Caller ID is truncated on IOS 18
We use call directory extension in one of our applications, we notice that call id is truncated on IOS 18. Example: "Grady GmbH" instead of "GRADY ARCHIE, PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPER GMBH" We notice also if we have calls in the history then the caller id is shown correctly. Issue only on IOS 18.

Call directory extension name not localised in settings iOS 15.3
I have two call directory extensions, each with InfoPlist.strings in en.lproj and nb.lproj directories. In these files I've defined CFBundleDisplayName for both locales. These names are displayed under Settings -> Phone -> Call Blocking & Identification. On iOS 12.2 the names are displayed correctly in both Norwegian and English. Testing on iOS 15.3 the English names are displayed even when device language is set to Norwegian. Worth noting: When updating the English versions of CFBundleDisplayName this is immediately reflected in Call Blocking & Identification page with Norwegian device language. As this feature requires a real device, I'm unable to test on iOS 13 and 14.

Does Core Spotlight work with document-based apps?
I have a SwiftUI document-based app that for the sake of this discussion stores accounting information: chart of accounts, transactions, etc. Each document is backed by a SwiftData DB. I'd like to incorporate search into the app so that users can find transactions matching certain criteria, so I went to Core Spotlight. Indexing & search within the app seem to work well. The issue is that Spotlight APIs appear to be App based & not Document based. I can't find a way to separate Spotlight data by document. I've tried having each document maintain a UUID as a document-specific identifier and include the identifier in every CSSearchableItem. When performing a query I filter the results with CSUserQueryContext.filterQueries that filter by the document identifier. That works to limit results to the specific file for search operations. Index updates via CSSearchableIndexDelegate.reindex* methods seem to be App-centric. A user may have file #1 open, but the delegate is being asked to update CSSearchableItems for IDs in other files. Is there a proper way to use Spotlight for in-app search with a document-based app? Is there a way to keep Spotlight-indexed data local within the app & not make it available across the system? I.e. I'd like to search within the app only. System-level searches should not surface this data.

AgeRange Functionality working on iPhone how to debug on Mac?
I created in my Objective-c project the AgeRange check for a special function. It is working well on an iPhone. Now I used my Mac and added my app to the TestFlight on my macOS Tahoe 26.1 Here it is directly crashing. But how can I debug an Application which is created for iPhone and iPad with Xcode? I cannot use the target myMac when running a debugging mode. So how is the debugging working for such Apps?

Universal links: Open in "MyApp" doesn't launch my app
I've a strange problem which is only occurring on 2 client devices. We have enabled Universal links, and have it fully tested and working. On one client device, the link never opens our app; but here's the strange thing: If I long-press on our link (in Messages), it gives a preview (as expected), and the context menu offers "Open in ", as well as "Open in Safari". Tapping on "Open in " does nothing. I've tried the following: Checked I could access the site-association file over https with no redirects Enabled developer mode and used universal link debug feature: pasted the same link - Developer mode says it will open the app. I've carried out the sysdiagnose; And there are entries in there for our app in swcutil_show.txt. ApplicationTokens changing
We persist ApplicationTokens in a storage container that ShieldConfigurationExtension has access to. In rare, cases all the ApplicationTokens for a user seem to change. We know this because the Application parameter passed into configuration(shielding application: Application) -> ShieldConfiguration function has a Token that does not match (using == ) any of the ones we are persisting in storage. Interestingly, the persisted ones still work, so I don't believe storage has gotten corrupted or anything. We can use them to add or remove shields, we can use them to display labels of the apps they represent, etc. But they don’t match what’s passed into the ShieldConfiguration extension. If the user goes into the FamilyPicker at this point and selects an app of a token that we are already persisting, the FamilyPickerSelection will have a token matching the new one that is passed into ShieldConfigurationExtension, not the one we persisted when they last selected that app. This leads me to believe the tokens are updated/rotated in some cases. When and why does this happen, and how can we handle it gracefully?

