onTapGesture is working for finger, but not Pencil
Here's a weird one. Do I need to do something different to handle Pencil taps, or is this a bug?The following code shows a standard `Button`, and a few of custom Views called `SelectButtons`. The `Button` registers a tap with a Pencil or finger, as expected. The `SelectButtons` only work with my finger, on my iPad Pro. The Pencil taps don't register. struct ContentView: View { let nums = [1,2,3] @State var selected: Int = 1 var body: some View { VStack { Button(action: { print(Test button tapped)}) { Text(Test button) } ForEach(nums, id: .self) { num in HStack { SelectButton(num: num, current: self.$selected) Text(Number (num)) } } } } } struct SelectButton: View { let num: Int @Binding var current: Int var isSelected: Bool { current == num } var body: some View { ZStack { Circle().inset(by: 5).stroke() Circle().inset(by: 7).fill(isSelected ? Color.blue : Color.clear) }.frame(width:40, height:40) .onTapGesture { print(SelectButton.onTapGesture (self.num)) self.current = self.num } }

Reply to Apple pencil force non-perpendular force calculation
If you are pushing the pencil along its axis then the force perpendicular to a surface will be a fraction of the force along the axis - you want to divide the exerted total force along the pencil axis into two components - one perpendicular to the surface and one parallel to the suface. The component perpendicular to the surface will be smaller than the whole by a trigonometric factor - you want to multiply by the sin. BUT..........But you don't do that because the pencil will slip along the surface! Instead you torque the pencil into the surface. (Actually you learned this technique in Kindergarden and that's why you broke all those pencil point tips because you were trying too hard.) The result is that the pencil tip only exerts a force perpendicular to the surface and there is no slipping force along the surface. The surface pushes up against the pencil point and you divide that total force into two components - one perpendicular to the axis of

Reply to Apple Pencil Pairing Issues
Had the exact same issue. A brand new Apple Pencil would only pair for a short period of time and then would disconnect. I tried the hairdryer hack - held the pencil under it for 2 minutes. And magic - the Pencil was detected with 0% battery (I assume it was an old stock since it was a gift purchased on eBay, hence why the battery was ded). It’s now paired and connected. Thank you to the kind humans that shared this hack - you’re going straight to heaven, no question.

Reply to apple pencil won’t connect
I am seeing what appears to be the same issue. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 2020 (4th Gen) The installation of iPad OS 17.3 cause the pencil to stop connecting and was no longer recognised. (Although snapping it to the case, still gets the Pencil notification) None of the usual remedies work. Restarting, resetting network settings, unpairing/repairing. Tried them all. Bluetooth will not connect to the pencil at all. This is a brand-new 2nd Gen Pencil - with a matte finish and was working prior to 17.3 This is where it gets weird... I also happen to have a (slightly damaged) older 2nd Gen Pencil - this seemingly identical pencil has a slightly smoother finish and was bought in 2020. The older pencil continues to work fine. But the new pencil is unrecognised. This makes me think the OS update included the support for one version of the pencil but not the more recent. I just installed the iPad OS 17.4 Beta to see if this would resolve th

Will Apple charge me 30% commission on B2B client fees for app downloads?
I am developing an app that I am providing as a managed service to B2B clients. One of my business model options is not to charge users of the app for downloads, but instead to record the number of downaloads and bill my B2B clients for the number of downloads on a monthly basis. MY QUESTION IS - in this scenario, will Apple charge me the standard 30% commission on the fees I will earn from my B2B clients? Thanks in advance for useful answers!

Reply to Mojave 10.14. beta Wacom tablet Click function not working
In the saem position here. Latest Beta og Mojave, and followed all the security and privacy settings but still the pen tip click will not work. The eraser works liek the pen tip left click should. The pen pressure is being caputred, tap or pressure input is recorded as can be seen via system prefs wacom settgins, so this has still not be resovled by those who are responsbilie for drivers and integrating with macOS. Is it Apple or Wacom or both at this point?

Reply to iOS 14 Beta 3 Bluetooth issue
It seems like lots of people are having problems, and I know it's a beta but most of my problems lie in my iPad Pro (2019) and my second generation pencil. I'm a graphic designer and didn't want to update but since my phone did my iPad did and now I haven't been able to use my pencil for 4 days. Not great. I've looked for everything online and haven't found a thing and my apple appointment isn't for 2 weeks. It's crazy because all that shows on my iPad is unavailable even after resetting everything. Pencil is connected to the side of iPad. I don't get how it could be unavailable. So Apple maybe some help?

Drawing Pad & Pencil for MacBook and iMac Computers
Hello my fellow apple enjoyers my name is Jackson. I have an idea to share with you today that utilises existing apple hardware as well as slightly designing a new product. My idea is a sketch pad for MacBooks / iMacs, this idea will include a digital sketch pad that can connect to your computer via Bluetooth or wire, possibly varying in sizes (maybe a 10x10 inch and a more rectangle one) and it will let you to use the Apple Pencil to allow you to sketch notes, draw and use with Adobe programs such as photoshop, premiere pro, light room and after effects Just a simple idea that I think would be awesome to see come to life and will be an awesome product for the more creative people that like the bigger iPad Pro and pencil combos!

Apple Developer Program fee charged but membership still pending
Hello, I subscribed to the Apple Developer Program and the annual fee was successfully charged from my card, however my membership status is still showing as Pending and has not been activated yet. I have already contacted Apple Developer Support via email, but I haven’t received any response so far.

Reply to Is there a scribble gesture for new line/return?
I agree. The apple pencil is a waste of money without the feature to begin a new line. It is false advertisement to make it seem like the pencil will make note taking much easier because it does not and actually causes users to fall behind.
