Reply to Problem searching for text in XCode 7.0
OK, here is a kludge which at least allows a search for text strings in header files belonging to the new frameworks. (At least this is what i came up with. I imagine this is a really bad idea, and if anyone has a better one, that would be great. )Import the framework into the project, as described above. Create a new group, under the project - say ConcreteXXXHeaders, where XXX refers to the framework.Choose any header in a particular framework, and do: file->show in finder .(This brings you, in Finder, to the Headers section of the appropriate framework of the XCode.app bundle.)Select all the headers you want and drag them to the new group. Let's call these Concrete Headers, since they are really there. You can search the Concrete Headers for any text. As long as you include headers using #include framework_name/file_name.h (I'm doing C++) I think these Concrete Headers will not interfere with anything, (But I'm sure I will find out.)

Reply to Display not awakening after Beta El Capitan 15A263e install
I love it. A metaphysical colloquy on an Apple developers' forum. It must be a first.I don't know if this graphics problem is harware related or not (as opposed to software related). I doubt it is noise in the AC line, because the MBP sees only the transformer output from the charger, and I think it runs directly on battery output, anyway. I could be wrong. In any case, I didn't have this particular problem before El Capitan. I suppose there could be an issue with the power supply to the Dell external monitor (which is direct), or some other issue with its circuitry, and, in fact, there have been times even before EC when I've had to pull the plug on the monitor and restart it before I could get it to recognize the input signal from the Mac through the DP port. I couldn't even begin to troubleshoot that one, and if you've ever talked with Dell tech support, you would know it's limited to Pull the plug and Send it back, and that's on a good Dell day.As for Schrödinger and his cat, exactly half the time he didn

Reply to How do I change my user login name on El Capitan?
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Unlock Padlock > right-click your account in the left panel > Click Advanced Options...For the command line prompt, you need to change the entry next to Account Name. In spite of the warning above, this won't prevent you from accessing your account, but you will need to restart your Mac for the change to take effect.Let me know how it goes.-Max

Thumbnail View While Scrubbing
I can't find it in the docs so I thought I would run it by the group. Is it possible to add a thumbnail .VTT (or other format) track or media reference when playing a HLS file with the javascript player api? It would be nice to show thumbnails while a user scrubs the timeline.

Reply to accessibility UIPicker
After viewing the video sessions from 2012 to 2015 from WWDC, I was able to figure out how to set up a table cell and and group text labels into one phrase. However, I am disappointed in the current support provided for the UIPicker. This just isn't acceptable. The accessibility API needs to be expanded for elementsthat take input so that the user has a better experience. Specifically, it would be nice to have an API that summarizes the UIPicker and helps to describe how many columns have been placed side by side. If multiple columns are being used (ie, a date picker), it would also be nice if the user received the changing values periodically and cohesively across the columns.I am also very disappointed with the accessibility API for the UITextField. More API is needed to guide the user to understand the usage of things like customized keyboards and scrolling to edit multiple textfields. When a textfield is used in an alertViewController, the voice over message is incoherent as it bounces from textfi

App rejection for tinder-like feature
Hi,We are developing a dating app and there is a feature like Tinder where you can rate users in order to match with them and startOur app has been available in the AppStore with this feature for more than one year. With our last update for iOS9, our app has been rejected because it does not comply with point 14.1 of Apple guidelines: “Any App that is defamatory, offensive, mean-spirited, or likely to place the targeted individual or group in harm's way will be rejected”. Apple judges that this feature rates other users and can result in offensive or mean-spirited content. I sent a couple of messages to explain that this feature allows users to match and that users who have been “disliked” are not notified nor aware of it, but the app is still rejected. When I asked Apple what I could modify in order to comply with the guidelines, they answered with some App Review, Human interface guidelines and Licence Agreement. This feature exist in so many other dating apps like Tinder, Lovoo, Badoo, etc, I reall

NSUserDefaults initWithSuiteName on 10.11
I have an OSX app and a FinderSync extension that are sharing preferences using NSUserDefaults -initWithSuiteName. This works fine on OSX 10.10 - the main app and the extension successfully read/write preferences to ~/Library/Group Containers/<group>/Library/Preferences/<group>.plist. However, this same code does not seem to be working on the 10.11 GM. Under 10.11, the extension seems to be using ~/Library/Group Containers/<group>/Library/Preferences/<group>.plist correctly, but the main app seems to be using ~/Library/Preferences/<group>.plist. Both the app and the extension have com.apple.security.application-groups entitlements for <group>. Interestingly, when the main app is run under Xcode on 10.11, it correctly uses the Group Container preferences. Is this a bug in 10.11? Or did I miss some new security setting or entitlement change that is needed?

