Resolving a "Simulator runtime is not available" error
Some Macs recently received a macOS system update which disabled the simulator runtimes used by Xcode 15, including the simulators for iOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS. If your Mac received this update, you will receive the following error message and will be unable to use the simulator: The com.apple.CoreSimulator.SimRuntime.iOS-17-2 simulator runtime is not available. Domain: com.apple.CoreSimulator.SimError Code: 401 Failure Reason: runtime profile not found using "System" match policy Recovery Suggestion: Download the com.apple.CoreSimulator.SimRuntime.iOS-17-2 simulator runtime from the Xcode To resume using the simulator, please reboot your Mac. After rebooting, check Xcode Preferences → Platforms to ensure that the simulator runtime you would like to use is still installed. If it is missing, use the Get button to download it again. The Xcode 15.3 Release Notes are also updated with this information.

Upload Symbols Failed on Xcode 16
I am using GoogleMobileAds package dependencies and now when I want to archive and export an app I get this two warnings : Upload Symbols Failed The archive did not include a dSYM for the GoogleMobileAds.framework with the UUIDs [13B55A37-D103-36E1-8D7B-FA4EAB2C8146]. Ensure that the archive's dSYM folder includes a DWARF file for GoogleMobileAds.framework with the expected UUIDs. Upload Symbols Failed The archive did not include a dSYM for the UserMessagingPlatform.framework with the UUIDs [A3941120-02A1-30B5-8C28-BFC0F9496E16]. Ensure that the archive's dSYM folder includes a DWARF file for UserMessagingPlatform.framework with the expected UUIDs. I have updated the packages to 11.9.0 (lasted) and Xcode 16 to 16 RC (lasted also) and I would like to know how to fix this... With Xcode 15 I have no problem !! I can export with no warnings ! But now with Xcode 16 no... Thanks for helping !

empty dSYM file detected - Xcode 16
Hi, I recently updated to Xcode 16. Since then I successfully built my app and sent an update to the App Store. But suddenly, after an exception I've experienced while working on my code, the app is crashing on launch, without showing the stack trace, and showing only one warning in the console: warning: (arm64) /Users/myuser/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/myapp-bglvscamatwthwbfqmtzmbvxeewc/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator/myapp.app/MyApp empty dSYM file detected, dSYM was created with an executable with no debug info. Simulator causing Mac audio distortion
I am experiencing an issue where my Mac's speakers will crackle and pop when running an app on the Simulator or even when previewing SwiftUI with Live Preview. I am using a 16" MacBook Pro (i9) and I'm running Xcode 12.2 on Big Sur (11.0.1). Killing coreaudiod temporarily fixes the problem however this is not much of a solution. Is anyone else having this problem?

XCode does not recognize my iPhone
I'm trying to run my app on my iPhone and XCode is unable to detect it. Versions (as of time of writing, these are all the latest versions) XCode: 15.0.1 iOS: 17.1.2 macOS: Sonoma 14.1.2 What I've tried Updating all hardware to the latest versions. Restarting all hardware. Clearing cache/derived data. Using different USBC ports/cables. Using the XCode 15.1-Beta 3 (the latest beta) Clearing trusted computers and re-trusting Disabling Multipath Networking (solution for someone else on the dev forums) Creating a brand new xcode project. Disabling all wifi/bluetooth and reconnecting Using different wifi networks Calling mac support (they directed me back here) Scouring forums What happens I start by disconnecting my phone from my computer, clear trusted computers, restart xcode, and start (basically) from a completely blank slate. First I open XCode to my project. Then I connect my iPhone via USBC. I see that XCode says "iPhone not eligible while pairing in progress" (or something like that). I see on my phone that I must trust this computer, I hit trust, I enter my phone's passcode, then that disappears on my phone, and in XCode the message about eligibility disappears. I then click on the device selector to choose between either a simulator or a hardware device and under hardware I only see a message that says "No eligible devices connected to my mac". If I open the "Manage Run Destinations" organizer I see all the simulators there in the simulators tab, but when I go to the Devices tab, I see nothing. Sometimes when I go through this process, I can get a banner to appear up top, but still no device shows up on the left. The banner will show me that it is indeed my iPhone, but it will be missing information like "Serial Number" or "Capacity". Here's a screenshot of what I see. Keep in mind, this banner up top does not always show up when I go through this process. iPhone CAN be detected on my other laptop When I do this exact same thing on my other laptop, everything works just fine. Here are the specs I'm running on that laptop. (using the same cable/wifi network/etc) XCode 15.0.1 macOS: Ventura 13.6.1 iPhone 17.1.2 (I'm using the same iPhone) The only difference here being the macOS version. However, the problem started on my "broken" computer while I was running a previous major macOS version. This problem is actually what prompted my to do a system update to Sonoma. Please for the love of god, halp!!!

