Hallo all,
I did a test integration of MetricKit into one of our apps...I'am on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a). The app is not distributed via the App Store.
I subscribed to the MXMetricManager and implemented the didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads function.
So far everything seems to work, when I use in Xcode: Debug -> Simulate MetricKit Payload I get a callback and the payload.
So I did some further testing. When I build the app debug version with a test crash and then run the Debug Version (without Xcode) and let it crash the next time I start the app I get a callback to didReceiveDiagnosticPayloads with all the information about the crash.
But I'am not able to get a hang report. I tested it by adding a sleep (60) and adding some intensive computation work on the main thread so that it is busy for several seconds, I get no hang reports :-(
I'am using the Debug version and run it without Xcode.
Are hang reports expected to be reported immediately? I also get after 24 hours no hang reports.
Can someone help me?
Thanks and have a nice day!

We are in the process of updating our legacy Spotlight MDImporter to the new macOS Spotlight App Extension.
The transition works well for standard attributes such as title, textContent, and keywords.
However, we encounter an issue when adding custom attributes to the CSSearchableItemAttributeSet.
These custom attributes are not being persisted, which means they cannot be queried using a Spotlight NSMetadataQuery.
Has anyone an idea on how to append custom attributes so that they are included in the indexed file status, as displayed by the shell command mdimport -t -d3 <path>
A sample project illustrating the problem is available here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/t8qg51cr1rpwouxdl900b/2024-09-04-Spotlight-extAttr.zip?rlkey=lg6n9060snw7mrz6jsxfdlnfa&dl=1
Hi, after updating to iOS 26 I'm encountering an issue where the FamilyActivityPicker no longer opens. No errors are shown in the console, it just never shows up. It works fine pre iOS 26. I've never had any issues with the picker showing up until iOS 26. My latest update was rejected because of this issue, but I've changed nothing in the code. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hello
Having trouble getting associated domain to work in our project. It was working when we used Branch, but our company wants to host the domain ourselves.
This is a multi-scheme project, using .xcconfig files to define the correct entitlement per Build.
The relevant entitlement file has:
com.apple.developer.associated-domains
applinks:bm.ddcas.ai in the
....{other irrelevant test associated domains....}
The project Team and App ID are taken from the Identifiers screen where the Identifier capabilities has 'associated domains' ticked on. I've also checked elsewhere on AppleDeveloper/Connect to be sure.
When we used Branch with domain key app links: bmstores.app.link this worked fine.
With https://bm.ddcas.ai (our own host) which is publicly available and has an aasa file in both the main directory and /.well-known, typing this in safari or anything just doesn't attempt to link to the App.
The iPhone is in developer mode, and using the developer menu associated domains diagnostic tool, typing https://bm.ddcas.ai results in the diagnostic saying 'The url is a Universal Link for the app with identifier **********.***etc (the app is installed on real iPhone 12, iOS 18.6.2 and my Xcode is 16.4)
However, it just doesn't work if we type in https://bm.ddcas.ai and results in a Safari message of '400 not found' and the 'nginx' shows.
We have read innumerable Apple Dev posts and StackOverflow posts, as well as several step by step 'how to's' online but this just isn't working.
The aasa file is at https://bm.ddcas.ai/apple-app-site-association and is setup as follows:
{
"applinks": {
"apps": [],
"details": [
{
"appID": "{my Team ID}.{my App ID}",
"paths": [
"*"
],
"components": [
{
"/": "/verification",
"?": {
"verification_code": "[A-Za-z0-9]{6}"
},
"comment": "Matches verification code path"
}
]
}
]
}
}
Our Server guys say the website (bm.ddcas.ai) is public and hosted, it just doesn't have a /verification path as they say it should redirect before reaching that.
Also, our Android redirect works using this site, so this appears to be something specific Apple code is looking for.
What, please, are we likely to be missing as it does not seem obvious from the Apple documentation or any of the resources I have checked online. Normally we can figure anything out, but getting nowhere here so the help is appreciated.
我完全复用了官方wwdc的Alarmkit的demo。测试过程发现12,13pro闹钟完全正常,15pro和16pro闹铃时间不对,经常不响,而且在设置中切换市时区时会立马响。这是api的bug么

