Hello. I examine App Store ReviewGuidelines - https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/ and subdivision item 5.1.1 Data Collection and Storage, item (vii) says that: (vii) SafariViewController must be used to visibly present information to users; the controller may not be hidden or obscured by other views or layers. Additionally, an app may not use SafariViewController to track users without their knowledge and consent. This rule applies only to SafariViewCntroller or to WKWebView too? I ask this because both have the same technology and used for the same things. Regards, Ihor.

The bottom div of buttons on my app don’t show on first loading up but then do when the app is swiped away and then reselected. Console log messages when app first loads are: 2021-02-01 10:55:11.982756+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] Apache Cordova native platform version 5.1.1 is starting. 2021-02-01 10:55:11.982849+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] Multi-tasking -> Device: YES, App: YES 2021-02-01 10:55:12.341036+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] WF: === Starting WebFilter logging for process SoundSleep 2021-02-01 10:55:12.341149+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] WF: userSettingsForUser mobile: { filterBlacklist = ( ); filterWhitelist = ( ); restrictWeb = 1; useContentFilter = 0; useContentFilterOverrides = 0; whitelistEnabled = 0; } 2021-02-01 10:55:12.341261+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] WF: WebFilterIsActive returning: NO 2021-02-01 10:55:12.392665+0000 SoundSleep[287:9375] WF: userSettingsForUser mobile: { filterBlacklist = ( ); filterWhitelist = ( ); restrictWeb = 1; useContentFilter = 0; useContentFilterOverrides = 0; whit
I am in the same situation! Built a news app and got rejected for the same reason. I am constantly explaining that it does not collect any user data and I get the same response in the resolution center every time: Hello, Thank you for your information. Regarding 5.1.1, we still found that your app provides services or requires sensitive user information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. To resolve this issue, your app must be published under a seller and company name of a recognized institution. For additional details, please refer to the update on the Apple Developer website about Ensuring the Credibility of Health & Safety Information. I am sure there is no real human reviewing these apps because I did not get any real reponse yet. It all looks very automated which makes it so frustrating

I have news app for a newspaper in Alaska. The app does not collect any information from the users. However, the app has been rejected by Apple to the following: Regarding the 5.1.1 issue, we found in our review that your app provides services or requires sensitive user information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the COVID-19 pandemic is a public health crisis, services and information related to it are considered to be part of the healthcare industry. In addition, the seller and company names associated with your app are not from a recognized institution, such as a governmental entity, hospital, insurance company, non-governmental organization, or university. I appealed the rejection stating that the news articles, are just that ... articles about COVID related to the newspaper's community. The articles are just plain information. No user data is collected, and none of the articles are opinion pieces ... The are just number of cases reported in the community, etc. The appeal was rejected wit
We noticed that your app requests the user’s consent to access the camera, but doesn’t sufficiently explain the use of the camera in the purpose string. To help users make informed decisions about how their data is used, all permission request alerts need to specify how your app will use the requested information. Next Steps Please revise the relevant purpose string in your app’s Info.plist file to specify why your app needs access to the user's camera. Make sure the purpose string includes an example of how the user's data will be used. You can modify your app's Info.plist file using the property list editor in Xcode. look it, how to do it ?

Hello , My app is already on the App Store, we are trying for version release this time but it got rejected during the last review. The reason from the review team is that - Guideline 1.4.1 - Safety - Physical Harm Guideline 2.1 - Information Needed In this version we have made only minor changes which are not related to our BLE devices. In this rejection cycle got first rejection because of apple review team not happy with the message which we have provided for NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription, and it is rejected by below reason, Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage After this we modified our Bluetooth description message and submitted for review, then apple again rejected with below reason. Guideline 1.4.1 - Safety - Physical Harm Guideline 2.1 - Information Needed We do not understand where is the problem and why the app was approved multiple times before and now not. Could you please help us for this.

I think the hard part about this is they don't give guidance on how to get around 5.1.1 - and it's arbitrary. So Apple can decide that (in your case) the geolocation saving / region selection to deliver magazines Doesn't require account access Even if the account is used to manage magazines. There are also not good examples of what is / is not covered by this. So in essence, you're at the whims of apple for the business decisions around your app. Good luck!

Hi, we have built an App which aprroval has been rejected because we ask to enter some registration personal data that is neccesary for some material gathering during a social event. There is a data gathering agreement screen where the users accept that data gathering. It seems this is not valid for Apple because they say we break 5.1.1 policy about collecting non essential data for the core functionality... we are considering to just require the user to enter his email in order to log in and we would supply a link to an external registration web page so that the users register themselves in that website, outside the App. Is it possible to require to be registered in an external website to be able to use an App? would that be allowed by Apple policies? Has anybody any similar experience with this kind of issue? Thank you very much!
Has anyone else experienced users being unable to reply to communications with them? If so, was there a solution? tldr; Email from our domain to users ####@privaterelay.appleid.com email works correctly. User replies to myemail_at_mydomain_com_####_8800cbcb@privaterelay.appleid.com fail. I have emails properly being sent and received to my Sign in with Apple users via the methods described here: https://help.apple.com/developer-account/?lang=en#/devf822fb8fc The issue is if a user replies to the email. They get an immediate notice that the email was undeliverable. According to the chart available within the docs, it seems like I should not have to configure the ability to receive replies. This should be handled by the relay server. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/sign_in_with_apple/sign_in_with_apple_js/communicating_using_the_private_email_relay_service Here's the failure email for reference (with private emails redacted of course) This is a system-generated message to inform you that your email co
Hi I have developed an iOS app with a Category Productivity, but Apple has rejected it because of Guideline 5.1.1 account-based. basically the app is to create recipes and groceries lists and you can share them with other users per Home. The connects to an API to save the data and the user needs an account to manage his data separated than the other users. also the app is totally free it's only require registration with name and email, I don't know why Apple asking me to show some free features before creating account since the app is totally free and no purchase required. this is the message from Apple: From Apple Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage We noticed that your app requires users to register or log in to access features that are not account-based. Next Steps To resolve this issue, please revise your app to let users freely access your app’s non account-based features. Ours is a video camera app. Our app displays the following prompt in Microphone Usage permission (Privacy - Microphone Usage Description):The app needs Microphone Access to record Audio But now Apple seems to be rejecting it. Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage We noticed that your app requests the user’s consent to access their microphone but does not clarify the use of the microphone in the applicable purpose string. Wondering what is not obvious here. A video recorder app needs microphone access to record audio, nothing more, nothing less! How do I fix it? It has been 8 years now and no such concern was raised before.
