Hi guys,
I noticed that Apple created a really engaging visual effect for browsing spatial videos in the app. The video appears embedded in glass panel with glowing edges and even shows a parallax effect as you move around. When I tried to display the stereo video using RealityView, however, the video entity always floats above the panel.
May I ask how does VisionOS implement this effect? Is there any approach to achieve this effect or example code I can use in my own code.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm creating an educational App that allows doing computational design in an immersive environment with the Vision Pro. The App is free and can be found here:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/arcade-topology/id6742103633
The problem I have is that the mesh of voxels I currently create use ModelEntity and I recently read that this is horrible for scalability. I already start to see issues when I try to use thousands of voxels. I also read somewhere that I should then take advantage of GPUs and use metal to that end. I was wondering if someone could point me to a tutorial or article that discusses this. In essence, I need to create a 3D voxel mesh, and those voxels have to update their opacity within an iterative loop.
Thanks!

For the M2 Apple Vision Pro, there's "a general guideline, we recommend no more than 500 thousand triangles for an immersive scene, with 250 thousand for applications in the shared space." --https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2024/10186/?time=147
Is there a revised recommendation for the M5 Apple Vision Pro?
I’m facing an issue while using CustomHoverEffect. In my view, there is a long title, which causes the title to be truncated. When the user hovers over it, the title should scroll. Although I have already implemented the scrolling effect, I am unsure how to trigger the scroll on hover. How should I approach this?
In ARKit for visionOS, I can track the user's head with a HeadAnchor, but it will not give the location. However, I can get the device's transform by calling queryDeviceAnchor(atTimestamp: CACurrentMediaTime()) on a WorldTrackingProvider.
Why the difference? - if I know the device's transform, I effectively know the head's transform.
My app is getting video from UVC device, and I wish to display it in an Immersive Space. But when I open Immersive Space, the UVC capture will just stop.AI said it's due to confliction in Camera pipeline. But I don't really understand, I don't need to use any on device camera, why it conflict with my UVC...
I’m working on an iOS app that needs to measure the area of planes or surfaces, like the length and width of objects, just like the Apple Measure app does. I’ve been exploring ARKit, but I’m curious if there are any APIs or techniques that can help automate the process of detecting and measuring planes.
Specifically, I’m looking for a way to automatically detect and measure planes (e.g., from a top-down view). For example: Measuring a box width and length. I have attached a screenshot and a video of the Apple Measure App doing it.
Does Apple provide any tools or APIs for this, or are there any best practices I should know about? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled something similar.

I am using Entity of RealityKit to display virtual content, however I find that sometimes the real object in front of the virtual content can not occulude the virtual content.
For example, I place an Entity in a room, but when I walk into another room, I can still see the Entity through the wall.
I wonder how should I fix the problem. Thank you!
Hi I know it's possible to play equirectangular VR180 video either SBS or MV-HEVC. And for fisheye video, the only way I know is to convert it into an AIVU for playback.
Is there any way to directly play fisheye video using AVPlayer? Thanks a lot!

I’m using ARKit + SceneKit (Swift) with ARWorldTrackingConfiguration and detectionImages to place a 3D object (USDZ via SCNScene(named:)) when a reference image is detected. While the image is tracked, the object stays correctly aligned.
Goal: When the tracked image is no longer visible, I want the placed node to remain visible and fixed at its last known pose (no drifting) as I move the camera.
What works so far: Detect image → add node → track updates When the image disappears → keep showing the node at its last pose
Problem: After the image is no longer tracked, the node drifts as I move the device/camera. It looks like it’s still influenced by the (now unreliable) image anchor or accumulating small world-tracking errors.
Question: What’s the correct way in ARKit to “freeze” the node at its last known world transform once ARImageAnchor stops tracking, so it doesn’t drift?
Hello,
I was looking back into downloading the Tracking geographic locations in AR sample app from https://developer.apple.com/documentation/arkit/tracking-geographic-locations-in-ar
Unfortunately the Download links to the .zip of the DisplayingAPointCloudUsingSceneDepth sample project.
The exact same issue occurs when trying to download the sample code from https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ARKit/creating-a-fog-effect-using-scene-depth
Wondering if those links are deliberately broken because of possible deprecations.
Thanks to any Apple Engineer willing to look into that.
Hello,
Let me ask you a question about Apple Immersive Video.
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/07/new-apple-immersive-video-series-and-films-premiere-on-vision-pro/
I am currently considering implementing a feature to play Apple Immersive Video as a background scene in the app I developed, using 3DCG-created content converted into Apple Immersive Video format.
First, I would like to know if it is possible to integrate Apple Immersive Video into an app.
Could you provide information about the required software and the integration process for incorporating Apple Immersive Video into an app?
It would be great if you could also share any helpful website resources.
I am considering creating Apple Immersive Video content and would like to know about the necessary equipment and software for producing both live-action footage and 3DCG animation videos.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m planning to play Apple Immersive Video as a background in the app. In doing so, I would also like to place some 3D models as RealityKit entities and spatial audio elements.
I’m also planning to develop the visionOS app as a Full Space Mixed experience. Is it possible to have an immersive viewing experience with Apple Immersive Video in Full Space Mixed mode? Does Apple Immersive Video support Full Space Mixed?
I’ve asked several questions, and that’s all for now. Thank you in advance!
Using the example code posted here:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionOS/tracking-images-in-3d-space
I can register multiple ReferenceImage s with a ImageTrackingProvider, but only one updates at a time - to have realtime updating, I can only have one ImageAnchor in my field of view at a time.
Is it possible to track multiple imageAnchors at the same time in the same field of view? As in having several ImageAnchor's tracked and entities updated to the transforms of the anchor in the same frame/moment from the Apple Vision Pro?

