Widget not showing in "Widget Gallery"
Our app's widget often doesn't show up in the "Widget Gallery". Lots of our users complain about this issue. They can't see the widget in widget gallery after opening the app. In some cases, the widget does not appear in the widget gallery even after turning the phone off and on. I saw in another question that this is a bug. This bug will be fixed someday, but is there anything we can do before that?

DeviceActivityReport inconsistencies
Hello, I want to echo the DeviceActivityReport "concurrency" problems flagged in https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/720549, and ask a related question. (Thanks to Kmart and other Apple dev support folks who have been monitoring these forums and responding diligently.) I would like to display daily and weekly stats in the same view, broken down by specific apps (as in the native Screen Time). However, instantiating multiple DeviceActivityReport objects with different filters and/or different contexts leads to confusion, where the two views will incorrectly and intermittently swap data or duplicate data where it shouldn't (seemingly upon some interval when the extension provides fresh data). There isn't documentation on how to display multiple reports at once. Is the idea that logic for multiple reports should be embedded within the extension itself in the makeConfiguration() function and there should only be a single DeviceActivityReport in the main App, or is this a bug? Even with a single DeviceActivityReport, I run into inconsistencies where the View provided by the extension takes multiple seconds to load or fails to load altogether. The behavior seems random...I will build the application with the same code multiple times and see different behavior each time. Finally, a plug for better support in the Simulator for the entire set of Screen Time APIs. Thanks!

Unable to get product from storekit in productRequest method.
We’re encountering a problem with StoreKit in the sandbox environment. During an SKProductsRequest, some or all of the product identifiers provided are being returned in the invalidProductIdentifiers array of the SKProductsResponse, despite being valid and already approved. This behavior began occurring since last 2 days only and appears to be intermittent—in some cases, a product identifier that initially fails will succeed after one or two retries, without any changes on our end. What we've verified: All product identifiers are correctly configured and approved in App Store Connect. No recent changes have been made to our product configuration. The same product identifiers have previously worked without issue. We would appreciate any assistance in identifying the root cause of this behavior. Please also let us know if there is a known issue currently affecting StoreKit sandbox services. Thank you for your support.

NSPersistentCloudKitContainer - Import failed with error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4864
The NSPersistentCloudKitContainer synchronization between core data and iCloud was working fine with phone 15.1. Connected a new iPhone iOS 15.5, it gives error: CoreData: debug: CoreData+CloudKit: -[NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate managedObjectContextSaved:](2504): <NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate: 0x28198c000>: Observed context save: <NSPersistentStoreCoordinator: 0x2809c9420> - <NSManagedObjectContext: 0x2819ad520> 2022-12-05 13:32:28.377000-0600 r2nr[340:6373] [error] error: CoreData+CloudKit: -[NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate _importFinishedWithResult:importer:](1245): <PFCloudKitImporter: 0x2837dd740>: Import failed with error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4864 "*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: incomprehensible archive (0x53, 0x6f, 0x6d, 0x65, 0x20, 0x65, 0x78, 0x61)" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: incomprehensible archive (0x53, 0x6f, 0x6d, 0x65, 0x20, 0x65, 0x78, 0x61)} CoreData: error: CoreData+CloudKit: -[NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate _importFinishedWithResult:importer:](1245): <PFCloudKitImporter: 0x2837dd740>: Import failed with error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4864 "*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: incomprehensible archive (0x53, 0x6f, 0x6d, 0x65, 0x20, 0x65, 0x78, 0x61)" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: incomprehensible archive (0x53, 0x6f, 0x6d, 0x65, 0x20, 0x65, 0x78, 0x61)} I go back and try with my old iPhone iOS 15.1, gives same error.

SwiftData does not work on a background Task even inside a custom ModelActor.
I have created an actor for the ModelContainer, in order to perform a data load when starting the app in the background. For this I have conformed to the ModelActor protocol and created the necessary elements, even preparing for test data. Then I create a function of type async throws to perform the database loading processes and everything works fine, in that the data is loaded and when loaded it is displayed reactively. actor Container: ModelActor { nonisolated let modelContainer: ModelContainer nonisolated let modelExecutor: ModelExecutor static let modelContainer: ModelContainer = { do { return try ModelContainer(for: Empleados.self) } catch { fatalError() } }() let context: ModelContext init(container: ModelContainer = Container.modelContainer) { self.modelContainer = container let context = ModelContext(modelContainer) self.modelExecutor = DefaultSerialModelExecutor(modelContext: context) self.context = context Task { do { try await loadData() } catch { print("Error en la carga \(error)") } } } } The problem is that, in spite of doing the load inside a Task and that there is no problem, when starting the app it stops responding the UI while loading to the user interactions. Which gives me to understand that actually the task that should be in a background thread is running somehow over the MainActor. As I have my own API that will provide the information to my app and refresh it at each startup or even send them in Batch when the internet connection is lost and comes back, I don't want the user to be continuously noticing that the app stops because it is performing a heavy process that is not really running in the background. Tested and compiled on Xcode 15 beta 7. I made a Feedback for this: FB13038621. Thanks Julio César

