I am building an application using .NET and Avalonia UI. The application is cross-platform. One of the tasks of the application is to coordinate data collection that is then routed into a Docker container for analysis.
Everything works as expected in Windows. Everything works as expected in macOS on the development workstation and before packaging. After I package/codesign into a hardened runtime, I start seeing crashes at the moment when I try to execute the system calls to Docker.
I am reasonably confident that this has something to do with an entitlement flag or some other permissions issue. I have been trying to sort this on my own for a while. I am only hoping someone can nudge me in the right direction.

I keep getting this error when trying to install Audio app extension.
Everything is reviewed from certificates to profiles, for some reason
CreatingCustomAudioEffects sample is deployed correctly but when Creating new Project (Audio Extension App) from new project Option, it doesn't work at all.
If I remove Extension from Frameworks and deploy app, then no problem but then App crashes as extension is missing. Something wrong with Xcode? I am pretty sure it used to build new projects but not anymore.

We have an app that is a default mail client, so it has this entry in its entitlements file: com.apple.developer.mail-client. This seems to create issues with ad-hoc distribution.
We can distribute the app on App Store Connect without any issues and have been doing so for a while.
We wanted to try using Xcode Cloud to manage our releases. The app export works fine for both App Store Distribution and Development Distribution.
However, the ad-hoc distribution step fails. (We don't need ad-hoc distribution, but Xcode Cloud seems to prevent us from removing this step.)
I tried building and releasing the app locally for ad-hoc distribution and encountered the same error as on Xcode Cloud.
When Xcode tries to generate the profile, it outputs the following error:
Provisioning profile "iOS Team Ad Hoc Provisioning Profile: com.infomaniak.mail" failed qualification checks:
Profile doesn't support Default Mail App.
Profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.mail-client entitlement.
Is it something broken with our config ? What are we missing ?

My app is a Safari extension. When trying to validate the app, I get the following error:

I don't know why this is happening. I have app sandbox enabled in both the app and the extension target. I have both entitlement files. When executing codesign -d --entitlements :- /path/to/binary I get the following:

I'm new here, so please excuse my blunt question. I'm trying to understand how everything works and the logic behind it.
I have an idea for an app which requires the FamilyControl entitlement. Now I am not sure if the idea even works, so I wanted to test it on my own device.
Am I correct, that I cannot even test an App with such entitlements without paying for the ADP? Not even on my own device?
I completely understand I need to be a member in the ADP if I want to distribute my app, but I'm not there, yet, and I just want to do a proof-of-concept.
I thought I can't be the first one with that question, but couldn't find a past topic on this, so I'm posting it.

Hi, I have a .NET MAUI app which I've added subscriptions to using the Plugin.InAppBilling nuget package. When I tested on TestFlight I got an almost immediate crash. After doing some research I followed advice to add an Entitlements.plist file to Platforms > iOS with the following entry:
com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase
The distribution provisioning profile I'm using to sign my app has the App ID set to an Identifier which has "In-App Purchase" ticked, but greyed out in it's "Capabilities" section on https://developer.apple.com/. I'm not sure why it's ticked and greyed out, but I assume that means that "In-App Purchase" is enabled.
The app runs file locally but when I create an IPA file and add it to Transporter for upload to App Store Connect I get the following error:
"Validation failed (409)
Invalid Code Signing Entitlements. Your application bundle's signature contains code signing entitlements that are not supported on iOS. Specifically, key 'com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase' in 'Payload/[Removed].app/[Removed]' is not supported. (ID: [Removed])".
Here is the structure of my csproj code for creating a IPA file for iOS:

I’ve been stuck for weeks on an issue with Family Controls + Device Activity entitlements in my iOS app, and Apple Developer Support has not provided a solution so far. I’m hoping someone here who has successfully implemented Family Controls + Device Activity can point me in the right direction.
About the App
• The app is a Digital Wellbeing app called Breakloop.
• It lets users select apps they want to block, requires them to complete a positive affirmation before opening those apps, and can re-block apps after a set time (e.g., 10 minutes).
• This functionality exactly matches the purpose of Family Controls and Device Activity APIs.
What Works So Far
• Family Controls capability is enabled in the main app target in Xcode.
• We have valid Apple Developer certificates (Apple Development) and a team account.
• The main app builds and runs fine when using Family Controls alone.
• We have App IDs for:
• bl.Breakloop (main app)
• bl.Breakloop.BreakloopMonitorExtension
• bl.Breakloop.BreakloopShieldConfigurationExtension
The Problem
The provisioning profiles for the extension targets (BreakloopMonitorExtension and BreakloopShieldConfigurationExtension) do not include the com.apple.developer.device-activity entitlement even though:
• The App IDs in the Developer Portal have Family Controls (Development) enabled.
• The extensions have the correct entitlements file with both:
com.apple.developer.family-controls
com.apple.developer.device-activity
• Xcode Signing & Capabilities points to the correct provisioning profile + certificate.
Because the provisioning profiles don’t include the entitlement, the build fails with:
Provisioning profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.device-activity entitlement.
What Apple Support Said
Apple Support told me:
• “Family Controls grants access to Device Activity.”
• They cannot enable it manually or guarantee that profiles will include the entitlement.
• They sent links to the documentation but no further assistance.
What I Need Help With
1. Has anyone successfully built extensions using Family Controls + Device Activity?
2. Do I need to request any additional approval for Device Activity, or should it appear automatically once Family Controls is enabled?
3. Is there a known Xcode or Apple Developer Portal configuration issue that causes the entitlement to be missing in provisioning profiles?
4. Any working example of a project setup that uses Family Controls + Device Activity in extensions would be extremely helpful.

• We use the latest Xcode + iOS SDK.
• Tried recreating certificates, profiles, and App IDs multiple times.
• Followed Apple’s docs for Family Controls + Device Activity exactly.

