BLE advertisement and scan response
Dear Apple: If a BLE advertisement carries both a 16-bit service UUIDs and a 128-bit service UUIDs along with a local name, the local name will be placed in the scan response, then when the advertisement is turned off, both the 16-bit and 128-bit service UUIDs disappear while the local name persists. Subsequently, when transmitting a new advertisement that includes the 16-bit service UUIDs and local name, the resulting advertisement contains two local names. What methods can be used to avoid having two local names appearing simultaneously? Thanks

BLE advertisement
Dear Apple: After upgrading to version 26 of the iPhone, when broadcasting using the local name, the iPhone 15 Pro Max was truncated to iPhone 15 Pro Ma with a type of 08 (shortened), but the overall length of the broadcast did not exceed 31 bytes

BLE Scan Response
The iPhone XS Max and Garmin watch pairing cannot use BLE to send Scan Response; it can only send BLE advertisements. May I ask if this is a limitation of the Apple system? So far, we have tested several iPhone models, and only the iPhone XS Max has this issue. We are not sure if other untested models have the same problem.

Constraining Beacon with CLBeaconIdentityCondition
In reference to this webpage, I'm turning my iPad to an iBeacon device. class BeaconViewModel: NSObject, ObservableObject, CBPeripheralManagerDelegate { private var peripheralManager: CBPeripheralManager? private var beaconRegion: CLBeaconRegion? private var beaconIdentityConstraint: CLBeaconIdentityConstraint? //private var beaconCondition: CLBeaconIdentityCondition? override init() { super.init() if let uuid = UUID(uuidString: "abc") { beaconIdentityConstraint = CLBeaconIdentityConstraint(uuid: uuid, major: 123, minor: 456) beaconRegion = CLBeaconRegion(beaconIdentityConstraint: beaconIdentityConstraint!, identifier: "com.example.myDeviceRegion") peripheralManager = CBPeripheralManager(delegate: self, queue: nil, options: nil) } } func peripheralManagerDidUpdateState(_ peripheral: CBPeripheralManager) { switch peripheral.state { case .poweredOn: startAdvertise() case .poweredOff: peripheralManager?.stopAdvertising() default: break } } func startAdvertise() { guard let beaconRegion = beaconRegion else { return } let peripheralData = beaconRegion.peripheralData(withMeasuredPower: nil) peripheralManager?.startAdvertising(((peripheralData as NSDictionary) as! [String: Any])) } func stopAdvertise() { peripheralManager?.stopAdvertising() } } In Line 10, I'm using CLBeaconidentityConstraint to constrain the beacon. Xcode says that this class is deprecated and suggests that we use CLBeaconIdentityCondition. But if I try to use it, Xcode says Cannot find type 'CLBeaconIdentityCondition' in scope I've just updated Xcode to 16.4. I still get the same error. So how do we use CLBeaconIdentityCondition to constrain the beacon? My macOS version is Sequoia 15.5. Thanks.

How can I get a cover-art image via Bluetooth BIP
I want to get Cover-Art Image over Bluetooth. From the SDP Discover iPhoneSE, it support Cover-Art Feature. I connect and config OBEX Channel with L2CAP ERTM, it is successful. I send connect_request the OBEX Connect, the iPhone always no any response, and l2cap s-frame response from iPhone always failed. From the Apple Developer, it need Apple Authentication Chip. Is it still necessary now? Are there any other ways to obtain album pictures?

Long running data BLE data syncing in the background
I am working on a Flutter application which is use solely to collect data from a bluetooth low energy (BLE) peripheral and then upload the data to our cloud. The application runs in the background 99% of the time after the initial login and BLE pairing which is causing us some issues. After the Application is backgrounded it would work for a day to 2 days and then stop working. (What I mean with working is to download data from the BLE peripheral and then upload the data to our cloud). Once the data syncing has stopped it would take up to 12 hours until data starts flowing again. I have read in a couple of places that iOS implements some sort of "budget/heuristics" when the application is running in the background to keep track of the application and when this "budget" is used up iOS will stop servicing the application until iOS decides that the application can run in the background again. My question, is it possible via a enablement or some other mechanism to prevent iOS from blocking our application from running in the background to enable 24/7 periodic data uploads every 30 minutes. We have implemented the following so far; The data sync process is triggered from the BLE peripheral using a notification. This notification is sent every 30 minutes. Each sync duration is currently 24 seconds on average, we are working on reducing this to below 10 seconds. We implemented State Restoration to assist iOS in starting the application more efficiently. We are considering using Silent Push Notifications from the Cloud to wake up the application when data hasn't synced in 6 hours. Any assistance would be high appreciated.

