Reply to Private Wi-Fi Address
This feature will cause a lot of grief in the hospitality industry. Hotel Wi-Fi connection is just one thing that may rely on the MAC address for identifying a guest. Once the device's MAC address changes, anything that used an IP address or MAC address to identify a device will be broken. Door lock access, guest device for loyalty interactions, casting content to the hotel TV, casino membership, etc. This randomized address will force developers to store additional information about a guest's device in order to keep things functional and secure. I would rather not store other information or force a user to take additional steps (re-sign into Wi-Fi, scan a QR code, tap NFC, etc.) to keep them associated with the amenities available through their account/stay. If the 24 hour refresh could be extended or optionally set to a value (1 day, 1 week, 1 month) by the user when joining a network, that would help alleviate a lot of the issues this new privacy feature will create.

Will there ever be NFC scan mode available for iPhone6s?
I am on iPhone6s and can't be more excited about app clips, but unlike the NFC scan mode available for iPhone7-X I can't see any such options to use the NFC feature on my iPhone6s. That being said IOS14 being available on older models like iPhone6s, 6sPlus and not having the NFC feature is very disappointing. Will that feature be added in the upcoming betas of iOS 14?

Reply to Mifare Plus and iOS 13
It is kind of an old thread (-: Unfortunately it’s also tagged incorrectly (the tag was inherited from old DevForums which didn’t have an Core NFC topic area). I recommend you start a new thread with the Core NFC tag to see if you can attract the attention of folks familiar with that API. New Developer to iOS, Had a question about the Developer Program
I am a 19 year old student (not currently studying coding) and recently had an idea for an app with NFC as I had been wanting to get back into coding for a while. So I have been looking around to see where to start learning, and check what would be necessary to make it. I then realised that I didn't have access to the NFC capability inside of Xcode, and that you needed to enroll into the Apple Developper Program (and pay the 99$). Am I right about this? Is there really no way to experiment with NFC without paying for the program? Thanks for your answers!

Detect multiple NFC tag types including NDEF?
Hi, Relatively new to NFC, but have prototyped a reader/writer. I have a bunch of MiFare Classic, but these aren't being detected so I assume they're unsupported? I also have some MiFare DESFire tags, which are detected using an NFCTagReaderSession, but not NFCNDEFReaderSession. tag reader became active tag reader did detect tags [tag] Optional(CoreNFC.NFCTag.miFare(<NFCMiFareTag: 0x282ab8b40>)) family: NFCMiFareFamily 2020-07-26 15:50:38.651264+0100 Vendor[815:147466] [CoreNFC] 00000002 80ae4900 -[NFCTagReaderSession setAlertMessage:]:92 (null) tag read invalidated Is it possible to detect any tags, and then work out if they're NDEF capable or not? It seems we have to use a NFCTagReaderSession or NFCNDEFReaderSession, which means choosing physical tag type way ahead of writing an app? I guess I'm confused with NDEF v 'native' types, as described in the Apple docs. Even though the tag claims to support NDEF, it would be useless in a real world situation (if I implemented an app using the more g

NFC reads once, then no longer works.
I am using iOS 14 beta 3. I read there was an issue with this in earlier iOS 13 betas. It seems to have reappeared with iOS 14? I create a personal automation in Shortcuts with an NFC tag. Works great the first time. Then it never reads it again. If I get an app that can read tags, it reads the tag, so I know the tag is working properly, it's just that the iPhone doesn't read it after the first time. Anyone else have this? I did submit feedback to Apple on iOS 14. Thanks! Dan

Testing confirmAcquired in App Clip via simulator?
Hi. I have NSAppClipRequestLocationConfirmation set to YES in my App Clip's Info.plist's NSAppClip's dictionary. I've also enabled _XCAppClipURL in my Run arguments, and it's set to my domain. And my iPhone iOS 14 simulator's location is set to a test location. But I get the APActivationPayloadError.Code.disallowed error (1) from confirmAcquired(in:completionHandler:) which I'm pretty sure is because the source of the app clip’s invocation wasn’t an NFC tag or visual code. Is there anything I can do to test confirmAcquired in a simulator? Thanks!

Reply to Is there something wrong with my Personalization File?
I'm also interested in an official response to this question. First, my assumptions: the personalization.json file, and any logo images, are hashed as normal and included in the manifest file the pass needs to support NFC entries in the dictionary to include NFC entries, you need to get an enhanced certificate by submitting an application form to Apple. So, without knowing for sure, I'm guessing our personalizable pass is not validating because w don't have NFC entries and we don't have an NFC certificate. I have a workaround for effectively completing the personalization process, but I would rather have access to NFC tags. I also suspect that part of the reason we don't hear more about this, is because App Clips will soon support the new NFC tags announced at WWDC 2020, and that support for personalizable, NFC-aware wallet passes is not as emphasized as we'd like.
