Realistic Apple Pencil handwriting code?
Hello there! I am struck with the really wonderful quality of the Apple Pencil handwriting code in apps like PDF Expert and Notability. I think that Notability is especially great. The Notability people say that there is some proprietary code that helps with the quality, which is to my best guess some form vectorization of the strokes in combination with antialiasing to make it appear especially smooth. What do we know about the state of the art of handwriting with Apple Pencil? Is using pencil pressure enough to provide accurate handwriting? What about tilt and speed?I am developing a diagraming app with PyQt and want the handwritten notes feature to be very realistic and personal. Are there code snippets or lessons learned out there?Thank you!-P

Apple Pencil Pro Squeeze API
I wonder if an Apple engineer could confirm: will the Apple Pencil Pro squeeze functionality be detectable in the current API, or will this be a future iPadOS extension to gesture recognizers / UIKit? I’d like to start playing with the functionality if it’s detected behind an existing event though. (Long press?)

touch.force unit - collecting data from Apple Pencil
Hello, I am currently working in an Alzheimer's related researching where we are utilizing the force (pressure) data from the Apple Pencil. While we are able to get a range of the force values (0 - 4.2), we do not know the actual unit of this pressure. I have gone through the documentation but I did not find any mention about the unit of the touch.force parameter. What is the unit of this touch.force parameter? I also wanted to ask about being able to capture other information from the apple pencil like accelerometer data, gyroscope data etc. The more data we are able to capture from the pencil the better, so that the data can be used for future studies about Alzheimer's Disease. Currently I am using the pencil to capture the following data: - Force Location (coordinates) Altitude angle Azimuth angle Azimuth Unit Vector Perpendicular Force (calculated as per documentation) Major Radius Tap Count If there is anything more that I can capture via the apple

Destecting double tap on Apple Pencil with SwiftUI
Hello, I am making an app for iPad and I would like to be able to detect when the Apple Pencil is double tapped with my SwiftUI (I am not using PencilKit because I'm not making a drawing app). I saw it was possible with UIKit but didn't quite understand if I could use UIKit functions on SwiftUI. I just want to perform some action when the Pencil is double tapped, very basic. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it ! Thanks by advance, Cyprien

Reply to Apple Pencil and iOS 11 issues
I have similar issues. My Pencil hasn't worked with all three iOS 11 Betas (but worked fine before that). When I connect the Pencil directly to the Lightning port, it shows up as connected but with 0% battery; when I remove it, it just disconnects. I've tried fully charging the Pencil via a Lightning cable, unpairing and re-pairing it, rebooting the iPad and doing a full reset of the iPad, and the behavior is the same.

Reply to Apple Pencil Pairing Issues
Can confirm the hair dryer hack worked. Bought Pencil brand new a year and half ago, used it a couple of weeks ago, although it's only been used maybe a couple dozen times. Pencil wouldn't pair, even after what seemed like fully charging. Heated with the hair dryer maybe 30 seconds. Voila. Was prompted to pair as soon as I plugged it in again. It was 100% charged by that time as well. Thanks y'all! Don't know what's up with that but it works.

Apple Pencil Pro not staying connected in iPadOS26 beta
I have a new M4 iPad Air and a brand new Apple Pencil Pro. It was working well until I installed iPadOS 26.0 (23A5297m) beta. Now, when using GoodNotes to write the Pencil functions for about 6-8 seconds and then disconnects for 2-3 seconds and then reconnects. You can imagine how disruptive this is. It does the same thing trying to highlight in the Kindle app, so I think it is an iOS issue. As I write this, I am discovering that the Pencil is not wanting to stay connected at all despite showing up in the list of Bluetooth devices and connecting temporarily. I've tried forgetting and reconnecting the Pencil several times. It is charged to 100%, and I receive the alert that the iPad detects the Pencil. Is anyone else having this issue? Do I need to assume this is being addressed?

Apple pencil
I have changed my settings to Korean as well as adding a Korean keyboard however whenever i use Korean characters, it gets changed to random English letters to replace it. This happens when using translate or typing into Google.
