macOS VPN apps outside of the App Store
Apple is encouraging VPN apps on macOS to transition to Network Extension APIs, if they haven't done so yet, see: TN3165: Packet Filter is not API WWDC25: Filter and tunnel network traffic with NetworkExtension Using Network Extension is fine for VPN apps that are distributed via the Mac App Store. Users get one pop-up requesting permission to add VPN configurations and that's it. However, VPN apps that are distributed outside of the App Store (using Developer ID) cannot use Network Extension in the same way, such apps need to install a System Extension first (see TN3134: Network Extension provider deployment). Installing a System Extension is a very poor user experience. There is a pop-up informing about a system extension, which the user has to manually enable. The main button is OK, which only dismisses the pop-up and in such case there is little chance that the user will be able to find the correct place to enable the extension. The other button in that pop-up navigates to the correct screen in S

Reply to OnDemand VPN connection stuck in NO INTERNET
URL Session is calling a public endpoint.
Right, but you’ve set up your on-demand rules to say that everything generates demand. It’d be interesting to see what happens if you configure your on-demand rules to only generate demand what you load a URL that’s behind the VPN. I suspect it’ll work consistently, but if you find that’s not the case then that’d be an interesting datapoint.
It happens intermittently.
Fair enough. But that doesn’t really contradict the position I explained above. You’ve set yourself up for failure and that you only fail in some cases. That’s a win, right? (-: Seriously though, I don’t think I’m going to be able to help you further here. You are clearly exploring the limits of what’s possible. If you want to make the case that this should work, I recommend that you do that direct

Organization enrollment stuck, no response since Feb 6
I’m enrolling a small studio (EU, Slovakia) and the portal has been stuck on “Your enrollment is being processed”. I’m currently blocked from shipping builds via App Store Connect, and the lack of any accept/reject decision is starting to impact day-to-day work and planning. If an Apple Staff member can’t review the case details here, could you please route this to the enrollment verification team so they can provide a clear accept/reject decision on the passport photos already uploaded? Actions completed: Feb 3: Uploaded passport photos via the secure upload link following the requested photo requirements. Feb 6: Replied from the correct Apple Account email as instructed. Since Feb 6 there has been no confirmation whether the passport photos are accepted or rejected, and no next-step owner. I also submitted two separate support requests in the portal (email-only, no phone/chat option shown) and received no response. Request: Please confirm whether the passport photos are accepted or rejecte

IAP Purchase Fails During App Review – Circular Dependency Between App Approval and IAP Approval
Hello everyone, I’m facing an issue with In-App Purchases during App Review and would appreciate guidance from anyone who has encountered a similar situation. Context: New iOS/iPadOS app, first submission. One Non-Consumable In-App Purchase. IAP was created, fully configured, and submitted together with the app version. IAP status in App Store Connect: In Review. App includes Restore Purchase and uses standard StoreKit purchase flow. Paid Apps Agreement is accepted. Problem: During Apple’s review, when the reviewer taps the purchase button, a generic error appears: “Purchase failed. An error occurred, please try again.” Apple rejected the app under Guideline 2.1 – Performance – App Completeness, stating that the IAP shows a bug. What seems to be happening: The IAP itself is still in review and therefore not fully active, which causes the purchase attempt to fail. However, the app cannot be approved because the purchase fails, creating a circular dependency: App cannot be approved because IAP

Reply to Persistent Tokens for Keychain Unlock in Platform SSO
is it possible on the macOS login window?
That depends on what you mean by “it”: If you’re asking whether it’s possible to reuse infrastructure used by Platform SSO then the answer is “No.” If you’re asking whether it’s possible to create an authorisation plug-in that presents a completely passwordless experience, the answer is more nuanced. You can certainly make a lot of progress, but I don’t think there’s a complete solution. Sticking points involve FileVault, as I’ve mentioned above, and unlocking the keychain. This is especially problematic when it comes to the data protection keychain. Honestly, I don’t see a good path forward for this. The authorisation plug-in mechanism has significant issues, and I’m doubtful they’ll be addressed because of limitations in that architecture. Specifically, FileVault support is pretty critical and it’s hard to see how that can happen within the current design.
What are the consequences of using Xcode15?
There are a couple that spring to mind: Xcode 15 doesn’t include the iOS 26 SDK, so you won’t be able to use the latest iOS features. You won’t be able to test your submission properly, because it will ultimately be reviewed on Xcode 26. While Xcode is generally good about working with projects from older versions, the only way to be sure that it’ll work is to try it. Admin on Organization team but cannot access CIP
Hi all, I’m an Admin user in an Apple Developer Program (Organization) team, but I’m unable to access Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles (CIP) on developer.apple.com. I’d like to understand what permission is missing and where it should be enabled. Context Program type: Apple Developer Program (Organization) My role in App Store Connect: Admin I can access App Store Connect normally, but CIP resources on developer.apple.com are blocked. The Account Holder can access CIP normally. What I see (Problem) In the Apple Developer portal → Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, I get: “Access Unavailable — You currently don't have access to this membership resource. Contact your team's Account Holder or an Admin.” In Xcode → Settings → Accounts → Team, the “Certificates, Identifiers, & Profiles” section shows a red error indicator and doesn’t load. Only my account is affected; the Account Holder is not. What we’ve tried / confirmed Membership is active (renewal date is valid) S

Reply to App Store Connect API ProfileCreateRequest is missing template property
I’m not an expert on the App Store Connect API, but I can speak to this part of your question:
there is a possibility to set Entitlements, which is I understand also called as Template.
The entitlement template feature is very much an old school path. These days most access to managed entitlements is via additional capabilities. Like any other capability, you set these on your App ID and they flow through to every provisioning profile [1] you create for that App ID. These capabilities have a bunch of advantages, including Xcode integration, compatibility with automatic signing, and the ability to add any combination of the capabilities to a given profile. Given that, the template mechanism is largely deprecated. If you have existing templates you can request that they be migrated to additional capabilities. See Developer Account Help > Reference > Provisioning with capabilities > Migrating additional entitlements to capabilities. T

Reply to Notarization Stuck
You can expect that most uploads will be notarised quickly. Occasionally, some uploads are held for in-depth analysis and may take longer to complete. As you notarise your apps, the system will learn how to recognise them, and you should see fewer delays. For lots of additional info about notarisation, see Notarisation Resources. Specifically, it links to a Q&A with the notary service team that’s quite instructive. Reply to Timed-Wait for main thread
Whereas, with conditional variables, there are no warnings.
I wouldn’t read too much into that. These warnings have to be explicitly coded, and we added that code for Dispatch semaphores because that’s the most common offender here. It wouldn’t surprise me if we added a similar warning for pthread condition variables at some point in the future. Then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t. The pthreads API is relatively obscure.
What is the recommend way?
There isn’t a supported way to block the main thread of a GUI application for long periods of time. On macOS it will SPOD, which is a terrible user experience. On other platforms the app will likely end up being killed by the watchdog. And to be clear, the issue here isn’t about the specific APIs you’re using, it’s this overall design. Speaking of iOS and friends, app termination [1] behaves very differently