Any workaround for expanding a large category in FamilyActivityPicker?
I’m developing a self-management app using Family Controls, but I’ve encountered a FamilyActivityPciker's crash due to an XPC(or UIRemoteView) issue when there are too many tokens(maybe 200+ items) in a category. This makes bad UX, so I’m looking for a workaround. (I guess that the crash reason is cross process memory limitations, such as App Extension 50MB memory limitation.) A lot of web domains contribute to increase the number of tokens, However, even after clearing Safari’s browsing history, the tokens displayed in the FamilyActivityPicker remains unchanged. Is there any workaround that a 3rd party developer can implement to address this issue? prevent FamilyActivityPicker crashes or reduce the number of web domain tokens? For example, if there’s a way to reset the web domain tokens shown in FamilyActivityPicker from the Settings app, I could offer a help to users. Does anybody have ideas? Expanding SNS Category (29 items) It succeeded. Expanding Productivity & Finance (214 items) It failed. The screen froze, then appears blank. When the number of items is around 100, the crash rate is 50%, but when the items are over 200, the crash rate is 100%. Search Bar Problem The search bar also has same problem. If the number of search results are small, it works good without any blank, but if there are a lot of search results (200+), the XCP crashes and the screen appears blank. Code to Reproduce import SwiftUI import FamilyControls struct ContentView: View { @State private var selection = FamilyActivitySelection() @State private var isPickerPresented: Bool = false var body: some View { VStack { Button("Open Picker") { isPickerPresented = true } } .familyActivityPicker(isPresented: $isPickerPresented, selection: $selection) } } Steps to Reproduce Prepare a category that has 200+ items Try to open the category in the picker The screen will freeze, then appears blank. [iOS 26][SDK 26] Application never received providerDidBegin(_:) delegate
Observed few times that providerDidBegin(_:) delegate never called for the complete app session after app init(as part of this CXProvider registered) which was built with SDK 26 and running on iOS 26. This issue observed multiple times with our testing. Since there is no providerDidBegin:, client is marking CallKit as not ready and never report any calls for VoIP APNS and ended up in app crash due to "[PKPushRegistry _terminateAppIfThereAreUnhandledVoIPPushes]" Please refer for sysdiagnose logs : FB19778306

CallKit UI with speaker button is not functional - Only speaker mode is enabled
An issue with the CallKit UI, specifically regarding the functionality of the speaker button. When a user initiates a video call with CallKit and then, using the existing CallKit session, initiates an audio call, there are no issues with CallKit or the audio. However, if the user terminates the video call from the CallKit UI, the active CallKit session ends. To resume the ongoing audio call, we report a new CallKit call upon the end call trigger. While there are no issues with this reporting, the CallKit UI does not provide an audio route for the built-in receiver, and the speaker button remains unresponsive. IPA was build on SDK 18 and running on iOS beta 26. Issue is NOT seen with SDK18 and running iOS 18.x or lower devices. Feedback - FB18855566

DeclaredAgeRange import error in Mac Catalyst app
Hello, I’m developing an app for both iOS and macOS using Mac Catalyst. On the iOS target, the DeclaredAgeRange framework works fine: I enabled the capability, set the entitlement, and can call the APIs successfully. However, when I build the Mac Catalyst target, I get compile-time errors because DeclaredAgeRange cannot be imported. Environment Xcode 26.0.1 Deployment Target (iOS): 13.0 Mac Catalyst target enabled (same bundle ID, same source code base as iOS version) iOS build works well with DeclaredAgeRange What I tried Added the Declared Age Range capability in Signing & Capabilities for iOS target → works fine. Tried setting Mac Catalyst Deployment Target to macOS 15.0+ and rebuilding → still failed to import. Because it didn’t help, I reverted and removed the separate macOS target setting. On Catalyst, the module simply isn’t available (import DeclaredAgeRange fails). From Apple’s documentation, my understanding is that DeclaredAgeRange should also be supported on Mac Catalyst (SDK 26+). But in practice I cannot import it in my Catalyst build. Questions Is DeclaredAgeRange actually supported on Mac Catalyst right now? If so, are there additional setup steps (capabilities, entitlements, provisioning, etc.) specific to Catalyst? Has anyone successfully imported and used DeclaredAgeRange in a Catalyst project? Any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Safari Web Extensions & NSXPCConnection
I have a basic setup following WWDC 2020 on Safari Web Extensions and another one on XPC. The video even mentions that one can use UserDefaults or XPC to communicate with the host app. Here is my setup. macOS 15.2, Xcode 16.2 A macOS app (all targets sandboxed, with an app group) with 3 targets: SwiftUI Hello World web extension XPC Service The web extension itself works and can update UserDefaults, which can then be read by SwiftUI app - everything works by the book. The app can communicate to the XPC service via NSXPCConnection - again, everything works fine. The problem is that the web extension does not communicate with XPC, and this is what I need so that I can avoid using UserDefaults for larger and more complex payloads. Web Ext handler code: class SafariWebExtensionHandler: NSObject, NSExtensionRequestHandling { func beginRequest(with context: NSExtensionContext) { // Unpack the message from Safari Web Extension. let item = context.inputItems[0] as? NSExtensionItem let message = item?.userInfo?[SFExtensionMessageKey] // Update the value in UserDefaults. let defaults = UserDefaults(suiteName: "com.***.AppName.group") let messageDictionary = message as? [String: String] if messageDictionary?["message"] == "Word highlighted" { var currentValue = defaults?.integer(forKey: "WordHighlightedCount") ?? 0 currentValue += 1 defaults?.set(currentValue, forKey: "WordHighlightedCount") } let response = NSExtensionItem() response.userInfo = [ SFExtensionMessageKey: [ "Response to": message ] ] os_log(.default, "setting up XPC connection") let xpcConnection = NSXPCConnection(serviceName: "com.***.AppName.AppName-XPC-Service") xpcConnection.remoteObjectInterface = NSXPCInterface(with: AppName_XPC_ServiceProtocol.self) xpcConnection.resume() let service = xpcConnection.remoteObjectProxyWithErrorHandler { error in os_log(.default, "Received error: %{public}@", error as CVarArg) } as? AppName_XPC_ServiceProtocol service?.performCalculation(firstNumber: 23, secondNumber: 19) { result in NSLog("Result of calculation XPC is: \(result)") os_log(.default, "Result of calculation XPC is: \(result)") context.completeRequest(returningItems: [response], completionHandler: nil) } } } The error I'm getting: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service named com.***.AppName.AppName-XPC-Service was invalidated: failed at lookup with error 3 - No such process." What am I missing?

