Struggling With Guideline 4.3(b) Rejections – Would Love Dev Insight
Hey everyone, We recently submitted our new dating app, Rove Dating, and it’s been rejected under Guideline 4.3(b) — “Design: Spam.” I’d really appreciate your insights, especially from anyone who’s faced something similar or has experience getting nuanced apps approved in a saturated category. Before building Rove, we spoke to dozens of users of existing dating platforms. We consistently heard the same thing: people are deeply dissatisfied with current apps. They’re overwhelmed, burned out by swiping, and frustrated by endless choices and low-quality interactions. It became clear that the problem isn’t that there are “too many” dating apps — it’s that most aren’t adapting to how people actually want to date in 2025. We designed Rove to address those pain points head-on, with a totally different approach to matching, message limits, and emotional safety. We believe our app meaningfully improves the dating experience — but we’re having trouble getting that across in the review process. Below is the ex

Continous 4.3 (a) Spam rejection
I built an app which is a modern twist on a game called Reversi. My app is fundamentally different than the original game because it adds a different game dynamics (a point scoring version and a puzzle mode). Not to mention, it is free and ad-free for users. However, my app continues to get the same boiler plate rejection from Apple. I understand Apple wants to reduce the number of similar apps and also prevent spam, however it is disappointing they take no time to read my responses or provide more information on what the issue is. It's a disappointing experience as a developer, as all of the effort I've put into this app feels like a gamble with Apple as they don't take my submission seriously. Also, the app reviewers have not answered any of my questions through the mail. Unsure of how to continue. If Apple is going to reject an app merely on concept there should be a way to do that before someone spends the time finalising and polishing the game.

Reply to 4.3.0 Design: Spam
Thank you for your post. There are several factors that may contribute to an app not following App Review Guideline 4.3. Typically, these apps share a similar binary, metadata, and overall concept as apps already on the App Store, with only minor differences. If you have questions about App Review's review of your app, we recommend requesting an appointment with App Review during the bi-weekly Meet with Apple event. Sign in with your Developer ID and select App Review Appointment. A member of the App Review team will help you with your questions regarding the review process and the App Review Guidelines. Appointments are subject to availability during your local business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Reply to App Rejected (4.3.0 Design Spam) (I'm a iOs developer since 2009 and this is the first time)
There are several reasons for 4.3 rejection, some are not spam by itself but overcrowded category. b) Also avoid piling on to a category that is already saturated;… We will reject these apps unless they provide a unique, high-quality experience. Searching on the AppStore, one can see there are a lot of puzzle games. So may be that's just the reason. If so, have you arguments to convince reviewer that your app creates a unique, high-quality experience ?

See section 4.3 of the App Review Guidelines here: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#spam Whether Apple believes you’re submitting a too-similar app with minimal changes, or maybe the app category is too overrun? Or shorter, whether this is case 4.3(a) or case 4.3(b)?

Reply to A problem I'm going through
We are going through a same problem. We have spent about 1 year in developing our multiplayer card game. All the code is written from scratch by our team in unity. For design, we purchased some of the assets pack from unity asset store and we do have the licence to use them. We were very happy with the quality of our game and when we received this weird message (Guideline 4.3 - Design) from the App Store review team, all of us are in shock. So, is our hard work going in vain because we really can't change anything in our game and if we change anything, we will see bugs in our game and it becomes very hard to handle online games. We are feeling very helpless and our team are not able to work since we received this message. Please, if anyone can help us, that will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Got 4.3(a) rejection after switching from personal to organization account - same app
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a frustrating situation and could really use some advice from anyone who's been through something similar. So here's what happened: I built a VPN app and submitted it from my personal developer account a few months ago. It got rejected because apparently VPN apps need to be submitted under an organization account, not individual. I went ahead and created a new organization developer account, deleted the app from my personal account, and resubmitted the exact same app. Same code, same assets, everything identical - just from the new organization account. Now I keep getting 4.3(a) spam rejections. I'm pretty sure it's because Apple's system is flagging this as the same app from different accounts even though I legitimately needed to switch account types. I've tried explaining this in my appeal responses but they just keep sending back the same 4.3(a) rejection template. I'm starting to think the reviewers aren't even reading my explanations. Has anyone dealt with

My App Rejected 4.3 Design: Spam
Hello. Appstore is rejecting my app according to article 4.3. But the app is not a copy, what should I do in this case? It is useful to specify the details; I had previously registered with my personal account and the Appstore stated that unfortunately VPN applications are not accepted with a personal account. Then they told me to register with a company account and make this application from the company account. (When I sent the application for review on my personal account, there were only a few incorrect items and the most important reason why it was not accepted was that it was a personal account). Now we send the application for review with our company account, but as soon as it is put into in review mode, it is quickly rejected due to 4.3 spam. The app is not a copy but completely custom created. I don't know how to find a solution. Can you please help with the issue?

Repeated Rejection Due to Guideline 4.3(a) – Need Help Understanding the Issue
Hello everyone, We’re currently facing an issue with getting our app, approved in the App Store. The app keeps getting rejected under Guideline 4.3(a) with the explanation that it appears too similar in concept, binary, or metadata to other apps on the App Store. We’ve responded to Apple multiple times explaining that: -Our app is built from scratch with unique design and code. -We do not use any templates or prebuilt frameworks. -The app offers real-time support and a working, stable VPN connection. -Notifications are limited to rare, essential updates. -Metadata (title, description, keywords, screenshots) were crafted individually. -We’ve also thoroughly reviewed the App Review Guidelines, the Human -Interface Guidelines, and the Apple Developer Program License Agreement, and we believe our app fully complies. However, we continue to receive the same general rejection response, without specific feedback on what exactly needs to be changed. We’ve requested clarification from the App Review team, but

Seeking Clarity on App Rejection: Understanding Specific Issues with My Game Under Guideline 4.3(a)
Title: Seeking Clarity on App Rejection: Understanding Specific Issues with My Game Under Guideline 4.3(a) Message: Hello Apple Review Team, I recently received a rejection for my game Super Flappy Rocket under Guideline 4.3(a) regarding spam applications. I understand that flappy-style games might be a crowded category, but I've put significant effort into creating unique gameplay mechanics and visuals. I would appreciate more specific guidance on which aspects of my app triggered this rejection: Is it the core tap-to-navigate mechanic that's considered too similar to existing games? Are there specific visual elements or UI components that need differentiation? Would enhancing my existing unique features (gravity-flipping, spacecraft unlocking system, power-ups) be sufficient? Is the app's name Super Flappy Rocket part of the issue? I've developed this game from scratch without templates or purchased code, and I'm committed to making necessary changes to meet App Store guidelines. Any addit