I have also tested this on iOS 26 (Beta 9 and above), and the CallKit call blocking functionality is not working. Numbers that should be blocked still ring through. Caller Identification continues to function as expected, but blocking entries (addBlockingEntry) are ignored.
Hi All,
I am facing one problem in my app.
That is open battery settings from my app.
It is working fine in iOS 16.0.0 and it's not working in iOS 18.6.1
is it possible to make it workable in iOS 18.6.1?
If so How to do that?
Please help me over this to resolve the problem.
Thanks,
Nguyen Quang Minh
How can we subscribe to over 200 million api calls per month? from WeatherKit api documentation, the max is 200m calls/month
I’m developing a VoIP app that uses Linphone and CallKit. Everything works as expected until the user enables the speaker on the native CallKit screen. After that, all subsequent calls start with the speaker already on. Even if I call AVAudioSession.sharedInstance().overrideOutputAudioPort(.none), it gets overridden when the call starts (when Linphone begins playing the ringtone). I tested this behavior in WhatsApp, and it seems to work correctly there.
Hello, currently working on messenger with audio/video calls feature. Have found strange behavior, on some devices after accepting call via Lock Screen video button appears to be disabled.
Tested on wwdc Speakerbox sample, same code
iPhone 15 Pro (iOS 17.4.1) - video button disabled
iPhone 14 (iOS 17.6.1) - video button active
Here is my, configuration with supportVideo activated
static let providerConfiguration: CXProviderConfiguration = {
let configuration = CXProviderConfiguration()
configuration.supportsVideo = true
configuration.maximumCallGroups = 1
configuration.maximumCallsPerCallGroup = 1
configuration.supportedHandleTypes = [.generic]
return configuration
}()
What can be the reason of this behavior?
Thanks
I have a Qt desktop app that I was shipping to users as a dmg on macOS. But now I'll need to kind of rebrand the app to different users, that rebranding involves changing the name and the icon of the app
I'm not sure how feasible that is on macOS but here's what I'm thinking: First I'll include all apps for all brands inside the app resources, and instead of shipping the app directly, I will ship and installer (either .pkg or a custom made installer app) that will be responsible for downloading the main app and also setting some environmental variables somewhere so that I can choose the icon from the resources based on the env var values. And then either change the app icon and name from the installer itself, or implement something inside the app that makes it change the icon and name on launch (both icon in finder and in dock) but maybe one of those methods (or both) will break the codesign/notarization of the app so I want to avoid that too
I'm not sure if someone has done this before or how feasible such scenario is. Is what I'm thinking valid? or is there a whole other way possibly easier than this to go about implementing such feature?
The purpose of this is that I don't want to have to create multiple releases for multiple brands when they're all the same application with different icons/names, and also when releasing an update it will be just one update for all brands
Thank you in advance and feel free to ask any further questions for clarification
We are developing a parental control application in SwiftUI with features like app blocking and screen time management. We are using the Family Control API along with Apple Family Sharing, allowing parents to add multiple children to the family group. We have followed the apple documentation still we are facing following issues:
App Blocking Issue: The family picker does not display each child's name separately or their apps individually. Instead, it shows all children's apps together, making it difficult to block apps for a specific child.
Screen Time Data Issue: We receive the total screen time usage for all children combined rather than separate screen time data for each child.
Syncing Delay: When a new child is added to the Family Sharing group, we are unsure how long it takes for their apps to sync and appear on the parent’s device.
ICEcard app is "Emergency as a Service" platform. One of the key feature is to know about primary info, health info, or in case missing child , elderly using Face scan of registered user of app via another registered user of ICEcard app. App was working fine but last 2-3 week back got issue reported of app getting closed as soon Face scan option is selected.
to simulate issue > register > open face scan icon at bottom home screen> select any of option accident or health issue or information >> app closes immediately.
Android app is working fine.

