Automatic menu translation ok with El Capitan, notok with Mojave
Hi everybody, I use a very old photo software called Snapseed v 1.2.1 on 2 MacBook, one runs with El Capitan and the second runs with Mojave. These app has no language selection during install, and no preferences language choice in menu when running. When I execute app on El Capitan, all menus and topics are translate in French, but on Mojave no translation is done. I looked Contents of app and found differents languages files (structured as xx.po where xx=country) located in Resources folder. I deduced translation was executed after getting language param. I checked values on both systems and there are same (LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8). So I tried to change Info.plist file to force code langage to 'fr' in CFBundleLocalizations key. Result is same. Does somebody has a idea of reason of issue and how to solve it ? Snapseed release was 2012, El Capitan 2015 and Mojave 2018, it seems framework used to code app runs differently and can't get language value.

Using private API
A question for Apple engineers. Why is it that using a private API (for example, finding the corner radius of a device's screen) can result in the app being rejected for review or even an account being blocked, while using a private compiler API (for example, @_spi) has no consequences?

vision pro notifications too small for shareplay
A is there a way to get big huge notitifications for Shareplay invitations ? B can i have the notifications inside the app ? we have a corporate app to check archtecture projects we want to share these 3d spaces walking inside with near users in the same place to discuss about the project .. but it takes too long shareplay invitation is a small circle on top, if the others users just put the vision without configuring eyes and hands... it's gonna be impossible thanks for sharing and giving us support

Guidance on Blocking Screenshots/Screen Recordings in macOS App (Unity 6000.0.51f1)
Dear Team, We have developed a macOS app using Unity (6000.0.51f1) that includes learning activities, assessments/tests, audio recording, and video playback functionalities. For security and content protection, we want to restrict the ability for users to capture screenshots or screen recordings of the app (especially via the built-in Cmd+Shift+5 / Screenshot toolbar). We have attempted several approaches, but they have not been reliable. We would appreciate guidance from Apple or the developer community on the feasibility of this requirement. Our requirements: Block or disable screenshots/screen recordings (particularly the built-in Cmd+Shift+5) for the app. Preferably achieve this using public APIs so that the app remains App Store compatible and passes review. If full blocking is not possible, then at least ensure that any captured content appears blank/black for sensitive sections of the app. Additionally, we would like our app’s window behavior to work like other apps do: Red button → Close the application completely. Yellow button → Minimize the application to the Dock. Green button → Maximize to full screen while still allowing access to the Dock and menu bar. Any advice, best practices, or references to relevant documentation would be highly valuable. Thank you for your support.

Programmatically overriding Liquid Glass dock icon?
Hello, I recently updated my app’s icon to use the new Liquid Glass style by adding an .icon file created with Icon Composer to my project. Previously, I had two image sets (light and dark versions of the app icon), and I’d implemented a settings option that let users either manually select their preferred icon, or let the app automatically switch between light/dark based on the system appearance. Is there a way to achieve the same behavior with the new Liquid Glass .icon file?Specifically, can I programmatically override the system-selected Liquid Glass dock icon and force a particular variant? Thank you.

Black Launch Screen with UIImageView - SwiftUI Xcode 26
I am trying to create a Launch Screen for a new SwiftUI app built with Xcode 26. However, upon adding a UIImageView, the launch screen appears black and does not show anything. I have followed the typical steps to create a screen: New file from template -> Launch Screen Add image to xcassets, reference in UIImageView Set to initial view controller, add file name in general tab to Launch Screen File I have troubleshooted with the following sources: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/63978396/launch-screen-not-working-on-ios-14-with-xcode-12 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/665358 I have created a minimally reproducible example here: https://github.com/nickdebaise/launch-screen-bug

Approach Used To Create Song List As In Example
Hi, I am looking for guidance on how to create a scrollable song list, such as the attachment. The song list was originally created in C#, using an RTF object and populated by about 43 lines of song criteria. What similar approach would I use in Swift and MacOS? By the way, I currently play music that resides on the Mac, no external streaming is required or desired. Thanks, Jim

