I am a newby of spatial computing. Here I am learning how to use ARKit to capture the environment texture and apply it on a ModelEntity of RealityKit on Vision Pro. But I do not find a demo of how to use EnvironmentLightEstimationProvider.
After checking the documentation, I also have some questions:
EnvironmentProbeAnchor.environmentTexture is a MTLTexture, but EnvironmentResource needs a CGImage. How do I translate MTLTexture to CGImage(Forgive me that I do not know much about Metal or other framework, so It will be better if there is a code that I can copy and paste directly)
It seems that the EnvironmentProbeAnchor can only get the light information around the device. But what should I do if I want get the light information around the ModelEntity so that I can apply the environment texture on it.
It will be better if you can provide a code demo about how to use the new api.
Thank you!

If I update vision pro size then textfield and button are not update as per its new size.
Its working on some scren but not in some screen.
Please refer below screenshot for your reference,
In Vision OS app, I have two types of windows:
Main App Window – This is the default window that launches when the app starts. It displays the video listings and other primary content.
Immersive Space Window – This opens only when a user starts streaming or playing a video.
Issue:
When entering the immersive space, the main app window remains visible in front of it unless manually closed. To avoid this, I currently close the main window when transitioning to immersive space and reopen it when exiting from immersive space. However, this causes the app to restart instead of resuming from its previous state.
Desired Behavior:
I want the main app window to retain its state and seamlessly resume from where it was before entering immersive mode, rather than restarting.
Attempts & Challenges:
Tried managing opacity, visibility but none worked as expected.
Couldn’t find a way to push the main window to the background while bringing the immersive space to the foreground.
Looking for a solution to keep the main window’s state intact while transitioning between immersive and normal modes.
Is there a way to provide CLHeading in visionOS so I can more accurately understand the direction in which a user is facing?

Hi Apple engineers,
I'm currently working on an app that uses the incoming microphone audio and gives visual feedback to the user about the incoming audio.
I would like to use Reality Composer Pro's Developer Capture to get a high quality recording of the app and its use cases for the App Store — but any time I have an in-progress capture, my app stops receiving the incoming audio. It almost seems as if the microphone audio is getting 'hijacked' during the screen capture, which prevents me from demonstrating the app's core features.
Could you please advise on how to proceed?

