Subscriptions

Auto-renewable subscriptions are In-App Purchases that provide ongoing access to content, features, or services in exchange for a recurring charge. Subscriptions renew automatically until a user cancels, and can include free trials, introductory offers, promotional offers, and multiple pricing durations, giving you flexibility in how access is granted and maintained over time.

Analytics in App Store Connect helps you understand the full subscription lifecycle, from trial starts to conversions, renewals, recoveries, and churn. You can also measure active plans, free trials, paid offers, conversions, renewals, involuntary churn, voluntary churn, and recoveries across all pricing states (such as full price, preserved price, and contingent price). These metrics help you evaluate acquisition, retention, and monetization in one place.

You can also leverage cohort analysis to measure payer conversion and long-term subscriber retention. Learn more about cohorts.

To export subscription data in bulk, use the Analytics reports in the App Store Analytics API. Subscription data appears in Analytics once your app has at least one active subscription product and subscriber.

View subscriptions data

  1. In Apps, select the app you want to view.

  2. Click the Analytics tab.

  3. In the sidebar under Monetization, click Subscriptions.

  4. The Subscriptions dashboard displays key performance metrics like Active Plans, Paid Plans, and Monthly Recurring Revenue. Below these, it presents Net Paid Plans alongside key subscription metrics such as Plan Starts, Conversion to Paid, Churn, and Paid to Offer. Use the drop down menu to view data for an individual subscription or subscription group.

  5. If you're managing numerous subscription products and prefer a table view over the visual dashboard, click 'View List' in the upper right corner. This action will display your subscription plans in a detailed table format, allowing for easy, side-by-side comparison of key metrics across all your offerings.

  6. For a more granular analysis of your data, navigate to the Metrics tab. Here, you can apply various filters, such as territory or device type
