Hi Team,
We are trying to upload a file or an image using the component WKWebView. How we can do it? Should we need to use another approach? Do you have any suggestion or any demo project? Thanks in advance!

Hi Apple developers, I am very new to XCode and Swift, I am planning to build an app for iOS from a web. I tried to use WKWebView to handle the web , I managed to redirect some of the links to Safari, however some button/links didn't trigger .linkActivated function and encounter the error as "Your browser preventing this app to open “URL”.
If I copy the URL to Safari is able to open, I trying to research on web but can't find any related solution for my case.
Here is the code in my app:
import UIKit
import WebKit
import SafariServices
class ViewController: UIViewController, WKNavigationDelegate {
var webView: WKWebView!
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
// Initialize WKWebView
let webConfiguration = WKWebViewConfiguration()
//enable javascript
webConfiguration.preferences.javaScriptEnabled = true
webView = WKWebView(frame: self.view.frame, configuration: webConfiguration)
webView.navigationDelegate = self
self.view.addSubview(webView)
// Load a web page as webview
if let url = URL(string: "https://myurl") {
let request = URLRequest(url: url)
webView.load(request)
}
//console log
webView.evaluateJavaScript("console.log('Button clicked!')") { result, error in
if let error = error {
print("Error executing JavaScript: \(error.localizedDescription)")
} else {
print("JavaScript result: \(String(describing: result))")
}
}
}
func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, decidePolicyFor navigationAction: WKNavigationAction, decisionHandler: @escaping (WKNavigationActionPolicy) -> Void) {
if let url = navigationAction.request.url, navigationAction.navigationType == .linkActivated {
// Check if URL is external and open it in Safari
if UIApplication.shared.canOpenURL(url) {
UIApplication.shared.open(url, options: [:], completionHandler: nil)
decisionHandler(.cancel) // Prevent loading the link in the WebView
} else {
decisionHandler(.allow) // Allow loading if URL cannot be opened in Safari
}
} else {
decisionHandler(.allow) // Allow the WebView to load the URL normally
}
}
}
My app sends users notifications of important messages in the app. How can I make sure the user receives them?
I have "http://localhost:8080" showing the index page I've created but php is not handled though an extension is running.
Haven't even tried mySQL yet but since there is no reference to it in https.conf the same problem will exist. Homebrew extension running also.
https.conf:
#PHP was deprecated in macOS 11 and removed from macOS 12
#LoadModule php7_module libexec/apache2/libphp7.so
There are no php.so files on my machine and again no mention of mysql
What should I enter in http.conf to activate these functionalities?
Thanks.
PS could you reference a tutorial on using Safari and Web inspector
Hi. I'm a developer of Tab Finder (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tab-finder/id6741719894)
My problem is that every time i switch from my first window to a second window, the tabs in the validateToolbarItem() are INcorrect on a first call, but when I switch back from the second window to my main window, the tabs are CORRECT even on a first call.
To demonstrate it, i recorded a video: https://youtu.be/RwskzrSJ8u0
To run the same sample extension from the video, you can get the code from this GitHub repo: https://github.com/kopyl/test-tabs-change
Its only purpose is to log URLs of an active page of all tabs.
The SafariExtensionHandler's code of the sample app is very simple:
import SafariServices
func printOpenTabsHost(in window: SFSafariWindow) async {
let tabs = await window.allTabs()
log("Logging tabs for a new window: \(window.hashValue)")
for tab in tabs {
let page = await tab.activePage()
let properties = await page?.properties()
let url = properties?.url
log(url?.absoluteString ?? "No URL")
}
}
class SafariExtensionViewController: SFSafariExtensionViewController {
static let shared = SafariExtensionViewController()
}
class SafariExtensionHandler: SFSafariExtensionHandler {
override func validateToolbarItem(in window: SFSafariWindow, validationHandler: @escaping ((Bool, String) -> Void)) {
Task {
await printOpenTabsHost(in: window)
}
validationHandler(true, "")
}
override func popoverViewController() -> SFSafariExtensionViewController {
return SafariExtensionViewController.shared
}
}
Could you please tell if i'm missing something and how to see the actual tabs inside the overridden validateToolbarItem call of the SafariExtensionHandler (or in any other way, I'm okay with any implementation as long as it works).

The app analytics tab for my account is empty. It doesn't show any bundle IDs or apps that have been launched. Is this normal for WatchOS apps?
Here's a screenshot of the tab: https://cloud.goodsmile.studio/hT5fL2HY
We are encountering a download issue in Safari 18.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.2 where file downloads initiated by our AngularJS application (such as Excel exports) are silently blocked.
There are no errors in the browser console, and the download does not occur.
Interestingly, after testing on Safari 18.3 with Sequoia 15.3, the downloads worked as expected.
However, the problem reappeared on Safari 18.4 with Sequoia 15.4.
We suspect that recent changes in Safari’s security or download handling may be preventing downloads triggered via asynchronous JavaScript (e.g., AJAX calls) that are not initiated directly by user interaction.
We would appreciate any insights, suggestions, or possible workarounds from the community. Looking forward to your guidance on this matter.
Hello, ive been dealing with this glitch all year that hasnt happened last year. When I watch a video on public safari and then it exit the video it immediately takes me to the private tab but when I go on the private tab to watch videos and exit out it takes me back to the website just like normal. Its a pretty annoying bug and I watch all my videos in the private tab because of it

I’m experiencing an issue where Safari takes approximately 30 seconds to load web pages on mTLS-enabled sites. However, when I enable Private Browsing mode, the problem disappears. This suggests that the issue is not related to the network environment.
To provide more context, I’ve attached a Wireshark packet capture for reference. From the logs, it seems that the TLS handshake process encounters delays, but I cannot identify the exact cause.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or can provide insights into what might be causing this behavior? Any troubleshooting suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated.
OS: iPadOS 18.2.1
Thank you!