We have an application WAVE PTT(Push to talk) and
Application is in foreground state, When a user receives a cellular call and it is in the "ringing" state and application receives a VoIP APNS(video call) which is reported to CallKit.
User rejects the Cellular call from CallKit UI, application Video call is also getting rejected (separate feedback - 19017978) and Here the issue is observed that an Application moved to background(OS26 beta 9).
Issue is not observed in iOS 18 and older versions.
Frequency : 1 out of 3.

In iOS 26, on iPad (as least, but maybe phone too, yet to test) if you tap an iMessage (a second time) that should launch an iMessage App, it does not launch app.
Has anyone else seen this - it makes many iMessage app unusable.
Steps to reproduce
Send a message that launches iMessage on tap.
Tap message on recipient's device.
Observe iMessage App open.
Dismiss iMessage
Tap message again
Observe nothing happens, app is not launched.

The crash log, an IPS file, indicates a crash occurred at a specific time, with the exception backtrace pointing to _terminateAppIfThereAreUnhandledVoIPPushes. However, cross-reference with the SysDiagnose logs, there is no corresponding process or activity for the application at the reported crash time. The app was not active, nor was it woken up by any event.
IPS file and SysDiagnose logs have been attached in the Feedback.

In the past I was always able to install every major macOS version on an external drive so that I can test my apps. But now I'm unable to install macOS Tahoe 26 on an external drive. Actually, as far as I'm aware, there are not even official links to macOS 26 installers, but only instructions on how to update to macOS 26 from an existing macOS installation. So I thought I'd install macOS 15 on a separate drive and then update to macOS 26, but whenever I run the macOS 15 installer, tell it to install on the external drive, and reboot after the setup process completes, my MacBook just boots into my main macOS partition as if nothing happened.
3 months ago I somehow managed to install macOS Tahoe beta 1 on an external drive, I don't remember how (but I don't think it was anything crazy); booting into that beta 1 partition and trying to update doesn't work either, as my MacBook again boots into my main macOS partition. I already asked help about the update problem one month ago here, but nobody replied.
Could someone at Apple please provide instructions on how one is supposed to install macOS 26 on an external drive (if possible before it becomes available to the public)? Are we supposed to buy a separate Mac for every macOS version that we want to test our apps on?
I want to start the mail application from the development application, but the mail application made by Apple starts. It doesn't work even if I change the default email application to Outlook.
When you delete the Apple Mail app, Outlook starts. I want to automatically attach the generated pdf file to the email, but that doesn't work either.
Please tell me how to code.

Greetings,
With MacOS 15 Sequoia, Apple updated key-value-observations in such a way, that an unremoved observation by a now deallocated object will no longer cause an exception, when the observed object triggers said observation.
While this is fundamentally a positive change, the issue comes with the fact, that this change affects systems based on the version of their operating system and not the version of the operating system of the build system.
Many of our customers use old operating system versions and old hardware - meaning they can't easily update. Since we need to use up to date Xcode versions to develop for newer systems, our developers tend to have rather new OS versions.
This means, that we are increasingly facing bugs which only happen in customer systems but not in most developer (or QA) systems.
Currently, we still can use earlier OS versions with Xcode to fix these bugs, but once the used Xcode versions no longer support MacOS 14 or below this will become a major hurdle.
Are there known solutions to this issue?
We are currently attempting to swizzle observer adding and removal in order to fix the problem for old systems as well, but this has proven to be quite difficult and unstable. Since any weakly held property in the middle of an observation keypath can cause crashes, one would have to split up observations into multiple subobservations, which is less simple than it sounds, due to custom implementations of addObserver (such as there seems to be in array controller proxies) and collection operators.
Thanks for any suggestions!