“Account Not In This Store” error when trying to purchase non-consumable IAP within TestFlight
I have simple non-consumable IAPs set up for an app on macOS. Testing in development with a local .storekit configuration file, everything works as expected. Testing in development with a remote Sandbox, everything also seems to work fine. Product names and prices fetch correctly, I am able to make purchases with a Sandbox account (both US and UK). Once I upload a build into TestFlight, IAPs no longer work. The tester would download the Beta app from TestFlight. They open a license manager and can see all the product names, descriptions and prices are pulled from Apple servers correctly (with the correct local currency as well!). So far so good. When trying to purchase any of the IAP, the following error appears: This is TestFlight so testers are using their real Apple ID. My understanding is that they should continue using their production credentials and a TestFlight Sandbox would be configured behind the scenes automatically. This error always says the users cannot purchase from a US store and must switch to [whatever user’s actual store location is] store. For example, my account is based in the UK, has got a UK billing address and a UK payment method, and the error tells me to switch to the UK store. People in Canada get a similar error - you must switch from the US store to Canadian. The error makes no sense, the account is already in the desired country. Clicking on the “Change Store” button opens the App Store app and displays another error: “Cannot Connect to App Store”. Clicking Retry just results in this errors showing again and again. Clicking OK takes us back to the failed IAP purchase and the final error message appears: “Purchase Error - Unable to Complete Request”. Things I’ve done / checked: IAPs are configured in App Store Connect and available for all regions prices are set for all regions in App Store Connect IAP name and description localisation in English (UK) IAP status is Ready to Submit, I don’t think I can go past that unless I make a production release (which I can’t until we fix the problem) IAP capabilities added in xcode the problem is not account, machine, or location dependent - every beta tester testing my app on TestFlight has the same issue, they each use a different account and have accounts in different countries double checked the App Store account location in the App Store settings - it is definitely matching the store this error is asking to switch to application exits at startup with error 173 if app receipt cannot be found - this one was suggested by the review team, I could not really find any documentation for it review team also suggested I should add com.apple.security.network.client to enable IAP connectivity. I did add that to one of the builds and it did not help. I am not really convinced this is necessary Any suggestions on what to check and what to try? I have run out of ideas.

Catalyst & Audio Units: getting plugin dimensions right
I'm experimenting with getting my AUv3 plugins working correctly on iOS and MacOS using Catalyst. I'm having trouble getting the plugin windows to look right in Logic Pro X on MacOS. My plugin is designed to look right in Garageband's minimal 'letterbox' layout (1024x335, or ~1:3 aspect ratio) I have implemented supportedViewConfigurations to help the host choose the best display dimensions On iOS this works, although Logic Pro iPad doesn't seem to call supportedViewConfigurations at all, only Garageband does. On MacOS, Logic Pro does call supportedViewConfigurations but only provides oversized screen sizes, making the plugins look awkward. I can also remove the supportedViewConfigurations method on MacOS, but this introduces other issues: I guess my question boils down to this: how do I tell Logic Pro X on MacOS what the optimal window size of my plugin is, using Mac Catalyst?

Apple Push Notification service server certificate update
Regarding the latest news from apple below. I am not able to understand what exactly needs to be done. I can download RSA certificate from the link given but to include it in Trust store is something i am not able to get. can someone help me out here? " The Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs will update the server certificates in sandbox on January 20, 2025, and in production on February 24, 2025. All developers using APNs will need to update their application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root : USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid push notification delivery failures, please make sure that both old and new server certificates are included in the Trust Store before the cut-off date for each of your application servers that connect to sandbox and production. At this time, you don’t need to update the APNs SSL provider certificates issued to you by Apple."