Reply to Does apple approve GPL based apps?
Thank you for sharing valuable information RLKingSoftware. Here is a google group link, in that they discussed about the same thing. Here are some points1) Nothing stops you from using a GPL version of doubango stack/iDoubs/IMSdroid in an application you create on top of it2) Nothing stops you from publishing it to Appstore (apple) or Playstore (google) - it will not be rejected just because you use GPL3)Apple will rejects the app when the developer of any component of that product complains to the apple.https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/doubango/fBTMSrRDPag/KDMsm8CJm90JI created a layer on top of frmework. If I share the code does apple approve the app?. I will be gratefull for your help.

Reply to Strategy for user personalization : iOS Safari Content Blockers
I have tried all kinds of approaches - app group, documents folder - and no luck. I cannot read the json file except from the local bundle.I've also tried to debug the ActionReuestHandler and that doesn't work either. I tried writing a file out from the request handler and nothing. So it seems like:a: the handler can't read files other than the one(s) provided in the bundle (this is useless for any kind of dynamic json)b: the handler has no debugging support at all. so, anything that goes in, can never be seen.😠

Reply to How can I fetch a contact by phone number
In the CNContactStore Class Reference, you can find this description: - unifiedContactsMatchingPredicate:keysToFetch:error: Use only the predicates from the CNContact class predicates. Compound predicates are not supported by this method. And in the CNContact class reference, you can find only two predicate methods: + predicateForContactsMatchingName: + predicateForContactsWithIdentifiers: (Other two predicate methods are for groups and containers.)So, if you want to choose contacts by phone number, you need to retrieve all contacts and filter it programatically yourself. You can use - enumerateContactsWithFetchRequest:error:usingBlock: to fetch all the contacts, but all the same,Compound predicates are not supported. (in predicate of CNContactFetchRequest)

Testing IAP
My company uses the Enterprise program to distribute apps to our large QA team. Up until recently, we had used a wildcard app ID/provisioning profile that matched the app ID of the app on our standard developer account (which was explicitly set). Because the bundle IDs were the same, In-App Purchase testing somehow worked on the Enterprise builds. (I only learned about this after the change and it seems like it should not be supported.) Now that the Enterprise builds have a different, explicit app ID to take advantage of App Groups, testing In-App purchase no longer works. I'm wondering if there is any way to do the testing with these builds, or if we can only use Ad-Hoc/TestFlight with the standard developer account.

Does UITableViewAutomaticDimension work with grouped UITableView ?
I have a UITableViewController created in storyboard and I have set the tableView to display in grouped mode.I am trying to use TableView's automatic cell height calculation by setting self.tableView.rowHeight = UITableViewAutomaticDimension; self.tableView.estimatedRowHeight = 50;and I am not overriding heightForRowAtIndexPath. The cells I am using are either Basic or subtitlte type (i.e no custom cells) and I have enabled multiline text for titleLabel and subtitleLabelby setting numberOfLines to 0However, the cell always display with height = 50 and it appears that the text labels are extending above and below the contentView to accomodate the multiline text.Things work perfectly well if I simply make the tableView to display in plain mode intead of grouped. So my question is 0 Does UITableViewAutomaticDimension work with grouped UITableView ?

Reply to app group container path is different on watch app
I'm super confused.. people are saying you can't use App Groups anymore but on this thread people are saying they can read the Settings preferences on watchOS 2 without any WatchConnectivity code.Even on the documentation page for Settings it gives you instructions on setting up an App Group so the watch can read the preferences.I've been trying to figure this out for days and still unclear.