I am trying to launch a fully immersive game from Unity on a SwiftUI view. The game is using Metal Rendering with Compositor Services.
I added the unity Xcode project into the workspace, added the necessary bridge code. When I click on the button to call ufw?.showUnityWindow(), it does not start and I get the following in the console:
AR session failed to start after 5 seconds. Is the app configured to use an immersive space?
Sorry for the cross-post but it's now two days in and this isn't fixed.
If you try to use Xcode 16.3b3 with visionOS, it won't download the visionOS SDK, gives a 'network error' so you can't use the latest beta for Apple Vision Pro.

I am currently creating an app where two people share an instance of an immersive space so that they are able to point to certain things in the immersive space. Right now, other people are hidden behind the immersive space, and even with people awareness enabled for everything, people are still too difficult to see. I've found this documentation (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/arkit/occluding-virtual-content-with-people) which describes what I want to do, but it is only listed as working on iOS an iPadOS. Is there anything similar to this that will work on VisionOS?
Hi folks, I’m new to Vision Pro stack, still trying to learn all the nuances. Here is a problem I can’t seem to find an answer.
I placed entity A( a small .02 radius sphere) inside entity B( size:.1 box). Both entities have HoverEffectComponent, and both inputcomponent is set to .direct. Entity A is NOT a child of Entity B. When I direct touch Entity B, I noticed that Entity A’s hover effect is fired as well. This only happens if Entity A‘s position is inside Entity B. The gesture that is only targeted at Entity A doesn’t work either. I double checked Entity A collider which sits inside entity B collider, my direct touch shouldn’t have trigger its hove effect. Having one collider inside another seems to produce unpredictable behavior? Thanks in advance 🙏🙏🙏
Context: I’m trying to create an invisible bound around Entity A, so when my hand approaches the bound to grab Entity A, a nice spotlight hover effect would fire first on the bound before hand reaching entity A.
I have been concentrating on developing the visionOS application. While I am currently quite familiar with RealityKit, CompositorServices has also captured my attention. I have not yet acquired knowledge of CompositorServices. Could you please clarify whether it is essential for me to learn CompositorServices? Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could provide insights into the advantages of RealityKit and CompositorServices.
Hi,
I'm trying to correct the lens distortion in frames provided by Enterprise API camera frame provider. The frames provided seem to have only in/extrinsics info, but not the distortion lookup table.
Is there some magic setting, or function to do that (I can't seem to find anything like this)? Or is there a way to use AVCameraCalibrationData together with provider?
Hi
I try to make a 360 stereo viewer, and I have made a ShaderGraphMaterial on Reality Composer Pro.
Im trying to use that material on a inverted sphere whitch is generated in Swift.
When I try to attach the material I get this error "Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation"
Here is the code (sorry im noob =) ):
import SwiftUI
import RealityKit
import RealityKitContent
import PhotosUI
struct ImmersiveView: View {
@Environment(AppModel.self) var appModel
var body: some View {
RealityView { content in
// Add the initial RealityKit content
guard let skyBoxEntity = await createSkybox() else {
return
}
content.add(skyBoxEntity)
}
}
}
private func createSkybox () async -> Entity? {
var matX = try? await ShaderGraphMaterial(named:
"/Root/Mat_Stereo360",
from: "360Stereo.usda",
in: realityKitContentBundle)
let sphere = await MeshResource.generateSphere(radius:1000)
let entity = await Entity()
entity.components.set(ModelComponent(mesh: sphere, materials:
[matX])). //ERROR HERE:
Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation
//entity.scale *= .init(x:-1, y:1, z:1)
return entity
}
I hope someone can help me =)
Best regards,
Kim
