Printing programmatically in black & white?
Hi, In Windows and Linux, it's possible to ask a printer to print content programmatically in Black & White. This may be referred to as "Monochrome", "Grayscale", "B&W", depending on the device driver. For feature parity with other operating systems, I'd like to do the same -- programmatically -- in macOS using Objective-C or Swift. Is this possible? Which instructions are included in the hardware event `INST_SIMD_ALU`?
I asked this on StackOverflow too, but did not get a response. Copying verbatim (images might not work as expected). Short question: which instructions other than floating point arithmetic instructions like fmul, fadd, fdiv etc are counted under the hardware event INST_SIMD_ALU in XCode Instruments? Alternatively, how can I count the number of floating point operations in a program using CPU counters? I want to measure/estimate the FLOPs count of my program and thought that CPU counters might be a good tool for this. The closest hardware event mnemonic that I could find is INST_SIMD_ALU, whose description reads. Retired non-load/store Advanced SIMD and FP unit instructions So, as a sanity check I wrote a tiny Swift code with ostensibly predictable FLOPs count. let iterCount = 1_000_000_000 var x = 3.1415926 let a = 2.3e1 let ainv = 1 / a // avoid inf for _ in 1...iterCount { x *= a x += 1.0 x -= 6.1 x *= ainv } So, I expect there to be around 4 * iterCount = 4e9 FLOPs. But, on running this under CPU Counters with the event INST_SIMD_ALU I get a count of 5e9, 1 extra FLOP per loop iteration than expected. See screenshot below. dumbLoop is the name of the function that I wrapped the code in. That leaves subs, which is an integer subtraction instruction used for decrementing the loop counter. So, I ran two more "tests" to see if the one extra count comes from subs. On running it again with CPU Counters with the hardware event INST_INT_ALU, I found a count of one billion, which adds up with the number of loop decrements. So, at the moment if I want to count the FLOPs in my program, one estimate I can use is INST_SIMD_ALU - INST_INT_ALU. But, is this description complete, or are there an other instructions that I might spuriously count as floating point operations? Is there a better way to count the number of FLOPs?

AVCaptureMetadataOutput delegate not working for Barcode in iPad OS 17.4.1

Memory leak with [NSMutableData appendData:]
Instruments reveals that the following simple code leaks memory on each delegate invoke: - (void)start { [_urlSession dataTaskWithURL:_url]; } - (void)URLSession:(NSURLSession *)session dataTask:(NSURLSessionDataTask *)dataTask didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [_data appendData:data]; } I don't have any clue on this leak, it should not happen. What should I do to avoid this?

Always Getting Error while reading NFC
I am following this code https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corenfc/building_an_nfc_tag-reader_app to implement a simple scanner for NFC. Multiple commands produce Error When I've added Privacy.Info file in my react native app.
In my react native app deployed on appstore. I've added Privacy.Info file to declare privacy manifest as requested by Apple. We successfully implemented VR180 with MV-HEVC video. However, the results from the URL connection and the AFP connection are too different.
After numerous trials and errors, we finally succeeded in implementing VR180. However, there is a problem. Videos played via a URL (Internet) connection experience significant lag. Initially, I thought it was a bitrate issue. But after various tests, I began to suspect that the problem might be with the internet connection processing..itself I tested the same video through both file opening (set up as a network drive) and URL (AWS) connections. Since AWS provides stable speeds, I concluded there is no issue there. The video files are 8K. The bitrate is between 80-90 Mbps. The conditions for decoding and implementing 8K are the same. Also, when I mirrored the video, there was significant lag. Both AFP and URL use the same wireless conditions. I assume the conditions for implementing 8K are the same. When mirroring, the AFP connection had no lag at all. Could it be that VisionOS's URL (Internet connection) is causing a high system load? I noticed that an app called AmazeVR allows videos to be downloaded before playing. Could this be because of the URL issue? If anyone knows, please respond.

Could not build module 'xxxxx'
I have a Swift project in Xcode and I'm working with Firebase and cocoapods. When I build my project, I get 15+ errors. All of them are "Could not build module 'xxxx' and the 'xxxx' are things like CoreFoundation, ObjectiveC, os_object, CoreGraphics, etc. I've deleted derived data, restarted Xcode, reinstalled pods, my deployments are all matching (even in my pod targets). I'm absolutely out of ideas. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

How to Achieve Safari-like Scaling in WKWebView
I am currently developing an iOS app that needs to embed a third-party website. On this website, the best view is achieved in the standard Safari app by pressing the 'Aa' button on the left side of the address bar and setting the zoom to 50%. I want to replicate this 50% scaling in WKWebView, but I'm not sure how to accomplish it. I've tried using webView.pageZoom = 0.5 and setting webView.scrollView.minimumZoomScale = 0.5 webView.scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 0.5 but it doesn't display the same way as it does in Safari. How can I achieve the same scaling effect in WKWebView?

function with automatically increasing percentage (watchOS)
I'm working on a tool for my studies and is designed to display all exams and additionally, it has the functionality of automatic study progress. The idea is that when I click on an exam, it automatically gets marked in green and the progress automatically increases in proportion to the ratio of the marked exam to the total ECTS credits of the program. The app is structured so that upon launching, the sections "Erster Studienabschnitt" (=First Study Phase), "Zweiter Studienabschnitt" (=Second Study Phase), "Freie Studienleistungen" (=Free Study Achievements) appear, each with their own detailed views. The "Erster Studienabschnitt" includes the exams "Privatrecht I", "Öffentliches Recht I", "Strafrecht I", "Österreichische und europäische Rechtsgeschichte", "Romanistische Grundlagen der europäischen Zivilrechtsdogmatik". Privatrecht I, Öffentliches Recht I and Strafrecht I each lead to their own detail view containing the exams. For these, the function works flawlessly. However, the whole thing does not work at all for the free study achievements. When you go to "Freie Studienleistungen", you see "KS", "AG", "UE", "KK", "VO", "VL", "ECTS aus anderen Studien", "KV", "Repetitorium". These 9 fields also lead to detailed views where one can see individual exams, which should be added to the progress when marked. The issue is that all exams from these 9 views should only count up to a total of 24 ECTS towards the study progress, so beyond 24 ECTS, the percentage of progress does not increase anymore. The problem occurs, for example, when I mark the exam "AG Europarecht in "AG", which should be worth 2 ECTS, the percentage remains the same and does not increase at all... Does anyone see a mistake? But while running on the real device (the iPhone), the build is successful but getting the mentioned issue. Also, while creating the.ipa file, we are getting the error mentioned below. I have tried following thing to resolve the issue but nothing is worked. Clean project and try to run the app on the real device. Disconnect iPhone from Mac On iPhone: Settings &gt; Developer &gt; Clear Trusted Computers Uninstall the application Reconnect iPhone to Mac In Xcode Window &gt; Devices &amp; Simulators You should see your device in the left sidebar Re-pair the device In the project Target -&gt; Build Settings search for: search for Excluded Architectures add arm64 there. Change the archive destination directory to a location on the local SSD (and not an external HDD). Go to settings &gt;&gt; Select Privacy &amp; Security &gt;&gt; Turn developer mode off if on &gt;&gt; Turn developer mode back on an follow instrctions &gt;&gt; The run your app on xcode ` Please help me find the solution. Swift project - AppDelegate application(open:options) not called

The Swift projct is clean and only with XCode generated demo code except the AppDelegate. Can anybody please help?
