I have an iPhone 14 running iOS 16.1 and my series 5 watch running watchOS 9.1. I was able to turn on Developer Mode on the phone by going to Settings--> Privacy & Security --> Developer Mode. On the watch however (I'm doing this directly on the watch and not on the watch app on the phone) once I'm in Privacy & Security, there is no option to select Developer Mode. How do I get my watch in Developer Mode in order to get a successful build in xCode?
I bought a new iPhone 16, iOS18 (22A3354). Data is synced from the old device. The old device has a certificate under Settings - General - "VPN & Device Management". The iPhone16 device is not synced to the certificate. After I manually added it on my iPhone16, I didn't find the certificate in Settings - General - About - certificate trust settings. I tried restarting and reimporting, it still doesn't work. Erase the iPhone and re-import the certificate, which is successfully trusted.
I tried another iPhone 15 device, upgraded to iOS18. After the certificate is imported, the certificate is successfully trusted.
The problem seems to be related to data synchronization to iOS18 devices.
Is this just a bug? Is there any solution?

When starting the iOS simulators on macOS-15 intel image, the following assertion happens: The same issue not showing for macOS 15-arm64 image. Here is the issue details: https://github.com/actions/runner-images/issues/10925 raised by multiple users.
AVPIdentity: AppleVirtualPlatformHostKey.mm:234: Assert: platformExpert, value: 0
AVPIdentity: AppleVirtualPlatformHostKey.mm:234: Failed to get AppleVirtualPlatformARMPE service.
The Simulators worked fine the day before the above issue was posted. What changed? Did something update?

hello developers,
First priority I couldn't find a proper title for the question :(
The reason why I open a topic here is not to find the answer by direct point shooting; My goal is what do Apple, Developer, Companies and Devops teams think and comments about the subject I'm going to ask here?
We use Jenkins as the Devops CI/CD tool at our company, and in Macos/Apple/iOS development, we use a lot of Mac Mini devices. Since we build/compilers on a project-based, version-based basis, we cannot get 100% efficiency from our devices. (For example, because the dependencies of a project are different from other projects; we dedicate only 1 Mac Mini to that project. (As the dependecys of the projects are too many and large, the migration process is very difficult for us, the cost of moving to a lower-level Mac Mini device is high / but this is just an example))
While researching, I saw that there is no docker container image for MacOs X (enterprise or legal) and I know about the Apple EULA. (For virtualization, Apple hardware must be used as a basis. Because the MacOs system is paid for on a device-based basis.)
What I want to ask here is can I find or create a MacOs docker container image legally?
How is the structure of other companies in their CI processes?
If I install MacOs with more than one VMware/VirtualBox on Mac Mini, What harm could it do me in Jenkins? (I'm curious about people's comments on this.)