In the WWDC session titled "Deep dive into volumes and immersive spaces", the developers discussed adding a Spatial Tracking Session and an Anchor Entity to detect the floor. They then glossed over some important details. They added a spatial tap gesture to let the user place content relative to the floor anchor, but they left a lot of information.
.gesture(
SpatialTapGesture(
coordinateSpace: .immersiveSpace
)
.targetedToAnyEntity()
.onEnded { value in
handleTapOnFloor(value: value)
}
)
My understanding is that an entity has to have input and collision components for gestures like this to work. How can we add a collision to an AnchorEntity when we don't know its size or shape?
I've been trying for days to understand what is happening here and I just don't get it. It is even more frustrating that the example project that Apple released does not contain any of these features.
I would like to be able
Detect the floor plane
Get the position/transform of the floor plane
Add a collider to the floor plane
Enable collisions and physics on the floor plane
Enable gestures on the floor plane
It seems to me that the Anchor Entity is placed as an entirely arbitrary position. It has absolutely no relationship to the rectangle with the floor label that I can see in the Xcode visualization. It is just a point, not a plane or rect that I can use.
I've tried manually calculating the collision shape after the anchor is detected, but nothing that I have tried works. I can't tap on the floor with gestures. I can't drop entities onto the floor. I can't seem to do ANYTHING at all with this floor anchor other than place entity at the totally arbitrary location somewhere on the floor.
Is there anyway at all with Spatial Tracking Session and Anchor Entity to get the actual plane that was detected?
struct FloorExample: View {
@State var trackingSession: SpatialTrackingSession = SpatialTrackingSession()
@State var subject: Entity?
@State var floor: AnchorEntity?
var body: some View {
RealityView { content, attachments in
let session = SpatialTrackingSession()
let configuration = SpatialTrackingSession.Configuration(tracking: [.plane])
_ = await session.run(configuration)
self.trackingSession = session
let floorAnchor = AnchorEntity(.plane(.horizontal, classification: .floor, minimumBounds: SIMD2(x: 0.1, y: 0.1)))
floorAnchor.anchoring.physicsSimulation = .none
floorAnchor.name = "FloorAnchorEntity"
floorAnchor.components.set(InputTargetComponent())
floorAnchor.components.set(CollisionComponent(shapes: .init()))
content.add(floorAnchor)
self.floor = floorAnchor
// This is just here to let me see where visinoOS decided to "place" the floor anchor.
let floorPlaced = ModelEntity(
mesh: .generateSphere(radius: 0.1),
materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .black, isMetallic: false)])
floorAnchor.addChild(floorPlaced)
if let scene = try? await Entity(named: "AnchorLabsFloor", in: realityKitContentBundle) {
content.add(scene)
if let subject = scene.findEntity(named: "StepSphereRed") {
self.subject = subject
}
// I can see when the anchor is added
_ = content.subscribe(to: SceneEvents.AnchoredStateChanged.self) { event in
event.anchor.generateCollisionShapes(recursive: true) // this doesn't seem to work
print("**anchor changed** \(event)")
print("**anchor** \(event.anchor)")
}
// place the reset button near the user
if let panel = attachments.entity(for: "Panel") {
panel.position = [0, 1, -0.5]
content.add(panel)
}
}
} update: { content, attachments in
} attachments: {
Attachment(id: "Panel", {
Button(action: {
print("**button pressed**")
if let subject = self.subject {
subject.position = [-0.5, 1.5, -1.5]
// Remove the physics body and assign a new one - hack to remove momentum
if let physics = subject.components[PhysicsBodyComponent.self] {
subject.components.remove(PhysicsBodyComponent.self)
subject.components.set(physics)
}
}
}, label: {
Text("Reset Sphere")
})
})
}
}
}
Hello! I’ve got a USDZ export from Maya pipeline working with animation, and they load up nicely in the Vision Pro.
I’ve been checking out the animated sample files in the Augmented Reality/Quick Loop sample page, specifically, the first three at the top of the page.
I would like to know how they are created. I’m a 3d modeler and animator, not a programmer, so dipping my toe in RCP and Xcode/SwiftUI, but could used some informative tutorials for proper workflow. For example, in the Lunar Rover sample, there are lines emanating from the model, then text windows appear. Would I need to create all these extras inside Reality Composer Pro? I’d like to start creating immersive, narrative experiences (both in a volume, and fully immersive) but for prototyping, I want to learn the proper way to add this type of functionality. I think I remember seeing something to do with “schemas” involved. I’m assuming there might be some coding to setup in RCP for when items are selected, then an associated animation is triggered. Can anyone point me towards the relevant documentation to help me get started? Remember, I don’t code. ;)
Here are my recent Vision Pro experimentations.

I’m also proficient with Unreal Engine, but getting content packaged and over to AVP is still not ready for prime time, so i’m exploring the native approach.
Thanks for helping point me in the right direction!

I'm working on an iOS app using ARKit and RealityKit where I scan QR codes and want to place 3D models at the exact position of the QR code in the real world.
Is it possible to accurately place a 3D model at the exact position of a QR code in AR using ARKit and RealityKit? Specifically, I want the model to appear at the precise location where the QR code is detected, rather than just somewhere in the AR space.
If this is possible, could you point me in the right direction or recommend the best approach to achieve this?
Thank you for your help!
Is this behaviour expected? For example, if I'm using
let materials = [SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: false)]
occlusion works normally, but with
let materials = [SimpleMaterial(color: .red.withAlphaComponent(0.5), isMetallic: false)]
i can see my cube through real-world objects, like tables, columns, etc.
I'm getting the same behaviour if using CustomMaterial from shader and applying
customMaterial.blending = .opaque and customMaterial.blending = .transparent(opacity: ) respectively
I am currently developing a game that runs on VisionOS using RealityKit and Swift.
I have a question regarding particle emitters.
It seems that there is a sorting order (render queue) between particle emitters themselves, but there doesn’t appear to be a render queue between particle emitters and regular model entities.
If such a feature exists, could you please provide a simple example?
Thank you!
I was watching the Developer videos, and there was mention that RealityView handles persistent world data differently and also automatically for us.
I am having an issue finding the material I need to get up to speed on that.
In ARKit, I was able to place a model with the world data and recall that .map data. It even stored a reference image for the scene to help match the world data.
I'm looking for the information on how to implement and work with those same features with RealityView, as it seems to be better/automatically integrated?
I need help being pointed in the right direction. Sample code would be amazing.

