UITextField selects all text on focus when the content is long — how to keep the caret at the end?
I’m building a custom input field using UITextField. When the user taps to focus the field and the text is long, the entire text becomes selected by default. This is the same behavior you can see in iOS Safari’s search field or the Messages app search field. What I want: when the field becomes first responder, the caret should be placed at the end of the text (latest word), without selecting all the text. Here’s the code that builds my text field: public func makeTextField() -> UITextField { let textField = UITextField() textField.autocorrectionType = .no textField.setContentCompressionResistancePriority(.required, for: .horizontal) textField.setContentCompressionResistancePriority(.required, for: .vertical) if #available(iOS 13.0, *) { textField.smartInsertDeleteType = .no } textField.smartQuotesType = .no textField.smartDashesType = .no textField.autocapitalizationType = .none textField.contentMode = .scaleToFill if let font = attributes[.font] as? UIFont { textField.font = font } if le

Reply to Creating an URL bookmark in macOS 26.1 of a Windows NTFS fileshare returns a bookmark with access to the local drive
No, the decoded URL is not the same as the encoded URL. That's the whole point of my post. So how is it different? I'm going to update my thread complaining about security scoped bookmarks, but all I can so is complain. That won't fix anything. In my limited case, it doesn't actually matter. I just updated my code to compare the original URL with the decoded one and I reject any value that's different. That gets me back to the old 26.0 behaviour. That's still broken, but broken in a better way. In my workaround, I define a URLBookmark class that encode/decodes the URL absolute string, the bookmark, and a secure flag. Originally, if decoding a security scoped bookmark failed, I would fall back to a standard bookmark, and then fall back to just the absolute string. But I don't actually need a security scoped bookmark. I'm just getting certain volume attributes that should (fingers crossed) always be accessible. I did have plans for using document-scoped bookmarks in the future, but those plans are full

Reply to CloudKit - moving record objects between zones
If you are using SwiftData + CloudKit, which is based on NSPersistentCloudKitContainer, it doesn't support cross-share relationships, and so you can't have a collection in one zone and a relationship of the collection (a sub-collection, for example) in another. This is mentioned in here: NSPersistentCloudKitContainer doesn’t support cross-share relationships. That is, it doesn’t allow relating objects associated with different shares. When sharing an object, NSPersistentCloudKitContainer moves the entire object graph, which includes the object and all its relationships, to the share’s record zone. If you are using the CloudKit framework directly, the source and target objects of CKRecord.Reference must be in the same zone of the same database, and so you will need to maintain the relationship with your own logic. CloudKit - moving record objects between zones
My app has three main SwiftData models: Collection, SavedItem, and Extract. A Collection can contain subcollections (folders within folders) and SavedItems (files). Each SavedItem can have child Extracts. I'm preparing for the ability for users to be able to share Collections with each other. Currently, my architecture treats each Collection as the root of its own CloudKit zone (a root parent Collection and all of its items and subcollections live in 1 zone). This makes sharing and isolation straightforward, but it also means that moving a SavedItem or subcollection between Collections involves moving it across zones. I’m trying to figure out the best pattern for handling these cross-zone moves while keeping data integrity, relationships, and sharing intact. My understanding is that in CloudKit, and moving a record from Zone A to Zone B would require deleting it from Zone A and recreating it in Zone B - while somehow maintaining the link back to my local SwiftData store. Has anyone run into this or k

Reply to Spotlight Shows "Helper Apps" That Are Inside Main App Bundle That Are Not Intended to Be Launched By The User
What’s the recommended way to get these out of the Spotlight App list on macOS Tahoe? Why are you using /Contents/Applications/? That's not one of our documented locations (see the list here) and, ironically, I think we started using it so that it WOULD be indexed. Have you tried storing these components in a different directory, specifically Contents/Helpers? *Xcode uses it for its embedded apps like Instruments.app which are designed to run independently. __ Kevin Elliott DTS Engineer, CoreOS/Hardware

Reply to Xcode 26.1 RC issue
Are all of you posting bug reports with Feedback Assistant? Make sure you do. Be sure your report includes the steps needed to reproduce the issue and include the sysdiagnose attachment. What version of macOS is everyone seeing this issue with? In my case I'm running macOS 26.0.1. I don't know if the version of macOS matters or not. I see the issue with both Xcode 26 and Xcode 26.1. It's just requires starting an iOS/iPadOS 26.1 simulator. I have no issue when running an iOS/iPadOS 26.0 simulator.

Sheet background in share extension ignores Liquid Glass effect in iOS 26/Xcode 26
I’m developing a share extension for iOS 26 with Xcode 26. When the extension’s sheet appears, it always shows a full white background, even though iOS 26 introduces a new “Liquid Glass” effect for partial sheets. Expected: The sheet background should use the iOS 26 glassmorphism effect as seen in full apps. Actual behavior: Custom sheets in my app get the glass effect, but the native system sheet in the share extension always opens as plain white. Steps to reproduce: Create a share extension using UIKit Present any UIViewController as the main view Set modalPresentationStyle = .pageSheet (or leave as default) Observe solid white background, not glassmorphism Sample code: swift override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .clear preferredContentSize = CGSize(width: UIScreen.main.bounds.width, height: 300) } Troubleshooting attempted: Tried adding UIVisualEffectView with system blur/materials Removed all custom backgroun

Reply to SwiftUI Instrumentation Fails to start
Some questions. By SwiftUI instrumentation, do you mean profile your app in Instruments with the SwiftUI instrument? What version of Xcode are you running? What version of iOS is the device running? The new SwiftUI instrument Apple added in Xcode 26 requires iOS 26+. If your device is running an earlier version of iOS, you can't use the new SwiftUI instrument. If you can't use the new SwiftUI instrument in Xcode 26, click the Add Instrument button above the timeline pane graphs and add the legacy View Body and View Properties instruments to profile the app. Also, remove the SwiftUI instrument from the trace.

