Problem Specific to DuckDuckGo Browser on MacBook Pro
I had DuckDuckGo browser installed and working fine on my MacBook Pro for years. Currently DDG Verion 1.85.0, MBP M2 Max Sonoma 14.4.1 Up until two days ago everything worked fine. Then, while using DDG to access a Copyright.gov site a security alert popped up. Now, because I followed a link from an email from the copyright.gov office, I suspected it might be suspicious so I hit escape until it canceled the load and exited DDG. I used the browser successfully the rest of the day with no issues. The following day DDG would not open any websites I tried except two (google and duotrope.com) The next day, no website would open. The error message I received was "DuckDuckGo Can't Load This Page" and "The network connection was lost" There is no problem with my network. All email, other browsers, streaming services, everything works fine. But not DDG. I have reinstalled DDG several times, deleting any remaining DDG files I could fine, in between. I even tried it in safe mode and I rebooted the WiFi router. Still the same error. I've checked network settings, keychain permissions, antivirus permissions (I use intego) I cannot seem to figure out what could be causing the issue. I have another MacBook Pro with DDG installed and it works fine. I tried copying that one to this MBP and I get the same error. Hell, at this point I'd light incense candles and sacrifice a chicken if it would work. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing my issue?

Battery Consumption
We are developed app based on driver behaviour using location and sensor data. It's working in both background and foreground using region monitoring. Its consume more battery comparing other apps like. Its reduce 5% for every 5 to 10 mins of duration. We are using for our app functionality Location (Always) - every 1sec Sensor - Accelerometer - every 20data for 1sec Background - Region monitoring Time Action - 1sec for 20time Any possible way to reduce battery consuming? If any please suggest your points. Thanks in advance for your comments.

App Submission Rejected - Unable to replicate bug
Apple rejected my app store submission (first submission of this app) with the following comment: Issue Description: The app exhibited one or more bugs that would negatively impact App Store users. Bug description: The app opens to a black display Steps to reproduce bug: Launch app. Review device details: - Device type: iPhone 13 mini - OS version: iOS 17.4.1 Next Steps: Test the app on supported devices to identify and resolve bugs and stability issues before submitting for review. No other details given on specific scenarios. No logs provided. We asked for more info but they refused to help any further. I just so happen to have that exact device (iPhone 13 mini), so I updated it to the iOS version that was giving problems. But no matter what I do, I cannot replicate this bug. I tried via TestFlight and via Xcode, I tried deleting and reinstalling the app, and I tried restarting my phone between installs. I tried launching the app while on airplane mode. I never got this "app opens to a black display" issue. What else can I try to replicate this bug? The app is built with Unity 2021.3.19f1.

Accelerometer devices
I am writing a bachelor thesis and I have to know which accelerometer chip is used in iPhone 12, 14 and 15, but I cannot find any information regarding that. I found out in an article that the original iPhone uses LIS302DL, but iPhone 3G and 4 uses LIS331DL.

What's happening to my phone?
The model name of my iPhone is SE3, and the iOS version is 17.3.1. Also, I am using a Samsung laptop with Windows 11. I uploaded photos from my iPhone to my laptop using an 8-pin USB. But the photo folder address is strange. It's written in unknown Chinese. -> f䴀M* This is the file name. It says 0 bytes out of 257TB are available. My iPhone has 6 4GB. Do you know what file that is?

History and your help
Obviously I am a developer, I was also one back in the day with Borland when they came out with great alternatives to Microsoft! Back then we had two people in a garage trying to develop a tinkerer version of this revolutionary small version of a device to rival the big bucks vaz and huge mainframes. Prts were cheap, we didn’t have disk drives, just tapes. And in concert with someone with Apple in charlotte We d v loped a contacts database to be saved on tape. Then later with Borland I met with a developer to install the correct hp laser jet driver to print. I was main online Compuserve to support a programmable word processor which had its own language. then the Internet came, RjJ Reynolds donated multimultiple lIBM IPCs to our ham club, Grinos came out in C, so I modified it for packet radio across th the repeaters in NC. So I left law school and went working on an Apple //e at a local retailer. I’d replace power supplies and graphics chips for 16 and 64 k computers, occasionally the accountant who needed amore screen. All great but bills were just bareable at that income level. Like the Raspberry Pi’s of today (which I just created. again unfortunately my MacBook Pro 16” display developed a screen went south but plugging in an hdmi to close monitor works, almost. So I call Apple support send me to Greensboro Apple Genius Bar because I have AppleCare, but she continently forg ts to write that in her notes. So when I’m at the store, the do find an issue with my brand new iPhone 15 with AppleCare but I have no proof so they will fix my MacBook Pro. My main development machine. I just published a new apple book last month on it. im 66 now in impermanent housing trying to make myself worthwhile to the community, yet I can’t. I can at best submit a formal complaint to Apple and “hope it gets to the right channels” just like when the first Apple Music rollout deleted 4000 songs because they weren’t in iTunes Match. Apple sent two puzzled techs out for Pinkerton had thousands of followers, but not me. I got from executive support “ we don’t need user input”. And it’s now true: woz is gone, all feedback goes to a robot and the live people ”forget to write down crucial info”. so it all boils down to how will I learn swift with Xcode and use the 15 to upload to the Vision Pro (when I can afford it) when even the newest Mac beta was too big to fit on my MacBook Pro with moving files to the cloud.

