Is there a way how to detect at runtime if running on iPad Pro with Pencil connected? Other than detecting type of touch.I mean something similar to UITraitCollection.forceTouchCapability which seems to be false on iPad Pro despite providing force data.
hey! i have an ipad pro 11’ 2018, and everything was working fine until one day i wasn’t able to connect my apple pencil 2 to my ipad. the pencil itself gets detected it just won’t connect with my ipad. i already tried restarting, unpairing (even since i wasn’t able to pair it) and even restoring my ipad. does anyone have a solution for this?
Also have the same issue with battery life, downloaded the recent bug fixes and constant battery problems and overheating off phone. Has anyone heard from Apple on this?

I have a 2nd gen Apple Pencil, but when I try to pair it, there is just an icon on the top of the screen indicating that it detects one, but then it straight up disappears and the Pencil never paired, nor will it show up on the Bluetooth settings. It might be because of my iPad because I’ve tried different Pencils but none of them worked. And I’ve tried resetting my network settings and even the whole iPad itself and the issue remains. Am I the only one who has this problem?
HiJust me or is anyone else having Apple Pencil issues with iOS 11?Have an iPad Pro 10.5 and with the latest beta have noticed that my Apple Pencil does not charge - always showing at 0% (sometimes red, sometimes green).Have plugged it in to the iPad Pro for over an hour at a time, still no charge - will work for a couple of minutes after unplugging then stop. Likewise when plugged in to the power adaptor in the wall.Have hard reset the iPad, have even un-paired the Apple Pencil and re-paired. Still no difference.Trying to work out if it is a faulty Pencil or an iOS 11 beta issue.
Hello, no one else seems to be having this problem. My Apple Pencil is paired with my iPad Pro and shows as charging but will not write. The screen displays a series of dots instead of a solid stroke and there’s a latency. The pencil worked perfectly before I updated to iOS 11. Nonetheless I changed the tip but no luck. I hate to install iOS 10 again but my primary use for my iPad Pro is hand writing. Any tips?
I’ve noticed a significant impact to the battery life of my 11 Pro since installing iOS 14. I would average approximately 15 to 20% remaining end of day With average use. Post install I’m seeing between five and 10% remaining end of day. Average use is approximately 5 to 6 hours per day with non-charge time of 10 to 14 hours. It’s also safe to note that I’ve noticed a significant increase in the heat output of the back of the phone since installing iOS 14. Enough to become discomfort while in pocket.
Just got my hands on the Apple Pencil Pro, and was looking forward to being able to add tactile feedback to my apps through the Pencil. Apple appears to have updated their docs to make mention of the possibility of haptic feedback via the pencil and makes vague references to a certain SwiftUI modifier, but doesn't give any pencil-specific guidelines, code or speak about its capabilities at all. I'd like to ask if its possible to use CoreHaptic to queue custom haptic feedback (as of now the standard code which works on iPhone doesn't seem to work on an iPad with a paired Pencil Pro), or if that's not possible if there are any updated resources/example code for triggering predefined Pencil Pro haptics.
in OS11, my Apple Pencil has become flaky and inconsistent when writing. Particularly when I have my hand resting on the screen to write, it now creates dotted characters instead of strokes, or nothing at all. There is a lag. This seems worse with my hand resting. It is better if you make no other contact with the screen except for the pencil but only yesterday before I updated, all was well under OS10. I also use the third party handwriting app NOTES PLUS and this is now very erratic and practically unusable. I have restarted, turned BT off and on to re-connect the Pencil, recharged Pencil, changed tip, cleaned screen. Also tried many apps with the same result. (Notes Plus, INKredible, Paper 53, Notepad+, as well as the Apple Notes app pre-installed. All now give bad results with these new symptoms that did not exist prior to OS11.
i have the latest watchOS beta and i hardly use my watch but ive noticed the battery life even after half a day doesnt last as long
This solved it for me. Un-pair and re-pair. Now my battery life is normal again.UPDATEThe good battery life only lasted for a day. My watch has gone back to losing battery life quickly. I'm using the Activity Digital watch face. I usually have the weather complication on there, but it has been off for a little while and battery life is still draining.I will grab a system diagnostic log and submit a bug report.

Hello, The Apple Pencil Pro brought with it the UICanvasFeedbackGenerator API, which lets us trigger haptic feedback on discrete events initiated by the pencil. That works fine. My question then: is it possible / are we allowed to trigger haptic feedback on events that weren't initiated by the pencil? For example, say the user is using a left hand finger to drag a slider, while holding the pencil in their right hand-- would it be possible to make the pencil vibrate to indicate the dragged slider knob reached a certain point? Or is the rule that vibration is only possible/allowed when the pencil itself generated a touch? Thanks!
I am also experiencing this issue. I am not on beta 3, but on the release version of iPadOS 15.5 on my iPad Pro 12.9 M1. Nothing seems to work, I also tried restarting, reconnecting with bluetooth and forgetting the Apple Pencil 2, but it does not work anymore right after the update to iPadOS 15.5. The only thing that happens is a small popup with Apple Pencil when I place the Pencil on the magnetic charging pad on the side. So it is there (and not broken), but normally it also displays the battery charge percentage when you do this, so it is not connected with bluetooth. I talked to Apple Support and they sent me to the Apple Store to have it checked out. But reading from experience here; this must be a software bug. This needs to be fixed ASAP as I am an artist and I need my Apple Pencil to do my work.