I am getting the following warning printed in the console while my app is running
Invalid profile 'c2ci': tags 'gTRC' and 'desc' overlap
Console metadata specifies it comes from ColorSync at com.apple.colorSync
How to fix this? It prints a lot in the console.
Hello,
I'm checking to see if anyone else is experiencing an issue downloading the latest beta simulator.
When I try to download the iOS 26 beta 5 simulator in Xcode, the download fails instantly. There is no progress, just an immediate error with no message other than the code itself: DVTDownloadableErrorDomain Code: 41.
I've already restarted both Xcode and the Mac multiple times. I have also tried downloading on different networks to rule out a firewall issue.
In previous versions of the simulator, it was possible to import files into the Files app by dragging them from the Finder into the Simulator. It appears that in the iOS 26 Simulator, this opens the file in Safari.
I've only tried it with .json files so far.
The documentation at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/sharing-data-with-simulator says that the original behaviour should happen:
To add files to Simulator, select one or more files in Finder on your Mac, then click the Share button. Select Simulator from the share destination list. Choose the simulated device from the drop-down list. Simulator opens the Files app, and lets you select where to save the files.
I'd love to learn if this is intentional behaviour, and if so, what workarounds there might be. I use this pattern quite a lot, as I have a HealthKit app, and I've built a system that allows me to export workouts as JSON files from a real device, that I can then import into a simulator for testing.
Edit: I found a workaround. Make a folder in Files.app, then search for it within ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices. Open the folder in Finder, then add any files you want to be available in the Simulator.
I'm having issues supporting the brand new iPad Mini 7. No simulator and the actual device (just received) doesn't appear to be supported. So I can't test my SwiftUI apps on this new device. I can't even do a "Hello, world!" app. I get this:
The developer disk image could not be mounted on this device:
Error mounting image: 0xe800010f (kAMDMobileImageMounterPersonalizedBundleMissingVariantError: The bundle image is missing the requested variant for this device.)
When will this new device be supported? Or is there a work-around? Or is there an update?
Hi all,
I'm trying to add Spotlight support to a macOS app that handles custom virtual machine bundles with the .vpvm extension. I’ve followed the current documentation and used the modern CSImportExtension approach with a Spotlight Importer extension target.
Here’s what I’ve done:
App Info.plist:
Declared com.makeprog.vpvm as a UTI conforming to com.apple.package.
Registered it under UTExportedTypeDeclarations and CFBundleDocumentTypes.
Spotlight Importer Extension:
Added a new macOS target using the Spotlight Import Extension template.
Set the NSExtensionPointIdentifier to com.apple.spotlight.import.
Used CSSupportedContentTypes = com.makeprog.vpvm.
Implemented a minimal update(_ attributes:forFileAt:) method that sets displayName, title, and contentDescription.
Other steps:
Verified that the .appex is embedded under Contents/PlugIns/.
Confirmed it appears in mdimport -e output with correct UTI.
Used mdimport -m -d2 -t /path/to/file.vpvm, but I still get:
Imported '/path/to/file.vpvm' of type 'com.makeprog.vpvm' with no plugIn.
The extension is never invoked. I’ve also tried:
Ensuring the .vpvm file is a valid directory bundle.
Restarting Spotlight / rebuilding index.
Ensuring the app and extension are properly signed.
Tried installing the app in test virtual machine
Question:
Has anyone successfully used CSImportExtension for custom UTIs?
Is there something additional I need to do for the extension to be recognized and triggered?
Any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

So I ran a promo for my app that got me 30k downloads or so. The app was free for a day and so it got lots of "purchases". There were two errors from StoreKit2 that I can't explain (I'll detail the other one in another post)
This one:
StoreKit.StoreKitError.systemError(Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4097 "connection to service with pid 19497 named com.apple.storekitd" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=connection to service with pid 19497 named com.apple.storekitd}
There are various theories online that the display name of the purchase could be an issue.
Another was that this indicates that this indicates that a helper process has crashed.
Generally my guidance was to restart the device and that seemed to resolve it for most if not everyone. But not everyone reached out and it rained bad reviews and I was accused of a bait and switch and so on.
Is there any way to mitigate this? Any way to address it? It doesn't happen for everyone but it happens very frequently still.
I am new. I have never used Swift nor XCode or the CLI. But I have found and managed to test my App that I created for testing on my iPhone.
I have absolutely no intentions to put it on the App Store. I even made it Open-Source on GitHub.
I learned a lot of things and ways to prevent crashes, but unfortunately I am slowly starting to lose the ability to put my App on my iOS.
I am new here as a developer. But I have troubles to create a Developer Account, so I am not sure what I should do.
Here's what I think I am having issues with:
I feel like you can only create a Developer Account if you have a business, is this true?
I really find it cool to test my own App on my own phone. But I want to do it in an official way. But I don't know how.
Others have told me that you'd need a License for the App Store. But I am not trying to put it on the App Store, will this make it impossible for me to test my own app?
Why make an app if not putting it on the App Store?
You can learn. If you make good Apps or Libraries, you can provide them to other Developers! Maybe even an opportunity to collab with someone and even indeed put it on the App Store with a valid Developer Account.
Seriously, if I wouldn't have been able to test my iOS app through other ways on my iPhone, I'd have never been able to make a short breakdown about AVAudioEngine and AVAudioSession. I've seen people that have run into these crashes. I tried to look up for a fix, but found none.
I saw apps that allowed you to use a Microphone on a Laptop/PC and I decided to make my own one to test, and succeded, while I yet need to figure out a few crashes, I managed to do it, and I really want to continue and actually use my own App...
So I was really happy that I could make a post to provide a guide in hopes that it would help someone. And I would do more, but I really need help with figuring out how I can test my own app on my own phone.
I hope that Developer Relations can help with this.

