Reply to WebSocket connection instantly closes (FIN) on iPadOS 26 in PWA (Local HTTP/WS)
Additional Information: iPhoneSE(Generation unknown - details from client) running iOS 26.0.1: The WebSocket disconnection issue did not occur. Any iPad running iPadOS 26.0.1: I wanted to test this, but I couldn't perform the verification as I didn't have a corresponding device on hand. iPad(A16) running iPadOS 26.2: When accessing directly via the Chrome browser, the WebSocket remained stable and did not disconnect. However, the issue was reproducible when using the PWA version (installed via Chrome). (Does the PWA use the Safari/WebKit engine internally even when installed through Chrome?) Additionally, I found logs corresponding to the time of the occurrence under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. I am attaching those files to this post for reference. URL Filter and Content Filter Providers
Hello, I have a few questions regarding URL Filter (iOS 26) and Content Filter Providers. URL Filter According to the WWDC26 video, URL Filter appears to be available for both consumer and enterprise deployments. This seems consistent with the classic Network Extension Provider Deployment documentation (TN3134 – August 2025), where no specific deployment restriction is mentioned. However, a more recent document (Apple Platform Deployment, September 2025) indicates the following for URL Filter: “Requires supervision on iPhone, iPad and Mac” (with a green checkmark). 👉 My question: Is URL Filter actually available for consumer use on non-supervised iPhones (deployed on Testflight and AppStore), or is supervision now required? Content Filter Providers From past experience, I remember that Content Filter Providers were only available on supervised devices. Is it technically possible to force-update ASM/MDM-distributed App Store apps via a custom update server?
Hello, I’d like to clarify the technical limitations around app updates in an Apple School Manager (ASM) + MDM environment. Environment • iOS/iPadOS devices supervised and managed via Apple School Manager • Apps are distributed via ASM (VPP / Custom App) and managed by MDM • Apps are App Store–signed (not Enterprise/In-House) • Some apps include NetworkExtension (VPN) functionality • Automatic app updates are enabled in MDM Question From a technical and platform-design perspective, is it possible to: Deploy app updates for ASM/MDM-distributed App Store apps via a separate/custom update server, and trigger updates simultaneously across all managed devices, bypassing or supplementing the App Store update mechanism? In other words: • Can an organization operate its own update server to push a new app version to all devices at once? • Or is App Store + iOS always the sole execution path for installing updated app binaries? ⸻ My current understanding (please correct if wrong) Based on Apple documentation,

Swift Playgrounds iOS 26 support
My app uses Foundation Models and Apple Pencil. The app runs great through Xcode; however, due to Apple Pencil support, it has to be run on a physical device. However, Swift Playgrounds on iPad doesn't support iOS 26. I was just wondering if this is something that can be mentioned in submission notes. eg. The app needs to be compiled in Xcode but run on a physical device.” Or should we expect iPadOS 26 support for Swift Playgrounds by the time of submission? Thank you!

Whether SSC can be connected to the iPad real machine with Xcode to run the evaluation
👋Hi This problem is related to SSC. I remember that the form submitted last year needed to be filled in with Xcode or Playground test, and it seems that it was also mentioned: • If you use Xcode, the judges may use Simulator to run. • If you use Playground, it's a real machine. But my work this time will encounter two limitations: It will use the framework/API only available in iPadOS 26 (so if it is a Playground environment, it may not run, playground can't use iPadOS 26 SDK) It will also use some content that must be real to run (such as ARKit), which means that Xcode Simulator is not good. So I would like to ask: Does this year's review allow you to compile and connect the iPad to the real machine? Or did I misremember last year's regulations? If the judge's environment is fixed (for example, only Playground or only Simulator), how should I adjust the submission method or implement the scheme? Looking forward to your reply, thank you.

Keyboard does not appear in SFSafariViewController on iPad (App supports iPhone only)
Hello, I am experiencing an issue related to SFSafariViewController during App Store review, and I would like to ask whether this could be an OS-level behavior or a known issue. OSSystemExtensionsWorkspace on iPadOS
Hello! I have app (macos and iPadOS platforms) with empbedded DEXT. The DEXT executable runs fine on both platforms (ver 26.2). Trying to execute from iPad App code: let sysExtWs = OSSystemExtensionsWorkspace.shared let sysExts = try sysExtWs.systemExtensions(forApplicationWithBundleID: appBudleId) but always getting OSSystemExtensionError.Code.missingEntitlement error. Which entitlement am I missing? Thank You!

I have a question about Safari running in the background on iOS and iPadOS.
I coded two demo websites as follows (both written in NextJS): Website 1: I coded an interval counter that increments every 1 second. Website 2: I used the MediaRecorder API (described in the WebKit documentation: https://webkit.org/blog/11353/mediarecorder-api/). In the ondataavailable function, I periodically send a blob (once every 1 second) to my server. In the backend, I coded a POST API to upload this blob. I noticed that with website 1, the interval doesn't work when I run Safari in the background, even on iOS and iPadOS. However, website 2 works, meaning it still calls my API normally (I tried running Safari in the background for about 1-2 hours and it worked). So, does this mean Apple allows native APIs like MediaRecorder and its callbacks to run in the background?

MacCatalyst and the User's Documents Folder
I have a SwiftUI-based universal app which creates a file that it stores in documentsDirectory. On iOS/iPadOS, this file is stored in the application's Documents directory and is accessible via the Files app. On MacCatalyst, this operation does the same thing — it creates the file and stores it in ~/Library/Containers//Data/Documents. However what I want is for the document to be stored in ~/Documents, so that it is easily accessible to the user. How can I do that? I'd like it to occur without (for example) having to show a SaveFile panel...

Allow mildly translucent values for iPadOS app .png icons
I've been playing around with the recently published iPad PRO M5 13 and it's awesome in most ways I've been able to think of. But this video capture of the app I'm developing, for example, lacks it the app icon should be just slightly translucent as I see it. https://youtube.com/CAukICBrVzw However I'm not and UI/X person and this is primarily my personal preference only for an option to allow for devs.

👋 Hello According to the regulations, you can only create the swift playground project, not the Xcode project. ( But you can still use Xcode to create a swift playground project). And the iPadOS program of the swift playground project must be submitted to the competition requirements, and the swift playground project does not support watchOS. So I think you need to create a swift playground project and develop an iPadOS app and submit it to SSC.