Spotlight doesn't show .html file results
When I search for text in a .html file using the Command-Spacebar spotlight popup the .html file is never shown in the results. On the other hand the .html file does show in the result when I search in the Finder window search field, or when I search in the Terminal using mdfind. Why is this and how can I fix? I want to use spotlight to find .html files. You can reproduce the problem like this: echo spotlighttest > testone.txt % echo spotlighttest > testtwo.html % mdfind spotlighttest 2024-12-30 14:22:28.552 mdfind[28326:550500] [UserQueryParser] Loading keywords and predicates for locale "en_US" 2024-12-30 14:22:28.553 mdfind[28326:550500] [UserQueryParser] Loading keywords and predicates for locale "en" ~/Desktop/Spotlighttest/testone.txt ~/Desktop/Spotlighttest/testtwo.html I believe this shows that both files are index properly, but if you then do Command-Spacebar and search for "Spotlighttest" I think you will see that only testone shows as a result. Edit I believe this is a change in macOS 15.x and used to work correctly in previous macOS

SMJobSubmit works in user domain, but cannot be submitted in system domain
Hi, I'm in the process of creating an App + Helper Tool combo application, and depending on the necessity of root privileges, I'm setting up two paths in the app: If root privileges are not necessary, I'm using SMJobSubmit rather directly: var submissionError: Unmanaged<CFError>? let submissionResult = SMJobSubmit(kSMDomainUserLaunchd, plist, nil, &submissionError) where plist contains these items: Label=com.***.redactedApp.redacted, ProgramArguments=[path/to/helper-tool, commandName, commandArg1, commandArg2] RunAtLoad=1, KeepAlive=0 and it works as necessary, and performs the operations. Now, in the case of privilege escalation being necessary, this call becomes a bit more complex: let authorization = SFAuthorization() var authRef: AuthorizationRef? do { try authorization?.obtain(withRight: kSMRightModifySystemDaemons, flags: [.extendRights, .interactionAllowed]) authRef = authorization?.authorizationRef() } catch let error { // Logging error } var submissionError: Unmanaged<CFError>? let submissionResult = SMJobSubmit(kSMDomainSystemLaunchd, plist, authRef, &submissionError) while using the same plist, same executable at the same path, same Label. However, when using the second path, suddenly SMJobSubmit fails: Error Domain=CFErrorDomainLaunchd Code=2 "(null)" Now, naturally I headed over to system logs in Console.app, and this is the weirdest - there is nothing suspicious near the log item I submit with the above error from the main application. The tool is embedded in the Contents/MacOS folder. However, my problem is that anything that I can think of seems to lead to the same thought: it should be a problem in both cases, not just the privileged one. Is there something extra that must be taken care of when using SMJobSubmit with privileged helper tools?

