After downloading Big Sur, my 2018 MacBook got stuck at (what looked like) 95% completion. A day later, nothing changed so I decided to reboot. Everything seemed to be going well until I attempted to log in. For some reason, I can’t make it past the login screen. A progress bar will appear below my user name only to get stuck at about 65% completion. I’ve tried every kind of reboot, reinstalling Big Sur in recovery, first aid on all my disks, and reinstalling again after repairing disks. Nothing seems to work. Is anyone else having this exact issue?

I have a problem with Big Sur crashing when I try to add peripherals via hubs to my MacBook Pro (April, 2020). In particular, when I try to add an Apple Superdrive USB via a Lention C13 hub or C37 HACR-1M (both recommended by Apple Support). I get a lack of power message, and then the crash after a couple of tries. The Thuderbolt 3 ports are handling external monitors well, so I don't think it's the ports. When I try the Superdrive I unplug the external monitors to conserve on power. Any suggestions? RM

How to ensure Big sur is updated properly after it got into a booting loop during process and updated after 5 forced restarts.

When I tried to update macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 11.2.3 , I get: Download failed: An error occurred while downloading the selected updates. Please check your internet connection and try again.

I tried to install Big Sur on my 2014 iMac yesterday. Now my computer is completely frozen - it won’t install the new system, and it won’t let me go back to the old one. My computer was working fine before this, and Apple has been of no help whatsoever. I have a deadline for work and I am losing it. I have tried multiple reboots, etc. Screen stuck on “17 minutes remaining” since last night. That’s where it always gets stuck

The method getStateOfSafariExtensionWithIdentifier works very slow in Big Sur: it takes about 2 minutes to get the state of an extension. It works fine in Catalina and Mojave, the problem is only in Big Sur. Any suggestions please? Steps to reproduce in Bug Sur: Install AdGuard for Safari from Apple Store - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adguard-for-safari/id1440147259 Run Safari, click on AdGuard for Safari icon and launch the application. The application freezes because of long waiting for the state of application's extensions - https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardForSafari/blob/c378be93ee2aa583039d54ff0cdd29cd60a466d7/ElectronMainApp/safari-ext/src.mm#L467 Please note, the problem is reproduced only if the application was started by launching from AdGuard icon in Safari browser. If it was started from Launchpad getStateOfSafariExtensionWithIdentifier works as expected.

Since Big Sur application icons have a different style than the earlier OS's, I want to add a new icon for my app, but only for Big Sur. Is there a way to set an icon for MacOS 11 and the old icon for the earlier OS's ? Thank you.

I'm not asking anything, I just wanted to share my feedback, as I'm sure there's a lot of people struggling with this same thing. As a UI designer, I find very difficult to adapt to this new positioning of back button in Finder on Big Sur. Since it has always been under exit button and after years of using it, I keep clicking on that place and I end up closing my Finder every time, because back button is moved towards the middle now. Moving a button is not a terrible thing, but it is kinda upsetting if it involves a chance to accidentally close something.

Is there a way to enable a common trash folder (display) as there is a common inbox (display)? This was in prior versions of Mac OS and seems to be gone in Big Sur.

Running updated Zoom on 2020 MacBook Air with recently updated OS (Big Sur). Big lag issues across applications and heating when camera is turned on. Turn off Zoom video and everything resumes normal operation and fan slows. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I had no issues prior to updating from Catalina OS.

Big Sur refuses to download. Why do these devs even have a job..... I have updated all my Adobe apps, made sure my Canon drivers are up to date, everything. I, like MANY MANY OTHERS the devs seem to enjoy ignoring, cannot download the Big Sur update. Hit the button Error So this $2,300+ machine is now essentially a web browsing tool until Apple decides to fix their own damn product. I cannot access any 3rd party apps (thousands of dollars right there alone) and cannot operate BASIC ADOBE FUNTIONS. This is outright absurd. You want to play a big game with a new update? Make sure your freaking servers can handle it. People have work to do, unlike the Mac devs apparently. Carefully looking into switching away from Apple, this is completely unacceptable for people who have work to do on their apple computers.

Last week I updated both my 2015 MBP and my 2019 MBAir to Big Sur. Having intermittent WIFI glitches on both and with the MBP, I cannot stream any video at all. Anyone have any ideas? Do I need to revert mack to Catalina for my MBP?
