Filters and Dimensions

Filters and dimensions enable you to view your data by different categories, such as the source of your traffic, user device characteristics, and territory breakdowns. This allows you to dig deeper into your data to identify what might be driving performance.

  • Filters allow you to narrow your view to a specific subset of users or characteristics. For example, you can view downloads from users in the United States, impressions from iPhone devices, or revenue from a particular In-App Purchase. Filters help you focus on what matters most to your business — whether that's a country, platform, campaign, or custom product page.

  • Dimensions allow you to view your data by multiple attributes at the same time, enabling you to pinpoint the factors influencing your results. For example, viewing downloads by territory helps you see your performance for each individual territory at the same time.

Some dimensions are only applicable if certain app features are in use (similar to metrics visibility), and some dimensions only make sense for specific metrics.

You can filter each metric by various dimensions to dig deeper into your data—for example, viewing downloads by territory or narrowing your view to a specific device type. Learn more about the available metrics.

App Store

Available once you have at least five first-time downloads for your app, unless otherwise noted in the Feature adoption column.

App Download Date

The date when the user last downloaded or redownloaded the app from the App Store. Updates and app restores don't impact this date.

App Version

The version of your app displayed on the App Store. This option is only available for Usage metrics.

App Units, In-App Purchases, and Sales are based on the platform on which the app is downloaded from the App Store. Active in Last 30 Days, Product Page Views, Retention, and Sessions are based on the platform on which the app is used.

Note: iOS compatible apps can be purchased through iTunes on older devices.

Platform Version

The OS version on which the app was downloaded from the App Store or used. App Units, In-App Purchases, and Sales are based on the version on which the app is downloaded. Active in Last 30 Days, Product Page Views, Retention, and Sessions are based on the iOS version on which the app is used.

Product Page

Use this filter to view app metrics by a default or custom product page.

Custom Product Pages

Page Type

Available Page Types include:

  • Product page: A user downloaded your app from a default or custom product page

  • Store Sheet: A user downloaded your app from a store sheet enabled using StoreKit.

  • In-App Event: A user downloaded your app directly from an In-App Event card or In-App Event details page.

  • App Page: A user downloaded your app from a source that's neither an App Store product page nor a store sheet (for example, directly from App Store search results.)

In-App Event

The In-App Event card or detail page from which a user downloaded or redownloaded your app from the App Store.

In-App Events

Region

The App Store region in which purchases were made, based on the customer's billing address. Regions include:

  • US and Canada

  • Europe

  • Latin America and the Caribbean

  • Africa, the Middle East, and India

  • Asia Pacific

Territory

The App Store territory as determined by the customer's billing address.

Source Type

The source type from which a customer tapped a link to your App Store product page to view your app or download it for the first time. Use this filter to view metrics based on the source from which users are finding your app.

App Referrer

The app from which a customer tapped a link to your App Store product page to view it or download it for the first time. Filter by App Referrer to view a list of apps that referred users to your app's product page.

Web Referrer

The website from which a customer tapped a link to your App Store product page to view it or download it for the first time. Filter by Web Referrer to view a list of websites that referred users to your app's product page.

Campaign

Custom App Store links you can use in your marketing materials, websites, or advertising. Campaign links allow you to view your app sales, usage, and monetization for specific campaigns. Campaigns only display in Analytics after more than a day has passed since campaign launch and at least five App Units are attributed to the campaign.

Pre Orders

Filtering by Pre-Order allows you to view your sales, usage, and select download and App Store metrics that originated from a pre-order versus standard app downloads.

Refund Type

The type of refund, including Full, Partial, or Complete My Bundle.

Subscriptions

Available once your app has sold at least one subscription. Some dimensions are only enabled once you adopt additional features, for example the offer name, family sharing, and duration dimensions.