We have universal links which takes user to various journeys in the app when user clicks on the link, however it works only when app is installed. If app is not installed link takes user to the App Store and when the user installs and opens the app, the link does not launch the intended deeplink flow.
Is there any way we can pass context to app store and receive it when user opens the app?
Android provides similar functionality using install referral lib. Checking if similar is possible in iOS.
Hi everyone,
usually i used to work on my xamarin application from a windows OS using Visual Studio application.
When testing IOS apps i used to connect to macbook that my boss has to my windows pc.
Nowdays i have a big problem while i try to publish an app. I select Release configuration, rebuild the project and in this case it asks me to login in with my Apple developer account but i always get an errore:
'There is an error while trying to access the auth service is not available'
Does anyone know a different way to publish an IOS app? I really do not know what to do.
This is my first time trying to publish an IOS app..

Hello,
I currently have a live application in the iOS App Store that needs an update to start functioning again, but I've lost the source code in a hard drive failure. Is there a way to reverse engineer the currently deployed package that is live (and also a way to download it from App Store Connect)⁉️
The development change itself is just a very small change for an API route in the code itself. I could even direct an engineer at Apple to make the change in 5 minutes!
Let me know if this is possible.
Thanks❗️
Hi,
I'm using the following command to extract information about the code coverage:
xcrun xcresulttool get --format json --path /some/path/to/xcresult
However, since Xcode 16 I get:
Error: This command is deprecated and will be removed in a future release, --legacy flag is required to use it.
But this message doesn't tell us what's the alternative to get the same result. Or are you just getting rid of useful functionality and there is no alternative?
Certainly! Below is a structured report you can use to submit to Apple Developer Support, Feedback Assistant, or share with the ad network for escalation. This report is tailored based on the logs and forensic analysis we’ve conducted.
Structured Report: SKAdNetwork Attribution Failures
Subject/Title:
Critical SKAdNetwork Attribution Failures (Bug Type: 237, Failure Type: 1201 in ASDErrorD
We are encountering repeated SKAdNetwork attribution failures (failureType: 1201 in ASDErrorDomain) for ad impression events processed through the ad network mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork. These failures are causing significant revenue losses, as ad impressions are not being properly attributed to installs.
The issue occurs across multiple campaigns and involves both SKAdNetwork API 3.0 and 4.0, suggesting a systemic problem with attribution validation or network communication.
This problem is critical as it disrupts advertisers’ ability to track conversions, optimize campaigns, and allocate budgets effectively.

Failure Details:
• Failure Type: 1201
• Failure Domain: ASDErrorDomain
• Ad Network ID: mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork
• API Versions Affected: 3.0, 4.0
• Timeframe of Failures: All logs occur within 2025-01-07 22:00:00 UTC to 23:00:00 UTC.
Environment:
• OS Version: iOS 18.2.1 (Build 22C161).
• Device Type: iPhone (hardwareFamily: iPhone).
• App Configuration: Includes the ad network ID in the Info.plist under SKAdNetworkItems.
Impact Details
Financial Loss:
• Based on failure rates, we estimate $20–$65/day per advertiser for small campaigns and $75–$375/day per advertiser for larger campaigns.
• If 100 advertisers are affected, daily losses range from $2,000–$37,500.
• Over a week, losses could exceed $70,000 to $262,500 or more.
2. Operational Impact:
• Advertisers cannot track installs or optimize campaigns, leading to inefficient ad spending and potential budget reallocation to other networks.
• Damaged trust between advertisers and the ad network.
3. Reputation Risk:
• Continued failures harm the credibility of the SKAdNetwork framework, critical in a post-ATT (App Tracking Transparency) ecosystem.
Steps to Reproduce
Serve an ad impression through the ad network mj797d8u6f.skadnetwork.
Monitor SKAdNetwork attribution for that impression.
Observe repeated failures (failureType: 1201) despite the resultType: finalized status.
Recommendations for Investigation
Attribution Timeout:
• Verify if these failures stem from delayed responses or missed attribution windows.
2. Ad Network Configuration:
• Confirm the ad network’s integration complies with SKAdNetwork API 3.0 and 4.0 requirements.
3. Infrastructure Review:
• Investigate potential bottlenecks or failures in Apple’s attribution servers (ASDErrorDomain) or communication delays.
