Transparent Material Turning into Occlusion Material
I am trying to create an object in immersive space that is partially transparent (~50% opacity). I have implemented this in a few different ways including creating a model entity and setting its opacity component to 0.5, and creating a custom material with blending set to a transparent opacity of 0.5. These both work partially, as they behaved as intended for many cases, but seemingly randomly would act like occlusion material and block any other immersive content behind them, showing the real world instead. Some notes: I am using RealityKit to render the semi-transparent object and an opaque object that is behind the semi-transparent object. I am using VisionOS 2.1, and am updating the location of the semi-transparent object often. Both objects are ModelEntities. I would appreciate any guidance on how to implement this. Please let me know if there are any other questions.

The folding and unfolding effect of the NBA sand table
Seeing this magical sand table, the unfolding and folding effects are similar to spreading out cards, which is very interesting. But I don't know how to achieve it. I want to see if there are any ways to achieve this effect and give some ideas. May I ask if this effect can be achieved under the existing API

Difference in ARKit plane detection from iPhone 8 to iPhone 15
I am developing an ARKit based application that requires plane detection of the tabletop at which the user is seated. Early testing was with an iPhone 8 and iPhone 8+. With those devices, ARKit rapidly detected the plane of the tabletop when it was only 8 to 10 inches away. Using iPhone 15 with the same code, it seems to require me to move the phone more like 15 to 16 inches away before detecting the plane of the table. This is an awkward motion for a user seated at a table. To validate that it was not necessarily a feature of my code, I determined that the same behavior results with Apple's sample AR Interaction application. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, have suggestions to improve the situation?

How to make a RealityKit `Entity` respond to Environment light
I am developing an visionos app. I load a .usdz file as a Reality Entity(such as a cabbage). And I want such an effect: When I turn on a desk lamp in real world near the Entity, the surface of the Entity will correctly respond to the light in the real world. I want an effect like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/virtualreality/comments/1as01mm/shiny_disco_ball_reflecting_my_room/ I look up the api such as ImageBasedLightComponent andVirtualEnvironmentProbeComponent in RealityKit、EnvironmentLightEstimationProvider in ARKit,but I do not know how to code. Besides, it will be better if the shadow will also respond to the light correctly.

RealityView Gestures for iOS
I started a new project using RealityKit and RealityView, intended as an AR app on iPhone and iPad, but eventually VisionOS as well. I'm challenged because I find much of the recent documentations, WWDC videos, etc, include features that are VisionOS only. Right now, I would simply like to create some gesture functionality that is similar to AR Quick Look defaults, meaning drag to reposition, two fingers to rotate or zoom. In the past, this would be implemented with something like: arView.installGestures([.all], for: entity) however, with RealityView I don't know how (or if possible) to access an ARView. In RealityKit, I have found this doc: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/transforming-realitykit-entities-with-gestures However, many of the features in that posting are VisionOS only, and I've found no good documentation on the topic that is specific or at least compatible with iOS. I know reverting to an ARView is an option, but I want to use RealityView if at all possible as I see it as more forward-looking.

Eye tracking data access for researchers in the medical field
Hello, esteemed tech developer. I am using the Apple Vision Pro to create an AR assist system about the da Vinci Surgical Robot in a medical surgical suite, and would like to capture eye movement data with tester uniformity. Although the Apple Vision Pro has a superb infrared sensor to monitor eye movement status, Apple does not seem to have open access officially. (I'm aware of many existing discussions about this, but I was still wondering if there might be an option, particularly for research labs.)Here's my FB number.FB16603687

ECS and array of gestures
Hi, I am creating an ECS. With this ECS I will need to register several DragGesture. Question: Is it possible to define DragGestures in ECS? If yes, how do we do that? If not, what is the best way to do that? Question: Is there a "gesture" method that takes an array of gestures as a parameter? I am interested in any information that can help me, if possible with an example of code. Regards Tof

Reality View argument type does not conform to protocol view
I'm working on creating a panorama view in AVP. When I got to this line of code Xcode says that "Type 'Entity' does not conform to protocol 'View'": private var realityView: RealityView! as well as this line, with the same error message: private func setupPanoramaScene(for content: RealityView.Content) What should I put as a argument for reality view? It doesn't work without arguments either.

Create Anchor on Objects from 2D Data
We're developing a VisionOS application, where we would like to do product recognition (like food items). We have enterprise entitlements and therefore also main camera access for VisionOS. We send this live camera frames to a trained CoreML model where we will receive 2D coordinates from the model detection prediction. Now, we would like to create a 3D anchor on the detected items so it can be visible for user. The 3D anchor is going to be the class name of the detected item. How do we transform this 2D coordinate from the model prediction to a 3D anchor?