We were recently approved for the "User Assigned Device Name" for a specific app Identifier. The "Additional Capabilities" tab isn't present on that App ID. I am an admin in the developer portal, and this does not appear for the account holder as well. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an audio unit which runs in FCP and I want it to launch a sandboxed app as a child process.
If I sign the child app with just "com.apple.security.app-sandbox" entitlement it crashes with SYSCALL_SET_PROFILE error.
According to the article referenced above: "This indicates that the process tried to setup its sandbox profile but that failed, in this case because it already has a sandbox profile."
This makes sense because audio units run in a sandboxed environment (in AUHostingService process).
So I added "com.apple.security.inherit" to the entitlements plist and now I get "Process is not in an inherited sandbox." error.
According to the article referenced above: "Another cause of a trap within _libsecinit_appsandbox is when a nonsandboxed process runs another program as a child process and that other program’s executable has the com.apple.security.app-sandbox and com.apple.security.inherit entitlements. That is, the child process wants to inherit its sandbox from its parent but there’s nothing to inherit."
And this doesn't make sense at all. The first error indicates the child process is trying to create a sandboxed environment within a parent sandboxed environment while the second error indicates there's no a parent sandboxed environment...
I specifically checked the child process has "com.apple.security.app-sandbox" and "com.apple.security.inherit" entitlements only.
If I remove all entitlements from the child process it launches and runs fine from the audio unit plugin. And if I remove "com.apple.security.inherit" but leave "com.apple.security.app-sandbox" I can successfully launch the app in standalone mode (in Finder).
For the testing puroses I use a simple Hello World desktop application generated by XCode (Obj-C).
Does anybody have an idea what can be the reason for such a weird behavior?
I've got a Flutter app that is a “reader” app. The External Link Account Entitlement has already been requested and granted. It is already added as an Additional Capability to the App ID. The com.apple.developer.storekit.external-link.account entitlement is already present in the .entitlements file. Also SKExternalLinkAccount key is added to the Info.plist file with the correct URL.
ExternalLinkAccount.open() is invoked via a MethodChannel call handler and things work perfectly in debug mode. The modal appears as expected and opens the link in the external browser.
Xcode archive is also sucessful and the entitlement seems to be in place when inspecting the app with:
codesign -d --entitlements :- ./path/to/app
But when trying to distribute the app via Xcode the entitlement disappears. Other entitlements are not affected by this issue, eg.: com.apple.developer.associated-domains for universal links. This happens with automatically managed singing and a manually selected provisioning profile as well. When inspecting the latter in Xcode the necessary capability and entitlement is included. But when distributing to App Store Connect the entitlement disappears with both recommended and custom settings.
I ran flutter clean mulitple times. What am I missing here?
On MacOS, I know that App Groups (com.apple.security.application-groups) do not require a provisioning profile.
I was wondering if it's possible to sign them "ad hoc" and have it work? So maybe use a random TEAMID prefix and have it work?
I would only need the app to work locally (for testing), not be distributed in that fashion, of course.

Hi, I am working on a personal HIDDriverKit project. The documentation suggests that you do not need the entitlements from Apple to do local development - that all you need to do is turn of SIP, enable developer mode, and turn signing to "Sign to Run Locally".
However, I have followed all of these steps, and am still running into the error that to build, I need to have a provisioning profile with the DriverKit (development) feature (MacOS 15.2 Xcode 16.2).
Am I missing something here regarding the steps for local development? Does one need to request a development version of the entitlements even for local development? Do I need a paid developer account to do this?

After signing and notarizing our application, the entitlement “com.apple.security.get-task-allow” is removed. However, we want this entitlement to remain and we want to be able to create a corefile when needed.
Is it possible to make the “com.apple.security.get-task-allow” entitlement persistent after signing and notarizing, so that our application can create a corefile?

May I ask what the reason is?
This is a continuation of my own old post that became inactive to regain traction. I am trying to resolve issues that arise when distributing a macOS app with a SysExt Network Extension (Packet Tunnel) outside the App Store using a Developer ID Certificate.
To directly distribute the app, I start with exporting the .app via Archive in Xcode.
After that, I create a new Developer ID provisioning profile for both the app and sysext and replace the embedded ones in the .app package.
After I have replaced the provisioning profiles and the have the entitlements files ready, I start signing the frameworks, sysext and parent app.

I went through all possible formats (macOS-Style and iOS-Style App Group IDs) and combinations of appgroups according to the post “App Groups: macOS vs iOS: Working Towards Harmony”. Hi everyone,
I’ve been struggling for days with a recurring issue in my iOS app build. The build fails with the following error:
Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.myapp.bundleid" doesn't include the com.apple.InAppPurchase entitlement.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
Created a new Bundle ID with correct capabilities (In-App Purchase, Push Notifications, Sign in with Apple).
Created a new provisioning profile manually from Apple Developer Console.
Used EAS CLI (Expo) and Xcode to regenerate all certificates and provisioning profiles.
Ensured that the In-App Purchase capability is enabled in the App ID (it's greyed out but enabled).
Made sure all subscriptions and products in App Store Connect are “Ready to Submit”.
Followed all steps from RevenueCat and Apple documentation.
Cleaned entitlements in .entitlements file and tried both and variations.
Tried building both locally and with EAS – same error every time.
Sent multiple tickets to Apple Developer Support, but no helpful reply yet.
Extra Notes:
I'm using react-native-purchases and RevenueCat, already integrated and working before this started.
The error began randomly; before that, I was able to build successfully with in-app purchases.
Even creating a completely fresh app from scratch results in the same entitlement missing error.
Has anyone faced this exact problem where the provisioning profile fails to include com.apple.InAppPurchase, even though everything is correctly set up?
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.
