Create shortcut to open chrome with url and put it on the desktop. Tap the shortcut. Tap the username text field. When launching Safari from an iOS shortcut on an iOS device with a valid passkey registered, the passkey suggestion does not appear; instead, the password suggestion appears sometimes.

Hi everyone, I want users not to see the system context menu when long-pressing text on a page in Safari on iOS. I found on MDN that the CSS property -webkit-touch-callout: none; can achieve this. But in reality, it doesn't really work. We have a login flow where the user authenticates in Safari, and at the end of the process the authentication server redirects back to our app using a Universal Link. On most devices, the app opens automatically without any confirmation banner. However, on several iPads, Safari always shows the “Open App A?” banner after the redirect. The user must tap Open every time. Other devices running the same iOS version do not show this issue. Is there any way to prevent Safari from showing the “Open App A?” banner and allow automatic redirection? ＊This issue did not occur on iOS 16, but it started appearing after updating to iOS 17. Apple's WWDC video What’s new for the spatial web says the spatial-backdrop markup may change as it goes through the standards process (at 27:26 mark). I have started adding spatial-backdrops to web pages, so I want to keep an eye out for status updates by Apple and follow the standards progress. Is there any place I can keep an eye on this standards process? Has Apple announced any feature updates or news on spatial-backdrops?

I'm building a progressive web app (PWA) and came to the conclusion that almost nobody knows that this feature exists - Add to Home Screen. Not many people even understand what a PWA is or that you can add it to the home screen. This feels unnatural compared to installing an app from a store. Why do we make it so hard for users? Could we not make this easier by having the ability to call this installation or show an install notification? Right now, when users visit a PWA on iOS, there's no way for developers to let them know they can install it. The "Add to Home Screen" option is tucked away in the Share menu, and most users never find it. I'd really like to be able to show them a friendly prompt. Comparing to other browsers, this is possible via the beforeinstallprompt event. This would make a huge difference for user experience. Right now the only way is to show iOS users a separate set of instructions with screenshots, which feels clunky compared to what's possible on other platforms. I'm curious - is there any reason why this hasn't been added to Safari yet? Other browsers have supported this for years now. Is there any progress being made on this, or is it being considered for the roadmap? It would be really helpful to know if this is something that will be worked on in the future. I know there's a lot on the roadmap, but this would really help developers create better installation experiences for our users. Thanks for considering this!

The AppleScript script below returns a -600 error (application not running) under STP Tahoe version 231 and macOS 26.1. Hello We've encountered an issue with WKWebView in the latest iOS 26 beta. When loading a PDF URL, the background of the PDF viewer now displays as a dark gray instead of the expected white. Device: iOS 26 Simulator/Device Component: WKWebView Issue: The background color of the loaded PDF is gray. Expected Behavior: The background should be white, as it has been in all previous iOS versions. Questions: Is this an intentional change in iOS 26's WKWebView? If so, is there a new property or configuration setting available to control the background color of the PDF viewer within WKWebView? We would like to have the ability to set it back to white. Any insights, workarounds, or information on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ever since the iOS and iPadOS 26.2 beta I can’t open Safari at all. Safari tries to open but crashes and goes back to my home screen. I’ve restored my devices and restarted everything and the same issue occurs. I didn’t have this problem on the beta 26.1 but this whole thing started on 26.2.

Hi. With update to 26.2 on my iPad the Favorites Bar has gone missing in Safari. "Show Favorites Bar" is selected in Apps -> Safari. I've emptied cache, deleted all history, etc in Safari. Restarted the iPad multiple times, but issues prersists. This issue is limited to my iPad. Favorites appear in both my iPhone and MacBook. Any ideas?

Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm experiencing an issue with PDF link interaction in WKWebView that appears to be specific to iOS 26. Problem Description: I'm loading a PDF in WKWebView.The links may vary widely and are not necessarily DPF, so I need to load them using WKWebView. On iOS versions prior to 26, links within the PDF are clickable and work correctly. On iOS 26, the same links are not clickable (no response when tapped). Expected Behavior: PDF links should remain clickable and functional across all iOS versions. Hi there, I have a popular open source app called Foqos. What I'm finding in iOS 26 (might even effect older versions) is that when using the webcontent api within Managed settings as the following: store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .specific(domains) It doesn't work on Safari, but does work on third party applications like chrome, firefox, etc. But when using the all and exception enum like the following store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .all(except: domains) This does work on Safari This is pretty inconsistent behavior of the API and should be fixed to match the documentation. Documentation does not mention anything about Safari limitations Again source code is open: https://github.com/awaseem/foqos You can run the app yourself and find the same issues. Is anyone else experiencing this?

iPadOS 26, dark mode Open Safari Search for anything or open a website that has white background Kill Safari Open Safari again I still can reproduce it with Safari on iPadOS 26.0.1 This issue also happens to my app when opening a HTML/JS on WKWebView with white background while using dark mode. I did send a feedback ticket when using iPadOS 26 beta but havent seen any reply. This is my first time sending a feedback so I dont know if Apple would reply or not.

Enabling Private Relay seems to block XHR in Safari from reaching a local HTTPS server hosted by an iOS app, though it works in other browsers. Before (working): JS → https://local.example.com → 127.0.0.1 → OK After (blocked / no DNS reply probably): JS → https://local.example.com → ERR Is there any way to restore local domain access or mitigate this issue?

After updating to the new iOS, in Safari, my overlays and backdrops using 100dvh no longer cover the full screen there's now a gap at the bottom. Switching to 100vh fixes it, but that causes scrolling issues on older Safari versions since 100vh includes extra height. Has anyone else experienced this? What's the recommended fix that works across iOS versions?

After updating to Safari 26.0 (on macOS Sequoia or Tahoe), the Declarative Net Request (DNR) API rule with "type": "redirect" no longer works as expected. When the rule is applied, the browser initially shows a banner at the top of the page: "This webpage was reloaded because a problem occurred." After the reload, the page fails to load and displays an error page with the message: "A problem repeatedly occurred with https://extensionworkshop.com/?test=true " This behavior is new in Safari 26.0. The same rule was working correctly in earlier Safari versions (17.x / 18.x).

I like the toolbar visionOS's Safari uses for back & forward page, share, etc. It floats above the window. My attempt to do this with ornaments isn't as satisfying as they partially cover the window. My attempts with toolbar haven't produced visible results. Is this Safari-style toolbar for visionOS exposed by Apple in the API's? If so, could someone point me to documentation or sample code? Hello, I've got Smart App Banner set up on my website. However, I want to be able to measure the traffic coming from this banner to the app store / app (i.e. measure impressions/downloads). Apple documentation (https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/view-app-analytics/manage-campaigns/) says you can set up a campaign link and use it in the Smart Banner to track those who download / open the app store page using your smart banner (so that we can get attribution). However, there is no documentation at all in terms of how this should be added to the tag when implementing a Smart App Banner. I've tried so many different variations and none have tracked downloads. This includes a structure based on an example taken from WWDC from a few years back which also did not work. I would appreciate any help!

I’m observing an intermittent issue with a Safari Web Extension on macOS 15.7 (Safari 26.0.1). After installing the Safari extension from the App Store, it appears under Settings → Extensions, but the enable checkbox is often missing. Sometimes, after restarting Safari multiple times, the checkbox becomes visible. However, even when I manage to enable the extension, reopening Safari often hides the checkbox again. However, I don't see this issue in safari 26 with macOS 26 I’d like to know if this behavior is a known issue with Safari 26 or macOS 15.7? Any workaround available?
