Reply to Is there a scribble gesture for new line/return?
YES!, please add this feature. there are MANY situations where an app not expecting pen input can accept multiple lines. I would love to be able to use the apple pencil and scribble to enter text via scribble in these situations for example - entering text in markdown (in obsidian) or replying to a slack message, [or even entering a post in a developer.apple.com forum!]

Reply to Sidecar
I wouldn't over think it too much, Sidecar runs like a champ in my experience and the iPad Pro runs great with or without a cable hooked up. Apple did their homework very well building Sidecar. I can open Affinity Photo using Sidecar and use the Apple Pencil to edit photos like the application was built for pencil. I'd say even for a beta, its a pretty solid feature.

Reply to Apple Pencil support in Safari
Ok. Thanks for your reply. No 3D touch is actually fine. I just need to get regular touch (without pressure sensitivity) to work.Right now, when regular touch is used, nothing happens, as force is 0 (default) and hence detected as no pressure.Note that when using the Apple Pencil it can also return a force of 0. So I suspect this is valid. So either I have to 1) disable Pencil pressure sensitivity, or 2) Ignore regular touch. However, none of those options sound very appealing. So to rephrase: Is there any way to detect if a touch event is coming from regular touch or from the Apple Pencil, or better yet, if force is updated and accurate? Thanks a bunch.Best,-karma

Reply to Apple Pencil Pro Haptic Initiation
So, I think there are actually two different cases at play here: I'm afraid I haven't made my point clear, in the scenario described above the user is holding the pencil without it touching the screen at all, what I want is to trigger its haptic engine over-the-air in response to a finger touch (to compensate for the lack of a haptic engine in the iPad itself). It's been a very long time since I looked at this in detail, but I think there was actually some logic in the pencil itself that prevented it from vibrating when it wasn't in contact. Even in the other scenario, where both a finger and the pencil are touching the screen simultaneously, I can't get a finger touch to generate a buzz in the pencil. Only when I trigger the feedback from a pencil-generated touch does the pencil ever buzz. What did you try here? What I would expect to work here is generating view motion that moved to the point where the pencil was located, but it's possible we're

Reply to Is there a scribble gesture for new line/return?
I am also requesting a manual scribble new line request. It would be helpful to have a manual new line function to the apple pencil rather than some time automated feature. I would suggest scribble create a new line when the pencil is in eraser mode and the user makes a down and left arrow gesture (the symbol on a lot of keyboards for return) while not erasing anything.
