My app Mocawave is a music player distributed through the Mac App Store. It declares specific audio document types (public.mp3, com.microsoft.waveform-audio, public.mpeg-4-audio, public.aac-audio) in its CFBundleDocumentTypes with a Viewer role. When a user sets Mocawave as the default app for audio files and double-clicks an MP3 downloaded from the internet (which has the com.apple.quarantine extended attribute), macOS displays the alert: Apple could not verify [filename] is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. This does not happen when: Opening the same file via NSOpenPanel from within the app Opening the same file with Apple's Music.app or QuickTime Player The app is: Distributed through the Mac App Store Sandboxed (com.apple.security.app-sandbox) Uses com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-write entitlement The file being opened is a regular audio file (MP3), not an executable. Since the app is sandboxed and distributed through the App Store, I expected

Hi there, I’ve been having ongoing issues with my Apple Watch. Last week I updated it to watchOS 26.3. The next day it accidentally ran out of battery, and since then it has been randomly restarting, showing an overheating message. I suspected it might be related to the update, so I researched online and on the official Apple forums. People recommended resetting the Apple Watch and unpairing it from my iPhone. I did both procedures, but the problem persists, even when the watch is in a cool environment. I’ve been using it normally, but it still restarts multiple times a day. Yesterday I even updated to the public beta of watchOS 26.4 hoping it would fix the issue, but it didn’t help — the random restarting continues. Today I also unpaired and paired it again with my iPhone, and the problem is still happening. This has been very disruptive and frustrating. I’m following up on my previous message because I’ve found additional diagnostic information that may help identify the cause of
It does seem that the issue is related to any APIs and features intended specifically for developers, which are what this forums for. I'd hence suggest that you post in the Apple Support Community, and if that doesn't help, contact Apple Care or find an Apple retail store to see if folks there can help you restore your device back to its original stable state. My phone's charging port is fried. It only charges wirelessly. Fixing it costs the same as the phone. I currently am having a lot of issues enrolling for apple developer program as well, so I can't use test flight right now. I want to enable developer mode on my phone, but it's never been connected to xcode before, so the option is not available. How do I enable developer mode without being able to connect it to a pc? I have a mac, and both my mac and iphone are on the same apple id. thank you
Hey Apple Developer Community, We have been on the app store for 7 years now. Our latest app submission was rejected under Guideline 4.3(a) app shares similarities in binary, metadata, and concept with apps submitted by other developers, with only minor differences. Even after multiple reviews, the reason for rejection is the same. We still found that your app shares a similar binary, metadata, and concept as apps submitted to the App Store by other developers, with only minor differences. Since we do not accept spam apps on the App Store, we encourage you to review your app concept and submit a unique app with distinct content and functionality. Our app has been developed in-house and we own the entire source code. And Apple won't tell us which app this is similar to. Do they expect us to discover that? We have already filed an appeal with the App Board. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What's the best way to resolve this? Any support here will be much appreciated.

App Review
Hello everyone, I’ve reached out to Apple’s review team multiple times, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any clear or specific guidance on why my app was rejected. My app has been rejected several times with the reason “Spam” under guideline 4.3, and I still don't understand exactly which part of the app is problematic. Even after providing the necessary information about the data, I resubmitted the app, and after a few days, it quickly moved into In Review status, but then was rejected within seconds with the same “Spam” message. I have sent over 13 messages asking for specific feedback, and all I get are vague responses saying “It’s spam, refer to 4.3, fix your app, and resubmit.” However, when I review the guidelines, I don’t see any specific reasons for rejection that apply to my app. I’m particularly confused because my app is a VPN, and when I check the guidelines, I see that apps in categories like dating and others are saturated, but VPN apps are not. My app uses completely dedicated ser