Hi, I added DockingRegion to my scene from Reality Composer Pro, and I am able to load up the scene, but DockingRegion is getting ignored and the scene is getting rendered with no change in AVPlayerViewController window. As it can be seen in Reality Composer Pro screenshot below, I set the width of the player to 666, and moved it to the back by 300cm, but the actual result does not reflect the position I set on Reality Composer Pro.
Is there anything else I should do other than loading up the Entity and adding to RealityView? Specifically, do I have to get the DockingRegion within the usda file and somehow enable it?
Hi,
Is there a way to create an AnchorEntity that is attached to the window / WindowGroup of a visionOS app, so that there would be a box that aligns with the window?
Thanks for your help!
After re-launching the immersive space in my app 5-10 times, the WorldTrackingProvider stops working. Only restarting the app will allow it to start working again.
Only on device, not the simulator.
I get these errors when it happens:
The device_anchor can only be queried when the world tracking provider is running.

}

which I call from my RealityView:

}
Hi all,
I'm working on an ARKit-based iOS app where I need to accurately determine the direction the device is facing to localize objects in the real world. I'm using:
let config = ARWorldTrackingConfiguration()
config.worldAlignment = .gravityAndHeading
Thus, I would expect the world alignment to behave as given in the gravityAndHeading page.
The AR session is started after verifying that CLLocationManager.headingAccuracy <= 20, and the compass appears to be calibrated.
However, I'm seeing a major inconsistency:
When the rear camera is physically pointed toward true North, I would expect:
cameraTransform.columns.2.z ≈ -1 // (i.e. ARKit's -Z pointing North)
But instead, I'm consistently seeing:
cameraTransform.columns.2.z ≈ +0.97 // Implies camera is facing South
Meanwhile, the translation vector behaves as expected:
As I physically move North, cameraTransform.columns.3.z becomes more negative, matching the world’s +Z = South assumption.
For example, let's say I have the device in landscapeRight (or landscapeLeft for UIDeviceOrientation). Let's say the device rear camera is pointing towards True North, and I start moving towards True North. I get something like this:
Camera Transform = simd_float4x4(
[
[0.98446155, -0.030119859, 0.172998, 0.0],
[0.023979114, 0.9990097, 0.037477385, 0.0],
[-0.17395553, -0.032746706, 0.98420894, 0.0],
[0.024039675, -0.037087332, -0.22780673, 0.99999994]
])
As you can see, the cameraTransform.columns.2.z is positive despite the rear camera pointing towards True North, while cameraTransform.columns.3.z is correctly positive as the device is moving towards True North.
So here is my question:
Why is cameraTransform.columns.2.z positive when the rear camera is physically facing North?
Any clarity would be deeply appreciated. I've read the documentation and tested with different heading accuracies and AR session resets, but I keep running into this orientation mismatch.
Thanks in advance!
Following up on my previous question here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/774262
Having solved the clipping problem, I am now trying to overlay some content in front of the RealityView. However, it looks like any content with transparency does not render in front of the RealityView, while opaque views seem to work; placing content with transparency like glassBackgroundEffect() behind the RealityView in a ZStack causes the entire window to flicker.
Additionally, my SwiftUI attachment placed in front of the stereoscopic image plane are invisible if the user look at it straight at 90 degrees. However, if the user look at it from increasing angles from the sides, the attachment gradually turns visible again.
Are these behaviors expected? What is a recommended approach to overlay content in front of a RealityView? Thanks!
How do I convert a blend shape/morphed 3D lip-synced model into a usdz that will play in AR on an iPhone?
Here is my code in visionOS 2.3
NavigationSplitView {
List {
}
.navigationTitle("Passwords")
} detail: {
Text("Hello")
.navigationTitle("All")
}
The font size of "Passwords" and "All" are smaller than the ones in Passwords app.

I have been referencing the Object Tracking Tutorial from WWDC 2024 on Vision OS, how Create ML is used to create a reference object, and we can track them in the ARSession.
I am looking forward to building this feature on an AR app for iPhone, I am using iPhone 13 Pro Max. I have created couple of reference objects from the Create ML.