Confused by what is allowed for System Level Apple Watch Bluetooth Connection. Does it require MFi or are there only some BLE chips allowed?
Hello. I am building a BLE device that is Activity Fitness based and would like a "System Level" BLE connection on WatchOS using an ESP32 (I have built a test of this on the firmware side). Meaning I do not want my iOS app to pass the BLE connection to the WatchOS app. It seems like these App Level connections do not get as many background updates as a System Level connection, and also requires the WatchOS app to be launched to connect to the BLE device The System Level BLE connection (WatchOS Settings > BLE > Health Devices) allows for auto connection in the background, and gets more reliable background communication between the BLE device and the Apple Watch On the Apple MFi Page it only mentions iOS: From Apple MFi Page: :: Who does NOT need to join - Developers and manufacturers of accessories that connect to an Apple device using only Bluetooth Low Energy, Core Bluetooth, or standard Bluetooth profiles supported by iOS Does this apply to WatchOS as well? So, if I am making an BLE device that is Activity Based, and has one of the allowable Health Device UUIDs, is the BLE System Connection allowed using any BLE chip? Including say an ESP32 I have built a test BLE firmware that is a Health Device UUID, and the WatchOS sees it as a health device Is this fine then? No need for MFi application and also no need to worry about which BLE chip is used? thanks

CoreBluetooth on vision os cannot connect 3 or more devices.
I try to use CoreBluetooth api on my cus app on vision os. I could connect to two devices on my app, but couldn’t with 3 or more device. Despite connecting the third device using this api, the function does not return anything. When two devices are connected on bluetooth setting, I see the same situation on my custom app. However, I could connect 3 or more devices on the default blu setting. Is there anyone who has similar problem?

BLE Performance Issue – Increased Latency When Running Scan Algorithm via iPad
I'm developing an application in Swift using Xcode on an iPad Pro. The app communicates over BLE with a custom hardware board. The board runs a scan algorithm in response to commands from the iPad application. When testing the scan algorithm on the board independently, it completes in approximately 35 ms. However, when triggered via BLE communication from the iPad, the same algorithm takes around 150 ms to complete (roughly equivalent to 3 BLE messages). Is this level of latency expected when using BLE on iOS, or is there a way to reduce it? I’d appreciate any guidance on improving the performance. Thank you!

Manufacturer data is duplicated in extended adverts
While implementing the extended adverts scanning, I noticed that фfter some time from the start of scanning(CBCentralManagerScanOptionAllowDuplicatesKey is true), the manufacturer data is duplicated. The first part is the actual data, and the second part is the same bytes that the device sent about 10 seconds before. This replicates on iPhone 11 - 14 but does not work on 16 Pro. I also saw the same behavior in third party BLE scanning applications. We also tried increasing the interval between sending adverts by the device and got the same result Does anyone know what the problem could be?

A proper design approach for implementing a data logger using BLE in an iOS app.
Thank you for always reading my questions. This time, I'd like to ask some specific questions to gain a deeper understanding of iOS CoreBluetooth. In the previous question, we learned that although iOS can perform BLE scanning in the background, it is not suitable for use as a data logger. I was also taught that when using it as a data logger, the iOS app should use GATT communication, and that instead of reading data from the device one by one, it is recommended to store large amounts of data on the device and connect at an appropriate time (such as when the iOS app enters the foreground) to retrieve the data all at once. My requirements are the same as last time. I want to send data from a device equipped with some kind of sensor via BLE and display it in a graph in the iOS app. Data should be acquired every few to tens of seconds and reflected immediately in the graph. Measurements may take up to 24 hours at most. I would like to avoid making any major changes to the device. Also, it is unclear whether there will be enough memory for the data logger for 24 hours. Therefore, I am first looking for an appropriate communication method for the iOS app. iOS is smart and convenient, so I think users will check the measurement status every time they use this iOS app. Therefore, I want to be able to check the changes from the start of measurement to the present in a graph as soon as the app is launched. I would like to measure data from multiple devices (e.g. 5 devices) at the same time. I have a question based on the above requirements. When thinking about the best way to avoid making changes to the device, the only way I could come up with, as someone with insufficient iOS technology, is to keep the connection open via GATT communication and continue to obtain data. However, does iOS GATT communication have any limitations in this regard? Will the OS automatically disconnect GATT communication at a certain time? Also, if that happens, is there a way to automatically reconnect and obtain the data? Is it possible to smoothly obtain data using iOS GATT communication without any particular restrictions even in the background? Are any other permissions required? Regarding the sixth requirement. Until last time, with BLE scanning, even if there were multiple devices, the iOS app could measure the data for as many devices as it wanted, but this time, how many devices can be read? In the case of GATT communication with iOS CoreBluetooth, can multiple devices maintain a long connection? Or is it basically better to have one device per connection when creating such an app for iOS? I would like to know if there are any restrictions or points to be careful of when using GATT communication with multiple devices. I'm sorry for broadening my question, but if neither question 1 nor question 2 works, it will put a burden on the design of the device. If data is stored on the device, is it possible to automatically and periodically connect to the device at a set time interval (for example, once an hour, allowing for some margin of error) when the iOS app is in the background, and obtain log data from the device? If you can think of any other best methods, please feel free to let me know. Also, I'd be happy if you could reply with any reference materials or URLs. Please note that our response may be delayed.

How to send events from Bluetooth device to server when app is in background
Hi. I have a device that is connected to my phone and sends few bytes at different times. The app caches those events and sends them to server as soon as internet is available. This all works, but when app goes to background or user locks the phone then after few seconds app has no internet access. It still caches the events that are important but unable to send them until app is brought to foreground. How can app still connect to server? I saw few posts saying they solved it by using URLSession with a background mode, but in my case it says: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSGenericException', reason: 'Upload tasks from NSData are not supported in background sessions.' As I understood URLSession can download or upload files, but the events comming from BLE device are few bytes, so how to send them to server as soon as possible? Found this stackoverflow question and gave me some hopes https://stackoverflow.com/questions/63016680/sending-network-request-after-bluetooth-update-while-ios-app-is-in-background but no examples at all.
