Downgrade from Watch OS 2 to 1.0.1
I initally installed IOS 9 Beta, and then was able to install watch OS 2 after that. After using it a day, ios 9 was too glitchy and it was hard to use my phone. When I downgraded to ios 8.3, it is now not letting me use my apple watch because my phone isn't on ios 9. Is there any way on getting my watch back on 1.0.1?Would this work?1. Install iOS 9 beta again.2. In the apple watch app, restore the watch to the first backup (after I unpaired it before the inital ios2 update)3. Restore iPhone back to iOS 8.34. Sync iPhone to new apple watchThis will take a lot of work/time to complete. Does the apple watch restore restore the firmware as well? Thanks!

Reply to WCSession sendMessage returning errors (simulator)
Because you're calling the code to start the session in your view controller, you'll have to actually start your iPhone app in order to initiate session info from the iPhone. When you run the watch scheme, only the watch simulator launches the app. Your iPhone app is launched in the background of the iPhone simulator if your watch tries to access it. Also, my understanding is you have to call the same activateSession and delegate methods in the watchkit extension and the iPhone app. But I could be wrong on this part. I think maybe why you're seeing the error message is that your initiating the session on the iphone app, but running only the watch app. so the watch tries to look for a session that isn't there because your iPhone view controller wasn't launched to create the session yet.

Reply to Hiding UISearchBar in UITableView
OK. I figured out what was happening. I dragged Search Bar and Search Display Controller from the IB object library into my XIB thinking it as UISearchController. The old stuff is deprecated and I figured IB would only be supporting the new UISearchController but it doesn't. If you want to use UISearchController (preferred for iOS 8+) then you have to add it programmatically. So I did and it works rather well; except for one thing: on start of my app part of the search bar appears to be underneath my section title. The UISearchController is configured as shown here: self.searchController = [[UISearchController alloc] initWithSearchResultsController:nil]; self.searchController.searchResultsUpdater = self; self.searchController.dimsBackgroundDuringPresentation = false; self.searchController.hidesNavigationBarDuringPresentation = true; self.searchController.searchBar.delegate = self; self.searchController.searchBar.returnKeyType = UIReturnKeyDone; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = self.searchController.sea

Handoff automatic link to app
Just a small thing that i would have liked in iOS 9 is Handoff which will show directly the app that i'll be moved to on the lockscreen.Let's say that I'm watching some Youtube video and i want to swich to my phone. When I do that, as I already have the Youtube app, it will bring me to the app, but still from Safari to the app.It will be nice if on the Lockscreen I see the actual app icon, then directly go to and when I'm watching my video started on my mac I'll not have a « Back to Safari » linkI also hope that once with the Unified Membership, we'll see more mac apps 😀

Swift and Mathematics
Hi all?I am an electrical engineer who has recently learnt Swift for a new project.I know Swift is an OO language but I can't resist making comparisons to other languages I have used previously in science and academia. The applications I am writing relies heavily on mathematics and I really wish Swift had more built in support for basic mathematical constructs.I was very disappointed to see Apple reserving the ^ keyword for a bitwise operation (XOR) rather than a power function as is pretty standard elsewhere. If I could have one built in function added to Swift it would be the Power function using preferably the ^ keyword. After that, why not throw in the basic trigonometric functins too? Would that be too much to ask? I don't condone bloating Swift by adding every single mathematical function in existance, just a few of these basics to make the easy stuff a whole lot quicker and more portable.Yes I know you can use overload operators and subscripts, but this just adds more custom code which k

IBDesignable View w/ Fixed Aspect Ratio
I'm trying to build a IBDesignable View with a fixed aspect ratio. The goal is to be able to just assign the custom class and then be able to move and resize the view in Interface Builder while maintaining a set aspect ratio. Note: This means WITHOUT adding an Aspect Ratio constraint on the view with Interface Builder. I want a widget that just works.Any ideas?

Apple WatchOS 2 and iOS 9 won't pair
Yesterday, I updated the iPhone to iOS 9, and watch to OS2 fine. Today, I downgraded to iOS 8 because the phone was too glitchy. After realizing the iPhone won't work with the apple watch since WatchOS 2 and iOS 9 aren't compatable, I updated back to iOS 9. Now my watch just stays on the apple loop, and if I get through to the pairing screen, my iPhone will not see it (manually or through the camera). Any advice?

Reply to Swift and Mathematics
Yes, Swift should provide more built in functions. For maths, it should speak the language of mathematicians, not of computer scientist.I posted a similar comment for set related functions, where syntax is at odds with the language used for set theory.I expect it from Apple, they learn the (math) language to the machine and not force users to learn machine language.PS: similar for string manipulation which remains very cumbersome with the range ; I would appreciate a more direct manipulation.

Reply to Java SE 6
Hi, i found a solution and it worked for me - try and google Oliver Dowling and Java SE 8 on Mac OSX. There is a good instruction. Follow the steps, Illustrator and co are working right now, what a livesaver. I can't post a link in here, I tryied yesterday, but Apple still wants to moderate my comment.

Location for filesystem bundle?
With 10.11 El Capitan some directories in /System has been locked down. This is all fine and we can handle that, with the exception of our filesystem-bundle. Ie, what we would place in /System/Library/Filesystems/zfs.fs/ can no longer be put there. (rootless).I have noticed that diskartbitrationd does build a path using /Filesystems but the obvious places (/L/Filesystems and ~/L/Filesystems) do not work.So what is the new location for our filesystem bundles ? Asking users to disable rootless to install a filesystem does seem somewhat extreme. Please advice,Lund