Clear Purchase History for a Sandbox Apple ID doesn't work
Hello, I'm trying to clear the purchase history made with a sandbox Apple ID on my test device but it does not work. The past purchases are still returned by StoreKit. I've waited many hours but it seems to persist. When I use for await result in Transaction.currentEntitlements { in my app, my non-consumable product is still here. Is it expected? How long should it take to reset the history? Is is supposed to work also for non-consumable products? Thanks Axel

MapKitJS Pricing
Hello (: I have a question regarding the current pricing model for Apple Maps APIs, specifically MapKitJS, the Maps Snapshot API, and the Maps Server API. Previously, the documentation and my understanding indicated that the usage limits were defined per day — for example, 250,000 map loads per day for MapKitJS and 25,000 snapshots per day. However, in the Apple Developer Dashboard, I’m now seeing these limits shown on a per-month basis, such as only 25,000 snapshots per-month. This appears to contradict the publicly available information on the official website, which still states daily limits. Has the pricing model officially changed, or is this just a display issue in the dashboard? I need to know this because we're going into release soon, and then we might have thousands of users.

Document-based SwiftData apps fail to identify a store on iPad?
When trying to run my document-based iPad app using iPadOS 18 beta and Xcode 16 beta, I get an error like the following after opening a document: Thread 1: Fatal error: Failed to identify a store that can hold instances of SwiftData._KKMDBackingData<MyProject.MyModel> from [:] In order to help track down what is going wrong, I downloaded the sample app from WWDC23 session "Build an app with SwiftData" found here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/building-a-document-based-app-using-swiftdata When I try to run the end-state of that sample code, I get a similar error when running the app on my iPad and creating a new deck: Thread 1: Fatal error: Failed to identify a store that can hold instances of SwiftData._KKMDBackingData<SwiftDataFlashCardSample.Card> from [:] Given that the sample project is generating the same error as my own project, is this a problem with SwiftData and document-based apps in general? Or is there a change of approach that I should try?

Non Optional AppIntent Param
After building my app with Xcode 16 beta 6 I'm getting this warning in my AppIntents. Encountered a non-optional type for parameter: computer. Conformance to the following AppIntent protocols requires all parameter types to be optional: AppIntents.WidgetConfigurationIntent, AppIntents.ControlConfigurationIntent The intent looks something like this struct WakeUp: AppIntent, WidgetConfigurationIntent, PredictableIntent { @Parameter(title: "intent.param.computer", requestValueDialog:"intent.param.request_dialog.computer") var computer: ComputerEntity init(computer: ComputerEntity) { self.computer = computer } init() { } public static var parameterSummary: some ParameterSummary { Summary("Wake Up \(\.$computer)") } static var predictionConfiguration: some IntentPredictionConfiguration { IntentPrediction(parameters: (\.$computer)) { computer in DisplayRepresentation( title: "Wake Up \(computer)" ) } } @MainActor func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult & ProvidesDialog { } } According to the docs though specifying optional is how we say if the value is required or not. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appintents/adding-parameters-to-an-app-intent#Make-a-parameter-optional-or-required So is this warning accurate? If so, how do I specify that a parameter is required by the intent now?

HealthKit permission sheet appears every time for some users - bug?
The HealthKit permission sheet is showing up every time the app opens for a few users of my app. It doesn't matter what action they take in the sheet. I have had them try toggling the permissions from the HealthKit system settings but that did not happen to fix the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem or know a fix? Its affecting a few users of my app. I haven't been able to find what in my code could be doing this, I suspect its a bug on HealthKit's side for specific users. I can't find anyone reporting this problem elsewhere so I have to assume its my fault, but the docs clearly state that the permission sheet will only be presented once.

Speech Recognition Problem in iOS 18.0
It looks like Apple has added some new API(s) to SFSpeechRecognition My app, which is currently listed on App Store does feature speech recognition. Yet, trying to use it under iOS 18.0 throws errors: -[SFSpeechRecognitionTask localSpeechRecognitionClient:speechRecordingDidFail:]_block_invoke Ignoring subsequent local speech recording error: Error Domain=kAFAssistantErrorDomain Code=1101 "(null)" What happens is that after several words are transcribed and displayed, the next sentence results in previous words disappearance. That's probably what that portion of the error text - "Ignoring subsequent local speech recording error: Error Domain=kAFAssistantErrorDomain Code=1101 "(null)" means. The problem occurs ONLY when the app is running under iOS 18.0 Even when it's compiled in Xcode 16.0 using iOS 17.5 everything works fine. Any suggestions?