Charged Twice for Apple Developer Program – Same iCloud, Can I Get a Refund?
Hi everyone, I’m posting this to ask for advice and see if anyone has experienced a similar issue with the Apple Developer Program subscription. On July 9th, 2025, I registered for the Apple Developer Program via the Apple Developer app on my iPhone using my main iCloud account (Apple ID). The expected annual fee was 2,299,000 VND (~$99). However, I just checked my billing history and saw that I was charged twice for the same subscription, both under the same Apple ID / iCloud account, on the same day. Key Details: I only enrolled once. Both charges are labeled “Apple Developer Program”, exactly the same amount (2,299,000 ₫). The payments were made through the App Store, not via the website. My account on developer.apple.com/account still shows “Enroll Now” — meaning I haven't been activated yet. I have not received any welcome email either. My questions: Is it possible to request a refund for one of the charges, since both payments came from the same iCloud account and clearly refer to the same subs

MenuBarExtra with .window style: .onHover modifier doesn't work on macOS 26 Tahoe
List { Text(ITEM 1) .onHover(perform: { hovering in debugPrint(hovering: , hovering) }) .help(ITEM 1) Text(ITEM 2) .onHover(perform: { hovering in debugPrint(hovering: , hovering) }) .help(ITEM 2) Text(ITEM 3) .onHover(perform: { hovering in debugPrint(hovering: , hovering) }) .help(ITEM 3) } .fixedSize(horizontal: false, vertical: true) .frame(maxHeight: 200) } Hello everyone!!! Considering the snippet above, seems like the onHover action, including help modifiers, doesn't work for the elements of a List, on macOS Tahoe. The situation changes using a ScrollView embedding a LazyVStack, or disabling Liquid Glass from the info plist, so my guess is that the new Liquid Glass style has something to do with this issue though I didn't find any clue about it. Does anyone have any idea? Maybe there's a layer above that doesn't allow to trigger the onHover modifier? Thanks in advance for your help!

Reply to Creating an URL bookmark in macOS 26.1 of a Windows NTFS fileshare returns a bookmark with access to the local drive
Never use the comments feature here in the forums. They don't trigger notifications and people don't notice them. This was an annoying bug for me so I wanted to double-check and close the loop. Otherwise, I might have forgotten about it and never seen your comment. But my bug does seem to be fixed. I actually got thrown off when you said NTFS. I was thinking about the NTFS driver. You're actually talking about SMB file shares. I just tested that and it seems to work fine for me. However, I have a special use case. I don't actually need to look at the data. But curiously, the bookmark I restore is NOT the same one I saved. When I save a bookmark to the root filesystem of the startup volume, the url I decode is file:///.nofollow/. So dig into your code and see if the url you are decoding from the bookmark is actually the same url you encoded. I'm not seeing this behaviour on a network volume, but I'm using a Mac as a server.

Reply to Matter Media Playback Cluster
Within the Apple Home API, the Matter Framework is an add-on, provided by Apple, and which is a subcomponent of the larger connectedhomeip. No, not exactly. The Matter framework is NOT part of HomeKit; it’s a new (and much broader) framework that specifically implements the controller side of the Matter communication protocol. In architectural terms, HomeKit's Matter support is implemented using the Matter framework. subcomponent of the larger connectedhomeip. In case this wasn't clear, the connectedhomeip GitHub project is the open-source project for the entire Matter protocol/specification. That project hosts not just the Matter framework but accessory support libraries and accessory reference implementations. Strictly speaking, the Matter framework isn't an Apple Framework but is actually an open-source library that we contribute to and then include as part of the system. The only connection to HomeKit here is that one small subcomponent of the Matter framework which can be used to create a limite

Picking image in iOS-first app when running it on macOS 26
An app that is capable of running on iPad can be usually run on Mac if properly designed and that's great. Recently I've tried to launch one of my old apps on macOS 26 in Designed for iPad mode and noticed that image picker behaves oddly. Images are barely selectable, you have to click several times and yet it might select image and might not. On iPhone and on iPad any kind of image picking works fine. I've tried all kinds of native pickers (PhotosPicker, PHPickerViewController, UIImagePickerController), but the result is almost the same. So how should I nowadays do image picking in (mostly) iOS app when it is run on macOS? Below is the most canonical and modern code I've tried. The issue is reproduced even with such bare minimum of code with the label not being put to a Form/List or any other factors. import SwiftUI import PhotosUI struct ContentView: View { @State private var selectedItem: PhotosPickerItem? @State private var selectedImage: UIImage? var body: some View { VStack {