Building macOS apps with Xcode 26 on macOS 26 VM
I'm trying to setup a macOS 26 build environment in a VM (using UTM and the virtualization framework Apple provides). I have Xcode 26 installed and have logged into my Apple ID and verified that the team and other configuration looks fine in Xcode settings. When trying to build the macOS app, I see errors saying the VM's device ID has not been registered. I have confirmed that the device ID is registered both in the Provisioning portal AND the downloaded .provisionprofiles (in Library > Developer > Xcode > UserData). This problem appears on multiple targets (e.g. the main app and extensions). If I try to manually provision the app, using the Provisioning portal, I can build the product, but it will not launch because of Gatekeeper issues. Finally, signing to run locally doesn't work either. As the app launches, frameworks refuse to load because Team IDs don't match. With ad hoc provisioning, there are no Team IDs. I've come to the conclusion that this just isn't possible. Which is a shame because I need to support products with a build environment on macOS 15 and cannot move over to macOS 26 yet. I suspect many developers outside of Apple are in a similar position.

How to disable Temporary Tabs in Xcode?
It's maddening. I just opened a file and now it's gone because I had the audacity to open another file. I've learned that I can double click the tab of the first file to make it a permanent tab... but, of course, I'll need to do that every time I ever open any file ever, and if I close that file and come back to it later I'm going to be constantly having to double click tabs just to make Xcode stop replacing my tabs for me. It's nuts. It's driving me insane. Please. Is there any way to just DISABLE the temporary tabs behavior? I don't find it helpful in any way and I find it to be destructive to my development workflows.

Crash in URLSessionConfiguration init in Xcode 26.0 beta (17A5241e)
It's not yet fully clear why and when does this crash occur, but I'm creating this post so there's a centralized thread for this. Some hints collected so far: The crash is occurring for existing Xcode projects opened with new Xcode 26.0 beta (17A5241e); no one's been able to reproduce on a project created in Xcode 26. I even tried creating a project with Xcode 16.2 and open it in Xcode 26, but it's all working fine there (don't have older Xcode at the moment, to try with many versions) It crashes right at the line of code that initializes URLSessionConfiguration. If you call URLSession() without parameters (which is deprecated as of iOS 13), the session initializes without the crash. It's NOT occurring only for libraries installed through package manages. In a project where it crashes, one should be able to reproduce by adding URLSessionConfiguration.default as the first line in didFinishLaunchingWithOptions It crashes when running an app on an iOS 26 simulator. (I don't have a device running beta iOS 26 to test on it!) It's working fine when running the app on a simulator or a device running iOS 18 or older. Related issue on Firebase GitHub repo: https://github.com/firebase/firebase-ios-sdk/issues/14948 Sorry to not be able to provide more info at the moment. I wanted to report this so in case someone from Apple knows about it, we could at least get some feedback or workarounds, until fix is released -- and, to prevent us all from duplicating this report in repositories of each library, as this isn't related to libraries.

Xcode 13 "Missing package product" using local Swift Packages
I have a project I've been working off of for a few years now that makes use of local Swift Packages. In my workspace, I have a "Kit" project that generates a framework using several local Swift Packages as dependencies. In Xcode 12, the local Swift packages resolve correctly and compiles, but each beta of Xcode 13 gives me the error: "[ProjectName].xcodeproj Missing package product '[LocalSwiftPackage]'" Clearing the package cache, derived data, or restarting the application does not resolve the issue. Only Swift Packages that are remotely loaded from a URL are compiled correctly. Using local packages to separate module code, while still being able to edit in the same project, has been essential to my workflow and would hate to see Xcode 13 release with these breaking changes, and I have not seen this issue listed in the known issues for the Xcode 13 release notes. Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a workaround?