Open Parent App From ShieldActionDelegate
Hello, I’m building an app that helps people spend less time on social media apps. For that, I make heavy use of Apple’s Screen Time APIs, such as ManagedSettings and FamilyControls. When an app is locked using a ShieldConfiguration, the user has to open my app in order to unlock it (e.g. enter a code). This is very cumbersome because no documented API exists to open the parent app (=my app) from the ShieldActionDelegate (also part of my app) when the user presses a button of the ShieldConfiguration. The ShieldActionDelegate callback just offers three options in its ShieldActionResponse: .none .defer .close .openParentApp is missing. We are working around this limitation by sending a local push notification that the user has to tap on. This has multiple drawbacks: It has to be ensured that notification permission has been granted. It has to be ensured that notifications can be delivered even while focus is enabled. Features such as Apple Intelligence notification summaries and notification prioritization can heavily delay delivering notifications and thus frustrate the user. Neither my users nor myself do understand why this is not possible in a smoother way, at least according to the documentation. There are 3rd party apps that have such functionality, they can directly open their own app from a button press in the Shield, see here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/applocker-passcode-lock-apps/id1132845904 It would be great if Apple could level the playfield for all developers and document how this is achievable, because technically it clearly is. Thanks a lot and have a great day!

Updating Widget from App Intent called by Live Activity is inconsistent
(Also have a case ID, 9879068) We have an app that user use to check in/out from work for example. We have a button in-app do do this. Now I'm trying to add buttons to our widgets and our new live activity so that users don't have to open the app. It's crucial that the live activity and widgets always show the exact same state. Otherwise it'll look pretty bad if a user has both a live activity and a widget showin at the same time. However, we have noticed that sometimes, pressing the button in the live activity, running the app intent, will not always make the widget update (we call reloadAllTimelines()). The other way around, i.e. press the button on widget to update live activity always works. (they both call the same app intent) When running it in debug mode on a phone from Xcode, it always works, but when running it just on the phone it's unreliable. My first thought was, of course, that's related to the widget "budget", but according to the docs HERE, it should not be applied when interacting with a widget, calling an app intent. My question: HOW can I make my widget reliably refresh using an app intent invoked from a live activity?? I have a ready small project with simple buttons and trace labels that display this issue that I'm happy to supply to someone.

Contacts Provider Extension not removed from Contacts list after app uninstall on iOS 26
Hi, I’ve built an app that includes a Contacts Provider Extension (CPE). On iOS 18, I observed the expected behavior — when the main app is uninstalled, the corresponding CPE entry is also removed from the Contacts list. However, on iOS 26, this no longer happens. After uninstalling the app, the CPE remains visible and active in the Contacts list, even though the app is gone.

Label with ApplicationToken cannot be styled?
Hi, I'm trying to make use of the Device Activity Labels where you supply an ApplicationToken. I can successfully get it to show the icon + title of the Application (twitter in my case) but I cannot get the styling to work. // Works .labelStyle(.iconOnly) .labelStyle(.titleOnly) .border(...) ![]("https://developer.apple.com/forums/content/attachment/9660b578-a36f-4d5a-ae18-653a207aa5ab" "title=Screenshot 2023-03-12 at 12.57.34 PM.png;width=1218;height=844") // Does NOT work .font(.largeTitle) .foregroundColor(.blue) I have checked the same style (or just modifiers) against a standard Label and they actually do work in the code below. // This is an application token. Some style not applied. Label(targetApp) .labelStyle(MyStyle()) // Showing the same style using a simple label. All styles correctly applied. Label("Twitter", systemImage: "video.square.fill") .labelStyle(MyStyle()) Is changing the font + color of the title for this Label(_ applicationToken:) supported?

Spotlight Importer Extension Not Triggered for Custom UTI on macOS
Hi all, I'm trying to add Spotlight support to a macOS app that handles custom virtual machine bundles with the .vpvm extension. I’ve followed the current documentation and used the modern CSImportExtension approach with a Spotlight Importer extension target. Here’s what I’ve done: App Info.plist: Declared com.makeprog.vpvm as a UTI conforming to com.apple.package. Registered it under UTExportedTypeDeclarations and CFBundleDocumentTypes. Spotlight Importer Extension: Added a new macOS target using the Spotlight Import Extension template. Set the NSExtensionPointIdentifier to com.apple.spotlight.import. Used CSSupportedContentTypes = com.makeprog.vpvm. Implemented a minimal update(_ attributes:forFileAt:) method that sets displayName, title, and contentDescription. Other steps: Verified that the .appex is embedded under Contents/PlugIns/. Confirmed it appears in mdimport -e output with correct UTI. Used mdimport -m -d2 -t /path/to/file.vpvm, but I still get: Imported '/path/to/file.vpvm' of type 'com.makeprog.vpvm' with no plugIn. The extension is never invoked. I’ve also tried: Ensuring the .vpvm file is a valid directory bundle. Restarting Spotlight / rebuilding index. Ensuring the app and extension are properly signed. Tried installing the app in test virtual machine Question: Has anyone successfully used CSImportExtension for custom UTIs? Is there something additional I need to do for the extension to be recognized and triggered? Any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
