didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken() not called if requestAuthorization() is not called
If I run the following code in didFinishLaunchingWithOptions() UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .badge, .sound]) { granted, error in if granted { DispatchQueue.main.async { application.registerForRemoteNotifications() } } } Then the result is that didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken() gets called. However if I change the code to be just: DispatchQueue.main.async { application.registerForRemoteNotifications() } Or as as its already running on main in this scenario, then just application.registerForRemoteNotifications() Then didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken() does NOT get called, but also neither does didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError(). Obtaining a push token is supposed to be independent of the user granting notifications permissions, so why am I not observing that behavior? I only observe this behavior when running on hardware, when running on the simulator both forms of the code work. Yet its nothing to do with my phone not being able to contact the Apple servers etc. - if I change the code back and forth back and forth between the two then if 100% works when using requestAuthorization() and 100% doesn't when not using it. There's nothing additional or out of the ordinary with the code, its standard app delete template stuff. Why isn't it getting a push token when requestAuthorization() isn't used? (I've tried adding an async delay to calling registerForRemoteNotifications(), but it made no difference).

Help Setting Up Apple MDM Vendor-Signed CSR and Push Certificate
Hello, I have an Apple Developer Enterprise account, and Apple Support has already enabled MDM for my account. I successfully downloaded and installed my MDM Vendor Certificate (it shows up in Keychain as MDM Vendor: [My Company Name] with its private key). Here’s what I’ve done so far: Exported the Vendor Certificate + private key as a .p12, then converted to .pem and .key using OpenSSL. Generated an unsigned CSR with CN=com.apple.mgmt.External. using OpenSSL. Attempted to sign the CSR using: my Vendor certificate the Vendor private key Apple Worldwide Developer Relations (WWDR) intermediate certificate OpenSSL smime -sign command with DER output Problem: Every time I try to upload the vendor-signed CSR to the Apple Push Certificates Portal, I get an error (CSR rejected). Sometimes OpenSSL even fails with “unable to load certificates” depending on how the WWDR certificate is included. My Questions: What is the correct OpenSSL command and certificate chain Apple expects for signing the CSR? Do I need to include any additional intermediates besides WWDR? Is there an official Apple reference example for generating the vendor-signed CSR that the Push Certificates Portal will accept? Any guidance from the community (or someone who has successfully done this end-to-end) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Sergio Sanchez

Live Activity: no value in pushTokenUpdates and pushToStartTokenUpdates not called after app restart
When running application after installation I get a value in pushTokenUpdates and also the call to pushToStartTokenUpdates returns with the token value. But, if I kill the app and restart it again, there is no value in pushTokenUpdates and the call to pushToStartTokenUpdates does not return. Am I suppose to use the push to start token from the previous application run? is there a different solution?

Live Activity budget exceeded
When sending multiple push to start notifications to start a live activities in a short time frame, after around 10 pushes live activities are no longer being started. Device logs show the following entry: Push-to-start budget exceeded for com.att.tlv.myatt::pushToStart; not starting activity What can be done to be able to open more live activities via push-to-start in a short time frame (increase the push-to-start budget)? Can this be related to the development environment and it will not happen on production? NSSupportsLiveActivitiesFrequentUpdates is already set to YES

What is the purpose of the `alert` field for live activities payloads?
Does the alert only serve the following purposes: required for start events require for any event that needs to alert the user (with sound or having the live activity show in expanded presentation) while its content DO NOT matter. Only the presence of the field and its attributes matter. The only time its content matter are when the receiving device is an Apple Watch. Is that correct?

React Native iOS - Notification Service Extension Not Working
I've added a Notification Service Extension as a target to my React Native iOS app following Apple's official documentation. After completing all the setup steps as outlined in the documentation, the notification titles remain unchanged - notifications are arriving without any modifications, suggesting the extension isn't functioning properly.Testing Details: Sending notifications via Apple Push Notification Console Tested on iPhone 16 Pro Max (physical device) Tested on iPhone 15 Pro simulator Both show the same issue - no title modifications The extension appears to not be executing at all. Has anyone encountered similar issues with Notification Service Extensions in React Native projects, or can suggest troubleshooting steps to verify the extension is properly configured and running?

Significant increase in 410 "Unregistered" responses from APNs when sending push notifications.
We are observing a significant increase in 410 "Unregistered/ExpiredToken" responses from APNs when sending push notifications after 20 July. According to documentation, this indicates that the device token is no longer valid for the specified topic. However, the sudden spike raises questions about whether there have been any recent updates or changes to APNs' token invalidation logic. Could you please confirm: Whether there have been any recent updates in APNs behavior related to 410 responses? If there are best practices or recommendations for handling large volumes of token invalidations in order to detect uninstallations?

Unable to connect to APNS sandbox endpoint

What's the max duration for a live activity?
The docs are conflicting. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/activitykit/starting-and-updating-live-activities-with-activitykit-push-notifications#End-the-Live-Activity-with-a-custom-dismissal-date says: When you end a Live Activity, by default the Live Activity appears on the Lock Screen for up to four hours after it ends to allow people to glance at their phone to refer to the latest information. However here it says: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/activitykit/displaying-live-data-with-live-activities#Understand-constraints A Live Activity can be active for up to eight hours unless its app or a person ends it before this limit. After the eight-hour limit, the system automatically ends the Live Activity, and immediately removes it from the Dynamic Island. However, the Live Activity remains on the Lock Screen until a person removes it or for up to four additional hours before the system removes it — whichever comes first. As a result, a Live Activity remains on the Lock Screen for a maximum of 12 hours. So is it 4 hrs OR '8 for Dynamic Island vs 12 for Lock Screen'?

Live Activity doesn't update as frequently as it should
I'm developing an app which will show the driver ETA and rendering the progress bar of the current ETA. Intuitively the backend server sends the push notification every 3 seconds through firebase cloud message service to APNS so that the device can refresh the dynamic island smoothly. But the live activity doesn't refresh as frequently as the backend service does. It should refresh every 3 seconds but it turns out like refresh 30 ~ 60 seconds, sometimes it didn't refresh at all. any body facing the same?

Timestamp with 410 error code
Docs mention the following about the timestamp field returned by APNs: "The time, represented in milliseconds since Epoch, at which APNs confirmed the token was no longer valid for the topic. This key is included only when the error in the :status field is 410." We would like to clarify whether this timestamp is subject to the fuzzy schedule or whether it represent the accurate time of when APNs knew that the token became invalid? We understand that using 410 for tracking purposes is off label. However we still would like to have the most accurate information in regards to when token became invalid. This will help us debug user issues better in cases when they re-install, uninstall, change permission settings, etc.

PKPASS is updated but the client but push is not showing on the device
Good day) I am developing an application for generating PKPASS in Java. PKPASS itself is generated and installed on the device and updated. But I encountered a problem. When sending information about the update to the APNs service, PKPASS is updated, but the push notification is not shown on the device. On the device, all tooltypes are set to receive the update. As well as the basic settings: We go to the APNs service using = JWT token. "apns-push-type"= "alert" "apns-topic" = PassTypeIdentifier payload = {} I would also like to add that we send push notifications to the production environment. P. S. Six months ago, push notifications came