Hi All, We are facing App Rejection from Apple due to this - Guidelines 5.1.1(i) - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and 5.1.2(i) - Legal - Privacy - Data Use Issue Description The app appears to share the user’s personal data with a third-party AI service but the app does not clearly explain what data is sent and identify who the data is sent to before sharing the data. Apps may only use, transmit, or share personal data after they meet all of the following requirements: Disclose what data will be sent Specify who the data is sent to Obtain the user’s permission before sending data Identify in the privacy policy what data the app collects, how it collects that data, all uses of that data, and confirm any third party the app shares data with provides the same or equal protection Next Steps If the app sends user data to a third-party AI service, revise the app to explain what data is sent and identify who the data is sent to before sharing personal data with a third-party AI service. If it does not al
Thanks again for reporting the issue. It seems that the issue is impacting the community, but I haven't seen any feedback report ID posted here. Do folks have any feedback report yet? If not, would you mind to file one and share your report ID here? I understand that filing an actionable feedback report takes time, but that will help. I am trying to capture the issue, and yet, my current configuration, Xcode 26.2 (17C52) + iPhone 17 Pro with iOS 26.3 (23D127) + Apple Watch series 10 with watchOS 26.3 (23S620), does work for me. I’m blocked debugging a watchOS app on a physical Apple Watch. The iPhone connects to Xcode normally (wired), but the Watch either fails to connect with a tunnel timeout or disappears entirely from Xcode after I unpaired it inside Devices & Simulators. Environment Mac: macOS 26.x (Apple Silicon Mac) Xcode: 26.2 iPhone: iOS 26.1 Apple Watch Ultra: watchOS 26.2 (build 23S303) Connection: iPhone connected to Mac via USB (trusted). Watch paired to iPhone and working normally in the Watch app. Issue A (when Watch is visible in Xcode) In Xcode → Window → Devices and Simulators, the Watch shows up but is not usable and fails to connect. Error: “Previous preparation error: A connection to this device could not be established.” “Timed out while attempting to establish tunnel using negotiated network parameters.” In some attempts the Watch shows “Capacity: Unknown” / limited details, and then fails during preparation. Issue B (after unpairing Watch in Xcode only) I unpaired/removed the Wa
Hi! I am encountering an issue with the notarization process. After upgrading to a new iPhone and restoring from an iCloud backup using the same Apple ID, I noticed an issue with Health app permissions. ■ What is happening On my previous iPhone, an app had permission to read step count data. After restoring to the new iPhone, the app still appears in the Health app under Sources. However, when I tap the app, the usual data type permission toggles (such as Steps) are not displayed at all. As a result, the app is unable to read step count data. ■ Additional details The app itself seems to be recognized as a Health data source. However, the data type permission screen is empty. No ON/OFF switches are shown. The backup was created on iOS 18, and the restore was performed on iOS 26. I have not yet confirmed whether this also happens with other iOS version combinations. ■ Questions Is it expected behavior that Health app permissions (per data type) are not restored via iCloud backup? Has anyone experienced a similar situation where the app appears under Sources but t
Keep in mind that appex-based VPN isn’t well aligned with macOS’s execution model. macOS supports multiple users simultaneously, which is a concern because VPN configurations affect the networking stack as a whole.
So how does that explain network app extensions in App Store apps? What is there to stop a user logged in on the same system (possibly a standard user) from accessing a VPN tunnel started by another higher privileged user via a Mac App Store app with a network app extension and gaining unauthorized access to resources via that tunnel? I would think most people assume App Store apps to be running in a far more restricted environment than apps distributed outside the App Store, but in the case of app extensions the opposite appears to be the case. By forcing Developer ID apps to use system extensions it forces admin privileges in order to install the extension and the explicit granting of Privacy and Security perm

Apple is encouraging VPN apps on macOS to transition to Network Extension APIs, if they haven't done so yet, see: TN3165: Packet Filter is not API WWDC25: Filter and tunnel network traffic with NetworkExtension Using Network Extension is fine for VPN apps that are distributed via the Mac App Store. Users get one pop-up requesting permission to add VPN configurations and that's it. However, VPN apps that are distributed outside of the App Store (using Developer ID) cannot use Network Extension in the same way, such apps need to install a System Extension first (see TN3134: Network Extension provider deployment). Installing a System Extension is a very poor user experience. There is a pop-up informing about a system extension, which the user has to manually enable. The main button is OK, which only dismisses the pop-up and in such case there is little chance that the user will be able to find the correct place to enable the extension. The other button in that pop-up navigates to the correct screen in S