Since the transition to iOS 18.4, we have been having an issue where when loading an m3u8 file specified in the src attribute of a video tag in WKWebView, the ts file is loaded repeatedly.
Are there any good ideas for this?
Also, if there have been any changes to the specifications of WKWebView, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.
I am a newby to JavaScript, suggested to me to use to automate the task of opening of a Web page, selecting three internal buttons in sequence to download the underlying chart data.
I have created the App via Automator on macOS, to run the Script, successfully open the Web Page, but cannot find a way to select and click() on the buttons.
Can someone please help me.
Robert.
This is the code suggested by Grok 3 Beta, but I see this error:
Error: First parameter passed to Document Constructor must be an object.
function run(input, parameters) {
var Safari = Application('Safari');
Safari.activate();
// Open the AEMO data dashboard (Grok 3 Beta recomendation opens the web page correctly)
Safari.Document().make();
Safari.windows[0].currentTab.url = 'https://www.aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/data-nem/data-dashboard-nem';
delay(10); // Wait for page to load
// Click the Fuel Mix tab (target the active in the tabs)
Safari.Document(0).doJavaScript("document.querySelector('.tabs .active').click()");
delay(5); // Wait for tab content to load
// Select 48 hrs from the dropdown Safari.Document(0).doJavaScript("document.querySelector('#interval').value = '48H'; document.querySelector('#interval').dispatchEvent(new Event('change'))");
delay(5); // Wait for selection to take effect
// Click the download button Safari.Document(0).doJavaScript("document.querySelector('.visualisation-icon-button').click()");
return input;

Hi all,
I'm developing an application that uses WKWebView to display a web application which I augment with iOS native utilities such as Speech to Text and IAP. The application also uses Service workers, so we define AppBound Domains in the info.plist file.
Everything works for this, but when we deploy on a device the application will crash and say we need these entitlements
com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.networking,
com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.rendering,
com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.webcontent,
com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit
From what I can see, we do need all of them. However Apple suggest submitting a request to be an Altnerative Browser (https://developer.apple.com/support/alternative-browser-engines)
This is not appropriate for the application in my view since one requirement of being an alternative browser is that you don't modify the resources on the web site - we of course do since we inject javascript in order to bridge between iOS and the contents of the webview.
How are people navigating this issue? I assumed it would be common given the use of Tauri etc. to build similar types of applications, but I don't see much about it.
Thank you!
Our app is an enterprise app via MDM.
We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app.
Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate)
We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate:
completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential);
This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection?
Thanks in advance, look forward for your reply.
There is no problem with the content display of each tab, but the tab bar is completely buggy.
If you open 5 or more tabs and browse tabs after the 5, the first 4 tab bars will be completely blacked out, and you don't even know how many tabs you have.
If you click on the place where the tab title probably exists, the tab is displayed as if the partial display of the tab bar has been restored.
There is no problem with content display. But because it is unclear what tab is open, the browsing experience is at its lowest.
If you switch to the tab after the 5th, the first 4 will return to the blackout state again.
Of course, it is the latest software configuration at the moment. There is no shortage of memory at 24GB.
I recently started developing a Safari extension with AppExtension, but is that due to it?

I am trying to build and run a Safari Web Extension from Xcode and I have enabled "Allow unsigned extensions" in Safari settings. However, I see the below pop up:
And, if click on the "Quit and Open Safari Extensions Preferences..." button, the project stops running on Xcode and nothing happens.
What can be the issue? The extension works and runs fine if I get it from the Mac App Store and this only happens when running from Xcode. I even tried completely uninstalling the mac app store version and still facing the same issue.
Hi Team,
I'm using the simple mailto functionality in the demo page and when I tested the same via Safari mailto functionality is not working.
However, the same feature is working as expected via Chrome.
Demo: https://jsfiddle.net/xut0ed4y/
Kindly help.me to resolve this issue.
We seem to be having an issue with a webservice here which is used within our network and IOS Safari. For the service to work , we need to access it with an unencrypted HTTP API call, which acts as a trigger. The server does not respond to HTTPS requests. (the HTTP API call does not contain any data that is privacy sensitive or that can be abused)
Since recently the service does not seem to work anymore properly, but this only happens with Safari and IOS. With all other browsers the service is still working normally, only with Safarai it fails.
No matter what I do in the settings of the phone, the Safar browser seems to stop immediately after the HTTP request. What is going on here ??
The issue seems to occur only when you don't have an iCloud+ account. With an iCloud+ account I get the same issue when you switch Apple Private Relay on, but that make sense. When I have Apple Private Relay switched off, there is no issue.