SwiftUI Gestures prevent scrolling with iOS 18
I added gesture support to my app that supports iOS 16 and 17 and have never had issues with it. However, when I compiled my app with Xcode 16 I immediately noticed a problem with the app when I ran it in the simulator. I couldn't scroll up or down. I figured out it’s because of my gesture support. My gesture support is pretty simple. let myDragGesture = DragGesture() .onChanged { gesture in self.offset = gesture.translation } .onEnded { _ in if self.offset.width > threshold { ...some logic } else if self.offset.width < -threshold { ...some other logic } logitUI.debug("drag gesture width was \(self.offset.width)") self.offset = .zero } If I pass nil to .gesture instead of myDragGesture then scrolling starts working again. Here’s some example output when I’m trying to scroll down. These messages do NOT appear when I run my app on an iOS 16/17 simulator with Xcode 15. drag gesture width was 5.333328 drag gesture width was -15.333344 drag gesture width was -3.000000 drag gesture width was -24.333328 drag gesture width was -30.666656 I opened FB14205678 about this.

Xcode seems not compatible with the ssh key RSA-SHA2 while trying to git clone from Azure
Since a few days, I'm trying to fetch our private SPM repo hosted on Azure via Xcode but without success. Actually they now accept only ssh key RSA-SHA2-256 or RSA-SHA2-512. So I created a new SSH key, but it seems the problem persists when I try to fetch spm repo or git clone via xcode: "You’re using ssh-rsa that is about to be deprecated and your request has been blocked intentionally. Any SSH session using SSH-RSA is subject to brown out (failure during random time periods). Please use rsa-sha2-256 or rsa-sha2-512 instead. For more details see aka.ms/ado-ssh-rsa-deprecation. remote: ERROR_SSH_UNSUPPORTED_CIPHER (7) (-20)" Even so I'm choosing the good new ssh key, it seems Xcode is sending wrong information about the new generated ssh key. Anyone is experiencing the same here?

App crashes on launch for iOS 12 users after App Store release (Xcode 16.4) — BKSProcessErrorDomain bootstrap-failed
Hi everyone, I'm building an app in Xcode 16.4 with a minimum deployment target of iOS 12. The last time I built with this configuration was November 2025 — that build worked perfectly fine. I'm aware that builds from Xcode 16.4 will no longer be accepted by Apple after April 28, 2026, so I decided to push one final update before that deadline. Here's what I did: Built the app with no changes to build settings Uploaded to TestFlight Tested on iOS 12, iOS 26, and a few other versions — everything looked good Passed App Review Published to the App Store Now users on iOS 12 are reporting that the app crashes immediately on launch. Users on iOS 13-26 are unaffected. We've effectively lost a significant portion of our users overnight. We'd really like to restore functionality for them before April 28 — after that we plan to raise the minimum deployment target anyway. There are no crash logs available, as the app appears to never reach application code at all. Below are the relevant logs from Console.app: default 16:33:49.012231+0400 SpringBoard Bootstrapping MY_BUNDLE_ID with intent foreground-interactive error 16:33:49.021533+0400 SpringBoard [MY_BUNDLE_ID] Bootstrap failed with error: <NSError: 0x280f59aa0; domain: BKSProcessErrorDomain; code: 1 (bootstrap-failed); reason: "Failed to start job"> error 16:33:49.021748+0400 SpringBoard Bootstrapping failed for <FBApplicationProcess: 0x101cb4070; MY_BUNDLE_ID; pid: -1> with error: Error Domain=BKSProcessErrorDomain Code=1 "Unable to bootstrap process with bundleID MY_BUNDLE_ID" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Unable to bootstrap process with bundleID MY_BUNDLE_ID, BKSProcessExitReason=0, NSLocalizedFailureReason=Failed to start job, NSUnderlyingError=0x280f58780 {Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=3 "No such process" UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=The process failed to exec, NSLocalizedRecoverySuggestion=Consult /var/log/com.apple.xpc.launchd/launchd.log for more information, NSLocalizedDescription=Unable to get valid task name port right for pid 241}}, BSErrorCodeDescription=bootstrap-failed} default 16:33:49.021934+0400 SpringBoard Adding: <FBApplicationProcess: 0x101cb4070; MY_BUNDLE_ID; pid: -1> default 16:33:49.022111+0400 SpringBoard <FBApplicationProcess: 0x101cb4070; MY_BUNDLE_ID; pid: -1> exited. default 16:33:49.023325+0400 SpringBoard Removing: <FBApplicationProcess: 0x101cb4070; MY_BUNDLE_ID; pid: -1> default 16:33:49.039576+0400 assertiond Submitting new job for "MY_BUNDLE_ID" on behalf of <BKProcess: 0x100d119f0; SpringBoard; com.apple.springboard; pid: 48; agency: SystemShell; visibility: foreground; task: running> default 16:33:49.039982+0400 assertiond Submitted job with label: UIKitApplication:MY_BUNDLE_ID[0xed03][58] error 16:33:49.040128+0400 assertiond Unable to obtain a task name port right for pid 241: (os/kern) failure (0x5) error 16:33:49.040286+0400 assertiond Failed to start job with error <NSError: 0x100c3f180; domain: NSPOSIXErrorDomain; code: 3; reason: "The process failed to exec"> { description = "Unable to get valid task name port right for pid 241"; failureReason = "The process failed to exec"; recoverySuggestion = "Consult /var/log/com.apple.xpc.launchd/launchd.log for more information"; Has anyone encountered this recently? Xcode 26.4 rc
Since 26.4 beta 3 I've been having errors after a few hours of using Claude Agent. I get an error stating that I am not authed. If I go into Xcode settings, it still shows I am signed into Claude Agent. I have click sign out and then go through the whole auth process again to start using the agent again. This is on two separate computers. Is there anything I can do to stop this behaviour and stay logged in for longer? It worked fine in 26.3.

