there is a way to disable Smart Punctuation from the webpage rather than requiring the user to do so from the settings. Adding a "inputmode=verbatim" attribute to the input HTML tags for my webpage did that for all the web browsers I tested on Windows, Ubuntu, Android, and MacOS. I tested Chrome and Firefox on all platforms, as well as Edge on Windows and Safari on Mac and iOS. So far the only time it did not disable Smart Punctuation was on Safari on iOS, but it did on MacOS.

Failing Network Requests in Safari due to DNS cache.
We are seeing network errors in Outlook mail on iOS and MacOS safari browsers. As per current investigation, we notice these network error when the user tries to use outlook after leaving it open on Safari for a while. Observations: Issue present in both MacOS and iOS safari. Issue is not present in other webkit browsers like brave and edge on iOS. Issue is reproable on both mini and big owa on safari browser. Issue is not related to post requests being sent in different packets on safari browser. Requests are only blocked for outlook.office/outlook.live domains What does not fix this issue? Reloading the application Clearing cookie, local storage or session storage Unregistering service workers Redirecting to a different page and coming back to outlook domain Re authenticating the users What fixes this issue? Reconnecting to wifi or mobile network Reconnecting vpn Removing safari from background and reopening Flushing the dns in setting

How to interact programatically with the popup paste button
I am trying to figure out a way to programatically paste the contents of the clipboard into a series of text input fields. Specifically, this is for a security code entry screen, where the user will receive a code as a string of number characters. After verifying that the string represents a number, I split it into an array of single number chars, then paste the value at each index into each input. This works fine in Chrome and Firefox, but fails in Safari. After a lot of research, I have found that programatic pasting is a challenge on this platform. I did discover that if I listen for the focusin event and then get the contents of the clipboard, a popup "paste" button will appear. Clicking it does nothing, but I'm thinking that I might be able to grab the button in code and bend it to my will. Can anyone tell me how to interact with that button?

How to Remove an Old Email-Associated Passkey from Apple Servers?
I noticed that when logging in to idmsa.apple.com, my old email address still appears as an option, even though I’ve updated my Apple ID to a new email. I understand that passkeys rely on a public-private key pair, with the public key stored on the server (e.g., idmsa.apple.com) and the private key saved locally in iCloud Keychain. Could you please clarify: 1. How can I request Apple to delete the public key associated with my old email address from their servers? 2. Is there a way for users to manage or update server-side passkeys without contacting Apple support? 3. Does this behavior affect my account security in any way? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Integrating Sales Software with Website Payment via Apple Pay
Hi. I have reviewed the process of integrating Apple Pay on the web, but I still don’t understand how to implement it. For example: I currently have software A and a payment website that my software provides to restaurants. So, how can I integrate Apple Pay on the restaurants' payment websites? I read that to integrate, we need to register for a Merchant ID with Apple Pay. So, is it the restaurants or the software provider who should register? Each restaurant will have a different website domain -> does that mean when registering the Merchant ID, the website domain is the payment website of each restaurant? When Apple Pay provides the verification file, the sales software (i.e., the payment website) must help the restaurants upload that file to the payment website of each restaurant, right? To verify if it is valid or not depends on Apple Pay, right? If it is valid, the Apple Pay payment button will be displayed, correct?

Safari extension service worker appears with a delay in the Develop dropdown
Hi, I'm developing an extension and I need to debug console logs that are logged in the Service Worker. The worker is configured in the manifest and is generally working as expected: However, when I open the browser, go to any site, and open Develop -> Service Workers or Develop -> Web Extension Background Content it is not visible there, so I can't really access the logs: But then I noticed that if I go out of focus from the browser for some time (and probably let the SW die), it becomes visible and I can open it without an issue: So, a couple of questions: Why isn't it instantly accessible? The extension Service Worker dev tools should be accessible regardless of what is happening to the tab or the browser, even if the SW terminates. Why does it eventually appear under Web Extension Background Content instead of the Service Workers when it is in fact an SW?