Cannot add VPN configuration on iOS 26 beta 5 when passcode is enabled
On iOS 26 beta 5, it is impossible to add a VPN configuration when a passcode is set on the device. Every time, all it does is redirect to the Settings app with no prompt for passcode. The only way around this is to disable passcode on the device so adding a VPN configuration doesn’t have to open the Settings app. This issue happened intermittently in the past with previous iOS 26 betas and even on iOS 18, but the problem has worsened on iOS 26 beta 5 to the point where you have to turn off passcode to add a VPN. Push notifications were not successfully delivered and have bad status
Hello everyone, I have been working on a macOS app that utilizes push notifications for the past year. Up until recently, everything was functioning correctly. However, now I'm experiencing issues where push notifications are either not being delivered at all or are experiencing significant delays, sometimes up to 10 minutes. Setting the priority header to 10 hasn't made any difference. I am currently using development push notifications, but the issue persists when switching to the production environment. I'm curious if anyone else has encountered similar problems. When checking the push console, it frequently reports that the device is offline, even though it's actually online ("discarded as device was offline"). Occasionally, notifications are delivered promptly, but this is becoming increasingly infrequent. This issue has been consistently reported by our testers, particularly after they updated to macOS Sonoma. Any insights or assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

StoreKit2: .purchase() not working after expiry of subscription in app, but renewing in AppStore sandbox does...
Hi, thanks for reading my question. I need help with some odd behaviour with product.purchase() not triggering a confirmation dialog after a subscription has expired and trying to purchase it again. Seeing this in iOS 16.2 and 15.7.2 (haven't tried any other versions) on actual devices, not in simulator. I'm using a sandbox user on the sandbox environment (not using the local store kit config file testing option). Using a newly created sandbox user, first subscription purchase goes through just fine, dialog box pops up, login with sandbox user, get confirmation of purchase and then Transaction.currentEntitlements has one item as expected. It auto renews for 12 times (each time Transaction.currentEntitlements contains the correct results) and then expires, as expected for sandbox. Transaction.currentEntitlements is then also empty, as expected. All good so far. Now I want to test purchasing it again...Call product.purchase() again to renew/start a new subscription and nothing happens, no confirm purchase dialog box pops up at all. The purchase function simply exits BUT returns success (as in the following gets called) but in self.updatePurchasedProducts(), Transaction.currentEntitlements is empty. case let .success(.verified(transaction)):      // Successful purchase       await transaction.finish()      await self.updatePurchasedProducts() if I instead go to Settings->App Store->Sandbox User-> Manage Subscriptions and renew the subscription there, instead of in my app, then Transaction.currentEntitlements has a new entry and all is good again. Alternatively, if I create yet another new sandbox user and logout of the old one I was using, I am once again able to purchase from within the app, so .purchase() once again works as normal. Is there something I am missing about expired subscriptions and trying to purchase them again in the app? Is this a sandbox issue and in production I'll have no problem? The sandbox user has purchasing enabled in Settings->App Store. I've also tried calling AppStore.sync() (which is in my "Restore Purchase" button) before calling product.purchase() after the subscription stops renewing, expires and this issue comes up, doesn't resolve it. Also have a less important question, the initial call to product.purchase(), the one that works as expected, has a bit of a delay before the confirmation dialog pops up, a few seconds, which will probably result in the user clicking the buy button again thinking it didn't work. Is a bit of a delay normal for sandbox? Will it be ok in production? When it fails, and I have to renew in Settings->AppStore->Sandbox user, there's also a bit of a delay after I return to my app, 5-15 or so seconds, before the transaction observer fires and currentEntitlements is checked again, is there a way to reduce this delay? Thank you! Colin @MainActor class IAPManager: NSObject, ObservableObject {  // removed other functions.....   func purchase(_ product: Product) async throws {    let result = try await product.purchase()     switch result {    case let .success(.verified(transaction)):      // Successful purchase       await transaction.finish()      await self.updatePurchasedProducts()    case let .success(.unverified(_, error)):       break     case .pending:       break     case .userCancelled:       break     @unknown default:       break   } }  func updatePurchasedProducts() async {     for await result in Transaction.currentEntitlements {       guard case .verified(let transaction) = result else {         continue       }       if transaction.revocationDate == nil {         self.purchasedProductIDs.insert(transaction.productID)       } else {         self.purchasedProductIDs.remove(transaction.productID)       }     }   } }