Cast virtual light on real-world environments in VisionOS/RealityKit?
Hi everyone, I've been exploring an idea that involves using virtual light sources in VisionOS/RealityKit to interact with real-world objects. Specifically, I'd like to simulate a scenario where a virtual spotlight or other light source casts light or shadows onto real-world environments, creating the effect of virtual lighting interacting with physical surroundings. Is this currently feasible within VisionOS/RealityKit? Thank you!

Collision Detection Fails After Anchoring ModelEntity to Hand in VisionOS
I'm starting my journey in developing an immersive app for VisionOS. I've been making steady progress, but I've encountered a specific challenge that I haven't been able to resolve. I created two ModelEntity objects — a sphere and a cube — and added a DragGesture to the cube. When I drag the cube over the sphere, the two collide correctly, and the collision is logged in the console. So far, everything works as expected. However, when I try to anchor the cube to my hand, the collision stops working. It's as if the cube loses its ability to detect collisions once it's anchored. Any guidance or clarification on this behavior would be greatly appreciated. //  ImmersiveView.swift //  estudos_vision // //  Created by Lailan Rogerio Rodrigues Matos on 15/05/25. // import SwiftUI import RealityKit import RealityKitContent struct ImmersiveView: View { @Environment(AppModel.self) var appModel @State private var session: SpatialTrackingSession? @State private var box = ModelEntity() @State private var subs: [EventSubscription] = [] @State private var ballEntity: Entity? var body: some View { RealityView { content in // Load initial content from the RealityKit scene. if let immersiveContentEntity = try? await Entity(named: "Immersive", in: realityKitContentBundle) { content.add(immersiveContentEntity) } // Create and run a spatial tracking session. let session = SpatialTrackingSession() let configuration = SpatialTrackingSession.Configuration(tracking: [.hand]) _ = await session.run(configuration) self.session = session // Create a red box. let boxMesh = MeshResource.generateBox(size: 0.2) let material = SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: false) box = ModelEntity(mesh: boxMesh, materials: [material]) box.position.y += 0.15 // Position the box slightly above the origin. // Configure the box for user interaction and physics. box.components.set(InputTargetComponent(allowedInputTypes: .indirect)) // Make it interactive. box.generateCollisionShapes(recursive: false) // Generate collision shapes for physics. box.components.set(PhysicsBodyComponent( // Add physics behavior. massProperties: .default, material: .default, mode: .kinematic // Use kinematic mode so it can be moved by user interaction. )) box.components.set(GroundingShadowComponent(castsShadow: true)) // Add a shadow. //content.add(box) //commented out to add to hand anchor // Create a left hand anchor and add the box as a child. let handAnchor = AnchorEntity(.hand(.left, location: .palm), trackingMode: .continuous) handAnchor.addChild(box) content.add(handAnchor) // Add the hand anchor to the scene. // Create a sphere. let ball = ModelEntity(mesh: .generateSphere(radius: 0.15)) ball.position = [0.0, 1.5, -1.0] // Initial position of the ball. ball.generateCollisionShapes(recursive: false) // Add collision. ball.name = "Sphere" content.add(ball) ballEntity = ball // Subscribe to collision events between the box and other entities. let event = content.subscribe(to: CollisionEvents.Began.self, on: box) { ce in print("Collision between \(ce.entityA.name) and \(ce.entityB.name) occurred") //ce.entityA.removeFromParent() // removes the colliding object //ce.entityB.removeFromParent() } Task { subs.append(event) } } // Add a drag gesture to the box, allowing the user to move it. .gesture( DragGesture() .targetedToEntity(box) // Target the drag gesture to the box. .onChanged({ value in // Update the position of the box based on the drag gesture. box.position = value.convert(value.location3D, from: .local, to: box.parent!) }) ) } } #Preview(immersionStyle: .full) { ImmersiveView() .environment(AppModel()) }

