App usage

App usage data shows how people interact with your app after they install it. It helps you understand how many users opened your app, how many return to it over time, how many delete it, and whether the experience is stable and reliable.

This data helps you answer questions like: How many people are using my app on a daily or monthly basis? Are more people installing or deleting my app? How often is my app crashing?

To understand what percentage of users open your app in the days after installing it, see app retention.

Filters and Dimensions

You can apply filters to App Usage metrics to better understand who is using your app and under what conditions.

Common filters include:

  • App version See how usage or crashes change after a release and identify regressions.

  • Device Compare engagement timing across iPhone, iPad, and other devices.

  • Platform version Understand how OS versions impact usage and stability.

  • Region Identify geographic differences in engagement.

  • Date Analyze usage patterns over specific time ranges.

Privacy and data availability

App usage data is collected only from users who have agreed to share diagnostics and usage information with app developers. You can view opt-in rate history in App Analytics to understand what percentage of your users are contributing usage data and how opt-in trends affect data visibility.
