How to correctly convert the bytes type devicetoken obtained from the MDM description file to the 16-bit hexadecimal data required by APNS?
I have converted a large part of the data, but only 5% of the data was successfully converted. The failed devicetoken shows "bad devicetoken" when accessing APNS. Here are examples of failed conversions devicetoken. Is there any official documentation for this part? Error calling Test Notification endpoint
I'm trying to call the Test Notification endpoint: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appstoreserverapi/request_a_test_notification?language=objc I'm creating a JWT bearer token using a script I run on the console with these 2 commands: npm install jsonwebtoken fs and node generate_jwt.js Keys are taken from App Store Connect -> User and Access -> Integrations -> Keys -> In-App Purchase. generate_jwt.js script: const jwt = require('jsonwebtoken'); const fs = require('fs'); const keyId = 'MY_KEY_ID'; const issuerId = 'MY_ISSUER_ID'; const privateKey = `-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY----- MY_SECRET_KEY -----END PRIVATE KEY-----`; // Define JWT headers and claims const token = jwt.sign({}, privateKey, { algorithm: 'ES256', expiresIn: '1h', issuer: issuerId, header: { alg: 'ES256', kid: keyId, }, audience: 'appstoreconnect-v1' }); console.log('JWT Token:', token); When I run a POST https://api.storekit.itunes.apple.com/inApps/v1/notifications/test request on postman with Bearer token authentication, I get a 401 Unauthorized error.

No notification sound when CarPlay is connected
We're building a taxi driver app. Our goal is simple: Play a notification sound when a new ride request arrives — even if the iPhone is connected to CarPlay. We use Firebase push with "sound": "default" and "interruption-level": "time-sensitive". The app requests .carPlay and uses a category with .allowInCarPlay. Everything works when CarPlay is disconnected — we get sound and banner. But when connected to CarPlay: the push is delivered silently, no sound is played (even on the phone), Siri Announce is enabled, but nothing is spoken. Questions: Is notification sound blocked when CarPlay is active, unless the app has CarPlay entitlement? Is Siri Announce the only way to notify the driver audibly in this case? Would getting a CarPlay entitlement (e.g. CarPlay.communication) fix this without building a full CarPlay UI? Thanks — all we need is a reliable sound alert when a new ride comes in.

UNNotificationRequest set timestamp to a relative time
The system calendar when showing a calendar event shows a relative timestamp on the notification versus all other apps which have a timestamp of when the notification was sent. Is there a way to set the timestamp to be relative? I am currently working on a calendar app and we should be able to use the same system that apple uses for its own calendar. Post about this on stack overflow from someone else a few years ago

Using notifyUserWithHaptic for Background Alarms in Standalone Watch App
I’m building a standalone Apple Watch smart alarm app that should trigger alarms on the watch in response to Bluetooth or internet events. This means the app operates in the background and attempts to trigger an alarm when such an event occurs. As far as I know, the appropriate API for this is WKExtendedRuntimeSession.notifyUserWithHaptic:repeatHandler. However, I can’t seem to start an extended runtime session while the app is in the background. I’m getting the following error: -[WKExtendedRuntimeSession _invalidationReasonAndDelegateCallbackErrorForError:outCallbackError:]:729: WKExtendedRuntimeSession hit internal error. Error Domain=com.apple.CarouselServices.SessionErrorDomain Code=17 "startSession cannot be called on a scheduled session" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=startSession cannot be called on a scheduled session} Calling notifyUserWithHaptic directly also similarly fails. It seems notifyUserWithHaptic is intended to be scheduled during a foreground session to trigger at a later time, rather than being called ad hoc from a background context. Is there any way to create a proper alarm view on the Apple Watch from a background execution context?

NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription only works for certain locales
I'm trying to provide custom localized descriptions for the iOS notification permission popup in my app, which supports multiple locales. To achieve this, I'm using InfoPlist.strings files per locale with the following keys: NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription NSUserTrackingUsageDescription The issue I'm facing is that NSUserTrackingUsageDescription is working correctly across all tested locales, but NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription only works for some locales. Locales tested: Working: ja, tr, fr-CA Not working: fr-BE, nl-BE In each case, the correct localized NSUserTrackingUsageDescription appears, but the NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription falls back to the default or does not appear as expected in fr-BE and nl-BE. I'm using Xcode 16 and testing on both iOS 18 simulator and physical devices, and the issue is consistent across both. Any insights on whether this is a known issue in iOS or if there are additional steps needed for NSUserNotificationsUsageDescription to localize properly would be greatly appreciated.