How to Achieve Realistic Colors and Textures in LiDAR Scanning with Swift
Hello, I'm developing a LiDAR-based scanning app using Swift, where I can successfully perform scans and export the results as .obj files. My goal is to have the scan's colors and textures closely resemble real-world visuals as captured by the camera, similar to the results shown in this repository. In the referenced repository, the result is demonstrated with a single screenshot, but I want to display the textures and colors throughout the entire scanning process, not just at the final result. To clarify, I'm not focused on scanning individual objects but rather larger environments like rooms, houses, or outdoor spaces such as streets. Here’s what I’m aiming for: Realistic colors and textures that match what the camera sees during the scan. Continuous texture rendering during the scanning process, not just in the final exported model. Could anyone share guidance, sample code, or point me to relevant documentation to achieve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Image Anchoring Not Working Outside Reality Composer/Reality Composer Pro
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble with image anchoring when working on a project in Reality Composer and Reality Composer Pro. Here’s the issue: 1. What I’m Trying to Achieve: I want to create an AR scene where an object anchors to an image I provide. I don't want to create an app for this but just use the USDZ File the Scene creates. The USDZ File then should be viewable via the various integrations of AR Quick Look across the Apple Ecosystem. The image anchoring works perfectly when I preview the scene inside Reality Composer using AR mode. 2. The Problem: When I export the project (tried both USDZ and Reality formats) and open it on my iPhone using the Files app (which uses AR Quick Look), the image anchoring no longer works. The object doesn’t anchor to the provided image as expected. It just anchors to the first plane it recognizes and not the image. 3. What I’ve Tried: Exporting the scene in USDZ format. Exporting the scene in Reality format. Both formats result in the same issue: no image anchoring outside of the Reality Composer environment. Trying different images but all resulting in same manor that the image anchoring is not working Tried different iOS Version but resulting in the same issue 4. Current Setup: Reality Composer Pro version: 2.0 iPhone model: iPhone 13 Pro iOS version: 18.1. 5. What I Need Help With: Is there a way to ensure image anchoring works in exported files when opened via AR Quick Look? Do I need to configure something specific during the export process? Are there limitations in AR Quick Look that prevent image anchoring from functioning correctly? Do i need to create an app to make this work? I’d appreciate any advice or insights from the community. If anyone has experience with similar issues or knows of a workaround, please let me know! Thanks in advance, Mav

How to search location in global rather than in local?
I'm doing a weather app, users can search locations for getting weather, but the problem is, the results only shows locations in my country, not in global. For example, I'm in China, I can't search New York, it just shows nothing. Here's my code: @Observable class SearchPlaceManager: NSObject { var searchText: String = "" let searchCompleter = MKLocalSearchCompleter() var searchResults: [MKLocalSearchCompletion] = [] override init() { super.init() searchCompleter.resultTypes = .address searchCompleter.delegate = self } @MainActor func seachLocation() { if !searchText.isEmpty { searchCompleter.queryFragment = searchText } } } extension SearchPlaceManager: MKLocalSearchCompleterDelegate { func completerDidUpdateResults(_ completer: MKLocalSearchCompleter) { withAnimation { self.searchResults = completer.results } } } Also, I've tried to set searchCompleter.region = MKCoordinateRegion( center: CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: 0, longitude: 0), span: MKCoordinateSpan(latitudeDelta: 180, longitudeDelta: 360) ), but it doesn't work.

Independent gestures for multiple entities in RealityView
Hi, I'm developing an app for the Apple Vision Pro. Inside the app the user should be able to load objects from the web into the scene and then be able to move them around (dragging and rotating) via gestures. My question: I'm working with RealityKit and use RealityView.. I have no issues loading in one object and making it interactive by adding gestures to the entire RealityView via the .gestures() function. Also I succeeded in loading multiple objects into the scene. My problem is that I can't figure out how to add my gestures to multiple objects independently. I can't use Reality composer since I'm loading the objects dynamically into the scene. Using .gestures() doesn't work for multiple objects since every gesture needs to be targeted to a specific entity but I have multiple entities. I also tried defining a GestureComponent and adding it to every newly loaded entity but that doesn't seem to work as nothing happens, even though my gesture is targeted to every entity having my GestureComponent. I only found solutions that are not usable on Visionos / RealityView like installGestures. Also I tried following this guide: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/transforming-realitykit-entities-with-gestures But I feel like there are things missing and contradictory, like a extension of RealityView is mentioned but not shown and the guide states that we don't need to store the translation values for every entity and therefore creates a EntityGestureState.swift file to store these values but then it's not used and a GestureStateComponent is used instead that was never mentioned and contradicts what was just said about not storing values per entity because a new instance of it is created for every entity. Nevermind, following the guide didn't lead me to a working solution.

Debug Vision Pro application directly on physical device instead of the simulator
I have Mac mini M4 with 16GB memory, the Xcode is 16.1, when I test my Vision Pro App with the Simulator, it is very slow and system shows the memory is under the high pressure. How do I run/test/debug the application on Vision Pro directly? Tried to add my Vision Pro to my developer account, it didn't work due to cannot find UDID, when I hook the USB to the battery, it only shows Battery device ID.