MP3 works on simulator but not after I upload the build
Hello Everyone, I am having a problem here with my app. I developed a timer that play a sound .mp3 and the sound play every time that the timer start and finish. Everything works very well in the simulator but not on the devices after I distribute the build and install using the testflight. I saw the build content and the file is inside. However, I have no idea what I am doing wrong (if it is some option that i forgot to check or some problem in my code). Please, somebody can help me? Here is the func with the path. (I inserted the sound on the root) in the same place that we can find the Contentview. func playFinishSound() { guard let url = Bundle.main.url(forResource: "finish_sound", withExtension: "mp3") else { return } do { player = try AVAudioPlayer(contentsOf: url) player?.play() } catch { print("Error playing finish sound") } } } Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate. Antonio

Enabling a multipathServiceType in NWParameters on iOS 17.x+ breaks establishing peer to peer NWConnections
We've been using network framework for peer to peer connectivity since iOS 15. Since the introduction of iOS 17 we've been getting the following for our NWListener when attempting to establish a connection with any multipathServiceType enabled. We're not doing anything special here. On iOS 17.x devices (we've tested 17.1, 17.2, 17.4) we simply enable multipath services by adding the multipath capability and then setting multipathServiceType to .handover or .interactive on our NWParameters. The devices never connect when we try establish an NWConnection. This works on all non-iOS 17.x devices. This is reproducible using the Apple Peer-to-Peer NWConnection TicTacToe sample code.

nw_proto_tcp_route_init [C6:3] no mtu received
We have a relatively simple app that using Network.Framework, NWConnection, NWEndpoint to setup TCP connections with nearby devices also using the app. It's actually been working great for a while now but we've recently noticed with iOS 17.4/17.4.1 that we're spontaneously getting: nw_proto_tcp_route_init [C6:3] no mtu received sometimes the [C6:3] will be [C7:3] or another similar code. We may also occasionally see No route to Host appear in our console logs though this isn't definite. After this point the connection is effectively lost but we don't actually receive any updates on our NWConnection stateUpdateHandler to action on. It's sort of dead in the water so to speak. We've reproduced this issue with multiple devices on iOS 17.4.x and in multiple network settings (in office, cafe, home networks...etc). Nothing seems to make a difference. Any ideas on how to fix or workaround this? I saw a similar issue here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/669519 but the original author never followed up and it's around 3 years old. I've captured a sysdiagnose log and can submit an issue if it warrants filing a bug report.

Is There A CarTag Yet?
What I mean is an AirTag-type device that doesn't make noise so thieves can't detect it, but shoots you a text or alert if your car moves more than five feet after you have activated it. No one uses my car but me, so I know that if I get an alert that my car is moving, it's either being stolen or towed. Thanks!

Applications Quitting Quietly Overnight
I'm having mostly BBEdit (sometimes iTerm2) quit overnight and I can't find out why. I tried running a crontab to see if BBEdit was open every 15 minutes to find the time it was closing but it gave the wrong feedback. Anybody know how I can chase this up? The Console isn't showing anything relevant. Cheers

Ventura/Sonoma Silicon no signal when null dereference
Ventura 13.2.1 M1 Sonoma 14.2.1 M2 In my app I have a signal handler. When testing it with null-dereference I see that in previous MacOs versions like Monterey 12.0 x86 the signal handler is called. However, on my Silicon Ventura/Sonoma machines its not called. Tried with SIP enabled and disabled So I created a binary with code: #include <iostream> int main() { int *ptr = nullptr; std::cout << *ptr; // Dereference null pointer return 0; } Compiled it with: g++ null.cpp -o null.bin And executed it with and without sudo. The app indeed crashes because of the null dereference (and core dump is created when SIP disabled). However, no signal is recived. I am able to prove it with DTrace . DTrace script: #pragma D option quiet proc:::signal-send { @[execname, stringof(args[1]->pr_fname), args[2]] = count(); } END { printf("%20s %20s %12s %s\n", "SENDER", "RECIPIENT", "SIG", "COUNT"); printa("%20s %20s %12d %@d\n", @); } Here is the output. In the left terminal I executed the binary. In the right terminal the script output. On top of DTrace I created and MacOS endpoint-security app and subscribed to ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_SIGNAL. Same there, no signal. Did anything change with signals on M1/M2 MacOS 13.0 ?