Generating and receiving token for Push Notifications stopped working
Hi, hope you're all doing well. I have a real brain-cracker here... Have been looking into this for the past 20 hours, but can't figure it out. We built an iPhone app that essentially functions as a shell around a PWA Web-App using WebView. The tricky part here to set things up was getting the Push Notifications to work. Eventually we got this working though (with help of Firebase), and the app has been working great for the past 7 months. Now, all of a sudden as it seems, when users first open up the app, there's no FCM token generated and passed on to the WebView instance running javascript. Or at least, the listening event ('push-token') no longer gets fired. Users who already have their FCM token generated and stored earlier on, receive push notifications without any issues. It's just that no new FCM tokens seem to be generated - or at least no longer passed to the WebView's javascript code. I know this for a fact as my tests turn out that the following event (present in my PWA Web-App JS code) no longer gets fired. Again, this worked fine before. I have NOT updated the native app since 6-7 months. `/* LISTEN FOR FCM (PUSH MESSAGES) TOKEN FROM NATIVE (IOS) SHELL: */ window.addEventListener('push-token', function(event) { //alert("Push Token registration event called from native shell"); if (event && event.detail) { var token = event.detail; window.fcmPushMessageToken = token; localStorage.setItem('fcmPushMessageToken', token); //alert("Received FCM token: " + token); registerDeviceForPushMessages(); } });` Hereé the part in my native iOS code that used to call this event from within the native iOS shell: func handleFCMToken(){ DispatchQueue.main.async(execute: { Messaging.messaging().token { token, error in if let error = error { print("Error fetching FCM registration token: \(error)") checkViewAndEvaluate(event: "push-token", detail: "ERROR GET TOKEN") } else if let token = token { print("FCM registration token: \(token)") checkViewAndEvaluate(event: "push-token", detail: "'\(token)'") } } }) } func checkViewAndEvaluate(event: String, detail: String) { if (!EPDriversApp2.WebView.isHidden && !EPDriversApp2.WebView.isLoading ) { DispatchQueue.main.async(execute: { EPDriversApp2.WebView.evaluateJavaScript("this.dispatchEvent(new CustomEvent('\(event)', { detail: \(detail) }))") }) } else { DispatchQueue.main.asyncAfter(deadline: .now() + 1.0) { checkViewAndEvaluate(event: event, detail: detail) } } } Again, I have not updated the native iOS app OR the WebApp's code. This just stopped functioning all of a sudden. One "weird" thing I noticed that there's no Provisiong Profile associated with the app. I'm not sure whether this was ever the case before, to be honest. Is this even mandatory? Can not having a Provisiong Profile associated with the app effect the ability of an already pusblished app for generating Push Notification tokens?

Case-ID: 14080335 Push notification requests to iOS devices using APNs (HTTP/2) time out
We are currently developing a WebAPI service that uses APNs (HTTP/2) to send push notifications to iOS devices. (Using PushSharp's HTTP/2 support) The WebAPI service is running on IIS using .net framework 4.8 and c#. The connection to APNs is always maintained, and the connection is checked every 30 minutes using a dummy token Ping. KeepAlivePeriod = 30 minutes and KeepAliveRetryPeriod = 10 seconds have also been set. However, the following issues are occurring. Although the Ping sent immediately before was successful, a TimeoutException occurs in the notification request sent a few minutes later. There is no explicit disconnection notification from APNs, and the connection appears to be silently disconnected. Once a TimeoutException occurs, it occurs frequently afterwards. Below is an excerpt from the log. Apple Notification Failed for some unknown reason 1-1: One or more errors occurred. Apple Notification Failed for some unknown reason 1-2:System.TimeoutException: The operation timed out. In light of this issue, I would like to be advised on the following two points. Are there any official specifications regarding the lifecycle and expiration date of APNs HTTP/2 connections? Even if pings are sent periodically, is there a timeout or other setting that disables the connection on the APNs side? What are the conditions that would cause APNs to silently terminate a connection? For example, could this be due to inactivity, TLS restrictions, network maintenance, etc.? If you have any official documentation or technical guidelines to improve the reliability of this system, we would appreciate it if you could share them with us. Thank you in advance.