Apple watch Xcode pairing & connection issues
I’m blocked debugging a watchOS app on a physical Apple Watch. The iPhone connects to Xcode normally (wired), but the Watch either fails to connect with a tunnel timeout or disappears entirely from Xcode after I unpaired it inside Devices & Simulators. Environment Mac: macOS 26.x (Apple Silicon Mac) Xcode: 26.2 iPhone: iOS 26.1 Apple Watch Ultra: watchOS 26.2 (build 23S303) Connection: iPhone connected to Mac via USB (trusted). Watch paired to iPhone and working normally in the Watch app. Issue A (when Watch is visible in Xcode) In Xcode → Window → Devices and Simulators, the Watch shows up but is not usable and fails to connect. Error: “Previous preparation error: A connection to this device could not be established.” “Timed out while attempting to establish tunnel using negotiated network parameters.” In some attempts the Watch shows “Capacity: Unknown” / limited details, and then fails during preparation. Issue B (after unpairing Watch in Xcode only) I unpaired/removed the Watch in Xcode (Devices & Simulators). I did not unpair the Watch from the iPhone. Now: iPhone appears in Xcode and works normally for builds. Watch is still paired to the iPhone and works normally. Watch no longer appears anywhere in Xcode Devices & Simulators (no paired watch section, no watch run destination). What I’ve tried Reboots of Mac, iPhone, Watch (multiple times) Watch unlocked, awake; iPhone unlocked and close to Watch Verified Watch is paired and connected in iPhone Watch app Developer Mode enabled on iPhone and Watch Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ON (Mac/iPhone/Watch), tried toggling both Tried on home Wi-Fi and also with iPhone hotspot (same result) Resetting trust prompts / reconnecting iPhone via USB, re-trusting Mac Apple Watch: “Clear Trusted Computers” Xcode: removing/re-adding devices; clearing derived data; restarting Xcode Watch Developer networking test: Responsiveness = Medium (430 RPM) Questions 1. Is this a known issue/regression with Xcode 26.2 + watchOS 26.2 tunneling (CoreDevice / devicectl)? 2. Is there an Apple-supported way to force Xcode to re-discover a paired Watch after it was removed from Xcode Devices & Simulators (without unpairing the Watch from the iPhone)? 3. Any recommended logs or diagnostic steps I should collect (Console logs, sysdiagnose, specific Xcode/CoreDevice logs) to include in a Feedback report? If helpful, I can provide the full error text from Xcode’s Devices window and any logs you recommend. Thank you in advance,

However, the problem started on my "broken" computer while I was running a previous major macOS version. This problem is actually what prompted my to do a system update to Sonoma. Please for the love of god, halp!!!

Hi, i have met error below when i tried to po one attributes of an instance in my Xcode lldb: error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename "$xxxxx" was not found (cached) error: Couldn't realize Swift AST type of self. Can’t paste into Simulator after updating to Xcode 26.4
After updating to Xcode 26.4 (public release), I’m no longer able to paste from the Mac clipboard into the Simulator. Automatically Sync Pasteboard is on, and I have content on the clipboard, but paste doesn’t work—Cmd+V does nothing, and there’s no Paste option in the context menu. Is anyone else seeing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I tried rebuilding from scratch without any code changes and uploading a fresh build to TestFlight — but now it won't even launch from TestFlight on iOS 12.