Weird glitches during restore from minimalization of any app
From what I’ve seen, this issue has been around since macOS 13 and can be reproduced reliably. It happens with some apps like Music, Notes, and Google Chrome. Here’s how to see it: 1.Make sure “Minimize windows into application” is enabled in System Settings, or just open a minimized app later directly from its application icon. 2.Open one of the apps mentioned above. 3.Minimize it. 4.Click the minimized app in the Dock to restore it. You’ll notice the GUI flashes for a moment and the minimize animation plays again. toolbar buttons not showing sometimes after upgraded to iPadOS26.
(Sorry if this is not the right place to post...) I upgraded my iPad / macOS to 26 yesterday. Soon, I noticed that the two buttons in the toolbar would sometimes not appear: Note that they should be visible at all times. I played a little more to see if there was any pattern, but I could not find any. Has anyone experienced something similar...? Is this an iPadOS26 bug? (I haven't checked with an iPhone yet.) Thanks.

App getting stuck after active from background
I got users feed back, sometimes they seem the launch screen after active from background, and the launch screen show more longer than the cold launch. I check the app's log, when this issue happens, it displays a view controller named 'STKPrewarmingViewController', and disappears after about 5 seconds. And form the normal users, app don't have same behavior. It seems app need prewarming after back from background, why? Devices System version: iOS 18.4, app build with Xcode 16. How to fixed this issues? Thanks!

PDFKit PdfView Black Boxes sometimes
Hi! I'm using PDFKits PdfView to display a PDF file and after several page changes, the background turns black, suddenly (like a big black rectangle). The error occurs in the Books App on the iPad as well and looks similiar to this issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8627073?sortBy=rank Anyone got a solution for this?

keyboard crash
My app encountered a crash problem. The analysis stack seems to be related to the keyboard. The system keyboard code is unresponsive for a long time until it crash. The feature of the stack, BrowserEngineKit, seems to indicate the webview scene. Xcode debugging found that tap the input box on the webview page can reproduce the same stack as the crash, but the crash cannot be reproduced. I noticed a feedback link https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/784718, which is the same as the top of the crash stack I encountered, so the root cause of the problem may be similar, caused by the locking operation related to UIKeyboardTaskQueue. Hope to give some suggestions. Detection of Unavailable Characters (Tofu Box) in a String
Hi, I wanted to know what is the best way to detect whether a part of string has an unavailable character, '□' (tofu box or last resort character). So far it seems to be that we will have to parse all the strings and individually check for each character and whether or not it is a part of the Unicode Scalar. And since we are a business application that deals with a lot of data as strings, this will be rather performance heavy. So wanted to know if there were any other better or more efficient ways to go about this?

iOS 18.x iPhone 15, & 15 ProMax Buttons/Labels Disappear
Only people using iPhone 15 and iPhone 15Pro (don't know about iPhone 15 plus or iPhone 15 pro max) are having problems with my App. All seems fine on 13, 14 and 16 as well as iPad The app is in testflight now. I cannot replicate the issue in MAC via virtual iPhone 15 , 15 plus, pro, or promax. What I see happening - it looks like users are seeing labels disappear, sometimes buttons are disappearing on the 15 pro and 15. I have an ingredient selection page where you can select the ingredients that you have. These are outlined and grouped to make choosing ingredients intuitive. I have a profile selector where you can choose by flavor, strength, body or mood. At the bottom I have three buttons , button one lets you choose if drinks are sorted or strictly matched. The last button allows the user to see the drinks they can make based on ingredients they have. This is done by matching the ingredients with a locally placed drinks list which contains a drink id, drink name, ingredients and profile information. Clicking the last button opens a flatlist. Users on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15Pro iOS 18 sometimes experience the three buttons at the bottom being gone altogether. then returning. After clicking the Drinks Available button the button label should change to hide available drinks, but sometimes that label disappears. The drinks flat list has space for many drinks but the labels for those drinks are not present until halfway down the list where one drink shows up. No other device behaves this way. It might be more common when there are large number of ingredients selected ....e.g., if about 50% of 211 ingredients selected it might be more likely to happen. This needs to be tested to verify,