Regarding the change of device tokens after an iOS update
In the app we are developing, we update the device token upon app launch using didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken. Previously, after an iOS major update, if the app was left without being launched, users experienced an issue where notifications would not be received. Later, we confirmed that running didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken during app launch updates the device token and restores the ability to receive notifications. Therefore, we believe that the device token may change due to an iOS major update. We want to understand the detailed conditions under which the device token is updated due to an iOS update: Does the same issue occur after iOS minor updates as well? Does it always happen during iOS major updates? We reviewed the official documentation, but there was no detailed description of the device token update conditions. Additionally, we contacted Apple, but received no clear answers. If anyone has experienced the same situation, we would appreciate any information you can share.

Is applicationIconBadgeNumber deprecated?
Our team had previously encountered deprecation warnings for applicationIconBadgeNumber, but while working with iOS 18.0.1 and Xcode version 16.1, I no longer see these warnings. Has the deprecation been reversed, or do we need to address it on our end? Please provide insights on whether the deprecation still applies, as there are no warnings in Xcode for that API and action items on the integrators.

Support Status and Specific Implementation Methods for ContactProviderExtension with NotificationServiceExtension
I am considering an implementation to provide OS Contacts information in real-time using data from push notifications. Through a TSI (Technical Support Incident), Apple Support recommended combining ContactProviderExtension and NotificationServiceExtension. However, the following threads indicate that this combination is not supported, as confirmed by Apple DTS (Thread 1, Thread 2). Question 1: Latest Support Status for Using ContactProviderExtension with NotificationServiceExtension Additionally, there is limited documentation on implementing ContactProviderExtension, and I am specifically struggling with the following points: Question 2: Specific Implementation Guidance for ContactProviderExtension The method to call when providing Contacts information to the OS How to add and delete Contacts information provided to the OS How to verify the Contacts information currently provided to the OS Any insights on the latest support status or specific implementation methods for these extensions would be greatly appreciated.

AW10 and iPhone 16 notifications not working while using CarPlay
I just switched back to Apple Watch from Garmin, and in the time away I got both work and personal vehicles with CarPlay. I've noticed that my AW10 does not get ANY notifications pushed to it while I am using CarPlay, which is annoying because only texts and calls get pushed to my CarPlay screen, so i miss everything else. Additionally, and this may be a bug issue with iOS18, but I also just noticed that my phone (16) does not light up/make sounds for notifications while using CarPlay - so it doesn't light up, nor do the vehicle speakers make sound with IG/snapchat/etc notifications, and even the screen "lock" sound doesn't audibly go off. I've only had CarPlay for a few months, but I typically keep my phone on Silent anyway, so maybe I'm just noticing this now and its not necessarily a new issue? it does make the sound when i get a text, so logically everything else should make a noise. I've made sure that my general focus and car focus modes are OFF. Sound is ON. Sound volume setting is all the way up. Have also restarted both phone and watch, and “forgot“ the phone from the vehicle and reconnected Am I doing something wrong here? is there a solution for either problem? From what I've seen, some people say that the AW not getting notifications at the same time as Carplay is a built-in safety feature, which most people do not want... maybe its the same with the phone not alerting to non-text/call notifications?

How to re-enable entitlements after App Transfer? (Location Push Service Extension)
Hi Apple team and fellow developers, We previously had Location Push Service Extension enabled and working in production. After transferring the app to a new Apple Developer team, the production App ID was transferred, but the Location Push entitlement was not retained. We've also created a new App ID for development, and now need Location Push access enabled for both the transferred production ID and the new development ID. We’ve already submitted the Location Push Access form with all relevant details. Unfortunately, the App Transfer documentation didn’t make it clear that Location Push access would be lost, and now we’re blocked from making new builds — even for the existing production app. ❓ Questions: Is it possible to re-enable Location Push for a transferred App ID? What’s the expected timeline for entitlement approval? Can Apple staff confirm the request status or let us know if any further action is needed? Thanks in advance — this entitlement is critical for our app’s functionality and release pipeline. Best, Aidar
