Implementation of Screen Recording permissions for background OCR utility
I am exploring the development of a utility app that provides real-time feedback to users based on their active screen content (e.g., providing text suggestions for various communication apps). To achieve this, I am looking at using ReplayKit and Broadcast Upload Extensions to process screen frames in the background via OCR. I have a few questions regarding the Screen Recording permission and App Store Review: Permission Clarity: Is it possible to trigger the Screen Recording permission request in a way that clearly communicates the utility nature of the app without the system UI making it look like a standard video recording? Background Persistence: Can a Broadcast Extension reliably stay active in the background while the user switches between other third-party apps (like messaging or social apps) for the purpose of continuous OCR processing? App Store Guidelines: Are there specific Privacy & Data Use guidelines I should be aware of when an app requires persistent screen acces

GST Tax Form Question
I am in the end stages of creating my app and apple is saying I need to include Business number and GST (RT) number - I'm Canadian and not sure how this applies to developers in other countries. Just wondering if any developers from Canada can shed light on this process of getting a GST number, the CRA is saying you can create a GST account/number once your business reaches $30,000 is revenue so its seems different than what Apple is saying to do. This is my first time creating an app and I'm a solo developer.

You are only required to create an account once you reach $30k in revenue. You can always voluntarily register, which you would need to do in this case. The problem here is that Apple is the retailer and Apple handles all of the tax collection and remission to CRA. Apple wants to have its CRA account tied to your CRA account because of the commissions that Apple charges you. If you have further questions, I recommend contacting CRA directly. They're usually very helpful. Unfortunately, this kind of business arrangement is actually very unusual as businesses go. But Apple is large enough so that CRA will understand the business from your perspective and should be able to provide assistance. Unfortunately, the entire process of connecting your CRA account with Apple can take a long time. And since Apple is a US company, there are also IRS forms you'll have to fill out. All of these forms can take some time to fill out - think months, not days.

Dev Acct membership enrollment limbo
I signed up for membership on Monday March 16th. It took my credit card info and put me in ‘Pending’ state. My cc was charges $99 but when I go back to my account it has a box for me to continue to signup for membership where it asks to charge my account again. I tried using the account support where it asks to with provider a phone number to call me or to send an email. I chose phone. It called me almost immediately but it was already in the middle of explaining options to select. And before I could get to my keypad it said that my time had expired. ‘Good Bye’. I went back to try again and saw a case id assigned. But it would not let me do another callback or email. Instead I got “Error processing your request”. I’ve tried for 3 hours trying to find another channel to get help. They have my money and I dont have membership. can anyone suggest where I go from here?

Doesn't match the entitlements file's value for the com.apple.developer.driverkit.userclient-access entitlement.
My application will create a virtual touchpad. The problem I encountered is: click on the Product menu, select Archives, then select the Distribute App, then click on Drill Distribution, then click on Distribute, and then a prompt appears: Provisioning profile Mac Team direct Provisioning Profile:com.xxx.xxxdoesn't match the entitlements file's valuefor the com.apple.developer.driverkit.userclient-access entitlement. Reply to Why are Family Controls API requests taking this long?
Thanks for pointing me to the code-level support channel. I’ve submitted a request there including my Team ID and full context of the issue. While this isn’t a traditional code bug, I described it as an entitlement inconsistency across app extensions to help with investigation. I'm honestly pleading this is resolved as soon as possible cause this is really affecting us badly. Appreciate the guidance.

DriverKit Entitlement Model Has No Viable Path for Open Source and Community-Maintained Drivers
While I welcome the arrival of a userspace implementation of drivers, DriverKit as it stands has some notable flaws. My main concern is the ability of open-source projects like HoRNDIS being able to access paid developer accounts and the limited entitlement scope (plus the waiting period) for what is essentially a hobbyist free project. Even if the developer is a professional company, some legacy hardware will go unsupported because of a lack of support from the vendor. Providing a way for users who need access to older hardware would be needed. Three concrete requests: A class-level or wildcard VID/PID entitlement for open source projects with a verifiable public repository A free or reduced-cost entitlement path for non-commercial volunteer-maintained drivers Published approval criteria and timelines so projects can plan accordingly Depreciating kexts without providing an accessible successor for community projects isn't security, it is gatekeeping access to hardware that is critically needed. A free or reduced-cost entitlement path for non-commercial volunteer-maintained drivers If you haven't already, please file a bug asking for the dev-only entitlements to be enabled on free developer accounts, and post the bug number back here. I can't promise it will happen, but it's an interesting idea that I don't think we've really considered. Published approval criteria and timelines so projects can plan accordingly Unfortunately, publishing truly formal criteria is much more difficult than it sounds since, in practice, it's very difficult to come up with a criteria set that EXACTLY covers every reasonable use case while also excluding every possible unreasonable use case... and that assumes we could even come up with every use case. However, on this point: Even if the developer is a professional company, some legacy hardware will go unsupported because of a lack of support from the vendor. Reply to File Export from iOS - eventually import too
It took me a little bit to realize that tapping on the text in the Share to Files interface provided a way to change the file name - when I share one item. In some online tutorials there was a way to set the full filename (like Export.csv) - but maybe that's only when writing to the app's file directory. Would you agree? I can't really think of a clean way to be able to name 2 files in that interface - so I fully understand why that's not available - and therefore I don't plan to proceed to a feedback for this. I should be able to combine elements so that I'm only sharing 1 item in for my original request. Could you clarify how DTS works now relative to these questions answered here on the forum? Since I did ask for a DTS - does this count as one? It doesn't matter to me right now because my dev account will renew soon. Thanks so much!

Thank you for your post. I see that you have already submitted those files for the issue and appreciate your efforts. The team is currently experiencing high workloads and only communicates when a fix is released due to company policies. I can assure you that this issue is on the team’s priority list. It has been marked as an existing bug and will be addressed as soon as a fix is available. Once the fix is released, the team will notify you via Feedback Assistant to test the new release. I understand that the process can sometimes be slow, and this bug may have been present for a longer period than anticipated. Albert Pascual

Thanks for that, always hard to read XML as Xcode presents that pretty good. It looks completely clean and the com.apple.developer.associated-domains only contain keys that are allowed https://developer.apple.com/documentation/BundleResources/Entitlements/com.apple.developer.associated-domains Will be good to go over that: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com.apple.developer.associated-appclip-app-identifiers So the string should start with applinks: and the section for app domains should only contain the app clips: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/supporting-associated-domains. I'm going to post a way for us to connect and go over your project to review the project. Probably we will need to go over Xcode. I'd like you to submit a code-level support request so we can discuss this further privately. When you create the request, indicate that you were referred by me at Apple and make sure to include a link to this thread. Albert Pascual

Expedite request won't load, chrome tools showing 500 error
We can not expedite an app because the interface wont load after selecting the company. We see the request with the JSON but there is a 500 error code with it and the form never loads. We cant even get to any support as there is a ERROR: label showing. I tried different browsers and internet connections, while clearing cache.