React Native/Expo App Shows White Screen in Production Builds - Works Fine in Development
Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm experiencing a persistent issue with my React Native/Expo app that I've been trying to resolve for weeks. I'm hoping someone here has encountered and solved this problem. The Problem: • My app works perfectly in development (Expo Go, local builds, simulators) • When built for production and installed via TestFlight, it shows only a white screen • The app launches successfully (no crashes) but never renders any UI • This happens consistently across multiple builds and attempts Technical Details: • Framework: React Native 0.79.5 with Expo SDK 53 • Backend: Supabase • Navigation: React Navigation What I've Tried: ✅ Created missing .env file with environment variables ✅ Installed missing peer dependencies (expo-font) ✅ Ran npx expo-doctor - all checks pass ✅ Added error boundaries and loading screens ✅ Incremented build numbers and rebuilt multiple times ✅ Verified Supabase credentials are correct ✅ Checked native iOS logs - app launches successfully, no crashes Key Observations: Works in Expo Go ✅ Works in development builds ✅ Fails in production builds ❌ No JavaScript errors visible in system logs App process runs stable (no crashes) Questions: • Has anyone encountered this specific issue with React Native/Expo production builds? • Are there known issues with Metro bundler in production builds? • Could this be related to JavaScript bundle loading in production? • Are there specific EAS Build configurations that might cause this? Repository: https://github.com/bigmoud/voluntr (if anyone wants to examine the code)

perspectiveTransform causing large memory spike / app being killed
I have a PDF which contains geocoordinates. I'm extracting out that image with the following code (this is for an iOS application): guard let cgDocument = CGPDFDocument(overlay.pdfUrl as CFURL) else { return } guard let cgPage = cgDocument.page(at: 1) else { return } var boundingRect = self.rect(for: overlay.boundingMapRect) let pdfPageRect = cgPage.getBoxRect(.mediaBox) let renderer = UIGraphicsImageRenderer(size: pdfPageRect.size) var img = renderer.image { ctx in UIColor.white.set() ctx.fill(pdfPageRect) ctx.cgContext.translateBy(x: 0.0, y: pdfPageRect.size.height) ctx.cgContext.scaleBy(x: 1.0, y: -1.0) ctx.cgContext.drawPDFPage(cgPage) } Once I have that image, I then need to adjust it to fit the specific coordinate corners. For that, I'm doing the following using a perspectiveTransform: let ciImg = CIImage(image: img)! let perspectiveTransformFilter = CIFilter.perspectiveTransform() perspectiveTransformFilter.inputImage = ciImg perspectiveTransformFilter.topRight = cartesianForPoint(point: ur, extent: boundingRect) perspectiveTransformFilter.topLeft = cartesianForPoint(point: ul, extent: boundingRect) perspectiveTransformFilter.bottomRight = cartesianForPoint(point: lr, extent: boundingRect) perspectiveTransformFilter.bottomLeft = cartesianForPoint(point: ll, extent: boundingRect) let txImg = perspectiveTransformFilter.outputImage! img = UIImage(ciImage: txImg) The original image is 792 x 612 (a landscape PDF) but the boundingRect covering the coordinates is 25625 x 20030. Obviously when I try to draw the image into that bounding box the app runs out of memory (25625 x 20030 x 4 is around 2GB of memory). What I'm struggling with is - how do I correctly scale this image to fit into the bounding box even though the bounding box is, oh, 10x the resolution of the actual device? There's some key CoreGraphics thing I'm sure I'm missing here.

IOS cursor control
My app controls the cursor movement in a text view on iPhone and iPads. On screen touch, the IOS cursor position is out of sync with the app cursor position. Is there a way to find out, on screen touch, where the ios cursor positition is and update the app cursor to the ios cursor position? When they are out of sync, the user has to move the cursor to the startIndex and navigate from there. Frustating! I have looked at many programming books, forums, and internet search with nothing to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The app names are SummaGramPhonex and SummaGramIPAD11 and SummaGramIPAD13. Thanks. Charlie 3Sep25
